Motoworks has Vespas, so I went there. This place is high end and they clearly expect high end customers but I'm a teacher and not rich, so I hoped for some financing, much as I might if I bought a car. Motoworks encourages you to apply for financing online with a soft pull to your credit, and make an appointment beforehand to visit the showroom, so I arrived expecting an easy go of it. Happy to report sales people were enthusiastic about all their bikes when I got there, and never tried to upsell me. I appreciated that there was space to make decisions. Getting started was fine, and picking out the bike was positive. Nina encouraged me to try out different bikes on the floor until I felt comfortable, and I felt good about the bike I picked. All the people on the floor were friendly and helpful. Then things got weird. I sat around for two hours waiting to hear about financing paperwork for a 5k purchase. Nobody there gave me any insight about interest rates, expectations for money down, or even quoting a price besides the sticker amount. I was finally presented with a printout where they financed half if I paid cash for the other half, on the spot. Purchase price by then was up to 9k after taxes, freight fees, and a murky $800 "maintenance package" that had no details on paper. I wanted to leave the shop and come back the next day with my ducks in a row about the 4K cash from me, but of course they don't want you to leave. Finance lady suggested I ask the "gal" I came in with to help pay with a card. Then she asked if we were married, and told me it was OK to ask my wife to help me pay because our money was shared anyway. Thankfully my "gal" did step up with a second card, but it was an awkward surprise that didn't need to be so weird and nervy. At that point Finance lady was feeling ill, so Finance man came in to finish the sale. Finance man spoke curtly to me about parking bike on street. Finance lady offered me theft program. Why? Did they assume I lived in a bad neighborhood because I parked on the street? Plenty of people park scooters on the street all over Chicago. By now I am thoroughly rattled. After that I finally walked out and got the bike. Bike is stunning and peppy. Sales people were kind as I left. Financing guy provided registration and a plate for me to drive home with. Nina filled the bike with gas, showed me how to use the key, gave me a tee shirt, and gave me a hug before I drove off. Great stock, huge shop, and outstanding salespeople, but do your own financing before you go pick out one of these spectacular bikes.

I felt like a team was taking care of me, not an individual salesperson. The sales price was better than I found anywhere else. The ease and transparency of traveling from New York to pick up the bike at their Chicago location was greatly appreciated. They even arranged to deliver the bike to my son's house in the western suburbs at no additional charge. Nothing but nice things to say about my experience. And what a great bike. I had gone to many of the past ones in Chicago but then never offered good service and communication next to a reasonable turnaround time in repair or maintenance. Some are even cheating Motorcycle customers. Anyways if one is in dire need in Chicago to upkeep and repair ones motorcycle do go here. They are the only ones in downtown Chicago. Mike the owner of the business and Elvis his assistance even went above and beyond to put a extra clutch peg after leaving their shop. Their estimates for repair are reasonable and they try to work it out with pricing if it is too much to repair and insurance does not cover your damages. I got my 2009 Harley 883 sportster back and I am pretty happy since they got it fixed within less than a week. Do go here.

What really blew me away -- they took me in with no appointment, had my bike done within an hour, and still left me with plenty of riding time for the day. I brought my Ducati in for a general inspection, which cost $170. It took about 15 days and several follow-up phone calls before I finally received the diagnosis. By then, I picked up my bike after waiting two weeks. They emailed me a list of recommended repairs and instructed me to check off the work I wanted done. I replied... and then heard nothing for over two months. What really bothered me, though, was their approach to repairs. One item on the inspection was loose heated grips. Yes, they were loose, but they were still in excellent condition. Their recommendation? Replace the entire set. An honest mechanic would have said, "We can probably fix that with a $5 tube of grip glue and save you a few hundred dollars." Instead, the solution was to replace perfectly good heated grips. My Ducati is due for a Desmo service soon, which typically costs $1,200-$1,800. After this experience, I'll be taking my bike somewhere else.

We had dropped off his tire around 11 A.M, not hearing anything for the next 5 hours from either of the two men working at the shop. We called around 4:40 P.M only to find out they were JUST going to work on my fiancé's tire, and less than ten minutes later they called my finance back, letting him know he was "missing his spline." We informed my fiancé's brother, who was paying for this (he even told the younger guy there that he wasn't paying at pickup. That someone else would be paying). He was confused, and we all went to pick up his tire. We had already found it weird neither one of the two guys working could explain shit to us. They couldn't explain over the phone or in person. The only thing they had said to my fiancé's brother was "if the wheel is like that, then the other part that connects to it should be damage as well too" (Drive Shaft) but when we had removed the wheel, we checked EVERYTHING, and it was not SHAVED DOWN the way they told us. We took the wheel at 11 A.M in good condition. Nothing was wrong. The normal wear and tear we have seen. But when we got back to the wheel, the "spline" in question was shaved off and damage. These guys half assed a job because they were irresponsible and lost track of time. They fucked up a part of the wheel needed. They mentioned buying the part from them or eBay. Don't come to this establishment. They won't own up to their mistakes. They find ways to scam and make a paycheck. And if you leave a bad review they might call you and try to guilt-trip you to take it down. Trust me. They got time to call and throw a tantrum for shit service they give. But they won't fix your bikes. They'll only mess them up instead of doing their job. As shown in the photos the Drive Shaft is perfectly fine and the other part of it is mess up (Hub Clutch) which they fucked it up.

Now I want to cover the real value. I am a 60-year-old beginner who recently took a two day motorcycle rider safety class in preparation for the road test. I'm not afraid to acknowledge that I am an over thinker, which sometimes results in a bit of anxiety. Marty and Carlos found a way to meet me where I was in terms of capability and mindset. Yes, they were great instructors. Yes, I passed the test. That is not what made my experience great. Marty and Carlos made it great by meeting me at a human level with caring and kindness until I was ready to go take the test. As always seems to be the case, the people make the difference. I highly recommend utilizing their service and working with these guys. You won't be disappointed.

Apparently the clutch pack…read morewasn't replaced, just removed from the bike and photographed, then put back in with zero work done to it--nor was the spark plug or gear oil replaced. Gear oil was almost dry. Coolant was over filled and spilling out. Air filter was hosed off, not replaced. The filter was 8 years old. Not only do they do shoddy work, they also bill for things that weren't done, and remove parts for no reason other than to photograph them and put them back in without fixing them. I was told aprox 2 weeks. It was exactly 1 week and a day. The work was great. In the summer the wait can be anywhere from a few days to 4-6 weeks. It is expected though because of the lack of quality shops still in business in the Chicagoland area. That's why I plan ahead and do these upgrades over the winter during the "off season". Gives me time to pay and keeps my local bike shop busy. It's a win-win situation. Try them out !!! You'll be happy.

If you're looking for a parts to fab or customize, stop by this place. If you're looking for that brand new scooter with that brand new HOG patch, go to a Harley dealer. They have an ebay store with tons of goods on it but slow on the emails so just stop in.
