I'll start with the positives of this restaurant - the service was great. The wait staff was extremely attentive, professional, and hospitable. We were seated immediately with complimentary Prosecco. The ambiance is more sophisticated and upscale, and the plating of the food is beautiful and almost like art. We did the 3 course option. For the first course, I had the burrata. I do not recommend getting it, I couldn't tell if it was the burrata or the tomatoes but it didn't taste like burrata and was awful. I was shocked, especially since that was our first course. Someone else at our table had the burrata as well. I thought maybe it was just me that didn't like it, but the other person also said it was not good and didn't eat it. The salmon dish was amazing. I was very pleased with that - it was cooked excellent and the tomatoes on the side were bursting with flavor. Someone else also had the Lobster Carbonara and it was spectacular!! So so good. For dessert I had the tiramisu which was also amazing. The espresso martini dessert isn't actually a martini, it's ice cream with liquor poured on top which confused us and unfortunately the one who ordered is dairy free so didn't get to enjoy it. They also treated us to complimentary house made limoncello which was a nice surprise. Overall, it's a great restaurant and experience if you're willing to pay the price (EXPENSIVE price). especially if you drink. By far the most expensive meal on our trip and one that we've done in a long time. If the first course was better, I would've given it a 4 star - not quite there to be worth 5 stars for how expensive it is though. read more

Our 4 Course Meal at Palio at the Wyndham Grand Rio Mar in Puerto Rico is quite possibly the best vacation dining experience we've ever had. Everything was amazing! The restaurant was so beautiful, there was a violinist playing music while you eat. Each course was so delicious, from the Caesar salad, Jamón Iberico, whipped ricotta, filet mignon, lobster risotto,and desserts. The filet was cooked exactly, which we liked, and the service was impeccable. If you're ever in the area, I highly recommend checking them out. We ended up losing power in our AirBnb right after this dinner, but luckily, it was located on the Wyndham Grand Rio Mar property, and we got to experience everything this beautiful resort had to offer. I'm looking forward to our next trip back. read more

Decent italian food. Osso bucco was very good. Lamb chops and fish dishes were very good. Lobster was cooked right and soft. Service was very nice and very accommodating. Were a bunch of New Yorkers eating italian food in Puerto Rico. This could be a daunting challenge for other towns, especially for restaurants outside the US. They handled it very well. New Year's Eve reservations for dinner tonight. Not sure what to think seeing that this place only has a 2.5 Stars overall. Keeping my expectations low is best it seems. Our 6:30PM reserved for 6PM by accident. We were still seated. It's a NYE prix fixe menu tonight. $95/PP. Or the pick of the regular menu to choose from as well. Sandra is waiting on us with our drinks. Edgardo is our server tonight. First course: Carrot soup. Second course: 1856 Prime Rib, blackened salmon, pasta and roasted eggplant. Dessert: Hazelnut Chocolate Mousse. One prime rib prix fix medium rare and one blackened salmon prix fixe, one seasonal risotto, Caesar salad, a blackened salmon, burrata salad and a blackened salmon. The tomato and herb bread is okay. The sun dried tomato spread is the best part of the bread. The bread is quite dense and not so billowy, still palatable with the sun dried tomato. The carrot soup is nice and smooth, it could be warmer, it was barley luke warm. The burrata is yummy, the bread accompaniment is fresh and crunchy. The pesto bed is a nice pairing with the burrata cheese. The Caesar salad is full leaves and is good. The anchovies are tasty as well. The seasonal risotto is with goat cheese, caramelized onions and raisins is quite good. The champagne risotto with cilantro with the prix fixe with the salmon is not as good. The prime rib was more medium well than kept up rare, so a bit tougher than expected, still not bad. The mushroom (porcini) risotto was good. Granada Gremolata was also good. All of the salmon was nicely cooked and seasoned too. The panzanella came after our entrees, they were forgotten and missed in the process. The basil dressing was really good, maybe a bit heavy on the dressing, it was swimming. The hazelnut mousse was okay, beautiful presentation, cubicle balls of mousse. The meringue drops were cool accompaniment. The raspberry sauce is the highlight of the dessert to me. Gives a nice tartness to the mousse dessert. I don't get much hazelnut flavoring. Dinner was $175. The prix fix wasn't worth the $95. The carrot soup, panzanella and the hazelnut mousse was not worth the extra $33. The billing got a bit mixed up trying to split the bill in two. read more

The tasting menu was delicious with lots of choices, the service was exceptional, and they were very kind when they learned it was my birthday. My party of seven dined here on a Monday evening. This is a fine dining establishment at an upscale resort. Everyone enjoyed their dinners. The gnocchi and mushroom risotto dishes were great. The seafood risotto is pricey, but has an amazing presentation and large quantity of seafood. The tiramisu and mini donut with ice cream desserts were a hit. If you prefer a liquid dessert, I highly recommend the Screwball peanut butter whiskey - a great flavor combination! Bottled water is served, so plan for an additional charge. Not the place for families with young children who are unable to sit through a two hour dining experience. read more

100% NOT worth it. I ignored all of the other reviews saying the same thing. We had eaten at Roots Coastal Kitchen 3 nights in a row and I thought we needed to try something different. Such a mistake. Totally underwhelming food at exorbitant prices. Roots was great - it is still expensive, but much less than Palio and their menu is creative and diverse and it is a great atmosphere. This is not fine dining. Lack of training shows which is management's fault. We were greeted and shown to our table. After 10-12 minutes the server greeted us asked if we wanted water, we said yes and she left. I had to ask for the wine list, as it was not provided to us upon seating. The wine list is very disorganized and confusing. Wines are listed without rhyme or reason. If it's an Italian specialty restaurant the wines should be listed by region but, the list didn't make sense. . Few minutes later she came back with the water. At this time we ordered appetizers and entrees. I ordered the osso bucco with a glass of the Chianti Classico. The food was delivered by a staff member. Our server didn't check on us and I had to ask another staff to ask her to come to our table. When she showed up I asked for the my wine, just to be informed that they side have it. (She had 30-35 minutes to let me know). The lack of training and management involvement shows. In no universe this is fine dining. The osso bucco was good but not exceptional. Came with a spoonful of mashed potatoes supposedly with truffle, that someone forgot. So, this is a good everyday eatery but far from fine dining. Management needs to go, and bring real hospitality professionals to train the service staff. read more

The service was iffy at best and it took way too long. Water glasses were barely refilled. The food was not very fresh or well prepared and the price was astronomical. I paid more for 5 of us to eat and leave completely unsatisfied than I would've paid at Capital Grille. Wyndham needs to refresh and revamp the whole concept because I think it's lacking. Overall the menu is strange and restrictive with the course requirements. I would not recommend. Just incredible food served by the most attentive staff we've experienced. We had perfectly friend calamari and a ultra flavorful meatball dish for starters. Then the catch of the day was grouper prepared with such incredible flavor to highlight the freshness. Chicken parm plus a seafood linguine dish highlighted by shrimp, mussels and lobster - we friend multiple pastas all of which won raves. Service was well timed and beyond attentive in a gorgeous setting. Great service (only reason I am giving it 2 instead of 1 star) but absolutely TERRIBLE food. We had the misfortune of spending our first valentines day as a married couple at Palio.... they had a "special" tasting menu which they informed me of a few days prior but failed to tell me it was 130 dollars more than the expected $65 per person of the normal menu. First, the appetizers we the short rip ravioli which would have tasted fine if not good but the texture was terrible and the short rib filling was so dry it had to be sent back and instead they brought us the prawn risotto... OMG this was SO incredibly salty I took one bite and pushed it away. My husband ate it reluctantly because he was too polite to sent it back because the servers were very nice. The only good appetizer was the pesto gnocci which was good but not great. The entrees were also mediocre at best. the Fish was cooked well but had very little flavor. The veal chop was again so salty that we took home most of it to be cooked into pasta sauce to cut the salt. the drinks were.... alcohol theyre fine but not worth the 16-20 per drink they charge. Well-intentioned but very poorly executed. The service was incredible, let me start with that. They love that you're there and we were treated like a king and queen. I ordered the catch of the day, which was a red snapper, whole fish, prepared with an arugula salad. My wife ordered the lobster that came with mashed potatoes and broccoli. The only thing that was worth noting was my wife's lobster. It was delicious. However, they deep-fried my fish. Then, they placed that hot greasy mess on the salad. Maybe a scorching hot salad drenched in fryer grease is your thing, but it's not mine. My wife's potatoes were undoubtedly out of a box and she got 1 broccoli stalk that was over cooked. Overall, the flavor of everything was bland and under-whelming. Dessert was good, and the wine was good. After tip to our amazing server, it was $229. I could have gotten deep fried fish anywhere for much less. read more

This is the top shelf restaurant for the resort and it did not disappoint. Service was 5 star without being stuffy. The food was perfectly cooked and at the expected temperatures. You get the upscale experience but still felt comfortable to talk to your neighboring table. The wait staff was also knowledgeable about the menu and gave great wine advice for pairings. read more

Nice restaurant at the Wyndham Margaritaville. Willie, our server was outstanding. He provided some good recommendations and had a great personality. The food was delicious. We read the previous reviews about the seasoning on the food and asked our server to go light on the seasoning. The portions were more than enough. We had the salmon and the pesto chicken pasta. There is also a good wine selection. It is a little on the pricier side but so are the other restaurants at the resort. read more

Per the menu, the clam chowder looked good, but turns out they were missing ingredients and blamed that they couldn't get them from the mainland, but only after they served me crappy clam chowder and I pointed out the issues. Palio had terrible service and high prices , $40 for 5 pieces of shrimp and vegetables, but the quality of the food added a star... the food tasted good while my party of 7 had to wait an hour for food while 3 or 4 other parties who were already there waited for food. We also didn't get checked on so my mom had to find the server to ask for bread... and they didn't offer us drinks when they came at the beginning... I wouldn't recommend it unless you are willing to wait at least an hour... the food is worth the wait though... bring your own entertainment. read more

Linguini al Pomodoro e Pollo - The flavor of the pasta was nice. Simple. Fusilli con Carne Arrabiata - there was nothing spicy about this dish even though I was "warned" it would be. This is the best of the worst of all the restaurants at the Wyndham Grand Rio Mar resort & Spa . The waiter sat us down and said the kitchen was closing -if we could put the order In within 5 min. While most of the dishes were accompanied with polenta , they were all out and the waiter said we can substitute with pasta . We asked for linguini , we got spaghetti. The food here was very good not the best I've ever had but the best in the resort. It is very expensive but there are some decently priced items (the lobster risotto is well worth the cost). The table side Cesar salad was excellent and a fun experience. The service was definitely the best in the resort. Attentive and polite. Our waiter normally didn't work there but he was really good.
