Let me start with, they did good work; however, if you're a female you would be better off getting a male friend to take your car for you. My problem was the way I was spoken to by two employees at this business. They were very dismissive, condescending and rude when I asked a question about the work that had been done. It was obvious to me that I was being spoken to that way because I am a woman. These were younger men (30's) and I am 50+. I wonder if they speak to their mothers that way? I wanted to share my recent experiences dealing with potholes here in Maryland as well as a horrible experience at a local wheel repair shop. In the area of a well traveled road, Rt. 5 / Branch Avenue north of Southern Maryland hospital, it has been riddled with potholes in BOTH north and south bound directions. These potholes have been present for months without repair. In traffic, it is impossible to swerve around these potholes without jeopardizing the life of another driver. These potholes have caused over $2,000 worth of damage on the wheels of my 2011 Cadillac CTS-V as they are non repairable. This brings me to another topic. I had been advised to get my wheels repaired. After searching on Google, I arrived at the following company that has shops located nationwide: http://www.awrswheelrepair.com/ The location that I contacted brought my car to is: http://www.awrswheelrepair.com/annapolis/ After contacting this shop, they asked me to text them pictures of my damaged wheels to their phone so that they could assess on whether they were repairable. Their response was that my wheels were repairable and would be finished within the same day I dropped my car off. So an appointment was set for Thursday, March 13, 2014. When I dropped the car off that morning the shop looked at the wheels and said that they were repairable. They called later that day at 2:30 pm and stated that my car was not ready because they had not even begun working on it. I asked them "What was the point in making an appointment if they were not going to get to my car?" They blamed not getting to my car on my getting there 10 minutes late. I did call them to alert them that I would be 5-10 minutes late and I was the first customer there as they were still opening the shop. At that point, they assured me that my car would be ready the next day (Friday, March 14, 2014). The next day (Friday), the shop called me at 9:30 am and stated that my wheels were not repairable. They further stated that they cracked my wheels while trying to repair them and that I could come pick my car up or leave it there for the weekend until I figured out what to do. Not once during any dialogue with them did they tell me that there was a chance of their wheel repair process cracking my wheels. I asked them if it was safe to drive on if they put my wheels back on the car. They stated "We've tested the wheels and they are holding air, so you should be fine." My friend Antonio brought me to the shop so I could pick up my car. When we arrived I asked to speak to the manager. The manager and another associate came out. Me: "You are a wheel repair shop, and I understand that you repair finishes, bends, and cracks. Why did you not repair the cracks that you caused in my wheels?" Shop: "You brought trash wheels to my shop that were not repairable" My friend, Antonio, then asked the shop: "Why would you put the wheels on the machine if they were not repairable?" Shop: "Sometimes that just happens. As soon as our machine put 100lbs of pressure on your wheels, they cracked. It's not our fault that you brought us trash wheels." Me: "Are you SURE that I'll be safe driving my car with the cracks that your shop caused in my wheels?" Shop: "You'll be fine. Your wheels are holding air." Antonio to the Shop: "What if he hits a pothole, won't that cause the crack to be worse and possibly major issues?" Shop: "That is true but highly unlikely he will run over a pothole that will do that." Me: "Since your shop repairs cracks, I would be more comfortable and feel safer if your shop repaired the cracks that were caused by your shop." Shop: "Your wheels need to be replaced anyways so that would be a wasted effort. If you don't feel comfortable driving home, we can get you a tow truck. -=pause=- Never mind on the tow truck, just leave your address and car key and we will drop your car off sometime later today." Me: "That is unacceptable. I do not feel comfortable leaving my car here for you to drop off at my house at your convenience. I feel that you should repair the cracks that your shop caused in my wheels." Shop: "Why are you doing this? You are trying to get over on us! Fine, we can fix the cracks in your wheels. That will cost you $75." Me: "Why in the world would I pay you to fix the cracks that YOUR shop caused in my wheels?" Shop: "That's all I can do for you." Summary: - My car is unusable at the moment as I do not feel safe driving it with the cracks in the bent wheels that Alloy Wheel Repair Specialists caused. - This is extremely frustrating that I must avoid traveling Rt.5 Branch avenue in either direction due to the unavoidable potholes that have been there for months. - Beware of Alloy Wheel Repair Specialists at the Crofton, Maryland location. Note, that there are other locations so I can't say anything about them. Only the Crofton location. Just know that if they damage your wheels, they won't rectify the situation. read more

Don't do it don't use them...just buy a new wheel...I took my wheel to be straightened small bend....They cracked my wheel welded it..dusted some paint on it to cover the weld...The rim still bent and worst...told me the Barrell is straight and true...must be a lie cause I wobbled all the way home....I had to buy a new wheel.... no star.... read more

I too hit a baaad pothole where Rte 97 joins 695, the Baltimore Beltway. It bent the left front rim on my 328I convertible. Long story short, I searched around for someplace that had a good reputation to assess whether the fancy OEM wheel could be straightened or if it would need to be replaced. Aftert the recommendation from our favorite body shop and a check out with YELP, I took the car down the guys at ALLOY WHEEL REPAIR in Crofton. I had it there on time and one of their guys made an effort to repair the wheel, but in the process of dismounting the tire, he pinched his finger and, i think, as a consequence of that he didn't do his best job. He remounted and balanced the wheel, but I still noticed a shimmy between 60-75 MPH. So, when I returned from a 2 week vacation I called Paul, the manager, and he invited me to bring the car back in. I did, and they quickly took another shot at it and apparently got it right on the money because the shimmy is completely gone and all is well. Per their recommendation, I also took the car back to the BMW dealer (on Rte 40) and they corrected a slight misallignment that was undoubtedly due to that damned pothole too. Bottom Line: Paul and his guys at the Alloy Wheel Repair shop in Crofton stood behind their work, got it absolutely right the second time, and recommended the allignment service too. I bought a 3rd party policy when I purchased my new car which covered parking dings etc. I caught my wheel on a kerb and ended up with a small scuff on the rim. I called the policy people who told me they would find a tech that covered my area and send them out. AWRS come and collect the wheel. It gets anonymously dropped off a few days later. When I looked at the wheel from a distance it looked great. The damage was gone but closer inspection showed so many paint reactions and orange peel it was laughable. The inside of the rim was also covered in over spray. The wheel was originally powder coated, shiny and the same finish all over. After AWRS finished their first attempt it was 2 different finishes, the inside of the wheel was rough and dull, it looked like uncle bob had done it in his back garden with a tin of wood gloss. After sending photos and speaking with the policy people, AWRS got back in contact with me. I informed the guy of my issues. He told me he would need to see it before he could comment on the finish and refuted the over spray saying "we don't touch the inside of the rim" My wheel didn't look like that when they got it, that I can guarantee. They then took the wheel away again, returning it anonymously a few days later. The 1st issue of reacted paint was almost gone, still some parts had reacted so it wasn't by any means perfect. To be perfect it should have been POWDER COATED, to match the original finish and the other 3 wheels. The inside of the wheel was the same, coated in over spray, rough to the touch and dull. I emailed the policy people who have lined up another company to fix the issues with my wheel. I have had wheels repaired throughout the years in a couple of different countries and never had an issue like this. My advice is stay away from them, their workmanship is terrible, they don't listen to you and looking at some of the other negative reviews, it is hit or miss on whether you will end up with an end product you are satisfied with. I'm glad I only need to deal with the policy people who have been great so far and not have to drag this through legal channels. read more

I hit something in the road and bent the wheel on my Corvette. I pulled the wheel of the car and put it the back of my truck. I caught one the guys at the Crofton shop a few minutes after they closed. He took a quick look at the wheel and called his boss to get the ok for me to leave the wheel in the shop for the next day. They had the wheel straighten and the wheel rebalanced by early afternoon. I took the car for a spin after reinstalling the tire and it was fine going down the road. My compliments to the entire shop for getting me back on the road promptly. $150 is a way cheaper than buying a new OEM wheel for a Corvette!! read more

Unfortunately I had to use their services because they contract with the body shop where my vehicle was being repaired. Sloppy work, paint chips, orange peel finish and they have refused to correct their work. My wheels are currently with Rim Doctor who will be correcting all of the issues created by these guys. Not to mention they lost my lugs and hub centering rings. Please go straight to Rim Doctor if you're given the choice. Far better quality and customer service it's not even close. read more

My experience. I've seen their truck around and was curious about their work. I just recently purchased an Avalon and it needed some work. Took it to a body shop in Annapolis to get it done. Explained to the owner about needing some wheel work and he said that he had a wheel guy stop by just recently. Long and short of it, ARW of Annap. cleaned and repolished the wheel of my concern. Actually got to talk with the tech and he said that the refinished wheel would look different from the ones on the vehicle and it did. Seems that the wheels had been done before but they were left with a 'flat' finish rather than the OEM polished finish (face only). So now that I've seen AWR's work, I'm taking the car back to them so that the remaining wheels will all match. Did very good work and felt the price was reasonable. My 2 cents worth. read more

Originally, I called the parts department at Don Beyer Volvo in Dulles, VA to find out the cost of a new wheel rim. He told me that I could spend $600 for a new rim with them or I could see if Alloy Wheel Repair could fix it for much less. On Wednesday, I called Alloy Wheel Repair in Crofton, MD, and left a message. Billy called me back the next day apologizing for the delay in returning my call. He told me they could probably fix my rim for less than $175 ($175 was the max). The problem was that their shop is in Crofton, MD, and I live in Chantilly. Their shop isn't open on the weekends. So, I was trying to figure out an alternative. About 15 minutes later, Nick called. He just happens to work at the dealerships at Chantilly Auto Park, which is 10 minutes from my house. Nick said he would come pick up my tire and bring it back. I was sold! That afternoon (Thursday), Nick came by, took the tire off my vehicle and put the spare on. He was very professional and had a very nice and happy demeanor. I was promised a call about the tire in the morning (Friday). Billy and Nick told me I would get the tire back by Tuesday. Well, I get the call on Friday morning and they've already fixed my rim. It was bent in 3 places. Nick delivered my wheel & fixed rim at 10:15 am Friday morning (less than 24hours from when he picked it up Thursday afternoon). He put the tire back on, put the spare back in the trunk, and it cost me $150 total. I could not be more pleased with the service and the repair. Nick was kind enough to tell me how much pressure I need in my tires too. I would definitely recommend them to my family and friends and use them again. read more
