I called the Tires Plus location in Gambrills, Maryland about my college student who experienced problems with her tire, bought from Tires Plus, at 12 am the previous night. I explained that she attended school out of town and could only get her vehicle in today for a quick inspection. The customer service experience was unacceptable. The lady that I spoke with offered no options and said that she didn't even have time for walk ins. She was not interested at all in offering any solutions or alternatives and told me to just go to "any other Tires Plus or Firestone". It's unfortunate that purchasing 4 tires from an establishment does not afford you good service. Booked an appointment online at 8 am on a Saturday. Arrived on time. The tires that I wanted installed had been pre-ordered on tirerack.com and were confirmed have arrived earlier in the week. Dropped off the car and called, later, at 3:30 pm. The counter mechanic told me that someone was working on the car and it would be ready by closing time at 6 pm. Arrived at 5:30. They hadn't even started the tire replacement. They are closed Sunday so they won't start working on the car until Monday. They simply "ran out of time" was the excuse. No, I dont have a bunch of pictures to post, but I do have a story to tell. I have been coming this location for the past 5 years work tires, oil changes, etc. I have NEVER had any issues, so much so that I have referred to my family members. The staff is amazing and have always been. When i came back to this location after sometime, the old office staff was no longer there and i thought, okay.. i have to get to know these folks and hopefully they are as nice as the staff before, let me tell you, they were even better!!!.. I came in last month needing at least one tire because the air kept going out.. After I talked to Nicole and she came out to check my tires and was incredibly nice, I said okay...Let's change the 2 back tires, my oil and wiper blades.. he said no problem. I sat and waited for my car thinking, this might take a while and it didn't at all. I was in and out and with amazing customer service. Nicole said to me that when i was ready to come back and get the front tires, she would leave a not in the system so she would remember me and what I needed. I said 2 weeks, but with all that is going on, it took about a month for me to come back... I did on yesterday and Nicole was there, bright sun shining face and still incredibly nice... She remembered me. I got my two fronts tired and a alignment, what I loved was that they told me the alignment was off and that it was up to me, I never felt obligated to get anything. It wasn't even off that much but their customer service made me say, go for it.. give me the alignment. While I was there, my mom called and said... Where are you, I told her.. She said I need tires, I asked Nicole if she could look up tires for her while she was on the phone, she said definitely... She did, and I told my mom how nice they were and said okay, make me an appt for the next day. My mom lives in PG county, she could have actually gone to a tire plus closer to her but because I told her how nice they were, she decided to drive a little further out. My mom said to me... I want them to check to see if I need new tires first..When we got there this morning, again Nicole came out checked my mom's tires and said she needs 3, this one on the back is new.. I said I'm not sure lets ask... what I loved is that she didn't try to say we needed all 4 tires knowing that one was still good. She gave us the option. My mom wanting to have all 4 of the tires the same went on and got the 4. My mom also said it was because she told the truth about the tires... We left went and got breakfast Nicole called and said, that my mom's front breaks and rotors were bad and needed to be change. We came back to the shop and as my mom was only expecting to buy tires, she wasn't actually prepared or wanting to spend more.. Nicole suggested the tires plus card, explained everything about interest free for 6 month and allowed my mom to make the decision. My mom said okay... Once approved, my mom said well put it all on the card. And added a front end alignment. She was so happy that she didn't have to come out her pocket with cash at that moment. She thanked Nicoleand the whole front office staff. Robert, Dan and all the other guys that were in the back working. They were all so incredibly nice and made her experience an amazing one. I told this long story as I know that people have good and bad days..A rude customer or sometimes just personal things going on... If any of them in that office had that going on, we didn't and wouldn't have known as they made us feel like we were the only ones there (an we weren't). Kudos to the staff, please send our sincerest gratitude for their work especially during this time of stress that the whole country is going thru. I will never go anywhere else for service.. P.S, when we left, my mom said call them and find out if i can get some work done on my other car..I would rather come here.. Thanks again for all that you do and have done!!! read more

Got a flat tire on Friday 11/3/17 and took it to my neighborhood gas station but it couldn't be plugged so my guy put the spare on , off to work I went . I called 4 places and looked up reviews on Yelp . I spoke with Ricky and he was very helpful and friendly and their prices were a bit better then the others . Made the appointment for Saturday 11/4/17 @12:00pm. I arrived at 11:50am and they were very busy but I was helped immediately by Ricky . They told me it would be an hour and did I want to drop off or wait , I waited . Had some very nice conversations with the others waiting ( I'm a Realtor - that's what we do ) and at 1:05pm my two new tires were installed and they told me I was good to go ! I spent the day showing homes yesterday from Howard County To Annapolis and my car drove GREAT ! I can't believe what a difference new tires make ! I am from out-of-state (NC). However, I used to live in Crofton. I was visiting my husband for the holidays and made an appointment two weeks ago for an oil change and coolant flush. They requested that I drop my car at 8 am to have the repairs completed by the end of the day. I dropped my car off at the requested time, signed the required paperwork, and waited for a call. Eventually, closing time rolled around, so I gave them a call to see if it was ready for pick-up. Apparently, they had "completely forgotten" (their words) that my car was there and told me they would start it the next day. In addition, they told me that they didn't have time to wait for me to pick it up that night (I was a 7 min drive from the place), although I told them I was going back to NC early the next day. I told them they needed to wait until I got there. All of the employees were up front when I arrived. I asked for some sort of compensation. They said I would need to call the manager on Monday regarding this. I was very disappointed that they would treat a family (and a military family, at that), this way. I do not think I will be returning. The only reason I had decided to get my repairs done in the first place was because they gave me a free oil change for the last time they did the same thing. read more

Bought tires from Tirerack, this was a recommended installer, $17 dollars a tire, mounted and balanced. The Manager, Jenese carthens tried to charge me $185 for 4, saying that they do not need to honor Tirerack prices. Also stating that a 50 series tire is a low profile tire. She may be in the wrong business. Mr Tire knocked it out right up the street. Price gouging is absolutely disgusting is this day and age. read more

Very bad customer service at this location! was turned away from purchasing a tire and was lied to and told I had ALL bad tires when 3 were CONFIRMED brand new on paper, when I asked if I could purchase the one tire that needed repair, the rude guy at the front replied, "Nope!" And said I needed to purchase 4 new tires or I couldn't buy any, desperate attempt to try and get money out of me, didn't work. Stopped by on a Sunday to have my tire looked at (found a nail embedded in the tread). An employee took one look at the nail and said the tire was not pluggable and that it needed to be replaced. My tires were purchased from Costco so I decided I make the trip to the Arundel Mills location (it's not exactly close to Crofton so that is why I went to Tires Plus first - I would have been willing to pay them to plug it vs driving all the way to Hanover). Costco plugged the tire and had me out of there within an hour. I don't get it. Maybe the guy wasn't experienced enough to make the correct call? Maybe he was too busy and didn't feel like wasting his time with a plug... Who knows. Lesson learned: Next time, I'll just bite the bullet and drive to the Arundel Mills Costco for tire repairs. Made an appointment to have a tire replaced. Researched the tires needed, priced out the cost according to tiresplus.com (which stated the tires I needed were available at the Gambrills store), went in to have everything taken care of. Upon arrival I was informed that I needed a different tire rating (a tire rating that only a car that regularly drives over 100mph needs) that cost $40 more/tire. Even when shown proof that the higher rated tired was not needed, the employee insisted that he could not sell me the tires I had already vetted. Stuck between a rock & a hard place and working within a small time frame, I just sucked it up and paid more for the higher rated tires. I won't be going back to Tires Plus for tires ever again. And if you see me on 97 going 100mph+, it's because I'm making sure I'm getting my money's worth out of these tires. Think I can invoice my speeding tickets to Tires Plus? Edited to add: Upon further investigation, I discovered that the original tires that I priced out were indeed the rating that the sales person told me I needed. So he mislead me to believe that I needed more expensive tires when in fact I didn't. That's my fault for being a bad consumer. But unethical on his part. Service was pleasant and helpful in deciding the right tires for the car (I went away from the OEM and every other tire place I called wouldn't play ball). So-so: The tires and rims were dirty when I picked it up. Not that the car was clean to start but they got noticeably worse. No real negatives. read more

En route home late last Friday afternoon, I got a tire puncture. I managed to pull into Tires Plus, and they were lifesavers! Even though I didn't have an appointment they were able to fix the tire (as well as check the alignment, which I had been meaning to get done), all within an hour. I came in fairly urgently on a Sunday and they were able to take care of me in short order. Service met my expectations for a random tire shop on a Sunday. Time of service was great, and under their estimate. I've seen other negative reviews don't quite know if it's a fair indictment on this place. My experience was as good as anyone could ask for so perhaps there was a bad day or someone talked to the wrong person. I was hearing a squeaking noise when breaking my car. Took the car for an inspection and was told that all the rotors were warped and cut, and needed to be replaced. That didn't sound right, so I decided to drive it back home and check. All rotors were fine. I'm glad we didn't go with their service, it would have cost us hundreds of dollars for a problem that wasn't even there. Do not recommend this business. read more

Darrell and RIcardo went over and above and saved the day for us. 15 minutes before closing time on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, when most places would have happily closed early, I drove up with a tire distorted like a potato chip, huge hunk of tread missing and steel belt poking out. Instead of telling us to come back Monday, they replaced the tire (and its opposite) with decent Firestones at a great price ($73 each) and we were out of there in no more than a half hour. 1 star. The staff is down right rude. Went in to get my tire checked out after it was going flat. I was told I had a nail in my side wall. I knew I had to buy a new tire I asked for the pricing for the tire that would match the rest. They told me the only tire they had was $420 I asked them if they had any cheaper ones and they insisted they didn't until I had my mom call and ask which ones they had in stock and told her they had one for $120. I have been taking my car to this location for 2 years. I even recommended my friends and family to get oil changes done here! Can't beat $20-35 synthetic blend oil change PLUS free tire rotation. However, I have had issues a couple times with my lug nuts not being tightened and my wheel lock being loose. I usually have them double check to make sure the lug nuts are right before I drive away. I have trust issues now. Well 2 weeks ago I got an oil change and rotation and forgot to double check. I was driving and noticed my car was driving differently. I had my dad drive my car and he noticed something was off as well. We inspect the car and notice 2 of the lug nuts were completely missing, one being the wheel lock. Out of 20 lug nuts only ONE was tightened. When I told the manager the next day, he told me he would order me the lock key. I have not heard from him and when I called the man on the phone said he would call me back. Still haven't heard from him. Another thing! I called around looking for synthetic blend oil changes for $40 and found that most places charge $50+. So I called a different tires plus location and asked how much synthetic plus oil changes were. I was told $35. I asked him to look up my car in their system and asked what oil I have been using. He said synthetic blend UP UNTIL THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR WHEN THE COMPANY SWITCHED OIL BRANDS AND THEY DO NOT OFFER SYNTHETIC BLEND AT $19.99 anymore. Ok. I would pay $35 IF I WAS GIVEN THE OPTION AND TOLD THE OIL BRAND AND TYPE CHANGED!!!! So I've been driving 5,000 miles on regular oil thinking I have synthetic blend. It's frustrating because I have been believing I am getting something I am not! And finally!!! EVERY TIME I have gotten an oil change they don't snap my air filter back in its casing! It's a simple snap and I always just snap it back but why should I have to check the work of a mechanic isn't that what we pay them for??? I made an appointment for Sunday, May 12, 2019 for 9:00 am to have my brakes on my car inspected at the Crofton TiresPlus location. I thought that I may have needed to get them replaced because I would hear an occasional grinding sound when I would apply my brakes. The attendant was pleasant enough. I told her that my driver's side tag light was out and was wondering if the mechanic could look at it. After about 2 1/2 hours of looking at my vehicle, the attendant explained to me that all my brakes needed to be replaced and that my rear calipers were leaking brake fluid. The cost to fix my car? $1700.00. The price seemed high to me, so I called my husband. After much discussion, we decided to forgo the repairs and seek a second opinion. Finally, after another hour of waiting, my car was ready. I paid the inspection fee ($9.99) and left the shop. We took my vehicle to a different independent car repair shop, one that my father has taken his vehicles to for various repairs over the past 30 years, the following day. After looking at my vehicle, the mechanic called me to inform me that there was nothing wrong with my brakes and my brake line was not leaking brake fluid as the attendant from the TiresPlus shop had told me two days prior. The grinding noise was a piece of metal out of alignment between the brakes and the rotors. The cost to fix my car? $60.00. I can only come to one of two conclusions about the Crofton TiresPlus shop: either they have hired unlicensed, uncertified, uneducated car mechanics, in which, TiresPlus may want to think about amending their hiring practices, or this shop uses unscrupulous practices in which they lie and scare their customers into paying for services that may not be needed at all to make more money for the shop. Either way, I will tell everyone I know and do not know to not to go to this shop or patronize this business chain. read more

Took my Toyota Highlander in due to hearing a squealing noise from my front brakes and thought I may need my brake pads replaced. I then get presented with a $369.00 estimate telling me my rotors were seized up and had to be replaced and my brake pads were bad. I declined as my wife's a business manager for Carmax and I wanted another estimate. My rotors and pads were perfectly fine and I just needed my brake pads adjusted. I paid $59.00 at Carmax for the service. Tires Plus, you don't get loyal customers by lying and taking advantage of people! I'll never use your establishment and you should really be ashamed of your establishment for trying to rob people of their hard earned money. read more

I had 4 tires mounted on 10/18/16. I had an appointment and was told it would take 1 hour. Two and a half hours later the car was ready. As I got in my car and pulled out on to 301, the hood flew up!!! They had checked fluids and such and then didn't shut the hood securely. I pulled over, secured the hood and drove on. As I got up to about 50mph, the front end and steering wheel of my car started shaking horribly. I called the company and told them that I think they forgot to balance the tires. I was told it was standard procedure and that maybe a weight fell off and was asked if I'd like to make an appointment to come back in 3 or so days!!! WHAT??? 3 days?!?!?! When I finally got home and my husband went out to look at the tires, we had noticed that the hubcaps were severely scratched up, especially on 2 of them. I called them on a Tuesday, asking for advice on replacing tires on my car. I talked to Shawn, and he walked me through the pros and cons of a couple of different tire options. He quoted me a price (that was about $600 cheaper than the dealership for comparable tires). He assured me that they had the tires in stock, and ready to install. I was able to make an appointment for the very next morning. The next morning rolls around, and I'm stuck in traffic on my way to the shop. I called to let them know, and they reassured me that it wouldn't be a problem. When I arrived, I was greeted by Greg, who walked outside with me to actually look at each of my tires, and confirm my suspicions that the tires were getting low, and wearing unevenly. He then went on to explain to me exactly why that can happen. He once again walked me through the options I was looking at, and gave me a quote, outlining exactly how much the service could cost at most. I walked across the way to Dunkin Donuts and got myself a snack and some coffee, and then came back and waited less than an hour. The rest of the staff was very friendly, and my car showed up cleaner than it was when I went in. Buying tires sucks... no one wants to have to spend money on something like that unexpectedly, but the process of buying them and getting them installed shouldn't be bad, and the team currently working at the Crofton Tires Plus made it as painless as it could be.
