The staff ruined my nails by improperly scraping off a gel manicure. They barely left the acetone on at all and then scraped harshly, leaving my previously perfectly strong/healthy nails in a brittle, thin, flaky mess. I had never had a gel manicure removed before, so I was wary and unsure of how the process was supposed to go, but I could immediately tell this was wrong. When I questioned the technique and pointed out that the nail tech was damaging my nails, the other staff woman who was advising me got an attitude. She also had the nerve to suggest I get another gel manicure to cover and strengthen my now-damaged nails. No, thank you. I immediately went to another salon and recounted my experience, and they confirmed that they removed it incorrectly and too forcefully. I can only hope and pray that my nails grow back to their normal strength and health, but for now, they flake and chip at the slightest touch. read more

I'll start the bad review I was already going write by saying that I really almost think the woman who gave me my pedicure dislocated my pinky toe or something. It's been weeks and I'm still in pain. My manicure didn't even last 24 hours. She went SO slow doing it and didn't get anywhere close to the cuticles on any side and I thought maybe it was her method so it would last longer and not peel? Wrong! Ok, now my big complaint. I got a GC here and attempted to use it 3 times! This place is nowhere near my house and I explained to them that I am never in the area. The first 2 times, they took a wedding party and reserved the entire place! Ok, if you're gonna do that, you should either close down for them or do it after hours. The second time I tried to use it, I was leaving for vacation the next day and I had to go pay cash someplace else. They refused to even let me wait and take me after, saying that they had young kids and couldn't stay late. They kept asking if I could come back the next day. What don't you get about the fact that I keep saying I live 45 minutes away anyways and my flight is at like 5am? The thing that kills me about the whole above scenario was that my cousin got married and tried to book this place for the day before her wedding weeks ahead of time and do you know what they told her? They said, "we don't do that. We have regular customers that could come in. You'll have to take your chances." And we did. Most of us couldn't get things we wanted because they didn't have the time, and they kept taking regulars without appointments before us! I'm sorry, is this a clique??? read more

Mani was ok, please stop haranguing customers about gel This place is clean and pleasant. A little understaffed and disorganized when I visited. The biggest problem is a trend I notice in all nail salons now: they really don't want to give a regular, old-fashioned manicure. My tech tried 3 times to get me to switch to gel. Very irritating. I got a mani/pedi gel nails. I used "gelish" I personally dont like OPI because the colors arent true plus they peel off faster. My mani lasted for 2 weeksish. Service was good. Even though there were a couple clients waiting (some appts) they didn't rush to finish my service which is good. Ample parking, relaxing environment. I have been here several times now. They always do a good job on my nails. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the service. No one is particularly friendly and when they were trying to upsell me to try the gel manicure they woman didn't speak enough English to answer my questions about what exactly the gel was. It's an ok place. The only good thing for me is that it is walking distance from my house. They do not have the gel colors displayed on fake nails like every other place I've been, so unless you know the color you don't know what you're getting. From what I have learned they do not care too much for walk-ins. And as far as quality goes, the inside of nails never get painted and that is a pet peeve of mine. Get the whole nail, not just the top. And not once have they ever checked on me after sending me to dry my hands under the light. I went here to get my eye brows done. I told the lady right before hand that I have sensitive skin and if there is anything she can so I do to not brake out afterwards. She looked confused and said, "okay." She did not use lotion before or after or do anything to make it less painful. If anything it seemed like she was in a hurry. I now have two huge rashes above my eyebrows. I have had my nails done here before and that was all fine and dandy, but I am never getting my eye brows done here again. I popped in for a pedi, as I wasn't feeling well and needed a pick me up. The girl who did my piggies was sweet and took her time. There were people waiting, but she did not rush. When I say thorough, it is an understatement. The scrub was about 5 minutes each leg. Straight. That doesn't even include the massage. At that point, the paint job could have been awful, and I still would have been happy. But it was lovely. So pretty. And she fixed and ingrown as well. With no pain. I tried this salon for the first time a few days ago and I must say I was pleasantly surprised! Everything was very clean and sterile. Staff was extremely helpful and took her time and I was very happy with the finished product. A gel mani was $30, and luckily they do not charge to remove old gel. I stated going to Allure from a recommendation by a close friend. It's so hard to find shops with skilled technicians that know how to work with acrylic. Most today are all about gels and the new powder dip. I found the place to be immaculate and the owner, Vanessa, extremely accommodating. I explained to her that I have zero patience for shops that rush people who take the time and make appointments due to walk-ins. She assured me they do not engage in that and will ask a walk-in to come back if someone's not free verses rushing their current customer. It's been 4 months and so far this has been honored. Vanessa's freehand artwork is amazing. Please see the picture of the Pat's symbol she drew for the Superbowl for me. You pick a picture from her phone and she can duplicate it to the letter. Her attention to detail with shaping the nails is fantastic, and her new husband, Jack who also works there, likes to pride himself as being responsible for her talent. I've seen his work too and he's equally talented. Their spa pedicures are relaxing and you get a wonderful leg and foot message. I absolutely love this shop and I've tried many in the Melrose, Wakefield, Saugus, and Lynn area. None came close to Vanessa's consistency, kindness, and reasonable pricing. read more

I came in as a walk in and was very quiet with a packed house. Which was odd. While I waiting the manicurist told me to pick a color. I asked these are shellac polish? She said yes, all of them are. They were gel polish from opi. They weren't shellac. I got up and said I changed my mind. There's no way I'm letting someone do my nails especially if they don't know the difference between nail polishes. read more

I will admit right away that I do not get manicures on the regular. However, I recently got engaged and everyone kept telling me I must go for a manicure, MUST! So I go into Allure, never have been here before but it's convenient and I drive by it all the time. First, they don't have many nail polishes to chose from. They are all thrown together on what appears to be their front desk area. I wanted a cute winter blue and some silver sparkles on my ring fingers. No silver sparkle nail polish. I ask the guy who will be painting my nails and he keeps handing me different shades of gold sparkles. I keep telling him that's gold, not silver. Is this a language barrier, Im not sure? We finally settle on a multi colored sparkle but I was seriously considering just walking out the door at this point and I really should have listened to my instinct. I want to put it out there that the guy that ended up giving me this manicure was nice enough. Tried to have light conversation although I had to ask him to repeat himself a lot and most of the time he just tried to up sell me on the gel nailpolish even though I continuesly let him know that I was happy with what I chose and would not be trying the gel this time. Okay, he was nice "enough" but he really should consider a new profession. This is the worst manicure I have ever had. I am wondering if he purposly sabotaged me because I wouldn't get the gel polish! Within HOURS they were cracking and chipping off... I know this is not normal. I could have done a better job myself. Have gone to Allure for many years now and always get a great mani/pedi. I love the ambiance and interaction with all the staff. I have made some good personal friends there that go on Sat. morning early.. Today I added a new service; a facial and eyebrow tint/wax with Kim - It was excellent! The products very nice, not overly scented but pleasant smelling. The treatment was in a nice relaxing room with a lavandar candle and soft music. I could have stayed there all day! The treatment was very professional, lots of relaxing massage included. My skin and brows look fabulous! A wonderful way to spend a rainy Sat. morning with a lovely lady that made me look and feel great! I will add this sevice to my perosnal beauty routine at Allure! Thanks Kim!! read more

I have been having my mani pedi here sine 2008 and have never been disappointed. Colors are up to date and Jackie is very knowledgable about nails and correct applications. The salon is very clean and the tubs are washed after each pedicure. The chairs for pedicures are brand new and very state of the art. No one should ever say this salon is unclean. I have been going to allure for years until they changed owners, so I found another nail salon that I love called place 2 be, I found out that the owner of place 2 be bought allure so i decided since allure was closer to my house that I would just try it and see, well what a mistake. I called last week and made an appointment to see Vanessa for last night and was told i was all set. When I walked in the girl told me Vanessa was not there. So not only was I lied to on the phone but I had to see someone else, which I really didn't want. I decided to give this girl a chance. The girl who did my nails was awful, she wasn't paying attention too busy looking around and doing everything but my nails. She filed my nails down and half of the nails were shorter than the rest. My 2 thumb nails were broken on the side so she used superglue to fix it but got super glue all over my whole thumb nail and my skin. Then she decided to use acrylic on my thumb which after she superglued the hell out of my thumb she dipped it in the acrylic. Now my real nail is warped and has a huge dent in it. She then proceeded to dig under my thumb nail to try to remove the glue and ended up cutting underneath my nail. My thumb is now in so much pain. I believe this girl has never done nails in her life because she kept stumbling around trying to find things in the salon and she definitely seemed to not know what she was doing. Safe to say I will NEVER go to this place again, I'm mad I even wasted my $30. If your looking for a good salon I recommend going to place 2 be instead. Stay far away! read more

This nail salon is a quaint cozy spot you're gonna love. Their signature lemongrass scented hot towels always gives you a relaxed spa feeling. Their manicures are done well and the paint does not and will chip for over a week. I love that! And I only get my brows waxed there because they do a phenomenal job. I've gone here several times and for the most part I have had excellent service. However, today I had a new woman do my nails. She trimmed them too short, cut my finger, tried to glue my finger back together with superglue then filed down the crooked cutting to expose my nail beds. My nails are still crooked and my finger still hurts. The pain was everywhere. She was barefoot and had dirty nails. As impressed as I was before, I don't think I will return after that awful experience. read more

I've now been driving from Needham to Saugus for four years and am so glad I found this place. (I've tried other salons in my area but they are more expensive and the nail polish only last a few days.) I only get a pedi and it is so relaxing. The nail polish is applied so expertly that it lasts for weeks, if not months. The one thing I appreciate is that the place is clean and doesn't smell like chemicals, like most salons do.
