COVID RATING- I'll give it 2 stars: the manager was not wearing her mask and would walk around the salon without the mask. She would only put a mask on when working with a customer and would not sanitize. The other 2 women were wearing masks. Also, rules were not really enforced with people coming in and out. Nail experience (4 stars): I appreciated the amount of time they took on my nails. There's not a lot of nail color options. Staff are friendly. I would return after COVID. I live in the neighborhood and like to support neighborhood businesses. Filled out a request for an appointment on the website 2 weeks ahead and no one ever contacted me to schedule. I called around 2pm and was able to drive right over for a shellac manicure. The process was meticulous and the man who did my nails was kind and asked me questions about myself. I was the only customer there which was sort of nice compared to other salons that can be loud or crammed with clients. Although the ladies are very nice, I'm really disappointed with my latest experience! 1. My acrylic nails look awful. She didn't clean my real nails and just added to it. 2. It's been 3 days and the polish is starting to chip off. 3. She was the only one trying to take care of two customers at the same time! 4. Being in a rush caused for her to cut me in two different fingers when filing! My nails still hurt with the cuts 5. The polish under my nails are chipped and look like my 5 year old niece did them. I'm definitely not satisfied and suggest going to another salon. For starters, the lady doing my bad nail job was sick. She was coughing multiple times and was coughing up phlegm. She was nice, but should be home healing, not potentially spreading illness. She also used the automatic file SO much ( 4-5 times). I'm surprised I still have nails at all. And it burned me a few times. Very uncomfortable and nowhere else has ever done it that much. Then, the color I thought I picked out is not what it actually became on my nails. It looked like a pretty bright yellow and turned out to be a mustard color.... Not happy. And the nail job has a few minor flaws too. I came here for the past few months for gel manicures and they are always very nice and did a great job, until last time my cuticle got cut very badly. I asked them to stop and they continued to cut. This place is amazing. I used to go to Julies Nails in Davis Sq. for a reasonable mani-pedi...but City Nails is SO much better. First of all, the place is brand new, including the massaging chairs. And, it looks much more spa-like that your run-of-the-mill strip mall nail salon. I think the name of the lady that did my mani/pedi was Lily, and she was great. She was sweet, careful and precise and I ended up getting one of the best mani/pedis I've ever had (including from higher priced salons)... all for $28! Oh, and a huge bonus: all the magazines in the place were new and up to date, not torn to shreds like a lot of other places I've been. If you're in the area, I'd really encourage you to give this place a try. Its a local business and they're just getting started, but the quality is so much better than a lot of the old stand-bys. read more

This place is great for a quickie mani/pedi. They have great colors, and they do a good, sometimes really good job. The thing I like the most about this place is that they always have the BEST colors to choose from. A whole wall of OPI AND China Glaze which I love, lots of bright, funky colors. What I don't like about this place is that I would say 4 out of 5 times I have been there, they rush, and it's obvious they rush. They'll take you and then leave you sitting with your feet in lukewarm water for 15 minutes while they take someone else and rush through their manicure. When they finally get to you, it's obvious they are rushing through your service as well just to get to the next person. If you don't have time to take me, tell me to come back at a certain time. I don't mind that. But don't charge me $25 for a 1/2 hour pedicure and give me a 2 second foot/leg massage. If the pedis were like $5 cheaper I wouldn't mind so much, but I can go up the street and for an extra $10 get an awesome, luxurious pedicure where I don't feel like they are rushing me out of the place. So, to sum up, if you just want a no nonsense pedi in a short amount of time with a fun color, this place is for you. If you want to feel pampered, it's not. read more

I noticed afterwards a couple of spots missing paint towards the end of my nail, and substantial cracks in 2 other nails, not to mention polish all over my fingers. The service is really great and I have known the people for a while now... If you're bored and have nothing to do and you happen to drive by you can easily just park and walk on in... They get you going right away... One time they even offered us pizza they had bought for themselves.. It was so kind and thoughtful.. I love their work.. They always try to do there best but i must admit that on some occasions they we in a rush and my nails didn't come out exactly the way i wanted them too.. But I must say they know how to pamper you... With their massage chairs and all brand new equipment you feel so clean and relaxed. I only go there for my nails and feet though... I had gone there to wax my brows once and they were not the way I really wanted them... Although they have theirs cons I am going to say that their pros outweigh them and I proudly suggest that many new people should go on in and give them a try. The ladies there are so cute. It was my birthday so I decided to go on my handy dandy yelp app to search for a nail salon around the area. I got a gel manicure and I really love wine-colored nails in the winter, so I asked her to suggest something along that color. Turned out perfect, I should've taken a pic! I also tend to cut my nails shorter then usual because I hate having long nails, but the lady that did my nails suggested that I leave em a tad longer so the manicure could last longer. Makes sense! I had her 3 times that I came to do my mani and pedi and eyebrows. So, one day I go there and only her ousin is there. I go for my regular bur decide to get a full set. I told her full set but imsteadi get a manicure. Than my eyebrows werent done well at all. There were stray hhairs evrrywhere. I had to fix it when I got home.. I love City Nails Spa. I came here on a Sunday when my regular nail person stood me up. I needed somewhere local that was open on a Sunday in August, so hard to find. On a friends recommendation I gave it a try. It is without a doubt the cleanest shop I have ever been to. The decor is very nice, the chairs comfortable and the polishes are great. She had all the new colors from OPI and Essie. I needed a new acrylic toe nail put on and after 10 yrs of getting them, I finally have one that looks real. I really do love this shop. I also tried getting a polish change on the day of my prom and it typically takes 10min for a polish change it's nothing toi major and she tells me there's a wait. What I like to do is gett my pedicures at Nails and Co (Station Landing) because it is well worth the extra $10 to get an AMAZZZING massage/relaxation for 45 minutes.
