I'm giving two stars because my pedicure was ok but my manicure was AWFUL. The woman doing my nails was in a huge rush but I'm not sure why because it was not busy. I was done at least 15 minutes before my friend who was getting the same thing done. She was way too aggressive with the cuticle cutter and made me bleed twice. It was pretty painful and now three days later I have weird scabs on two my cuticles. I thought they should have given me some sort of discount for something like this but all I got was "sorry." I don't think she really understood how to use the cuticle cutters correctly or that she had actually hurt me. The polish also chipped within a day of my manicure. I had stopped by the salon just a few days ago to get a manicure since it's just been so long since I've gotten one! I was in the area and wanted to give it a try. I have to say, the staff greeted me and taken me right away as I came in the door. My first impression of the salon was that it was very clean, busy, and visually attractive. The woman that did my nails had done it swiftly and was very friendly and outgoing. She had done a great job! My nails were very neat and the polish had lasted me about 2 weeks. Clean place and they take appointments but I had a few issues with a pedicure here: 1- limited color selection 2- pedicure was half what I expected. I went here a couple days ago for a pedicure and gel French manicure. My sister and I called to schedule an hour ahead of time and only had to wait for the water to fill for the pedicures. The salon seemed clean and the woman working on my nails was friendly. The negatives were that she did not use a base coat for the pedicure and she cut/filed my cuticles a little too far on one of my toes and on one of my fingers. I wanted to find a really nice and friendly spa like nail salon for myself, daughter and granddaughter. My kids were visiting from Naples, FL and I wanted to treat them to a day of pamper. I live in St. Joseph, MI and don't care for the salons here as they are not the type to pamper you, just a hurry in and hurry out so I decided to drive the 45 minutes out of town to find a nice salon. We looked at the reviews and decided to try Allure Nails. Unfortunately I've decided this salon is not a right fit for me. Everything was good upon entering and choosing the color. I wanted a gel mani and a regular pedi while my daughter did a dip mani and a regular pedi. I thought they offered more and what they did but I guess they don't. Wish I would not have assumed they did. My mistake there. After the pedi I went to the girls table and she was so fast at what I was having done. I was not prepared for that. The way she was doing my nails for a gel was so different than I always have done. When she put the last coat on, for some reason my thumbs did not get dry and when I went to get my card to pay they messed up so I had to have them redone and then when I was told they were good to go, I leave and go to get my keys out of my pocket and they messed up again...no I did not go back in and have them redo them over...why bother...it shouldn't have happen in the first place let alone twice. When I go to get pampered I expect it to be a really nice time and enjoyable. This was not one of those times unfortunately and I won't be going back. More research for the place I am expecting to get pampered. I will pay the price for a very relaxing and enjoyable day of pampering. Make sure they let you stay in the nail dryer for the full time that is needed. read more

They are incredibly sharp and we're not filed down smoothly. Also after looking at them closely, you can see my real nail on the sides of multiple of them. DIRTY FILTHY SALON AND TABLES!! I had acrylic nails done yesterday and they aren't great. Not smooth. Can see ridges thru polish. The woman was impatient. She kept jerking my hand because I wasn't holding it straight. She left acrylic stuck to the sides of my fingers. Felt like it was glued. I mentioned it but she just kept going and didn't fix it. She was station 15. Lana I think was her name. I told her I wanted the acrylic to be thin and it isn't. Thick and wonky looking!! I will be having them redone this week. The nail tips are slightly too small as well so they just look weird. She barely spoke English and wore a mask the entire time so I couldn't understand her as well. After having them painted and started drying I noticed how bad some of them looked and asked to have them filed down on the sides a little. Just so thick and bubbly looking. The man who helped me was a little pleasant but seemed unhappy. This place was also filthy!! The table I was at had powder and film all over. My hands were sitting in filth. Seems like this place is more concerned with quantity of customers rather than quality of work. Came here for no-chip removal and a regular manicure. The manicure felt rushed and I walked out of the salon with an uneven paint job on my thumbnail, some missed spots, and several nails with little air bubbles after drying. I have been to other places which provide much higher quality work for the same (or cheaper) price. Will not be coming here again. read more

Allure is great and they're CLEAN. The welcome me by name and they get to know you. Their prices are a couple dollars cheaper I believe then the places in the mall. They take walk-ins but I try to make an appointment. I've gone to almost every technician at some time or another but Maeve is incredible. She listens and does exactly what you want and her nail art skills are far superior to any I've seen in this area. I recommend making an appointment with her, she books up. I've never had a bad experience, but there are certain people I like better than others, as with everywhere and everyone has their own strengths. I have been coming here for over 2 years, previously I have gone to 5+ comparable salons and also a couple higher end salons also that have nail technicians. I get a mix of Shellac, Acrylic sets and pedicures. I've refereed numerous friends here and they're all clients now as well. Highly recommended. read more

If I could, I'd give zero stars. Worst nail job I've ever had done. I now have crooked nails, paint isnt smooth & you can see right through, and also have polish all over my hands as she never cleaned up around the nails. I got a full set ombré 2 days ago, the nails were not the same size and shape and today 3 nails have came off already. I called and asked if they could take all the nails and redo them and do them the right way and they ignored the fact that it's only been 2 days. The lady said if you hit your nail it can come off. This was the WORST manicure I've ever received. I forget the name of the women who did my nails but she cut me open at least four times while trying to sand down my nails. In two places I was bleeding enough to drip down my finger. I mentioned that she should just skip those fingers but she proceeded to paint over them and I SAW MY BLOOD ALL ON THE NAIL BRUSH AS SHE PUT IT BACK IN THE BOTTLE. It was the most unsanitary thing I've ever seen. Even in pain she continued to file over the places she cut open and I was ready to just walk out because it was the most painful experience. It is a week later and two of the cuts seem swollen and infected. Never going back to this place. Paid way too much money for such terrible and unsanitary service. read more

After a week of packing and moving and driving a scary ass u-haul van I needed a pedicure STAT. But I decided to wait until I was on a weekend getaway to south bend with my cousin to visit our old college stomping grounds. Pickins were a bit slim but this is a tiny town. We chose this one kinda randomly but also cuz it's close to the mall- our next destination cuz hello, lower sales tax than Chicago and they finally have a J.Crew and sephora! We were the only ones at first- walk in's. They're Vietnamese with a token white person cuz we can understand what they were saying amongst each other, nothing was about us besides asking in english if we're from Oregon because of our Oregon plates on the car ;) and thank goodness because of course it's a turn off when you hear employees talking shit. My only complaint is that their color selection was tragic and I regretted not bringing my own recent essie polish purchase. Perhaps they were trying to keep with the theme of this section of the United States where it's a time warp and it's just stuck in the late 80s to mid 90s. I was struggling to find a color to my liking and I'm not a pink girl. It's a quick, simple pedicure but they did a really good job. We were both impressed! The paint job was awesome and I've been plenty disappointed in Chicago. Besides a stellar paint job, it lasted for weeks! My cousin and I text each other about how fantastic our toes still look days and weeks later. Bravo to that Mishawaka. 25 bucks gets you a pedicure. I told my cousin we should give other nail places in town a try but she reminded me that we might not want to gamble because they did such a great job here. Nothing's worse than a paint job you coulda done yourself at home or one that looks like a child did it. Just bring your own color if you like more updated colors. read more

Due to the limited options in nail salons within the area, I've given this place 3 chances to have a good experience. Yet, they completely SUCK; and I'll never return! Nor will I recommend this place to anyone. The first time that I went to Allure Nails the salon owner did my nails. I had recently received bad news (my husband had been diagnosed with a rare & aggressive cancer)...and I wanted to treat myself to a "relaxing" mani/pedi to take my mind off of it for a bit. I came into the salon with long, beautiful nails, that have been manicured every 2 weeks for the past 2 decades! I have a regular salon tech, that I've gone to for years, from another salon...but she was on maternity leave. So, I was trying someplace new. Yet, she tortured my cuticles by cutting them SO close, that they all bleed...and every time that I'd say, *ouch" &/or pull my hand back (due to her nicking my cuticle), she would say "you're okay, you're okay". Then,,,, I had asked for soft, squared nails (just like I had already had). Although, she filed my nails to ugly, crooked, narrow points! By the time she had corrected them, I had no nails left to work with!! Soooo, she suggested acrylic (which I believe UPGRADING was her plan, all along!). Needless to say, I agreed. The end result was that my nails didn't look awful but, they also didn't look great. Two weeks later, I had decided to give her salon another chance. Yet, this time, I'd go to another tech...definitely, NOT THE OWNER. So, I went to "Kat"...and wow, what a tremendous improvement in skill set!! However, Kat was pregnant...and all that she did was bitch about how miserable she was & how awful her kids were & how everyone in the salon annoyed her (including her coworkers, her boss AND her clients! Hello?!?! What the heck!! I'm a "client"! Geez)! I guess that the idea of going into a salon to, "relax & treating myself to an hour of peace and tranquility" was thrown out the window...but who cares bc my nails looked pretty good, this time. My third visit was scheduled with Kat, 2 weeks later. This was the "NAIL IN THE COFFIN" experience!! I had brought a friend, against my better judgment...and I should've trusted my instincts bc, everything that could go wrong, DID. The salon owner, Kat & a guy that works there, were SO unbelievably rude and offensive...from the very moment that we arrived, until we left that hell hole. I'm not going to call them out on all that took place on that day but, there was a big ta-do (or argument) that transpired amongst the owner & her employees, that ended in screaming and over half of their clients all standing up, at the same time, and walking out of the salon...my friend & I, included. I've never given a review before...nor did I think that I ever would. This happens to be the exception. As, I strongly recommend others, to avoid this place, like the plague. There are other salons that will value your patronage...and they will conduct themselves in a professional manner. I would give "Allure Nails" zero stars...but I believe that you have to give, at least, one star, to write a Yelp review. Btw, I absolutely Yelp! I've been here twice and had a poor experience both times. It's not cheap either, so I really would have expected better. The first time (I would give it 3 stars), I had an appointment and got there a few minutes early. They were VERY busy and I ended up finally getting started about 40-45 minutes after my appointment time. The man did a decent job on my nails, but seemed very rushed and almost careless. He wasn't too talkative, which is fine, but at times came off as unfriendly. I think part of it may have been that the place was pretty hectic at the time, but it wasn't a great experience overall. The second time was much worse (1 star), and after that I will not go back here. I came in slightly over an hour before closing and there was only one person working. She informed me rather rudely that since it wasn't busy, she wanted to close early and go home. She ended up doing my nails but made me feel like it was a big inconvenience. I then asked if they offered a student discount (not an inappropriate question, as many places do) and she responded very rudely to my question with something like "what, are the prices not good enough for you already?". I would like to use an adjective other than rude to describe how she addressed me, but it's really the best description. She was unpleasant and RUDE the whole time. I don't think she smiled once and she really made me feel very uncomfortable. The whole time I really just wanted to get out of there... and she clearly did too, since she rushed through the whole thing. I just moved to this area. After reading all of the reviews I decided to give this place a try! In the middle of the day on a Tuesday the place was decently busy but nothing crazy. I was asked to sit at the pedicure chair.. I waited 30 minutes for someone to finally come over. She lightly scrubbed the bottom of my feet and walked away... Another 19 minutes later she comes back and cuts a few of my cuticles then drains the water!!! Keep in mind it's been a good 6 months since my last pedicure! My poor feet needing a deep scrubbing and a lot of detail work.. My husband would have done a better job. After a quick massage she painted my toes. This took so long that I didn't have time for my manicure! I will never be back again! read more

Excellent place. I've never felt strong enough to leave comments, but this salon was so great I just had to. The prices are low. I've never had an appointment, but i've never had to wait too long because they have a large enough staff. Their work is beautiful and they seem to take a lot of pride in getting their nails to look right. They are very meticulous, but that doesn't mean they take a long time.
