The food is delicious, the brisket is super tender! And probably some of the best foods I've ever had!! I totally recommend this place.

Smoked Brisket Taco, Baja Fish Taco and Baja Cauliflower Taco (L to R).

While in Long Beach for the day, I was looking for a great midday lunch spot and stumbled upon the newly-opened (6 months) Alma Tacos. Right away, the space is light, bright and super welcoming. Family-owned and very friendly service makes you feel important as soon as you walk in through the doors. The space is huge. Lots of comfortable chairs, booths and seating inside, as well as wonderful covered patio seating outside, Alma can accommodate a lot of hungry customers. The menu is simple, but the authenticity and the quality of fresh ingredients is layered and full of depth. The tacos are out of this world! Homemade corn and flour tortillas (yes, you can taste the difference), and some tantalizing fillings make for a fiesta of the senses. On this visit, o decided to try three of the crowd favorites (Smoked Brisket, Baja Cauliflower and Baja Fish). Also, for a sweet touch, added on the homemade Churro basket as well. Within a few minutes, my order was brought out to the table by one of the friendly family members and right away, the colors and attractiveness of the tacos looked extremely appetizing. Be prepared to lick your fingers at Alma, because you will want to get every last bite. The smoked brisket taco was delicious and packed full of meet and ingredients. Tons of guacamole, salsa roja, cilantro and onion, the taco was might tasty...and quite messy. The Baja Cauliflower taco was surprising and delicious. Deep fried cauliflower, cabbage pico, picked onions, chipotle aioli, cilantro and mango-lime butter top this vegetarian delight. Again, no shortage of toppings for this taco. Outstanding. Finally, the Baja Fish taco is a deep fried tilapia piece with pineapple pico de gallo, cabbage, queso fresco, cilantro and chipotle aioli. Simple but full of flavor and packed with ingredients. I can't say this enough: these tacos are full of ingredients and don't skimp on any flavors. The Churro Basket was fantastic as well. Four homemade churros to share (or enjoy solo...I won't tell), that are deliciously soft, cinnamony and the perfect deep-fried exterior. A great way to close out an awesome experience. Alma Tacos is a great family-owned, well-executed taco joint in Long Beach. Plenty of parking in a giant retail mall area, and large indoor and outdoor spaces to welcome lots of hungry customers. One gender-neutral restroom and ADA ramp access to the front door of the restaurant. The team is super friendly, a cohesive family unit, and the food is fantastically executed and priced well. Thank you for making me feel valued and appreciated. I'll be back.

Delicious food at Alma's Tacos. Very fresh all made from scratch and you can tell! Everything is house made including the tortillas. And their churros with chocolate ganache are amazing! I got the smoked brisket which was super smoky like a real BBQ joint and the cauliflower which was fried then dressed like a fish taco with pickled onions. Outside patio dining is available. Reasonable prices. I want to go back to try their other tacos. The friendly staff they are working on adding some new specials on the menu. Highly recommended!

WOAH THAT THAI TACO!!! We keep coming back to Alma Tacos, and they never cease to amaze us! At this point, it feels less like just going out to eat and more like visiting friends. The staff has become so familiar with our family and even our youngest kiddo's order. Aside from the friendly service, our absolute favorite thing about this place is how they keep the menu fresh. They feature new items every so often, so there's always an excuse to try something different. Yesterday, we tried their featured Thai taco, and it was easily the best taco we've ever had here. The flavor profile was a total delight perfectly balanced and so incredibly tasty. If you haven't been here yet, you're missing out. And if you have, keep an eye on their specials. Alma Tacos just keeps getting better! PS: please keep the Thai taco!!!

Visiting my family in Long Beach today, ordered tacos for takeout. They are so generous filling the double tortillas that you can actually split each one into two!! They did not have the chili beef today so I ordered the brisket and smoked chicken and my husband ordered the chile verde pork and the brisket also. My brother went to pick them up and they were ready on time and the staff is helpful. My sister-in-law made a cabbage and kale salad and provided lime tortilla chips with salsa and guacamole on the side and it was a full delicious satisfying meal! We'll definitely be back!! Can't wait to try the chili beef which is apparently packed with super flavor!! Highly recommend!!

Baja Fish Taco a single fish nugget

I want to like this place. It's so close to the house and has potential. Unfortunately, the staff won't improve and the value is laughable. I paid $17 for two fish tacos and a coke. The fish tacos literally have one small fish nugget in them. What's worse, when I called to place the order they didn't even answer. I was sitting outside the restaurant so I went in and the girl who came out to take my order seemed bothered someone was there. Keep in mind the place was empty. It seems like if you have enough similar complaints about how your staff treat people, you'd make some changes. I won't be going back.

Service was excellent. Friendly staff who know their menu and will help you choose something if you're unsure! The indoor restaurant and outdoor patio were clean and spacious. If you prefer the outdoors on a beautiful day, the front patio has no cover and the back patio is covered. We ordered 5 different tacos since it was our first time visiting: smoked brisket taco, fish taco, chile verde taco, smoked chicken taco, and creamy tinga taco. The smoked brisket taco was moist and had a good smoky flavor. The fish taco had a crispy crust and it was on the sweeter side due to the pineapples. The chile verde taco didn't have much flavor, but it was lightly spicy. The smoked chicken was Smokey like the brisket but with small chunks of chicken. Lastly, the chicken tinga had a texture that I wasn't familiar with, which made it a bit odd. After all the tasting, our two favorites were the fish taco and smoked brisket. I've heard that the churros were good, so I ordered some. The crunch was perfect, but it had a bit too much sugar for my palette, so after I shook some sugar off, it tasted better! Overall, friendly service and great space. I grew up eating Mexican street tacos, so this fusion of tacos is different and if you're into the fusion, you'll enjoy this spot!

Stopped by this new LB taco spot today and was pleasantly surprised. Everything tasted fresh and full of flavor...and fittingly, the place is called Alma, which means "soul" in Spanish, because these tacos definitely had some soul in them. The smoked brisket taco was the star -- topped with a mild salsa that let all that smoky goodness shine through instead of covering it up. Easily my favorite. The chili braised beef taco (the owner's pick) came with a bright orange habanero-style sauce that brought some heat and a little sting, but in a good way. Best part? I walked out with a smoky, slightly spicy burn lingering on my tongue for a few minutes -- and honestly, I loved it. Kind of a cool after-effect that is likely the product is Smokey slow cooked patience. Plenty of seating with outdoor patios and indoor space, clean atmosphere, and reasonable prices for the quality. I only tried these two tacos today, so there are probably more stars in the Alma sky waiting to be discovered. Good food, friendly service & good experience. I'll definitely be back.

Found this place while s shopping in the complex and decided to give it a try. There is plenty of seating available inside, along with additional front (uncovered) and back (covered) outdoor seating. The interior decor is very modern featuring beautiful gold light fixtures and artwork that give the space a stylish feel. At first glance, the menu looks small, but we were pleasantly surprised to learn they also offer a few new options. I'm glad we tried them because every taco was packed with generous portions of meat and incredible flavor. Our order was taken by the owner Ryan, who was extremely friendly and took the time to explain the menu and the new items in detail. The menu itself is also very helpful clearly listing what comes in each taco. I ordered the pork Chile Verde and the Creamy Chicken Tinga tacos. My husband ordered the Smoked Brisket, Chile Braised Beef and Al Pastor tacos. For the kids, we ordered a California burrito and a Kids menu quesadilla with Al Pastor added. We also ordered Chips and Salsa and chose Table Salsa. Starting with the kids- Happy kids mean Happy parents. My daughter loved her Al Pastor quesadilla, it was cheesy soft and delicious. My son enjoyed his burrito so much that he kept showing me the inside and even asked me to take a picture of it because he loved how it looked and tasted. My husband loved all three of his tacos, and I couldn't resist trying a bite of the Al pastor. The meat was incredibly tender and silky. It literally melted in my mouth. My Pork Chile Verde taco was exactly as described- flavorful without being spicy. The Creamy Chicken Tinga, on the other hand, had a nice kick and was absolutely mouthwatering. The chips and salsa were great as well, though I do wish they provided two salsa containers instead of one. We finished the salsa quickly, but still had about half the chips left. Overall, I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for tacos with generous potion, and amazing flavor.

Brisket Taco, cheese quesadilla, chips and guacamole.

I live in the neighborhood across the street from here. I saw the sign go up a couple months ago for a new taco place. Who doesn't love tacos!? I finally tried it today with my friend who keeps raving about it. She's been at least a half a dozen times; probably more. She LOVES it! Anywho, I got a brisket taco, cheese quesadilla to share and she got guac and chips for us to share. YUM. All of it was scrumptious. The brisket was so tender and tasty. The cheese quesadilla was cheesy deliciousness on a home made tortilla. *drool* The chips were perfectly salty and the guac was very flavorful. I'm picky when it comes to guacamole in restaurants and this is easily #2 in my eyes. The girl cashier was very sweet and friendly. The food came out rather quickly. Oh! They have Coke products which makes it even better (Diet Coke is my #1 ~ I refuse to drink Diet Pepsi HA!). Try this place out. You won't be disappointed. I can't wait to go back and try the other types of tacos plus a bean and cheese burrito.

    Churros
    Tiarra J.

Update: Updating this to 5 stars based on the churros alone. They absolutely put this place over the top for me. Crispy on the outside, soft and warm on the inside, coated in cinnamon sugar, and served with three different sauces. Every bite was fresh, indulgent, and exactly what a churro should be. I came back specifically for these, and they did not disappoint. 10 out of 10. Do not skip the churros.

At the time, I enjoyed the food and considered the drive worthwhile. However, after the restaurant changed cooks, I noticed a decline in the overall quality and stopped returning. Today, I decided to give it another try and stopped by for a small bite. I ordered the vampiro, but unfortunately, it did not meet my expectations. The meat lacked noticeable seasoning or flavor, which was particularly disappointing given the restaurant's claim of cooking with mesquite coals. The tortilla topping also appeared to be more like a pre-made tostada than a tortilla toasted over an open flame. Traditionally, I would expect a lightly charred tortilla, which adds flavor and texture to the dish. Based on this visit, the quality has not returned to what I remember from two years ago. I was disappointed with the food and do not plan to come back to this location or any other for that matter.

They have a sit-down restaurant, a karaoke room, and even a walk-up window outside if you're just looking to grab something quickly. They're known for their tacos and their spicy habanero salsa, which definitely is spicy, be warned. LOL If you're dining inside, the chips and salsa are top-tier. Sooooo good and addicting! My personal favorite is the shrimp quesadillas. They're tiny, but mighty when it comes to flavor! I also like ordering their oysters. So far, they've always been clean, fresh, and hit the spot. They also have Micheladas, both the traditional version made with alcohol and a non-alcoholic version made with mineral water. Both are really good, and I highly recommend giving them a try! And for dessert, the rice pudding is served cold, and it's honestly one of the best I've had. Everyone I've brought here has been happy with their food and their choices, which says a lot because I've brought many friends and family here.
