I would give 6 stars if I could! We have huskies and most people would judge the breed, but not this vet! They call our female a "happy little floof"! They took such good care of all of our furry family and even with all of the Covid nonsense! They explained everything, had multiple conversations about what was going on and our dog came out happier than she was going in! I trust them 100%! I'm giving this veterinary hospital a 3 star review based on our recent experience with this veterinary hospital. About a week ago, I called to schedule a pre-dental appointment for my dog, and when I finally was able to speak to a receptionist she let me know that they could potentially do the dental the same day. Which I thought was great. We discussed the drop off time as 8 am. I asked questions pertaining to my experience in the field, and was given answers of "I don't know". When I requested if there was a time I could call back to either speak to a veterinarian or Veterinary Technician I was again given the same response of "I don't know". I then asked for a email address that I can send in my questions and was told that they barely check their email due to being so busy. -- This made my experienced self a bit nervous and maybe this should have been a red flag?-- I then found a way to contact Dr. Kelly and discuss the questions that I had. She was very kind, professional and spoke to me as if we were colleagues rather than me being someone who is unfamiliar with the procedure. I really appreciated this and it restored my confidence in the procedure and hospital. Fast forward to the day before our appointment, I was called to be reminded about our appointment. The receptionist said our appointment was at 8am. I was not informed on any food and water pre surgery protocol, I was not informed of what to do upon arrival or to bring anything with me. -- Luckily I knew to put my dog NPO Incase they were to do the surgery-- The following day, I arrive at 7:50 am, I see the sign stating to call when you arrive for your appointment. I called and let them know my name, pets name and the make and model of my car. I was informed that someone would be out shortly to come and retrieve my pet. Time starts to pass and other clients start to pull in and seem to be getting helped right away. (Again thinking that maybe their appointment was a emergency or a quick recheck and they will be to me next!... WRONG). Around 8:20am I call again, I said my name, pets name and that I was told our appointment was at 8 am and i understand the busy time and the ins and outs of a clinic so things can happen, only to be told by the receptionist (a different from the first time) "Your appointment is at 8:30am, I'm not sure why you are here now". I immediately say " I'm sorry there must be a misunderstanding I was called yesterday and they confirmed the time as 8am drop off, I have to be to work at 9am, I'm not sure what's going on". The receptionist then told me "I don't care what you were told I have to go by what the computer says". I then asked if I could please have Dr. Kelly call me when she has a time because I'm really confused on this misunderstanding if this is just a drop off situation. (This call never happened). I then informed the receptionist that I would have to call my husband to come switch with me so that I can make it to work, and that when he arrived I would have him call with his make and model. I had to call my husband to come switch out with me so that I could make it to work on time. I didn't leave the hospital parking lot until 8:40 am, my pet was not taken and no history was taken for his appointment. Once I arrived to work, I was receiving questions from my husband (this was about 9:10 am) I called him and asked to be placed on speaker. I answered the questions that were being asked but something that caught me off guard was "do you want him to have a IV catheter?" - I understand they can do dentals without anesthesia however when I made the appointment and even when I started the conversation with this individual I stated he is here for a pre dental exam plus dental WITH EXTRACTIONS as long as his blood work is fine and the exam goes well. So why would I be still asked if I want a catheter shouldn't that be obvious with extractions? At pickup my husband sent me pictures of our pet. I immediately could see swelling to the catheter site mainly from a too tight of a bandage and informed my husband how to remove it or loosen it and to remove the ecollar that was on our pet. When I got home around 8pm our pet had no pain medication or any medication given to him that evening by us. He was staggering around, couldn't climb up the stairs and was crying out in pain. (The pain part is understandable but why was he staggering around - think of a drunk person this is how he was). I thought someone would call us the next day to check in on him, due to the fact he had so many teeth extracted. But that hasn't happened - perhaps that's normal for this hospital not to do follow up calls. read more

I usually have a good experience with this vet. Different story this time - our pup has had some diarrhea for a few days so wanted to take her in. We suspected it was for the same reason that happened last year, in which we had a quick great experience. We asked when we could bring her in and they said there was an opening today at 1:30pm. Ok great that works! Little did they tell us that a "same day visit" is close to $100. On top of that once we arrive we are offered every test under the sun, even after stating we know what it could be and the meds she needs because of her history but to which we do because we are worried about our pup. Well almost $500 worth of test later it all boiled down to the exact same issue she had last year. Not to mention they gave her fluids (that we had to pay for of course) and they didn't even ask! I feel like we were being ripped off. This veterinarian was more inexperienced than the last time we visited and we paid a good sum for it. I have had many experiences with Dr. Kelly as a foster to dozens of animals and personally with my own pet cats.. as well as via my friends and fellow fosters. First, the series of overwhelmingly positive reviews is a direct result of her soliciting reviews on facebook after receiving a negative yelp review. Her employees have all left reviews. If you go way back, you will dig up the negatives. This woman's "thing" is the rescue community. So most of these good reviews are coming from people who aren't actually paying the bills. She started AAVS with the premise of low costs- hence the name. She works in conjunction with different groups, like a cat facebook group who also makes up the majority of her employees. Those groups don't pay exam fees and receive discounted or free services. The exam fee and cost of services has crept up and up and is now on par or higher than other affordable vet clinics on the island. I believe her exam fee is $40 now. Other local affordable vets are $35-$45, and some offer military discounts etc. All care I've received with Dr. Kelly was half-assed and rushed. There was a time she forgot to prescribe the treatment for one of the things I was there for. I ran back in to tell her and she said we'd just deal with that another time. Another time and another exam fee? She's arrogant. She told me that terramycin was a prescription and basically called me a criminal for using it without a prescription on my foster cats. It's not a prescription in Hawaii. It's on Amazon. All fosters buy OTC terramycin to treat their fosters. In fact, a good samaritan just reached out to me the other day with 4 kittens who appeared healthy except one had a bad eye. I didn't tell her not to go to Dr. Kelly, I was hoping Dr. Kelly would do something for the eye beyond terramycin. Nope. The woman sent me a message today. She paid $151 to take these 4 kittens to Dr. Kelly and walked out with Terramycin and pyrantel. Both of these are over the counter and available on Amazon for pennies per dose. $151?! For meds that all foster parents keep in their back pocket. I was meeting up with a foster friend at Dr. Kelly's last year to pick up a kitten with a minor cold. In the waiting room I told my friend to cancel her appt, they were just going to prescribe clavamox which I had anyway. The receptionist walked up to me as we were about to leave and told me that I better not be telling their clients (my friend) to leave. My friend felt awkward and proceeded with the appointment. Yep, clavamox and over $100 later I took the kitten home. I can go on and on. I've volunteered with 2 of the local spay/neuter groups on the island and fixed around 150 cats on my own. I've never had one die from surgery. A friend and fellow foster used Dr. Kelly to spay her foster kitten. Within hours of the surgery the kitten died from her intestines falling out at the incision site. Since Dr. Kelly is only open during the day, the kitten was taken to an emergency vet and was quoted $2,000 to repair the site. My friend couldn't afford that and she had to put the kitten down. I can literally go on and on and on.  How do you see some kind woman bring in kittens she found on the road, know she's willing to fork out money for them, and not mention that what you're charging her $151 for is all available on Amazon OTC? How do you tell yourself that you're doing good in the community when you're not actually here to empower these good samaritan's to help with Hawaii's cat problem. She's just here to make a buck off of you. read more

The reception ladies are polite, courteous, and professional. I was impressed that they had good energy amongst themselves and with customers, the energy that you'd only experience with people that you would consider as friends. CONSULTATION. The doctor and tech lady were very patient with me, I know nothing about any treatments, and explained me of all costs/options for treatments. I was impressed for the fact that I did not feel any pressure for making any choices of the options offered. TREATMENT. What timing! My goat was having problems breathing, our usual vet was out of town, and our vet who was treating my mini recommended calling Aloha Affordable Veterinary Services. We crated Kaki and drove him to Aiea. Upon arrival, Dr Kelly took one look at him and began administering oxygen. As he improved, she took x-rays (something difficult to do at our stalls), drew blood for tests, and began administering an antibiotic. Dr Kelly texted to follow-up on his progress. He's now well on his way to being his usual self. I only provided the details to explain the name of this veterinary clinic. We were shown aloha by all - the caring, understanding my panic and providing constant status as the day passed, Dr Kelly's concern. And affordable - lots of experience with expensive emergency care; was pleasantly surprised at the total cost. Service - excellent (we have 4 currently for the various animals). If you have small farm animals (like pigs) and no vet, call them. read more

Do not trust this vet! I have wasted lots of money taking my pets here multiple times and they still have the same issues! My poor babies. Also, they charged me for medication that my pet did not need and the store manager was rude and insensitive and provided no help. I have been taking my dog here for a long time and I've always had highly positive experiences. The prices are along the best on island. Most of the staff is really exceptional and kind. Unfortunately, today we had a very negative experience with one of the receptionists. I'm not sure of her name (she was blonde with grown out roots and was wearing a blue shirt) but when we called to check in, she said there was no way they were going to walk that far to our vehicle and that we could come stand in front of the office, that someone would be out to get us in a few minutes. We came and waited outside and were there for nearly 30 minutes. I went inside to ask if we could wait in our car and asked if she could just call us whenever they were ready. I said "we've been waiting outside for nearly 30 minutes and I'm wondering if you guys could just give us a call when you're ready for us" she replied "actually it's been like 27 minutes but sure that's fine, we just won't be walking out there". I'm very surprised at how rude she was throughout both interactions, as I've never had anyone at this office be so rude. read more

Absolutely my most favorite clinic. They have always been so helpful with my boy RJ. They have the most affordable prices on the island and the nicest staff! I have always struggled to keep up with care with most of these clinics here charging $100+ just for a visit! The best vet that I've ever been to. Dr.Z really cares about animals. We brought in my car for an emergency urinary blockage. She is honest about the situation that your animal is in but does everything in her power to help your animal get through it. She always talks to you at eye level and never above you which is great. Brought my 8 year old baby here as a walk-in since their normal vet was booked till next week. I didn't want to wait that long since she was vomiting, had diarrhea, and wasn't eating anything. For safety reasons (which is understandable) they had me wait outside in case she had parvo. The tech came out shortly after and did a swab to check for it which came back negative and told me we could then go inside in a private room where he interviewed me and asked me all the normal questions that would be asked. Dr. Kelly came in and explained everything they would like to do to check my baby's bloodwork and test for several things. Long story short, everything came back good and she suspects that my baby probably ate something she shouldn't have so she gave her meds to take to prevent vomiting and soothe her tummy and another medication to help control her diarrhea. She also recommended a bland diet to start her off and should be back to her normal self. I would totally recommend this place as their team rocks! They made my experience very easy the only thing that I wish they did differently was ask me if I wanted to get all his shots up to date, if I wanted their heart worm meds and give the full price before hand, other than that They were perfect! DO NOT GO HERE!!!! We saw the add on TV and thought it was a good idea. Took our dog here for a regular check up and shots. The staff is not friendly at all. I was the only one in the waiting area and could hear them making comments about "the bad Hawaii food" To the point. The place seems clean but not. Bugs all over the place and the worst part is the vet technician lied to me. She first brought out all the shots that she said the doctor would give him, then she came back in and said the doctor wanted to examine him in the back. I thought this was strange but let it go. Well when she brought him back in, he had 3 bleeding nails with blood on his white paws. She just said the doctor will come in and talk to me. Well how I know the vet tech lied to me is that when the doctor came in she was super surprised that my dog had 6 nails. Well if what the vet tech said was true then the doctor would have already known he had 6 toes. Well the next day after getting regular shots "which I don't know what was given due to the vet tech doing it in the back" my healthy dog had his only seizure and strted throwing up. Rushed him to waipahu vet and they took great care of him. PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR LOVED ONE HERE IF YOU TRULY LOVE THEM!!! My first time here and I'm trying to get my cat spay right away. Messaged through yelp and it was such a quick reply. I was shocked how fast someone had replied through yelp. Asked a few questions on quote and services, and Went there right away as soon as they opened to take my cat in. I was greeted with a friendly staff, very professional as well. I like how they accept walk ins and same day appt at a certain time. Which is understandable because they can get booked really quick. Not super fancy but the staff is really nice, the care is spot on, and the prices are truly affordable. I brought my kitten here during their "kitten clinic". She was spayed, microchipped, given a vaccine booster and a cone. Thank you to Dr Garberson for doing her spay! Day 1, she plowed through her food when we got home. Swelling was normal, and I kept her in a small area where she cant get too crazy. Just enough room for her litter box, bed, food/water, and some toys. At almost 2 weeks in, if she didnt have the tattoo you wouldnt be able to tell she got spayed. That is how TINY her spay site is. She healed so well. It was $65 for the kitten clinic. Other low cost places will charge $15 for pain meds, $25 microchip, $25 for the vaccine, plus more for the spay. This is hands down the best price on the island, and I hope they continue to do it. We need a place that is safe for our animals, staffed with compassionate vets who love what they do and it shows. Drop off is a little crazy with everyone and their mom coming in with cats. Just be patient, arrive on time, have your paperwork filled out before arrival (forms are available online to print out). I used Aloha Affordable Veterinary for the first time, sadly during an emergency. Dr. Kelly and staff are amazing. Dr. Kelly saved my puppy's life. My dogs regular vet couldn't get my puppy in till 2:00. My puppy was very sick with what I thought was an intestinal blockage. Aloha affordable vet was able to see my puppy much earlier. Dr. Kelly was able to get my puppy into surgery that mid morning. I was quoted a price much cheaper than I expected a surgery of that type to cost. I asked Dr. Kelly if she could spay my puppy during the exploratory surgery, she was able to do that which saved me from the $600.00 ridicules price my original vet wanted to charge me next month. So with that being said, surgery wasn't much more. When we arrived to pick up our puppy, Dr. Kelly came out to our van and explained in great detail what the surgery found, she even modeled using a rolled up towel to show us how my dogs intestine had folded back up inside itself. Dr. Kelly gave us her personal cell number for any questions or concerns we might have during this time. Dr. Kelly called us the next morning to check in on our pup. I also have to mention we did end up having to text her a picture of something late at night of what we thought was concerning. Dr. Kelly got right back to us and was able to explain what we were looking at and assure us our puppy was okay. read more
