I used Aloha Affordable Veterinary for the first time, sadly during an emergency. Dr. Kelly and staff are amazing. Dr. Kelly saved my puppy's life. My dogs regular vet couldn't get my puppy in till 2:00. My puppy was very sick with what I thought was an intestinal blockage. Aloha affordable vet was able to see my puppy much earlier. Dr. Kelly was able to get my puppy into surgery that mid morning. I was quoted a price much cheaper than I expected a surgery of that type to cost. I asked Dr. Kelly if she could spay my puppy during the exploratory surgery, she was able to do that which saved me from the $600.00 ridicules price my original vet wanted to charge me next month. So with that being said, surgery wasn't much more. When we arrived to pick up our puppy, Dr. Kelly came out to our van and explained in great detail what the surgery found, she even modeled using a rolled up towel to show us how my dogs intestine had folded back up inside itself. Dr. Kelly gave us her personal cell number for any questions or concerns we might have during this time. Dr. Kelly called us the next morning to check in on our pup. I also have to mention we did end up having to text her a picture of something late at night of what we thought was concerning. Dr. Kelly got right back to us and was able to explain what we were looking at and assure us our puppy was okay. read more

If I can give one star I would . This veterinary clinic is by far "affordable "as they claim. The doctor or owner Dr. Kelly is arrogant and rude doctor who belittle your concerns or questions . When I asked her questions about my fur baby she got irritated and started talking over me . She's very unprofessional. The staff is ok just the doctor . If your paying that much for your fur baby to be seen at least Dr. Kelly would be more understanding , showing empathy and listening to your concerns . She does half job on your fur baby and doesn't take the effort to go above and beyond . There are other veterinary in the island that will make me feel like I'm being heard and that will show some empathy . I've heard such awesome things about AAVS for a while now, but I haven't had the chance to check it out yet. I took one of my ferals there this morning and Dr. Kelly was so great. She took great care of my cat. The service there was impeccable from the moment you walk in the door. The receptionist all the way to the techs. Not only is their service great, but so are their prices. Yeah, you read their name right. Talk about AFFORDABLE! I was hesitant about bringing my cat in for a while because I didn't want to pay for an arm and a leg. My total came out to $105. That is UNHEARD OF. Typically you go to the vet and expect to pay at LEAST $300. I was so shocked. They take care of you, your pets, and your wallet. read more

Be careful when going here. They claim to be reasonable on price but they have hidden fees they dont tell u about til your trying to pay. I was quoted a price of $10 to get my dogs nails cut. Was told I didnt need an appointment and could just bring them in whenever I wanted to. So I took both my dogs today and when I paid the lady told me $63! I ask for what? She said it's now $15 per dog plus an additional $15 per dog vet tech fee. That's $30 per dog. I can get my nails done for just a little more. This was a very sneaky underhanded thing for them to do. read more

When we adopted our dog from PAWS of Hawaii, AAVS was the clinic that did all surgeries and vaccines leading up to his adoption. We have only taken him elsewhere in emergency situations, and we cannot think of taking him to a different vet for general wellness. Every staff member is kind and affectionate towards all the animals that come in, and the doctors all take the time to talk to you and listen to your concerns. Doctor Kaleikau and Whitney are fantastic! I took my Cat Munchkin in for a visit as she was having some issues with her mouth. We reached out to them and they scheduled us right away for an appointment. When we arrived they promptly came out to get her, the apportionment was quick and my cat was well taken care of. They made her as comfortable as possible during her visit and made sure that all of our concerns were addressed. My cat is now happy and doing so much better than when her appointment started due to the great assessment and treatment she received here. (Part2) to feel weird about it. 1115am comes and I call back. A different lady answers and all I said, "Hi, update on BillyJean?" She puts me on hold. I waited and waited. At this point, i felt like they were hiding something. After a long hold, she comes back and says if they can call me back. I refused and told her I needed to know an update. She then cuts me off and says BillyJean didn't make it. Pissed at that moment, I asked why they didn't just tell me earlier, she cut me off. I spoke over her and she asked me to stop yelling at her. Why not just say it when I first called ‍ I find out later, it was the manager named Amber..? Don't remember but she was rude. REALLY, rude! Kept cutting me off and when I would talk over her....she'd say I was yelling. I was Frustrated and wanted to be done with this place I didn't care for her rude comments and requested BillyJean back. She tells me she doesn't know where "it" is. Shocked, I repeated myself and she said she wouldn't know where to find BillyJean and Dr. Kelly was busy. I asked to speck to Dr. Kelly and she wouldn't allow it. So, I told her I'm on my way with the cops and she hung up on me I called a couple times and i was told off the back to hold. I hung up and called the cops. Bullying techniques. I get to the parking lot of the shopping center, where this unprofessional clinic is and waited for the cops. I get 2 missed calls from the clinic. Message was from Dr. Kelly asking me to call back to discuss what she told me on Friday. Thinking that I'd get somewhere with her....I call back. She's the vet that "cared" for BillyJean. She's the founder/owner of this clinic. I was wrong right off the back was "remember I said" & "I told you"....It was lies. I told her she didn't tell me those things and all I wanted was BillyJean back. She tells me she can return BillyJean back but she'd have to find her. I said that was fine. She then proceeds to tell me that getting the cops involved wouldn't help me. I asked her why didn't they just tell me earlier. She says she was working the front and she never heard anyone say they'd call me back..... b/c it WASNT getting anywhere, I just asked her to return BillyJean back and I'd leave. Y'all, she tells me she cremated her......she cremated her I asked her without my consent. She says that normally owners don't want their pets back. I asked her if she was really listening to herself. I told her I want what's left of her and I was taking her to court. She continues to tell me she doesn't know where it's at. I told her that it's not just a pet. It's our family member and you cremated her without constant. She kept bringing up bills for free and She told me this and that. I told her the cops were on their way and hung up. I waited and waited for the cops. The cop finally showed up, I told him what was going on. He asked what was their reason of not returning BillyJean and I told him they said they cremated her without my consent and they didn't know where it's at. The cop goes in and about 5mins later, walks out was a bag I told him I wasn't taking that unless the vet opens it and shows me what's in there. I didn't trust it. The cop was over the situation. I took the bag and thanked the officer. He tells me that they (vet) says I can't come back there. I will never use them EVER. She says she has a passion for animals. Where? She said she loves pigs. How? I will NEVER EVER go back there. I wouldn't recommend this animal clinic to anyone. Rude techs, unprofessional manager & Dr. Kelly isn't the person she makes herself out to be. All that hassle and they had BillyJean. She wasn't cremated. I wish I would've just kept her with us. She didn't make it but she would've been with her family that loved her dearly. I brought my very shy (75 pound) dog here yesterday for a check up and some vaccines. Louise was able to get my dog inside of a room pretty quickly after we arrived, which was great because he had been terrified in the waiting room but did ok in the room alone with me. Louise and Dr. Kaleikau were patient with both me and my dog as we figured out how to get situated for the checkup and vaccines. They talked to my dog and gave him treats. We were able to get everything done quickly in one appointment. Dr. Kaleikau asked if I would be okay with the idea of giving my dog anxiety medication the next time we visit. I appreciated the conversation we had about that and how she left it up to me. The prices are good, but the love and care the employees have are what ultimately makes it worth it to come again! read more

I only give 4 stars because the hours are super inconvenient: 8am-5pm Mon- Fri, it doesn't allow for someone working during that time frame to come in for appointments without taking time off of work. I love this place! My 2 year old Jack Russell Terrier gave me quite a scare earlier this year back in January & I am so thankful for the team at Aloha Affordable Vet! They fixed him right on up and now he is back to his normal self. Other Vet offices in my area, Kapolei, quoted me $1000+ for what my dog needed when I called around and I ended up only paying $600 at Aloha Affordable Vet! In these difficult times with COVID and the recession, I'm just beyond thankful that I could get such a affordable and decent price to save my Jax's life. This place is great pricing wise, supper affordable prices hence their company name. However if you have a cat I would recommend looking for another doctor who is more specialized in diagnosing cats as they are very hard to diagnose. I brought my cat in a couple times for mainly digestion issues and during my first visit I explained all of my concerns which the doctor told me it was pretty normal for my cat to be doing these things and that he was probably reacting to the food I've been giving him the past year or so. so we left and a couple weeks later I didn't see any improvement in my cat. So I went back and had to ask them to run a fecal sample which came out inconclusive? Also I had to call them for the results and the receptionist (or the person who answered my call) told me the results of his fecal sample instead of the vet? I never ended up going back since it is hard to collect a good sample and bring it to them with my schedule. I continued to notice some of his symptoms were still kind of there so I did some research on vets who are generally more familiar with cats and at the new vet we did a fecal sample there which came out positive for two types of worms which the new vet said she feels like it has been in him for some time. The new vet has done great with assessing his symptoms and being proactive with blood work and x-rays. We are now treating him and hopefully recovers soon. read more

We brought our dog in just for a ear hematoma drain but she insisted on helping us also fix his cherry eye, neuter him as well as all his shots for a very reasonable price!!! we Are so extremely grateful for her and all the services she provided!!! we've been trying to fix his cherry eye for years but never could because we just couldn't afford it but she was able to work with us & make it so that we could get it done. & on top of that she neutered and gave him his shots! This place is horrible! I will never bring my dog here ever again! I made this account just to write this review. I was recommended by a family member to call poi dogs and popoki to get my puppy fixed so I called them because I was told it would be affordable. A lot of services were charging upwards of $500 so I wanted to get quotes. Poi dogs and popoki no longer offered their services so they referred me to aloha affordable vet clinic. They told me my puppy needed a wellness check before I could schedule her to get fixed, and I told them that's fine so I went in and scheduled the wellness check. She did good, and I went ahead and got a quote for her to get fixed. I was quoted 225, and thought that was affordable and went on to schedule her surgery for September 30. I had to bring her in between 8 and 830 in the morning. So I came in at around 815am to drop off my puppy. I was then approached by the vet tech with my estimate for the day, to which the price went from being 225 to about 550! Explain to me how that happened?! They added to my estimate, things I didn't need and didn't ask if I needed like heartworm prevention or flea and tick meds!I told them to remove the items I don't need and just charge me what I need to proceed with the surgery. From then the vet tech assured me that the total should be less than 550, she didn't tell me how much less, she just told me less. So I left and waited for the phone call to tell me my puppy is ready for pick up. The phone call came at about 230 so I went and picked up my dog at around 330,4. As I waited in the car, another vet tech approached me with a card reader and my receipt for the day with a brand new total. This total being $687!! WTF?! How did that happen?! So I told this vet tech that I was quoted a different and much lower price in the morning, and that it was supposed to be lower not higher. She left and a different vet tech came out. Apparently, they forgot to add on the anesthesia and sedative needed to put my pet to sleep for the surgery. They also forgot to add the medication needed to go home! How do you forget that? So, they ended up covering the costs of anesthesia and the sedatives which only brought down the price to $530! So, I said screw it they already did the surgery but I'm writing this review in hopes someone will find it helpful and never bring their pet here! They don't have their stuff together! read more

My Shepherd Husky couldn't pee and so I rushed him to VCA in Pearl City. I was told he needed surgery to remove stones that was in his bladder that would cost $4,000. OMG!! but maybe because the doctor at VCA saw all my stress she was nice enough to recommend Aloha Affordable Veterinary Services. So feeling a little relieved that I could afford it I went there and the price was in fact much more affordable... so my dog had the surgery to remove the stones in his bladder (called a Cystotomy) ....I thought everything was fine... I took him home after his surgery that night and he couldn't pee.. so that same night I had to rush him back to the Pearl City VCA (because Aloha Affordable Veterinary is on open from 8am to 5pm M-F)...and the VCA showed me that he still has the stones!!??? (they brought me a vile with stones that came out when they did a cathider. Aloha Affordable Veterinary did NOT remove all the stones... in fact, my dog has to have another Cystotomy (surgery) done by the VCA which they had removed a total of 10 more stones WTF!!!?? and now I still have to find a way to pay VCA's price AFTER paying for Aloha Affordable Vet so I'm paying more!!! the doctor over at the VCA said that after viewing the X rays that Aloha Affordable did remove some of the stones... but apparently not all!! and so far its costing me a good $6,000 now!! My god I'm so stressed!! I should have just got it done at VCA they are Good... pricy but good! lesson learned! wont be going back to Aloha Affordable and I will not recommend them. Aloha Affordable might be good for other things like neutering etc... but I would not recommend them if your dog needs a Cystotomy! (removal of bladder stones) please don't go to Aloha Affordable for this! read more

AAVS is the only vet I will go to. I have been going there about a year now. My dog is a service animal and thus requires more health care than the average pet. It also means I am much more picky about the care he receives. Things need to be a particular way, I expect a certain level of communication, and I need his health taken incredibly seriously. If he gets sick, I can't risk whether it's "just a virus" or not. Dr. Kelly has always been understanding and patient-focused. She takes the time to ask specific questions so she can get a clear understanding of my dog's overall health as well as any potential issues. She's gone above and beyond in helping me prepare for a trip I'm taking mainland in December. Her staff are all lovely. They're friendly and knowledgeable. And they never guess if they're unsure about something. They're always straightforward about not being sure and they go and find out the answer. That's incredibly important in the medical field--both in caring for humans and animals. They never try to charge for things you don't need. If there are options in care, they explain those options in detail and they give their recommendation, but make it very clear that it is the owner's call. And their recommendation is never to order extra tests if they don't think it is necessary, so when they do recommend diagnostic testing, I can trust that it really is the best option. The quality of care I received my first visit is the same quality of care I received when I went in today. read more

We came to get our dog his second round of shots. He threw up in the car. We took him back and they checked him out, and made sure he was okay. Doctor said he was okay but didn't even ask us if we wanted a JUST IN CASE MEDICINE. They just did without asking so we were forced to pay it. I didn't mind, but it's the principal behind it is what I'm pissed about. You ask before you do something. It really pissed me off but it's whatever already. The doctor is really nice, the staff is great but I was just upset that we weren't notified about them giving my dog extra medicine and then forced to pay. read more

If only I had the option to include no stars, I would!! I do not recommend this place at all! Took my dog there one time & that will definitely be my LAST TIME! Several weeks ago, I took my dog there for a teeth cleaning, they discovered some teeth needed to get extracted. I Requested for a quote before even getting going through with the procedure & asked how the process was going to be. After getting the quote from them, the price was quite reasonable, so I thought I'd go for it. Scheduled the appointment a couple days after, as they advised it would be a whole day procedure. The staff advised I drop off my dog in the morning & pick him up later that same day in the evening. As hours went by, I received a call from them that the procedure went well & my dog is ready to be picked up. Once I picked him up, I was in COMPLETE SHOCK & DISGUST. My dog was covered in a towel they provided to us & the towel was covered in blotches of blood and as well as his mouth. The tooth that was extracted looked messy & bloody. (And MIND YOU, this is not the first time my dog had a cleaning & had to get teeth extracted!!! NEVER PICKED UP MY DOG FROM A VET LOOKING LIKE THIS!) With that being said, I automatically noticed they are very SLOPPY, UNPROFESSIONAL & MESSY workers!! It's been several weeks after the appointment and I am starting to notice my dog is showing signs of pain. Or possibly a broken jaw. My dogs gum is enlarged and red since the procedure. & My dogs mouth is starting to show misalignment. My dog NEVER experienced this with any vets & never looked that way EVER until I brought him there!!! Please save your dog & don't bother taking your dog here. You will regret it like I did! Now i am stuck scheduling another vet visit to help my baby! When it could have been resolved from the first initial visit with them!!! WORST EXPERIENCE AND VET IN THE ISLAND! read more

I wish my first experience with AAVS was as good as my second time there. It was a complete 180 from my first visit. I decided to give them another chance and do my dogs teeth extraction there. Crystal was absolutely amazing at handling my anxiety and concerns about the procedure. I was told a multitude of different things as far as drop off/pick up times, whether anesthesia would be used, and post op medication. Crystal was able to clear that up when i checked in. Everything went according to plan and promises were kept. It's unfortunate that i had to go through what i did and then it being compensated for the second time around. All visits to AAVS should be of the same quality and expectations and companies should have to make up for a previous bad experience. read more

I absolutely love Dr. Kelly and everything she's done for me and my dog Oliver. This review however is regarding a visit that we didn't have Dr. Kelly or any of his usual vets. As soon as I mentioned that I feed my dog raw, the vet stopped listening to my concerns for my dog and started to preach about the dangers of raw. Going as far as stating that dogs have died from raw, when my dog have his vest on that says emotional support. I understand dog owners and vets doesn't always agree on the science of raw feeding, but, I stated that his issues stems from the week that he was off his raw food yet the vet insisted on immediately stopping feeding him raw for both our safety (?). I'll never stop feeding my dog raw though, and I'll happily take Oliver back to AAVS, but for Dr. Kelly only. read more
