I was in the area and craving some Hawaiian BBQ. Found this spot and the food was delicious, beats your typical ono Hawaiian by a mile. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the mixed veggies was this roasted veggies with some kind of sauce instead of your normal steamed veggies. Super delicious! The portions for the kids was good and definitely had leftovers going home. Service is also super sweet! Good music and patio dining, would return!

I am really happy it's better than I thought! The food is so fresh and the staff are very friendly and kind. I've been to several of the Hawaiian Islands and Aloha Kids is right up there with the best of Island fast food. I think the most important thing is that the food tastes fresh and there is no oily taste to fried foods and a nice crunch in the vegetables. Although we don't have the Hawaiian weather, the location is good enough to hold me over until my trip to the Big Island in December...

Stopped by today to grab lunch with my mom & my daughter after a trip to Descanso Gardens and it was a fabulous choice! I didn't get the girls name that took our order, but for her being busy with orders, she had a fantastic attitude, very friendly and attentive. The food was soooo good, my chicken katsu was so crispy and the rice was cooked to perfection. We all enjoyed our food, we sat outside in the covered patio and had an awesome lunch together.I will definitely be returning here again!

Chicken Katsu with Mac Salad and Rice

Came in at late lunch hour to try out the new LC restaurant. Service was great and my food also came out very quickly. I ordered the chicken katsu with mac salad and rice, and the portions were very large (it's a lot of meat). The katsu was breaded well, very crunchy and filling. The mac salad was good as well. I liked the sauce that came with the meal, sweet and tangy. The place itself is very well maintained, with outdoor and indoor seating. It used to be a ramen place, and is located next to Panda Express and Honeybird (another great spot). Overall, recommend! LC has been needing a Hawaiian place !

Good portion sizes for the price. Clean restaurant. They've got a bar stool seating area inside, single file. Or an outdoor seating in the patio which is mostly patio height furniture with limited dining table height furniture. Service was great. Polite and quick. Food tasted fresh. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Loved that they had vegetarian musubi. Wish they had a vegetarian entree for the plates.

A nice addition to La Cañada from the owners of Honeybird next door. Knowing the quality of HB, I knew AK was going to be good! My favorites so far are the garlic salmon poke bowl, the mushroom musubi, and the kahlua pork. The sides of aloha veggies and Mac salad are good companions. This may sound odd, but I think the quality of cooked rice makes or breaks a meal, and AK does a good job on the foundation of a good meal. The interior is bright, airy and inviting. I like the display of Hawaii themed gifts by the entrance. The menu is just large enough, not overwhelming with too many choices. Can't forget to mention a nice selection of drinks to go with your meal. I'm a fan of Moshi sodas now! Looking forward to trying the moco loco next!

The Hawaiian fried chicken was good it just needed more sauces rice was good and Mac salad was good as well. The tuna poke was great, you could tell it is fresh and not frozen tuna. Spam musubi was delicious as well. I will be back to try the other dishes.

I was looking for a new place to eat for lunch and found this Hawaiian restaurant. Menu was simple. good prices, large portions. I ordered the chicken Katsu, it was tender, thin, crispy with macaroni salad. I will definitely return to try to other stuff. Much recommended

it was my first time try this place out about a week ago and i enjoyed the food and outdoor atmosphere. their seating tables are so nice and relaxing. they have street parking right in front of the building which was nice. when i walked in i was greeted by the cashier at the front. she was really nice. i ordered their teriyaki chicken plate with sticky rice and macaroni salad on the side. i really like their sticky rice with the toppings, it added seasoning and more flavor to the rice which was nice. the macaroni salad was really good. i really enjoyed their teriyaki chicken. the teriyaki sauce tasted really good and the chicken was nicely cooked. most definitely will be coming back again!

Always exciting when a new place opens up in The Foothills. Aloha Kids nailed it! Yummy, clean Hawaiian BBQ, that fulfills your craving. The Dinosaur Beef ribs were our favorite, and the Mac salad was delicious!

Very happy with the food. Our family of 4 got chicken Katsu, Kailua Pork, Teriyaki Chicken, garlic miso salmon poke and we got 1 spam musubi to taste. It was all very good. The portions are super decent. Everyone was happy with their food and we would definitely go again. They have Hawaiian Sun drinks too Seating is tight. Not much room inside. There is a nice patio outside but again not a ton of seating. It would be easy enough to take it to go.

Ahi Tuna Poke was spoiled... had to toss.

Can you make the poke without sesame oil for people who are allergic?

Hello! Yes, we can make a new batch but there would be some wait because it will be made right then, fish to be cut, and remade without sesame oil.

While I was staring at the menu deciding whether I wanted to get anything, several people came and went with their orders and everyone told me to get the fried chicken. So, I went inside and got the fried chicken with macaroni salad. A few mintues later, I added a katsu musubi to the order. This is not fast-food. The wait is real. About 12 minutes. I then had probably about 10 minutes of driving before I sat down to eat. The fried chicken is delicious and has a great crispy/crunchy skin. There is a faint sweetness that coats the chicken. The meat was not super plump like some national-chain places (I think those places brine-injected the chicken). Depending on your preference, this might feel too dry to you. Their dipping sauce for the chicken is very tasty. If they just sold that in bottles, I'd come just to buy that for use at home! Speaking of preferences, the macaroni salad is also well made, but it's simple and might be disappointing if you're expecting some kind of flavor kick. I liked it very much, because it is in the style of the basic macaroni salad -- someone described it as going home to Hawaii for them -- and I think that's what it is. Portions were enough to split into two meals. So I had half of my chicken and the mac salad. I had planned to also only eat half of the musubi. But it was delicious and had a nice crunch which I'm sure would not have held up being kept in the fridge. I really enjoyed the musubi on its own, but also enjoyed taking turns with bites with that sauce added on. I stored the rest of the chicken and mac salad in the fridge and then had them for dinner 6 hours later. Despite being in the fridge, the chicken still had a bit of a crunchy bite to it - it wasn't a mushy soggy mess. Very friendly service. This is not a sit-down place you go to for a dining experience - just a solid place to get food to go that will be delicious. Now that I've had the fried chicken that everyone seems to recommend, I'm looking forward to trying the rest of their menu.

It is a small, unassuming little place with a free parking lot. Upon entering, I was greeted warmly, and I have to say, the service was great! The lady at the counter was super sweet and made small talk with me. I got my order which came out to $17.12 after tax. Food-wise, the fried chicken was indeed delicious! I loved the batter: it was shatteringly crisp. The chicken was tender and flavored well, but I loved the sauce that came with it! For the mac salad, I thought it was just okay. It tasted a bit plain from other mac salads I've tried, but the noodles were cooked perfectly. For the price, the portion size is okay, but I'm not complaining since the food was good. Overall, the friendly service and fried chicken is what makes me want to come back again! I definitely want to try their other offerings too. Would recommend!

One employee asked if I'd like crab and seaweed salad. I said yeah. Crab is probably imitation crab. I like that the crab and seaweed salad are free. I don't think other poke bowl restaurants serve them for free. I like how the sauces and toppings are labeled on the display cases or glass. I didn't see the trash can so I asked an employee where I was supposed to place the tray and bowl. He said he could take it. Employees were kind. This place is mostly famous for their Turon. Just the right amount of crunch to sweetness ratio. I especially love that they have catering trays for everything you would want to bring to a filipino party. You can order their Turon in orders of 5 or more which gives you plenty of options if you want people to share. The pieces are pretty long so my tip would be to cut them in half to feed more mouths. Last time I went I got their lumpia and pancit bihon. My goodness!! Delicious and so fresh. The noodles I ate for days even after the party but everyone enjoyed it. I like the thin and thick noodles so happy they offered more than just the traditional pancit. Plenty of lumpia sauce was given and was thankful they hooked it up. The team at Chaaaste is phenomenal!! Honestly everyone is so friendly and kind. They always ask me about my day and curious where I'm going with all their delicious food. So family oriented and you could tell they put a lot of love into their food. I especially love seeing the Lola's and Aunties behind the counter at the register. So sweet! They have a small parking lot but I never had issues parking. There are always spots open. It's in a small plaza, but they offer everything you could need filipino. There's even a convenience store and some steam table staples available throughout the day. Their longanisa is fire and can't go wrong with anything they have hot and fresh. Truly a treat to get something from here so come for your parties, come for the snacks, or just come for ready to go food. They have it all!!
