Grabbin a quick din. I had a craving for Hawaiian BBQ so I pulled up to this new ONO Hawaiian BBQ. Got the BBQ combo dinner subbed rice with extra Mac + the crispy shrimp appetizer. The food was fresh and came out quickly. It was all well seasoned and delicious.

The food was 'ok.' I just didn't think it was special. As a matter of fact, I like L&L much better than this place. I don't think I would come back. I got the Aloha plate which offers 2 items on their combo. I got the fire island chicken and bbq beef. The chicken was better than the beef, but both were only 'ok.'

Great new South Lake location, 15 min walk from my house. Portion size comparable to other locations. I only wish I could choose ANY meat-seafood combo I like instead being limited to their set combos. (For example if you want galbi ribs you are limited to combos with bbq chicken only, no seafood or Island fire chicken either, which is a real bummer.) Also you cannot buy items a' la carte like you can at Panda. Having said that, the food is high quality and tastes great!

Decided to try Ono Hawaiian BBQ, recently opened near me. The first is conveniently located next to a donut shop, so carb away. The musubi were really good and not overstuffed with rice like some other places. The beef musubi is my favorite, really tender beef. The mini plate meals are plenty generous. The prices are good, so great value.

Aloha plate with white fish and Island Fire Chicken; yum! However, portions were smaller than other Ono locations.

The good: Taste was on point and comparable to other Ono locations. I ordered the aloha plate with white fish and island fire chicken to share. Service was friendly, fast, and efficient. One of the employees even brought an extra plate and fork because he knew we were sharing. All-in-all, it was a good experience. The only complaint I have is that the portion sizes seemed noticeably smaller here compared to other Ono locations. [[HIGHLIGHT]]So while the location looks nice and the taste of the food is good, I would likely choose to go to one of the other locations to have larger portions.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] While my husband and I did have enough to eat, we definitely didn't come home with the customary leftovers. My honest rating for this location was 3.5 stars; however, the service and taste bumped it up to 4 rather than 3.

We attended thier "Grand Opening" a couple of weeks ago ... We had a 2 for 1 mixed bbq plate with kalbi, chick & beef. Delicious. Super nice staff... [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ribbon cutting .... Live dancers n musicians... Plus we were winners in thier raffle.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were spoiled & impressed! Five stars!!!!

Opening Day for this location. Always good food! Quick friendly service. Front entrance from Lake. Back entrance by parking lot used as Exit only.

Chicken katsu was still pink and slimy inside. Please cook it longer! Can easily get sick from raw chicken.

Love this place but yesterday I notice the chicken katsu was undercooked and slimy inside. Please cook it bit longer and check it after cutting to make sure it's cooked throughly. Undercook chicken can easily get you sick

    Mini Chicken Katsu

Like Zippy's back in Hawaii. Food is good and consistent. Price not bad. They give plenty. Counter girl took care of my order right away. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Place is clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Hawaiian music on the speakers.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] . I always get lunch here when I'm visiting and stocking up at Essence. Mini plate is nuff.

Getting ready to dig into my Hawaiian BBQ Mix.

The macadamia pancake was a massive amount of vanilla custard with a stingy amount of macadamia nut sprinkled on it. If you love massive amounts of custard, then this is for you. Unfortunately the custard did not compliment the pancakes but rather overwhelmed them. I have a favorite Hawaiian food spot in Lawndale and will make the trip as it is definitely worth it.

It is a small, unassuming little place with a free parking lot. Upon entering, I was greeted warmly, and I have to say, the service was great! The lady at the counter was super sweet and made small talk with me. I got my order which came out to $17.12 after tax. Food-wise, the fried chicken was indeed delicious! I loved the batter: it was shatteringly crisp. The chicken was tender and flavored well, but I loved the sauce that came with it! For the mac salad, I thought it was just okay. It tasted a bit plain from other mac salads I've tried, but the noodles were cooked perfectly. For the price, the portion size is okay, but I'm not complaining since the food was good. The staff was helpful and friendly. However, the food was absolutely awful. We ate it anyway (wish we hadn't), but we were in a hurry and hungry. I ordered the Brick Chicken. Whatever spice rub they use must contain MSG because, today (the day after) I feel dizzy, upset stomach, my joints ache, and I have a headache. Last night, both me and my husband couldn't sleep because we both felt restless and squirrly. All usual after eating MSG. The rub was also dry, sandy, and extremely salty, so that tells me it's MSG. The mashed potatoes were cold and the veg was meh. In fact, the overcooked veg was probably the best part. My husband ordered the Loco Moco and I tried it. It was flavorless and dry. He told me it was, "not good." Someone needs to get into the kitchen and see what's going on. Also, don't use MSG for crying out loud. What year is it? If you want Hawaiian food, get a can of Spam, cook it up and put an egg on it. Canoe House is not good food. Cute place, decor wise, but really... don't chance it.

This place is mostly famous for their Turon. Just the right amount of crunch to sweetness ratio. I especially love that they have catering trays for everything you would want to bring to a filipino party. You can order their Turon in orders of 5 or more which gives you plenty of options if you want people to share. The pieces are pretty long so my tip would be to cut them in half to feed more mouths. Last time I went I got their lumpia and pancit bihon. My goodness!! Delicious and so fresh. The noodles I ate for days even after the party but everyone enjoyed it. I like the thin and thick noodles so happy they offered more than just the traditional pancit. Plenty of lumpia sauce was given and was thankful they hooked it up. The team at Chaaaste is phenomenal!! Honestly everyone is so friendly and kind. They always ask me about my day and curious where I'm going with all their delicious food. So family oriented and you could tell they put a lot of love into their food. I especially love seeing the Lola's and Aunties behind the counter at the register. So sweet! They have a small parking lot but I never had issues parking. There are always spots open. It's in a small plaza, but they offer everything you could need filipino. Barely any yuzu flavor, which was disappointing. Salmon needs to be salted a bit more. The nori wasn't crispy, however, it wasn't oily. Onigiri was mild in flavor overall. This was decent, but it wasn't addicting. Onigiri was a good size. If you're hungry, ordering two to three onigiris would suffice. BEEF SUKIYAKI ONIGIRI This did taste like beef sukiyaki. Could taste the sauteed onions too. But this also needed more flavor, more salt. The nori wasn't crispy, however, it wasn't oily. I enjoyed this more than the Salmon Yuzu. BAKED LOBSTER SHRIMP HANDROLL Ordered the wrong one. I thought this would be spicy. But they later told me they only have baked, not spicy for the lobster shrimp handroll. Only the onigiri is spicy and there's a spicy tuna for the handroll too. The handroll was underseasoned and it was just plain baked lobster and shrimp with rice. If you eat it with soy sauce and wasabi it might help a bit, but still so disappointed that no one told me this was not a spicy handroll! LYCHEE LEMONADE This was a bit sweet, but it tasted like lychee and lemonade. A good balance. It had real lychee in it too, which I appreciate. This was good! AMBIANCE + SEATS & TABLES The ambiance was very casual. As soon as you enter, you see the wooden and metal tables and chairs. Small tables for 2, table for 4, a bar seat table in the center and in the back. More smaller tables than large. It was comfortable to sit in. Tables are close together. Two unisex bathrooms toward the entrance. Bathroom was clean. CUSTOMER SERVICE It was good. Person taking my order was nice. But he did not do a good job at explaining everything when I asked about the hand roll I was ordering. I guess misunderstandings can happen. Overall, it was an underwhelming experience at Rice & Nori. Not sure if I would return. Have had better onigiris at Japanese supermarkets.
