Aloha Kids is a great new restaurant in La Cañada. Typically to get this type of food we would have to venture out to Pasadena or another area to get it from more of a chain place. This is a good local business and the food is great! We had the Galbi beef plate and the Dinosaur ribs plate. Both meals were excellent but those ribs really were amazing. The restaurant has a nice outdoor seating area out front that will be really great when the weather warms up. Staff seems great they were very kind and helpful, food was done on time for takeout which is a plus. It might be a tad on the pricey side but I feel like you are getting what you pay for at least so it's not bad. read more

I was very disappointed. The food was really bad. The rice was not properly cooked, it was hard and dry. The poke was tasteless, the eggs on the loco moko were overcooked (On the menu it said they were sunny side up so I asked for over easy, but I got an egg that had the consistency of a hard boiled egg). First time here and all I have to say is AMAZING! I've been looking for a good Hawaiian spot in the area and glad one finally opened down the street from where I live. Best Hawaiian food I've had in LA by far! At first it seemed a bit pricey for a fast casual place but once we tried our food, we understood we were paying for high quality, delicious meals. We loved everything we ordered: the miso black cod, dinosaur ribs, mac salad, and aloha roasted veggies. The meats were so flavorful and not overly salty. The cod was the perfect buttery texture and even the rice was cooked to perfection. You have to wait a bit to get your food after you order, but that's because the mains are cooked fresh. The outdoor seating was very family-friendly and I loved the cute Asian/Hawaiian food-themed stationary and knick-knacks they sell at the front! Can't wait to come back. read more

I got a $21 plate lunch with galbi, rice and veggies. The meat was tasty, but the entire order was just bones. 16 of them! 2 had some stringy meat on them but that's it. The rest were just medallion-sized bones without anything even to gnaw off the side. I have attached a photo that shows the bones included vs the actual meat included when you separate them. I feel like I am getting trolled here, and would never buy food here again or recommend this restaurant to anyone. Another neighborhood ripoff / fail. My kid got a chicken katsu kids plate that had 4x more meat in it for $11. All in all we paid over $60 for two plates and a kids meal and probably got about 8 total oz of meat. Just a total scam. I have never left a negative review of anything in my life but this was such a total L for us that I had to. It was like going to McDonalds and just getting a bun with a picture of meat on it. This is exactly what we needed in this area. My family and I ordered the teriyaki chicken, chicken katsu, Kailua pork, galbi, Dinosaur ribs, and ALL dishes tasted so flavorful. My kids (who are picky eaters) especially loved the katsu, spam musubi, galbi and the dinosaur ribs. I liked the Kailua pork and both poke options were also delicious. The dinosaur ribs had so much meat, and they give you more katsu than other restaurants. You must order one of the Hawaiian specialty drinks they have in the cooler. So refreshing and perfect touch to your meal. They sell cute merchandise on the side.. not to mention the Honolulu cookies! I will be purchasing them regularly! The servers and chefs are friendly and helped us with any specific questions on the menu. This restaurant will be one of our "go-to" spots for our family. read more

I just ate the Teriyaki smash burger and it was delicious! It is in their weekend brunch menu for now but I would be willing to order it during the week for lunch too. As always the service was great and I'm so happy we have a local Hawaiian restaurant now so that I don't have to drive to Torrance or Carson. I hope they add this burger to their regular menu. I also ordered the chicken katsu plate that has huge portions of gohan with furikake on it and their mac salad which has improved since they first opened. The macaroni salad taste just like honey birds which is bland and no flavor. The pork dish needs to be rethinked. Just 2 pounds of pulled pork and eating with rice just didn't go well. I would give this place a solid 3.5/5 The chicken teriyaki was really really good when me and my mother went... Especially the side of veggies!!! We heard good things, but we waited 35 min for takeout, and the Mochiko chicken was bone dry, overcooked, and cold. It was obviously not served fresh to order. Also ordered the garlic shrimp, but they didn't shuck the shrimp before sautéing it. So I had to peel the shrimp with all the garlic and butter all over my hands. I was shocked to see how much waste this new spot creates. Everything is served in to go containers even if you are eating on site. But the worst part is that they put every single order in a plastic bag, no matter if you take it to go or "for here". I had to tell them to please keep the bag and that I would just carry the two little containers to my table with my bare hands. Pretty sure 99.9% of their customers can handle that. The service and the overall look was good. But the food, the food was amazing. I've had my fair share of Hawaiian food after numerous trips to Gardena, but this definitely makes the top 3 Hawaiian restaurants I've ever had. The chicken had this char to it with the juiciest interior, the glaze was flavorful but not overwhelming as compared to others. The fresh kimchi and rice was delightful as well. Although, must say beyond just the food the restaurant looked phenomenal, it was very open and had this ambience that was comforting, and jubilant. I ordered take-out from Aloha Kids when they did an elementary school fundraiser. It took about 10 minutes for them to have 2 entrees ready. The place got really smokey at one point, so much that my hair and clothes smelled like it when I got home. I was also a bit concerned about cross-contamination from the workers. One guy was handling raw salmon wrapped in a towel, and placing it right next to the area where the cashier was making spam wasubis in between orders. She was wearing gloves while handling the food, but did not wash her hands once before returning to the cash register. The food itself was alright. The chicken teriyaki was slightly burned but the sauce and non-burned pieces were yummy. I ordered the slaw as the side and it had no flavor/dressing. The dry pieces of ramen on top were strange. The dinosaur bone had good flavor, but was very chewy and had almost no meat. The macoroni salad was delicious. The chunks of egg whites was a nice touch. I can't judge this place from one visit on a very busy day for them. Might return to give it another try. read more
