    Bacon my heart
    Dillon B.

It was my first time there & I didn't really know what to get & the gentlemen behind the counter that took my order seemed like he did not want to take my order. I was very polite with everything & he was just talking over me & cutting me off. I got there for breakfast & got the burrito " Bacon my Heart" and that was good. The food there is good, but wish it came with some kind of sauce you can use if wanted! Overall food was good but the guy who took my order, just seem like he did not want to be at work that day.

Wow! Aloha Snacks is a Hawaiian fusion restaurant located in Virginia Beach. The storefront itself has indoor and outdoor seating with huge windows, plants and so much sun. It felt like I was entering an elevated beach shack the vibes were immaculate! One huge plus about this location is that they also have allocated parking, which I love! Now the food, I don't know what I was expecting but the flavors, the options, the variety blew me away. Stopped for a quick breakfast to share and got The Duke Breakfast Burrito which was a rolled seasoned tortilla stuffed full of sticky rice, pork belly, American cheese, eggs, fries, kimchi, mayo and gochuchang. We also got a side of fries and had to top everything off with a Malasada. Everything was phenomenal, I can't stop thinking about how yummy that burrito was, it had everything you could want a crunch, a bit of spice, sweetness, all of the above. The malasada was warm, fluffy and full of filling. The fries were basic waffle fries but I think they served as a classic side to the amazinf burrito. Overall, give this spot a try! There is accessible parking, beautiful indoor and outdoor areas to enjoy a meal and the workers are all extremely kind they would definitely be able to recommend you something yummy.

Sushi/poke meets fine casual dining. The interior is simple and cozy. The owner, chef checks in with you to make sure everything is to your liking. Yes, the food is pricy but worth it. I'll be back. -- Gwen

First off the building is super cute. I love the very eclectic feel of the decor, very Hawaiian. The service was friendly and efficient. I got the loco mock which was absolutely delicious. Id eat it again in a heartbeat. And while the fries were good I dont feel like portion size warranted them being 8$. I was a little surprised that the little juice was 5, but im okay with that as I understand having to bring in the bottles. Ill come back but I won't be getting a side of fries.

    Inside of Nutella malasada

Came with a friend for her birthday dinner. Another friend had talked up their malasadas and considering she moved here from Hawaii barely a year ago, I figure she knows what she's talking about. We both got Loco Mocos, mine without egg. She loved hers. Mine was ok, edible, hot, the rice was perfectly cooked and just sticky enough to make for easy eating with chopsticks even when covered in gravy. While well salted, I somehow still found it a little bland. You get one decent size burger patty and one slice of spam. She got the guava lemonade- and loved it. I tried it even though guava isnt my thing - if it had been strawberry, id have loved it- sweet and tart and well flavored. We both got a Malasada- Nutella and Guava. Well sized, fried well, and pretty, but again, not something I would come back for unless someone else absolutely had to come here. The guys are nice, friendly and make sure my friend who has a food allergy is safe to eat here. The actual building is small, but quiet, so it is easy to chat with your companion, which is lovely. Overall it is worth a try if you are curious.

Conveniently located right next to my mom's apartment, who I was visiting. Very cute decor; colorful with lots of plants. The staff were all very nice and friendly. I got the mana burger and lumpia. The burger itself was delicious! Just a tad on the salty side, but still very good. The fries on the side were an extremely small serving, maybe 4-5 fries in total. They also tasted a bit old. The sauce they came with though was very yummy. I also got lumpia. $9 for two rolls seemed excessive. These were okay. They were bigger than other lumpia ice had in the past. The filling was also a bit salty. Wouldn't get the lumpia again, but the burger was very good.

Here in town for a wedding in the fall (off season). We wanted something quick, healthy and walking distance from the beach. This place is 3 blocks away, easy walk. The owner (former high end chef) opened this place up 7 years ago. Service is very friendly as the owner took our order. He was very friendly and gave us cool stickers. The ambiance is pretty chill like a proper snack shake in Honolulu. I would avoid the franchises and try this place out. Food was delicious and freshly prepared.

Amazing hidden gem! We will definitely be back! One of the best Pad Thai and chicken sandwiches I have ever had! Delicious!

Despite the friendly service and good vibes, we left slightly disappointed on our end unfortunately. We ordered the farmers poke, tsunami poke, musubi, and an Ube malasada. The savory items had familiar and yummy flavors however the rice in our poke seemed tough and undercooked. Like the haole rice you get as a side dish at Chili's or something. The spam musubi was okay. I could have done without the saucy frills and just had a better spam to rice ratio (more 1:1 than 1:3) The Ube malasada was opposite. Great texture, both the donut and the filling but either the Ube filling had turned or they gave us guava instead (for our sake let us pray that it is the latter). This was probably the most disappointing as it was our sweet treat at the end of a meal. When you're expecting to taste Ube it's quite shocking to take a bite and taste something tangy and tart. Overall, there was good and bad. Not sure if it's a "would go again" but a possible "worth a try."

Don't let the name Aloha "Snacks" fool ya. I was full after this amazing Chicken Sandwich. Get their homemade Sweet Tea with Lime...It's tasty and refreshing. I'm from Charlotte NC and visiting VA Beach. I always like to support local. Aloha Snacks did not disappoint. Found them on Yelp. PS...The guys behind the counter were courteous and friendly. They even came out and asked me how my sandwich was! Gotta luv that.

The Gnarly burger. So juicy you will need plenty of napkins!

If you find yourself in our fair city, I highly suggest to visit without a doubt Aloha Snacks. Not only for 1 reason. There are several. 1. The food. It's been a hot second since the last time I have been to Hawaii. Hubby went to meet his west coast team (most lived Hawaii) and a childhood friend of mine that lives out there now. 2. Aloha Snacks creator got his inspiration from his honeymoon. Chef Jesse competed against Bobby Flay in Beat Bobby Flay. In which Jesse won. I must say, with my kid being a fan of the show. 3. And bringing the west coast foods to the east coast. 4. Funky, fun and relaxed vibe here. In my humble opinion, this place has brought awesome west coast vibes to the east coast. The food here is phenomenal give it a try........

    Korean Fried Chix Wrap

This lately has been my go to spot working out at the Oceanfront. Tucked hidden away across from the BP gas station on Laskin Rd and Baltic is this gem of a restaurant. The menu has a good mix of Hawaiian favorites like loco moco, spam musubi, and poke. While also introducing a fusion of new favorites like Bulgogi cheesteak, Banh mi burger, Korean fried Chx wrap, and Collard noodles. I've had the pleasure of trying a few of these entrees already as I have been here a few times. Each and every time has been a deliciously new experience. For instance, that Korean friend chicken wrap introduces Kimchi, fried chicken, and a gochujang glaze which gives it a unique bit spicy, a bit funky, salty and savory taste. There is really nothing like it that I have tasted before. My absolute go to item on the menu. The server there Olivia is so nice and helpful especially if you're not sure what to order. The inside of the restaurant has a nice chill vibe to it that is a great representation of what the Oceanfront represents. Reasonable pricing and the ability to order through drive thru is a plus! This is the place to be!

Ask the Community - Aloha Snacks

Do they put a daily menu online anywhere? I find this business very annoying. They post photos of sushi sometimes on FB but nowhere do they explain when or what the sushi menu is. There is an outdated menu on their website but no mention of sushi.

They don't serve traditional sushi. They have a sushi option but I think it's called the farmer's sushi plate? It's delicious, but not your normal way of serving sushi.

    Are there gluten free options?

Yes, just ask the employees and they can point you in the right direction! I recommend the Tuna Poke Bowl, which can be made gluten free. They also have Tamari if you ask.

Is this establishment affiliated in any way with Aloha off of Princess Anne and the Norfolk location off Tidewater Dr?

Hey Justin! No, not at all!!! Totally different!

What is the WAM sauce that comes with the fries?

    It's a white American cheese sauce ??

I ordered the Black and Blue burger with sweet potatoes waffle fried, and my son ordered a bacon cheeseburger with regular fries. I got my burger with a little pink, and it was cooked to perfection! Sometimes I am hesitant to get pink because it's been to raw. The burger was not only cooked to perfection, I really loved the bleu cheese sauce and grilled onions. The waffle fries with the cinnamon/brown sugar sauce were great as well. My son also really enjoyed his burger, but he did say his fries tasted like shrimp. I tasted them, and they didn't taste like shrimp but they did have a distinct taste. I can't really describe it, but I didn't like it. Otherwise we had a great visit, one of the best burgers I've had, and really good, quick service! I am sure we were in and out in under an hour with everything still being super fresh!

The last time I set foot inside their Pleasure House Rd location was at least 10 years ago. I celebrated my birthday there as my friends were kind enough to take me out. It was a Sunday morning and I sought out a place that offered brunch. I noticed 1608 was open and decided to head over, especially since I haven't visited them in ages. When I walked in, I noticed their dining room is dimly lit - much darker than I remember. I was greeted immediately by a kind hostess and she proceeded to sit me at a nearby table and provided me with menus (one food, one alcohol). I took my time looking over the food menu, and in the meantime I ordered a pint of Center of the Universe's Bald Irishman and a bottle of Boylan's Black Cherry soda (they do not have a soda fountain). What made this visit memorable was that 1608's bartender, Hunter, was an old acquaintance from back in my restaurant days. He spotted me and came over to say hi. After my meal, I continued to catch up with him at the bar. His presence made a pleasant experience even more fantastic. I thought I was hungry, so I ordered 2 dishes - Smoked Ham Fried Rice and the Breakfast Burrito. According to Hunter, every item is made fresh in house. After biting into each, you could tell that's true. Both the fried rice and burrito were delicious and boasted lots of flavor. Although I prefer my fried rice a bit simpler (if you give me just garlic fried rice, I am SET), 1608's fried rice (veggies, garlic, soy, basmati rice, 2 runny eggs, smoked ham) had a lot going on, which made for a flavorful dish. I liked the rice and the burrito (Korean style fried chicken breast, scrambled eggs, cilantro lime, cheddar, pico de gallo) a lot. I didn't finish either because it was a lot of food (I really thought I was hungry, haha). But these leftovers turned into a fantastic dinner later on. 1608 looked clean and organized, although I thought it was a little too dark inside, at least for brunch service. That's not a dealbreaker since everything from the food to the service was as excellent as I remember. I hope to return soon with my mom. Regardless, I'll find my way back eventually. Thank you, 1608 Crafthouse! And great seeing you again, Hunter! JV

Our first table ended up being under a spotlight that was directly in our line of sight (it looked like it was meant for the specials board), so we asked to move. Staff was accommodating and got us to a better table quickly. The space itself is really nice. It was clean, rustically decorated, and the live plants in liquor bottles on the tables are a nice touch. Our server was friendly from the start and took drink orders right away. My daughter and I had sodas, and my husband ordered the Southern Charm Old Fashioned off the specials menu, which he enjoyed. The menu is on the smaller side, which we actually like. One unique detail was the option to "buy a round for the kitchen," which we thought was a really nice touch and decided to add it when we ordered our appetizer. We started with the fried deviled eggs after a friend recommended them. They were creative with three styles (classic with pickle, togarashi ginger, and crispy prosciutto), but overall a bit on the dry side and not as flavorful as we expected. We asked for Dijon, but they don't have it. Our server suggested and brought out the Baja dipping sauce instead, which did pair well and kind of improved them. My husband had the fish and chips and really enjoyed it. He said the fish was flaky and well cooked. I ordered the Union grilled cheese, which unfortunately seemed like it had been sitting a bit before being served, as the bottom was soggy. It was just okay overall and not particularly memorable for the price. The sweet potato fries on the side were the clear standout. They were crispy, the perfect balance of sweet and salty and honestly the best part of the dish. Our daughter had the kid's smashburger. It was exactly that. Service throughout the meal was good. She was friendly, attentive without being overbearing, and there when needed. The main disappointment came at the end. When our meals were served, the server actually offered sauces at the table (ketchup, mayo, ranch, etc.), and specifically suggested items like the baja sauce for the eggs and ranch to us. Because of that, we were surprised to see several charges for the sauces on the bill, especially since they were offered and recommended at the table with no mention of any additional cost. We were also charged a credit card fee, with no signage anywhere (entrance, hostess stand, or menu) indicating that paying with a card would include an extra charge. It just left an unnecessary sour note on an otherwise solid, casual meal. Nothing was bad, and nothing really stood out as exceptional, but the lack of transparency around those final charges really impacted the overall experience for us.

The staff explained I could sign up for rewards and I did. They also explained how. The ordering worked. You get a buzzer and it goes off and then you go pick your food up at the counter.. The tables are wonderful. They have a high top table. They have a really unique corner round table and then they have individual café tables. The decor is a beach vibe.. everything was nice and clean and they had gender, neutral restrooms. That were also nice and clean. I got the teriyaki char meal. With everything with no cheese. It was perfect. My first bite was amazing. Flavors were sweet and savory. They also have an area that you can put jalapeño peppers or different sauce and I love that extra added detail. They also had a good drink selection. I have a friend that is allergic to bacon and they do have bacon there, but they do not cook the burgers on the same grill as the bacon. So if you have a bacon allergy, you'll be happy to know that your burger will be safe.

This place fell off big time!…read more It was amazing when this older woman was running things, I seen a lot of new faces behind the counter & in the back kitchen today. They just opened & the lobby was absolutely filthy, the counters were all dirty with smudge & the floor in the lobby is a hazard. I think they are using their kitchen mop with all the grease on it for the dining area as well. It was so slippery to walk on & gross looking. It for sure did not smell pleasant while eating inside. Their burgers are usually amazing but today they were ridiculously oily & all our lettuce was red /brown & old looking. Our wrappers were drenched with oil & it made their food not enjoyable. My wife & I decided not to finish our food, we just wanted to get out of there faster

I decided to visit after walking up an appetite at First Landing State Park…read more I popped in & was told to sit wherever. I found a booth & looked over the menu. Decided to start with their fried pickles which were absolutely delicious! I also ordered a hamburger but was t impressed with it. It was cooked well but lacked flavor. The fries however were absolutely delicious!

The food is fine for the price but the manager (heavyset man with a beer gut, beard, and ponytail)…read moreof this specific establishment is a real tool. Ladies if you look good he might let you slide on free items (I've seen it myself) but fellas he's gonna hassle you even for sour cream if you don't tip him enough to his satisfaction and then complain to your face about it if you're a regular. To those that care: The specific incident that caused my review was I had went in on a tuesday for their "taco Tuesday" special. Now because I work by the oceanfront I frequent this place. I've been told they aren't supposed to let you walk out with to go orders on their taco Tuesday, but if I pay for and eat some of my food who is this manager to say I can't leave with a to go box(which in most cases I have), but I digress. I tried to do it today and the manager comes to me with a nasty attitude over me not tipping enough for his standards telling me I can't take my food to go because he doesn't feel I tip enough and "what's a 5 dollar tip gonna do for him". Keep in mind I told him I'm not ordering food for just myself I sometimes take lunch orders from work which is never more than 5 to go small tacos. I've never been rude to this man I'm a quiet person so I usually order wait and leave. I work for a reputable company that sees a lot of tourism and I often recommended this spot to our guests but due to this situation I will be advising people to avoid this place if you're not just going to drink at the end of the night on The Weekend. In the specific event the owner of the restaurant was there and confirmed they weren't supposed to be doing to go tacos which I can respect. What I dont respect is the manager picking and choosing when he wants to follow the rules of the establishment for his own gain.
