I saw the sign "Aloha Snacks" and I was excited to go in and get some authentic Hawaiian foods, sadly I was disappointed. First off a white guy owns it and has never lived in Hawaii, let alone did any research to try and pull off Hawaii foods. Where's the Kailua pork, where's the plate lunch, where's the mac salad? His "Poke" is a disaster. Come to find out his "sticky rice" isn't actually real sticky rice. I noticed a very inexperienced cook in the back doing something without wearing gloves, nasty. They obviously do not what they're doing. They have Span heavily displayed but hardly on the menu. There's no Hawaiian Sun drinks anywhere. It's Not Hawaiian food. This wannabe Chef has no idea what he's doing. He should stick to what he's fluent in. It's not Hawaiian food. I even asked this celebrity Chef if he had ever been to Hawaii, he said he traveled there once, once!!!!! Now he's an authority on Hawaiian food, that's hilarious. Lemme tell you Chefrie, you wouldn't know really good Hawaiian food if hit you in that face of yours. I of course do know Hawaiian food, I lived in Hawaii for ten years. I love Aloha Snacks. It took me a while to try because I was pretty loyal to other poke places in the area, however Aloha Snacks quality blows any other poke spot out of the water. The fish and produce always tastes fresh and has amazing flavors. They always have great craft beer in stock. It's a fun, upbeat vibe inside. 3 of us went to Aloha Snacks tonight for dinner and we were blown away by the hospitality, graciousness, friendliness, and how delish the food/wine were. Jessie, the owner and fine cuisine chef is the sweetest and most generous restaurant owner we have come across and trust me, my husband and I are world travelers. Between the 2 of us, we have travelled to over 30+ countries. He makes you feel like you are home. My husband and I love poke dishes as we have been to Hawaii multiple times. We had the Soy-cured tuna poke, Hurricane Bowl, and The Farmers poke dishes and they were all very fresh, delish and well flavored. We prefer our cuisine to be rather natural & fresh and that is what we received. Jessie gave us complimentary top notch glass of wine and homemade upside down Chartreuse pour over coconut ice cream shaved ice snow cone served in a cute tiki glass with an umbrella on top for dessert. A friend told me about this place, decided to check it out; clean, bright and fresh looking interior. Ordered the tuna poke bowl. For a $16.00 bowl, I was disappointed. Got it to go. The bowl had all of the listed ingredients although there was much less tuna than I expected for the price. Too many different sauces in bowl made for a mess in the bottom of the bowl. Harris Teeter has tuna poke for $12.99 a lb. Mostly tuna, I'll save my tuna poke purchase to Teeter. Fries were tasty, not sure what the "wam" sauce was, not impressed. The menu is down right delicious and offers a unique take on classic dishes from Hawaii in a laid back casual atmosphere. Besides a delicious menu covering everything from a Moco Loco to Burgers to Hawaiian Donuts called Malsadas, Aloha Snacks also has a drive thru service in case the weather in Virginia Beach doesn't quite feel like a warm summer breeze. I had the Clockwise Fries named after the method they use in cutting the potatoes to get that familiar waffle cut. The Li Hing Powder that is dusted on top of them is a unique seasoning that is made from salty dried plums so it covers the gamut of sweet, sour, and salty all in one. WAM sauce is served along side of them which is a white dipping sauce that is slightly sweet and one of a kind which makes these fries sooooo addicting. Not to mention the way they cook them is like a hybrid between potato chip and french fry with crunch on the outside and chewiness on the inside. I also had the Moco Loco with pulled pork and the portion was very generous. All of the ingredients worked together beautifully after mixing them around in the bowl and the farm egg salad really ties the meal together. The Hibiscus Sweet Tea was also very good and just the right sweetness while being able to enjoy the unique flavor. It's not southern sweet tea but an enjoyable experience all the same. I look forward to trying many other dishes and the coffee as well here from a restaurant that is off to a great start in executing delicious food reflective of the west coast islands! read more

We've always drove past this small Hawaiian shack every time we go to the Ocean Front. I'm finally glad to say that we have visited this place for the first time! The atmosphere is cute and relaxing and the items are made fresh from the kitchen. They have a wide selection of Hawaiian, Japanese , and Filipino inspired foods like poke bowls, musubi, and haupia Creme filled donuts. The Island Hopper Burger was the most juiciest burger we've ever had. The burger was drenched in sweet and tangy sauce and was a messy treat. The fries, however were too crunchy and salted that we couldn't taste the potato. We've been going to Aloha nearly once a week for the past month. Today, I ordered a farmer's poke bowl and discovered there to be plastic wrap mixed in with the lettuce. It wasn't a large piece but enough that it could've been a choking hazard had I swallowed it. As my husband is a former GM for a restaurant, he took it up to the woman working and informed her of our discovery; to which her response was "What do you want me to do about it?". No apology, no offer to recompense the situation. We had no intent of asking for our money back or for them to remake the food - just a simple acknowledgement of the oversight would had satisfied. Awesome place with some of the best poke I've ever had!! Go with the classic tuna poke bowl and add some salmon...you will not be disappointed. By far, probably the freshest tuna I've ever eaten. My spouse is an a islander born and raised but we were stoked to try this place out. They followed ALL the covid rules and are trying there best. The problem is it took almost 40 minutes for spam and rice. When it could've been easily 15 minutes. I'm the Director at a private preschool, and we had a fundraiser last Friday night night. Aloha Snacks was only asked to donate a small amount of food, because the restaurant is new and no one wanted to take advantage. On Friday morning, however, Chef Jesse Wykle learned that he was listed as one of the caterers for the event...and he decided that he couldn't assume that title unless he lived up to it. So, on one of his busiest afternoons of the week, with no advance notice, Jesse pulled together one of the most beautiful platters of food I've ever seen! Mountains of spicy Pig Kahuna barbecue, tons of shiso salmon and tuna poke, sticky rice, seaweed salad, AND a giant platter of Malasadas - those sugary filled doughnuts that make you forget about your diet. (There may have been more, but the line was so long that a lot was gone before I got to the table!) I heard person after person talking about how incredible the food was, and how it made the whole night seem that much more fun. I'm so grateful to Jesse and the Aloha Snacks staff for all the work that I know went into pulling that together. The amazing food helped to make a good night GREAT! Jesse, thank you!!
