I ordered oahu hawaiian bbq mix chicken, beef and short ribs with fried rice with macroni salad...the macroni salad was ok, the fried rice was ok the strips of chicken and beef was good. The short ribs was good as well. Tons of veggies underneigh the meats. The service cashier who took my order was very nice although the bubble tea machine was not ready ill come back next time to try the drinks I got a soda fountain drink and the soda fountain machine was not working property. It was hard to get the drink out when i pressed the cup to it. I ordered for take out I will come back next time to get the bubble tea, chinese drinks and other food.

Food was phenomenal!! Service was great as well! For food this good and a great price I was surprised to see not too many people there. Either way, we'll be back!

My family and I enjoyed our visit here. Being from the islands I recognize it's very hard to find a place on the east coast that does Hawaiian plate lunch meals well. But I was very impressed with the kalbi short ribs and the Mac salad. They stood out the most. Everything else was good. I'd rank flavor and freshness of meal at a 7/10. The Mac salad and short ribs I'd give a 9/10. Great location and large space inside. I'm not a fan of ordering from a screen. But that's just a personal preference.

While in the area looking for a quick bite to eat for lunch, I stopped by Oahu Hawaiian BBQ to try out their food. As soon as I walked in, I noticed the self-order kiosk which I really liked because it gave me time to look through each item to decide on what I wanted to order. The Hawaiian BBQ Mix caught my eye, it consisted of chicken, beef and short ribs along with macaroni salad, fried rice and broccoli. I figured that was the best item to order since it included a little bit of everything. I also ordered the Spam Musubi, which is a popular Hawaiian snack, and the Peach Berry Fruit Tea as well, which was one of their popular tea flavors. My food was ready fairly quickly and since I happened to run into a friend, I decided to dine in. The Spam Musubi was very good. I enjoyed the crispiness of the spam along with the rice and seaweed. The chicken, beef and short ribs were also delicious, very flavorful and went great with the fried rice. The Peach Berry Fruit Tea was refreshing but I would probably order less boba next time. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Unfortunately, they are located next to a nail shop and I kept smelling acetone and odor from the the nail shop while eating my food so I probably won't dine in next time but I highly recommend trying them out!

Man, I feel bad doing this, but the newly opened Oahu is not ready for the general public. There are issues that I would like to believe are simply new store/grand opening issues, but much of it I feel goes beyond that. Let's begin with the service. When I arrived, I noticed 3 people working. They were friendly when I spoke to them, but they were a little busy as there was a good bit of customers. Being busy is a good thing, though. I immediately went to the kiosk - I knew I wanted to try their Loco Moco (I feel like I have to order that whenever I try out a Hawai'ian eatery for the first time), and I ordered an appetizer - Musubi Trio. I also ordered a fountain soda, paid and the kiosk printed out my receipt. The receipt displays your order number. The staff, when your food's ready, will call out that number so you can pick it up at the counter. That's easy enough, since I've experienced that before at Supreme Wing (at Lynnhaven, whom I believe is changing their name to Aloha Hola) and L & L (in Chesapeake). A word of advice - keep your receipt handy. If you order a fountain drink, they will ask for it before they hand you a cup. As for the interior - all the walls were red. It reminded me of Supreme's interior, but I don't think red is a color used often in Hawai'i. I could be completely wrong about that, though, as I'm not thoroughly knowledgeable in Hawai'ian culture. The important thing is their facility looked clean, although dividers were built which made the dining area smaller. The wait for my food was a little long, but I came in expecting that since they're brand new. Besides, it was a lunch rush, so things got a little crazy. After about 15-20 minutes, my order was ready, but they weren't ready at the same time. I picked up my entree (loco moco) first, then I picked up the musubi trio less than 5 minutes later. At first glance, admittedly, the loco moco didn't look all that appealing. It was apparent both the macaroni salad and slaw were runny. The loco moco didn't look bad, but the presentation was... different. The patties weren't plated side by side, rather stacked, so the gravy only covered the top patty. And, instead of 2 sunny-side up eggs, there was only one. When I tried the loco moco, the patties were overcooked. They were dry and tough, and the gravy was salty. The rice and egg were fine, but I couldn't stomach the slaw (I took a small bite and immediately decided to leave the slaw alone). I'm convinced the slaw was bought from a local grocery - it was all liquid and the cabbage was soggy and limp. The mac salad was okay, but it was just as runny as the slaw. I enjoyed the musubi trio, though. Just in case, the musubi trio is usually a protein and rice in a seaweed wrap. The Trio typically consists of the following - 1 each of spam, BBQ chicken and katsu chicken. They weren't rolled all that well, and they didn't look like traditional musubi, but they tasted good. I would say that the Musubi Trio was the best part of my meal. The staff working during my visit was super nice. They ran into an issue while I was eating - their computer somehow deleted all the orders, so they visited each table to review customers' receipts to reconfirm orders. They were already busy due to volume, but this set them back further. Oahu, in my opinion, needs work, specifically with the quality of their food. Regardless of authenticity, the slaw (and mac salad) cannot be that soggy and watery, the gravy for the loco moco can't be that salty, and its patties can't be overcooked and tough. And I can't get over how the portion sizes of the loco moco's sides were nearly identical to the loco moco itself (i.e., I prefer more entree, less sides, especially if the sides aren't appealing). I'm gonna pass on Oahu for now but thank you for your efforts! JV

My friend and I tried this place and we were pleasantly surprised! The service was great. Ms. Ivy and her staff were helpful with what items were popular. The food took a few minutes to prepare but was hot and a good portion of they have serval sauces to choose from (labeling the bottles would be helpful). Mere macaroni salad was probably my least favorite. Just not a fan in general. Everything was tasty. I really liked the crab rangoons (not Hawaiian but delicious). I feel like they have a petty diverse menu that includes some true Hawaiian options. The portion size alone makes me feel like I would visit again. The spam musabi is also delish! They are large too! 4 STARS. I need to find a substitute for the macaroni salad and the sauces need to be labeled. Entering else was good!

Wow! This place just opened and it's amazing. Very nice decor and Hawaiian theme colors ! Also have private area for big parties. The service was nice and quick. They have good selection from BBQ, wings, seafood, chicken , pork, beef, tons of appetizers, Oahu dishes and OMG...they even have selection on Musubi. I ordered BBQ Short Ribs combo, and it was tender and delicious! Very tender and good size portions! I am excited to come back and try other tasty dishes. This Island girl will definitely come back!

The food was solid and the service was good. I was visiting from out of town and wanted Hawaiian BBQ and this restaurant was recommended. I ordered the Hawaiian beef and short rib plate that came with mac salad, rice, and vegetables. The value was good for the portion size. I could barely finish half. The meat was seasoned well and really did remind me of my time living in HI. The Mac salad was just ok, and the fried rice and veggies were good. Overall, we were all satisfied with our meals. I've had Hawaiian BBQ at another restaurant in VB last time I was there and Oahu Hawaiian BBQ was much better.

Got takeaway from new Hawaiian BBQ restaurant at Loehman's - Oahu The BBQ (grilled) shrimp were delicious. The fried shrimp were basic frozen butterflied shrimp with lots of breading. Macaroni salad was delicious. Fried rice tasted like white rice with a little extra flavor. Short ribs were cut into small pieces, salty, without sweet marinade flavor of Korean style. My bf liked the chicken katsu and BBQ (grilled) chicken. It came with katsu sauce and a sweet pineapple flavored sauce.

Everything tasted great. The shrimp was breaded to perfection. Spam Musubi was delicious and Thai tea was made exactly how I ordered it! I ordered take out and everything was ready when I came in and the lady at the counter was so nice and helpful!

We were fortunate to grab two seats at the bar--our favorite place to dine--and from the moment we arrived, the service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. We started with the Oysters Rockefeller, which arrived piping hot. The oysters were large, flavorful, and perfectly prepared--a wonderful way to begin the evening. Our Caesar salads followed shortly thereafter. Crisp romaine, fresh ingredients, and a well-balanced dressing made for another excellent course. For our entrées, we both chose the steak and lobster tail. My wife paired hers with the grilled asparagus, while I opted for the loaded mashed potatoes. Every component of the meal was cooked exactly as ordered, seasoned beautifully, and absolutely delicious. To top off the evening, the staff surprised my wife with a complimentary slice of cake garnished with fresh strawberries and mixed berries to help celebrate her birthday. Founded in 1939 by Robert Steinhilber, its storied dining legacy is continued by his descendants. Located at the dead end of Thalia Road, the back of the restaurant has a gorgeous view of one of the tributaries at the end of the western branch of the historic Lynnhaven River. The restaurant is a wonderful place to bring visiting relatives and friends for an always fine dining experience. I wasn't surprised when my son made the choice of Steinhilbers for Mither's Day Brunch. What I was surprised by was that the restaurant, which offers only dinner, was actually serving a Mother's Day Brunch. When we arrived we were seated promptly at a table with a waterfront view. I mentioned to the hostess that throughout my Aunt's life, she had come every Friday. Timing was always when the restaurant opened, so she could get her favorite table. The hostess asked which had been her table. As I pointed it out, decades of family memories at the restaurant flooded through my mind. There was no doubt that we would order from the brunch menu. Only coffee had begun our day. We did begin with Oysters when we learned that they were Lynnhaven. The special taste & salinity of them is like no other. The Mother's Day Brunch menu featured 4 items. My son chose well. I didn't. His choice was the Soft-Shell Crab Benedict with Poached egg, crispy soft-shelled crab, Cajun hollandaise & home fries. Having been on an eating healthy and light regiment, I chose the Spinach and Mushroom Omelette with Cheddar Cheese & home fries. It was the first menu choice in 40 years that wasn't quality. The omelette was dry with the ends thin and overcooked. It was a disappointing menu item from a restaurant I've loved for decades. Of course I'll return. But I'll never again order an omelette at a special event brunch.

The last time I set foot inside their Pleasure House Rd location was at least 10 years ago. I celebrated my birthday there as my friends were kind enough to take me out. It was a Sunday morning and I sought out a place that offered brunch. I noticed 1608 was open and decided to head over, especially since I haven't visited them in ages. When I walked in, I noticed their dining room is dimly lit - much darker than I remember. I was greeted immediately by a kind hostess and she proceeded to sit me at a nearby table and provided me with menus (one food, one alcohol). I took my time looking over the food menu, and in the meantime I ordered a pint of Center of the Universe's Bald Irishman and a bottle of Boylan's Black Cherry soda (they do not have a soda fountain). What made this visit memorable was that 1608's bartender, Hunter, was an old acquaintance from back in my restaurant days. He spotted me and came over to say hi. After my meal, I continued to catch up with him at the bar. His presence made a pleasant experience even more fantastic. I thought I was hungry, so I ordered 2 dishes - Smoked Ham Fried Rice and the Breakfast Burrito. According to Hunter, every item is made fresh in house. After biting into each, you could tell that's true. Both the fried rice and burrito were delicious and boasted lots of flavor. Although I prefer my fried rice a bit simpler (if you give me just garlic fried rice, I am SET), 1608's fried rice (veggies, garlic, soy, basmati rice, 2 runny eggs, smoked ham) had a lot going on, which made for a flavorful dish. I liked the rice and the burrito (Korean style fried chicken breast, scrambled eggs, cilantro lime, cheddar, pico de gallo) a lot. I didn't finish either because it was a lot of food (I really thought I was hungry, haha). But these leftovers turned into a fantastic dinner later on. 1608 looked clean and organized, although I thought it was a little too dark inside, at least for brunch service. That's not a dealbreaker since everything from the food to the service was as excellent as I remember. I hope to return soon with my mom. Regardless, I'll find my way back eventually. Thank you, 1608 Crafthouse! And great seeing you again, Hunter! JV

From the moment we arrived, the hostess, Milk, was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and professional. She made us feel valued from the start, and throughout the evening she continued to provide excellent service to every table she assisted. She truly deserves recognition and a promotion. Unfortunately, our assigned server provided one of the worst dining experiences I've had. After taking our food and drink order, she returned only with our drinks and then disappeared for 15-20 minutes without checking on us. My friend's daughter's entrée arrived before our appetizers, and our appetizer--fried hard chicken wings--didn't arrive until about 20 minutes later. When we asked about the delay, the server said it was because we requested the wings to be fried hard. She then made a comment about "Black people in the kitchen cooking." Whether she intended it as a joke or not, the comment was unprofessional and made us uncomfortable. Because of the poor service and attitude, we asked if another server could assist us. While Milk continued to be wonderful, another employee with purple-blue hair was also very rude when we asked for assistance. Her attitude was dismissive and unpleasant. Later in the evening, around 11 p.m., I asked a staff member near the kitchen if they had lids for our seafood buckets. She responded "No" with an attitude. I then asked if they had to-go cups, and she said they did but claimed she was off duty. Less than 30 seconds later, she went behind the bar and began making and serving drinks, which made her response even more confusing. Shortly afterward, she began arguing with my friend at our table for no apparent reason. At that point, we asked Milk to get the manager. The manager came over, sat down with us, listened to our concerns, and apologized. He explained that he was actually off that day but had come in to help support the restaurant. We appreciated that he took the time to hear us out and said he would address the issues with his staff. The food itself was good, but good food cannot make up for poor customer service and disrespectful attitudes. We wanted this to be a memorable celebration for my friend's daughter, not an evening spent dealing with rude employees. Customer service is just as important as the food. Sadly, because of the experience we had, we will not be returning. I hope management invests in better customer service training because employees like Milk show what great hospitality should look like, while others left a very negative impression.

Started with the delicious Maryland crab soup, then onto clam strips. Even the hush puppies were great (usually not a fan). Friendly waitress gave just enough attention. It was challenging to find parking but thankfully, we were able to find a spot right in the front. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and were seated right away. With it being lunch time, we assumed we would be able to grab some lunch but to our surprise, they were serving brunch and we were only able to order off the brunch menu. We were slightly confused and definitely didn't have taste for breakfast items so we had to choose from a small selection of non-breakfast items. We started with Palomas. The drink menu only included the drink prices for Happy Hour, and it definitely wasn't Happy Hour, so we weren't sure how much the drinks were. The server mentioned one price, then came back and told us another price but either way, all that would've been eliminated if the prices were on the menu. After looking over the brunch menu, my friend didn't see anything appetizing so she asked if they could make a BLT Sandwich, which wasn't on the menu, and they agreed. I decided on the Crab Cake Sandwich. The food was served in decent time. My friend had an end piece of tomato on her sandwich, which was disappointing. Our server took her sweet time checking on us so and we literally had to flag down another server just to get ketchup. My sandwich didn't even come with remoulade sauce that was supposed to be added. I did enjoy my sandwich though, it was very tasty. I also ordered the Bourbon Glaze Wings 'to-go' and they were delicious. From not being able to order from a lunch menu, to our server not being attentive at all, our experience wasn't that great. We also had to battle flies the entire time we were there, and we were sitting inside so that was a bit frustrating. The restaurant is located right by the Marina and it has great views but the service left a lot to be desired. I may return for dinner in hopes of a better experience but it probably won't be any time soon.

Finding out that he's a military veteran was a big plus for me and definitely added to the experience. The restaurant itself is small and cozy with seating for about seven people which gives it a welcoming personal feel. As soon as you walk in you're greeted warmly and made to feel right at home. I ordered the Crabby Cali Cake combo sandwich and it was delicious. You can tell care goes into the food the homemade sauce really brought everything together and made the sandwich stand out. Simple flavorful and satisfying. If you're looking for a friendly atmosphere and quality seafood with a personal touch this spot is worth checking out.

They have a few seats inside near the windows if you want to eat there, and the atmosphere was great. They had some old-school 90s and 2000s R&B playing, which immediately set the tone for me. I believe I was talking to the owner while I was there, and one thing that stood out was how he greeted everyone with a smile. I don't take customer service like that for granted. You could tell he genuinely enjoys what he does, and that made the experience even better. As for the food, everything was very well seasoned and flavorful. I ordered the fish and shrimp basket, and it was exactly what I was looking for. I also tried the wings, and those were good as well. Honestly, I don't have any complaints about the meal. They don't have any specialty house-made drinks, just your standard Pepsi and Coca-Cola products, but that wasn't a big deal to me because the food was the star of the show. Overall, this was a great experience. If I'm back in Virginia Beach, I'll definitely be stopping by again to try some of the other items on the menu. This is a spot I'd recommend if you're looking for good seafood and good people.
