This place is awesome and just the uniqueness and flavors of the ube coconut pancake earns this place 5 stars. It's a casual breakfast/brunch spot with plenty of parking. Order at the counter, take your order number to select a table indoor or outside in the patio and your food will be brought to you. The menu board was quite extensive and we decided on some savory and sweet options. For my savory plate, I had the Kahlua pork omelette with a side of house potatoes (you can also choose rice, or fruit, or toast). We had a POG (pineapple, orange, guava) juice and the ube coconut pancake (short stack with 2 pancakes). The savory food came out super quick and the pancakes came a few minutes later. Everything was so tasty, lots of pork in the omelette although my potatoes ended up a bit soggier than my preference. The pancakes were the star of the show where the pancakes themselves were ube in flavor in addition to the sauce and it was topped with generous helping of coconut flakes. This was my first time trying aloha stacks and we got the Chicken Katsu and an omelette. We went in the morning and the line was insanely long, I believe we waited about half an hour in line before being able to order. When we finally ordered and sat down we waited another 45 minutes to get our food. We sat outside because there was no seating available inside the restaurant. We were close to canceling the food because of the wait time. So I definitely think that needs to be worked on. The Katsu tasted pretty good but the omelette we ordered wasn't good at all. It was cold and dry and overall very unpleasant. We also tried the ube pancakes and they were tasty. Absolutely love Aloha Stacks and has been a go-to spot for family breakfast on weekends!!! Now that there's two locations in Irvine, the lines/wait aren't as terrible as the first location. They're also super efficient at taking orders and getting your food out quickly. Outside seating is plenty and allows the kids to get a little louder than in a large dining hall. On to the food... What we love is that everything that they do is delicious and there's a great balance sweet and savory options. The kids absolutely love their pancakes! They're always super fluffy with great flavor. When I'm feeling like dessert for breakfast, the Banana Mac'Nut and Ube Coconut pancakes are both divine! Highly recommend asking for coconut syrup on the side! I was really excited to visit this place, but my experience wasn't the best. They had a really long line to start off, ordered my food and it took a while for the food to come out. When my omelette came, the first thing I noticed was the piece of foil sticking out of it. I did request if they can make a new one (which they were kind enough to do!) but as a first time experience, it was quite disappointing. There were a lot of great options for food, but I ended up ordering the guava French toast and a green tea latte. The green tea latte was perfectly sweet and the guava French toast was absolutely delectable. My boyfriend got the cookies and cream pancakes, which were also delicious. The seating area definitely reminded me of some of the places I have gone to when I visited Hawaii. There were some really nice landscaping, a well-maintained patio, and the weather was perfect. The ambiance, food, and service are all really! Only complaint is how long the lines can get but that's how you know everything is great. Lots of outdoor seating which is really nice especially during brunch but be careful because that's when the line is way out the door. It goes relatively quick though and the food doesn't take too long to come out either. I had the guava toffee french toast which sounds good until you realize there's sour cream on it but trust it, it works really well together. The breakfast burrito with Portuguese sausage was also really good, both of the items were really yummy with good portions for the price. The highlights for us are the French toast and pancakes. Our favorite is the guava toffee French toast. We prefer it over the captain mac nut which was recommended on the menu. The captain Mac nut felt a bit too dry compared to guava toffee which comes with its own guava sauce and it's delicious! The pancakes here are also top notch! There's always plenty of people in line so the good thing about that is there's enough time to decide what to order. On my first visit, I ordered the loco moco with Portuguese sausage and gravy on the side. This was just okay... I asked for my eggs to be over easy and they were half raw. I really didn't want to be fussy so I folded my hot white rice into it, hoping it would "cook" it little more. The sausage was tasty and the gravy reminded me of KFC gravy! What happened to this place? Before today, we had eaten here 3 times before and it was always really good. Today, however, was a different story. We got our usual - stacks cheeseburger, breakfast combo that includes eggs, protein, and potatoes, and 2 breakfast burritos for the kids. The cheeseburger used to come with a soft delicious brioche bun and tasty patty. The new bun looks and tastes like they went next door to Ralph's and bought it off the expired date rack. The patty was flavorless and cold when it was served. The breakfast was similar - no flavor or seasoning and the potatoes were soggy because they weren't cooked to be crispy on the outside. The burritos are usually a hit with the kids but they asked me not to order from here anymore. We're disappointed because this place was fantastic before. I should have known better to keep my expectations for a vegan menu super low. In most instances I usually I have to resort to the healthy options or just French fries but just bc I eat plant based doesn't mean I want to eat fruit and salads lol. Once we got there we waited a while in line and i just assumed maybe they might have something displayed on the menu that indicated if they would be out of something --so i was hopeful for sure! Once we got to the front to place our orders, the person at the register said "oh we don't have anything on the vegan menu except for the sunrise bowl" (oatmeal with fruit). Well we were already waiting so I just went for it. Once we got our food, mine was exactly what it said it was...plain oatmeal with berries and a few slivered almonds. Maybe I would be a little more into it if say they made an oatmeal with Hawaiian style toppings (coconut, mac nuts, tropical fruit...idk??). Either way I wouldn't make oatmeal my first choice anyway so not sure. Safe to say I was super let down :( My hubs got the regular loco moco and he said it was nothing to write home about. Def similar to the loco moco we get in HI but he said he probably wouldn't get it again. He said he should have just gotten spam and eggs but we're Filipino and he could make a pretty good spam silog at home lol. Stacks has long been my favorite all around local breakfast place in the Irvine area, and I'm glad the Aloha Stacks finally opened up in the Wodbury Plaza. Aloha Stacks is a fast casual restaurant that serves traditional breakfast (pancakes, waffles, omelettes) and lunch (sandwiches and burgers) items and also has a mix of hawaiian options (loco mocos, plate lunches). Its great food and large portions at fair prices. Like the Walnut Stacks location, this Aloha Stacks is fairly small (indoor seating is 25-30 seats) but has plenty of seating outdoors. I tried: -loco moco with hamburger patty and fried rice -california omelette (bacon, swiss cheese, and avocado) -pancakes All were great. The loco moco (rice, gravy, meat, and eggs) is a classic dish here, and one of the better loco mocos I've had in Cali. I'm looking forward to trying the other dishes here, I'll be back! read more
