Omg why didn't Kei Coffee House exist when I used to live in Orange County wahhh?! I was an avid supporter of all of the Kei Concepts restaurants during my SoCal era, so I was really curious to check out Kei Coffee House, but I don't visit OC that often, so it was on the backburner for a while. Luckily, during my (what has become) annual visit, my friend suggested coming here for an early morning cuppa after he swooped me from SNA, so I didn't have to wait THAT long. I got the pandan coconut matcha, and it was amazinggg, tasted straight up like the essence of a tropical paradise. This is a really great addition to OC and a place I look forward to visiting again. Considering all the hype and good reviews for this place, I was pretty disappointed with the matcha. I got the Earl Grey Matcha and it was beyond milky. Barely any matcha taste or even earl grey taste. It looks like my drink was hastily made with limited ingredients which was just mostly milk. I didn't even want to finish it. What saved this experience was trying my friend's Corn Cheese Cookie which was buttery, crunchy, moist, and flavorful. I also liked the ambiance with the big and pretty interior with some outdoor seating. They also have lots of free parking in the lot around the restaurant. I also want to quickly shout out their video displays showcasing the drinks and food items. It's such a cool touch and really helps them stand out. There are so many options to choose from between the drinks and food, and honestly, I'm not mad about it. Between my partner and me (we ordered a lot), we got the London Fog Matcha, Banana Matcha, Popcorn Chicken, Longanisa Burrito, and a Corn Cheese Cookie. Keeping it simple: everything was absolutely delicious. As of the date of this review, this is the best Earl Grey Matcha I've had. It was perfectly balanced between the floral Earl Grey notes and the grassiness of the matcha. The Longanisa Burrito was hearty and came served with Kei Concept's aji verde sauce. Lastly, I have to call out their Corn Cheese Cookie. It had such a great balance of savory and sweet, and I'm genuinely going to try my best to recreate this at home since I'm in the Bay Area and won't have easy access to it anymore :(. The food, especially the burrito, is solid like the other Kei Concept spots. The drinks are just okay though. Besides the Vietnamese coffee, most of the coffee drinks taste incredibly weak. The matcha has also been disappointing every time I've tried it since their grand opening- too milky and watered down despite being ceremonial grade. The hojicha is good. I didn't have a great first visit of this place a few months ago but I'm glad I came back. I ordered their yogurt cloud lychee jasmine tea and it was so good. I genuinely would come back just for the yogurt cloud drinks. The foam on top is yogurty and is tangy and creamy and goes perfect with the bottom tea part of the drink. The only thing I would say is that the drink was a bit too sweet and i would get less sweet next time. I have been to other locations of Kei Concepts so I knew this was gonna be good, yet it still exceeded my expectations! We came for two things specifically: sweet potato creme brulee latte and the sweet corn latte. Both were equally amazing and I can't even pick a favorite, but I guess I would go with the sweet potato, since it's more unique and I haven't had many iced versions. Both of these flavors are fragrant, and you can tell the flavor even before you take a sip. This location is very spacious and despite all of the seating, it was still full for a Friday afternoon. They do have some outdoor seating as well. We also shared the kinako hojicha soft serve, which was yummy, but the kinako is only on the top layer so once you finish that, it's pretty much gone. We also wanted to try the actual roasted bruleed sweet potato but didn't see it on the menu in person, so I'm not sure if it's a seasonal thing. Very nice coffee shop, parking is a bit hard to find sometimes as they get really busy. Service is very good. It has lots of seating and is a good place to chill with friends, but maybe isn't the best for working as it can be loud due to how busy they can get. Drinks are overall just okay. I've had a variety of drinks - Tried the Strawberry Double Matcha this time, and it was lacking both the matcha AND strawberry flavor! The food is pretty yummy and fairly consistent in quality. It's light and bright and airy. The pastries are displayed beautifully, which makes them all the more appealing. The menu is expansive with lots of fun and different flavors. They also have several savory options for those looking for a meal. There are several ways to order. You can order online ahead of time, at a kiosk or at a cashier. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I ordered the top seller, the banana toffee latte as well as a hot butterscotch latte, a walnut chocolate chip cookie and an egg sando. Kei Coffee House was our first stop for our food adventure in the OC area. This place is busy and for good reason. I didn't have an opportunity to take any photos of the inside because people were coming in and out, and all the tables were occupied. Looking up the menu before will help move the process along more quickly. We were here only for the matcha drinks; they did not disappoint! I ordered the Banana Matcha without the toppings (toffee bits) and my husband ordered the Pandan Coconut Matcha. These drinks already include oat milk. Bonus for me I didn't have to ask for it! I've had Banana Matcha from other cafes and get slightly disappointed because I could barely taste the banana. Kei Coffee does it right! When I saw the puree at the top, I already knew this was going to be good. It balanced the bitterness from the matcha so nicely. It was sweet (not sickly sweet), tasty, and there was just enough where I could still taste the matcha. I wanted to go back and get another one. I tried my husband's drink as well. I've been to Kei Coffee House many times, and every visit leaves me satisfied with both the service and the drinks. The beverages are well balanced -- I never even need to ask for less sugar because they're perfectly sweet without being overwhelming. The only small thing is that the drinks sometimes come with a bit too much ice, but I usually forget to request less ice anyway, so it's not a big deal. Today I also ordered the popcorn chicken, and it was really good. The seasoning was just right, not too salty. The portion size was reasonable, and the chicken was very juicy -- not dry or overcooked at all. The shop itself is beautiful, clean, and spacious, which makes me enjoy coming here even more whenever I want a good cup of coffee. Finally stopped by this place after seeing several social media posts! Service was pretty fast for how busy they were on a Saturday. Lots of places to sit but it was still pretty full. Coffee was good, but would be better if they used nugget ice instead. Got the hotteok and pandan latte, both solid choices. We also got two cookies (walnut chocolate chip and matcha white chocolate). They were about $5.5-$6, they were good but nothing too special for us to get them again. The walnut cookie had maybe 2 pieces of small walnut inside and tasted mostly like a typical chocolate chip cookie. Also got the egg sando which I was excited about but it was alright. This place has officially taken up permanent space in my mind because I am in love with their signature Toasted Marshmallow Hot Chocolate. I think about this drink way too often. While it doesn't have an ultra-rich chocolate base, I actually prefer that over the overwhelming chocolate intensity of the Toasted Marshmallow Double Chocolate. If anything, I wish there were a perfect middle ground between the two, but nonetheless, this hot chocolate is incredible. What truly makes it unforgettable is the marshmallow rim. I The interior of the coffee house is very spacious and beautifully designed. Even though it's almost always crowded, the location itself is large enough that it doesn't feel claustrophobic. One thing to note: they limit WiFi usage based on your receipt, so you only get access for a set amount of time. I understand this is likely their way of managing crowd flow or encouraging turnover, but it can be a bit of a downside if you're hoping to camp out for a while. I finally made my way here a year later, and all I really want to say is, Never Again. No coffeeshop is worth waiting in such long lines and dealing with this level of overcrowding. It was a madhouse when my friend and I arrived, and it took us forever to find seats, despite how spacious the coffeehouse is. We were literally hovering over a couple who appeared to be packing up in order to snatch their seats before anyone else could. Anyways, because I already knew I was unlikely to return, my friend and I ordered a bunch of drinks and food to make the most of our trek out here. The London fog matcha is a matcha latte with earl grey and vanilla, and it was one of the better drinks we ordered. My favorite was the toasted marshmallow white chocolate matcha, which is one of their new seasonal drinks and perfect for sweater weather. We also tried the Hottoek latte - another seasonal drink made with brown sugar, cinnamon, roasted sesame seeds and walnut; it was decent. Last one was the orange jasmine tea, which was refreshing but I'm not the biggest fan of orange juice so this one wasn't for me. As for the food, we purchased their Spicy popcorn chicken with yuzu mayo and a few cookies. The food was significantly better than the drinks, especially the cookies. My favorite was the matcha white chocolate cookie followed by the corn cheese cookie, but the hotteok cookie was good too. Bonus: it was Lunar New Year, and the place was buzzing. Once I finally found parking and wandered in, the energy was great--packed house, people in traditional attire, and a lively vibe. I didn't even plan on sitting down. My goal was a banana toffee latte (which sounded dangerously good), but somehow that turned into an excellent chocolate chip cookie and a coconut yogurt. Healthy? Debatable. Enjoyable? Absolutely. The space is huge with tons of seating options--tables, cozy chairs, bar-style seating, and little corners where people were hanging out. The menu has a wide variety of options, and I ordered the banana hojicha latte, which was incredibly delicious!! The main drawback was the temperature. The back of the café was extremely cold. Even with layers, I was unable to stay longer than an hour. I tried moving to different areas, but the only comfortable seating was closer to the front. It was disappointing to make the long drive and not be able to fully utilize the space due to the temperature. This seems like an easy issue to address. There was a line to order that led to a cashier or a self ordering screen. We ordered from the kiosk since that was the first available option when we got to the front. My boyfriend ordered the Salted Cream Vietnamese Coffee ($6.50) and I wanted to try something unique so I ordered the Pistachio Quattro Latte ($7) less sweet. We also ordered an Almond Croissant ($5.50). Staff was super courteous and friendly. They had a sign at the pick up counter that they would be more than happy to remake your drink if you don't like it. Just watching them, I can tell the QC staff calling the customers to get their drinks was really on top of things because he corrected his team and sent some items back for remake. I like his energy! We both enjoyed our drinks, but I prefer the salted cream Vietnamese coffee. The pistachio quattro latte was good but the quattro of milks might have been overpowering for the pistachio and the pistachio flavor faded as I got to the bottom of the drink. The almond croissant is huge. It's double the size of your average croissant out there. I enjoyed it but not super notable other than its' massive size. Looking forward to coming back and trying more of their drinks in the future. There was a Turon Latte I was eying and definitely want to try next time. One of the most underwhelming coffee shop experiences of my life and I have been to ALOT of coffee shops! The inside is super spacious. That was the only good aspect of this coffee shop. Ordered the matcha latte and the double strawberry matcha latte. I asked the matcha latte to be made with Almond milk which they don't carry. They only had Macadamia nut milk which I thought was super weird. These days everywhere carries all sorts of milk alternatives, but I guess not here. The size of their hot drink is honestly laughable. It is more like a short size than regular size and it is still like $7 which is crazy. The double strawberry latte (half sweet) tasted good but nothing special considering ALL the hype. The matcha latte tasted "disgusting" per my sister. She wasn't there when I got the drink or she would have had them change it right then! Honestly, not sure how this place has this many good reviews. They are either fake reviews or they are mostly the "influencers" reviews who don't know what real matcha drinks should taste like. I love Kei Coffee! I have been needing coffee a lot more lately and this is one of my favorite places to go. The line isn't as bad as it was when it first opened but the cafe is always packed and there usually aren't many free places to sit. It is super cute inside and a great place to study though! Service is great and I like that I can order from the kiosk. The matcha and coffee here are both strong and delicious! I really like to try their seasonal flavors that rotate. Food wise, I love the longanisa burrito with their green salsa. I also love the yuzu sauces that comes with their popcorn chicken. I definitely want to try more of their sweets because they always look soo good in the display cases! read more

Kei Coffee House expands the Kei Concepts group into the cafe space with decent success. Being a fan of several of their restaurants, I was eager to check out Kei Coffee House. I especially loved their Egg Coffee at Nep so I could only imagine a more expansive menu being on point. When you enter, KCH has the vibe of most of their other places: modern and chic with natural touches so it doesn't feel too sterile. On a Saturday afternoon when I went, the vibe inside was definitely louder than a typical cafe so I would say not the best choice for getting study, but probably okay for a place to sit and chat. However, since it is quite busy, there were barely enough places to sit though there was decent turn over of seats. You can order in the line, but they also have a QR code so you can skip the line and order through your phone. Here is what I tried: Pistachio Quattro Latte (4/5): I enjoyed the smooth creamy texture of the pistachio foam with the right amount of nuttiness that wasn't too overpowering. I even liked the pistachio crumble on top that provided a neat texture. I wished there was a little more coffee, but otherwise i would try again! Seasonal Hotteok Latte (3.5/5): As a fan of hotteok, I would say this was a little disappointing. Perhaps had too high of an expectation? It read more like a horchata with seeds which is not bad, but again was missing any hint of coffee flavor. The service was fairly quick considering how busy they were. Besides drinks, they do have a limited food menu as well as pastries which I may try next time. Though I may want to come back when they are less busy. Overall, Kei Coffee House was a decent addition to the Kei Coffee House brand where the drinks were good enough for me to come back to try some of the other stuff on their menu. read more

Such a big and busy coffee shop. We were lucky to all get parking right away. The line inside looked intimidating but it moved quickly and we got our drinks in a fair amount of time. There was plenty of seating but we couldn't find enough seats for 6 of us inside. It was a little chilly out but we sat outside and enjoyed all of our drinks. I got the Vietnamese ice coffee and it was so good, one of the best I've had. My kids all got different drinks that I can't remember what but everyone loved them. I was disappointed to learn about their reward program from my daughter after we sat. I wish the cashier would have told me since I did spend almost $40 on drinks. read more
