No servers here, you write what you want on a piece of paper, bring it to the register and the girl puts your order in. My water was never empty cause I kept refilling it myself, I had enough ginger cause, again I got it myself. You get your own utensils, water, sauces and you clean up after yourself. Simple, fast and easy. I'm no sushi guru and can't tell the difference between bad and good sushi, as long as it doesn't smell right??!! I have found my new fav sushi spot! They have a large selection of tasty sushi rolls. Their happy hours are from 5pm to 12pm everyday where the rolls are between 30 to 50% off. The sushi rolls are 8 slices big on a roll about 8 or 9 inches long. 3 rolls is large enough for 2 adults if you add an appetizer like miso soup. The restaurant is unlike any other. There is no table service here. You just go in, find a seat, look at the menu and write down what you want. Then you go up to the cashier and bring the paper with your order and pay for it. You get your own water, ginger, wasabi, utensils, etc and you cleanup after yourself by putting all your plates in two large buckets. Best of all, there is no tipping!!! Parking is plentiful and restroom is past the kitchen. There is a beverage vending machine serving various Japanese drinks such as Calpico at a reasonable price. Expect to pay between $10-$15 a person. It can be as expensive or cheap as you want. The menu may vary depending on what they have in stock, but they have plenty of options. As a former sushi chef of over 10 years and my lady currently a server at a sushi restaurant. We are glad to have found this sushi restaurant and all of its delicious offerings. Aloha Sushi is located in it's own plaza that is right next door to the 7-11 plaza (you cannot drive into Aloha Sushi's parking lot through the 7-11 plaza). Parking in this small lot is limited but doubt that it ever really gets super busy here the many times I have driven by this place at all hours of the day. My husband and I came by Aloha Sushi this past Saturday around 8:30 for a late dinner and take advantage of their happy hour special of 30-50% off selected rolls (12 pm- 4 pm & 8 pm- 12 am every day). Anyways, this restaurant is unique in which it is a self serve style eatery. You can look over the menu and write down the items you wish to order. Then head towards the front and order your items on a touch screen pad. Then you can sit back at your table and wait for your meal to arrive. This was our first time here and an employee showed us how the set up worked. She helped us order the items on the touch screen and told us that because everything is self serve, you do not tip. Anyways, we got our own plates and water. Shortly after ordering, our order was brought to us by the friendly employee. We ended up getting: Hot Night, $12.98 (Happy Hour $7.99), prior to tax- This roll has a little dollop of spicy sauce on top of a piece of salmon, that is on top of a roll. Tasty, but found this to be spicy (my husband is the spicy eater in this relationship). Alaskan, $11.98, (Happy Hour $6.99), prior to tax- I liked this roll, with the tempura shrimp in between the roll. I enjoyed eating the little masago and popping them in my mouth. Salmon Crunch, $10.98 (Happy Hour $5.99), prior to tax- The fried tempura/ panko pieces topping this roll added a nice hint of texture. There is a lot of sauce on this roll though and wished they would go easy on the sauce for this one. Rainbow, $11.98 (Happy Hour $6.99) prior to tax- I like rainbow rolls in general because of the fresh pieces of sashimi that is rolled on top of the roll itself. But this particular rainbow wasn't that good. The fish didn't taste as fresh as the other rolls we had. I probably wouldn't order this one again. ------------------------- (Total= $31.57, after tax. Based on Happy Hour price) Dinner was enjoyable for the most part for the price we paid. Honestly for the price and quality, this place is pretty good and will definitely be back in the future.
