spicy ahi bi bim bap- you choose your 5 veggies!
    Joy N.

I'm obsessed with Aloha Sushi. I seriously come here at least 2x/week for their vegetable bi bim bap. Located in the lobby of Topa Financial Center, Aloha Sushi is one of the last eating places left in our building. Thank goodness they are still here because I'd be saddest to see them leave. During lunch, they have a lot of pre-made bentos that you can select from, along with some sushi rolls and sides. You can also order sushi, curry and ramen off of the menu and wait for them to make it then. But the only reason I come here is for their bi bim bap. Order your bi bim bap at the cash register and you can do it with just vegetables and choice of white/brown rice. Then you can also add on either chicken, bbq beef, spicy ahi or poke. Their spicy ahi is really good, but it's really just a dollop so I'd stick to the vegetable bowl. After you pay for the bowl, then you select your 5 veggies--they usually have about 10 different ones to choose from so selection is good. Finally, they pour a light sauce on it, but give you the spicy Korean red sauce on the side (which I like that it's separate) and pack you a bowl of miso soup! Enjoy!!

Wanted a quick bite but was too lazy to leave the building so decided to head downstairs to Aloha Sushi. I've been here a couple times for breakfast and lunch and it's always just okay. The ladies here are always so friendly. On this occasion I had the spicy ahi with tempura donburi and I was very surprised at how flavorful it was. Good sized portion for only $7.99. sushi rice topped with spicy Ahi and two crispy shrimp tempura. Being Korean owned it also included a small serving of choi sum and Jap chae. Lots of flavor and I'd certainly get it again.

Was looking for a place to eat ramen on my lunch break. This place was the best distance and it looked good. I ordered the beef mandoo ramen. Very good. It hit the spot to be honest. It comes out hot so gotta let it cool down a bit. I also ordered this avocado roll. Also super yummy. I loves it. I think I'm gonna be home here a lot more now that I know the food is good.

Spicy ahi and shrimp tempura donburi, $9!

Located in Topa tower, this aloha sushi is my go to lunch spot (I work across the street so you can't beat the convenience!) The ladies that work here are super sweet and the food takes no longer than a few minutes to make. I usually go for the spicy ahi donburi and it comes with a hefty portion of white rice, chop chae, a good amount of spicy ahi (not great, but good!) and a tasty leafy green side dish that I can't remember the name of for $8! A good bang for your buck kind of place!

Cue to the koto! (*traditional Japanese instrument) Slip on that hachimaki!! (*traditional Japanese headband) And sweep the leg!!! (*traditional non-traditional Japanese movie quote) Rettsu taberu sushi! ! Let's eat sushi!!! "In Okinawa, all Miyagi know two things: fish and karate." In downtown Honolulu, all I know is that: I want sushi and don't-want-to-that-walk-far-'cause-I'm-wearing-high-heels-plus-it'-hot-outside-and-I'm-lazy." For all you ladies and (some) gents who feel the same way, (don't worry boys, I won't judge!) this Aloha Sushi restaurant is your solution! Located on the ground floor lobby of the Topa Financial Center (formerly the Amfac building), I come here to get my sushi fix...a lot. The food is both oishii (delicious) and the prices are fairly reasonable. CURRENT SPECIAL. Spend $6 worth of items (sushi, gyoza, 84 chopsticks, whatevs), and get a free drink. Remember..."man who catch fly with chopstick accomplish anything." *bows* Banzai and you're welcome. P.S. All Japanese translations were provided today by Google. Yes, I googled. Don't judge. I also like to eat sushi with a fork. I am a disgrace to my Japanese ancestors. NO MERCY.

    Miso ramen

Don't go here. Stopped by for a quick bite and got a miso ramen. Possibly the worst ramen I've ever had. It only consisted of noodles, bean sprouts and cabbage. Very bare bones and didn't even taste good. Forced myself to eat it cause I was hungry and didn't have time to get food elsewhere. Maybe their other food is fine but definitely not the ramen. Only eat here if you have no other choice and you are so desperate for food that if you don't eat you'll drop dead. Haha ok that might be a bit much but you get the idea.

    My fave...spicy pork donburi!

This place has been a staple for my family ever since we moved back to O'ahu a few years ago. Bottom line? The soba noodles here are utterly fantastic. They are, in my humble opinion, the best on the island, and some of the best soba noodles I've ever had. I don't think anywhere else in Honolulu comes close. You come here to eat soba. Period. In addition to the soba being phenomenal, the other offerings at i-naba are also similarly great. Their tempura in particular is outstanding. I typically order the Jumbo Shrimp Tempura Bowl & Soba or the Dx Tempura Bowl & Soba. Plus an upgrade to a large size soba! The tempura is sooo good. It's crispy, light, and airy. The jumbo shrimp is especially succulent and tender. And the ingredients are always perfectly seasoned with the sweet and savory house sauce. Yummmy! If you're looking for the best soba and awesome tempura, this is your spot!!!

I finally had lunch here a couple weeks ago and damn was my tempura and soba set broke da mout. The soba is housemade with a chewy consistency that I love. I had it cold with the dipping sauce and wow wow wow. So good. My friends suggested I get the shrimp and vegetable tempura as well which amazingly stayed crispy the whole time I savored each bite. Probably 30 minutes. Light crisp batter on perfectly cooked shrimp and veggies. Damn it was good. The service was great as well and I cannot wait to go back. Nice warm atmosphere and there's a free parking lot. It gets busy during lunch and dinner, so get there early or make a reservation. Enjoy!

Metered street parking or they have a paid private parking lot. As it was Sunday, we found a parking on Koko Head Avenue and walked there. We were seated right away at 2:30pm and they close at 3:30pm. Then dinner is at 5:00pm. Service was fast and friendly. We ordered right away. Food came out shortly after. It looked good and it tasted good too. The purple potato salad with the 2 sweet potato chips was different and really good! After lunch, we decided to order 2 Kirin beers and a bottle of Iichiko with green tea. We drank 1/3 of the bottle and decided to save the rest for the next time. We will be back again.
