This was my first time playing this course, and overall it was just average. The layout is very flat, which makes the round feel a bit uninteresting. With better maintenance and more attention to course conditions, it could be a much better place to play. For a public course, the weekend tournament fee of $90 felt quite expensive for what was offered. The course conditions and overall experience did not really justify the price. No idea about golf or its course in general, but my kid takes group lessons here through the SCGA Juniors programs. Definitely would not recommend for the youngest age group (5-6yos). The kids themselves are crazy, even on Saturday's at 9am. Can't imagine what they're like when they're tired and deregulated on weekday evenings. Most are still just horsing around and not listening to the coaches. When they are, they're also abusing them, by hitting them or throwing things at them. These behaviors should NOT be tolerated anywhere, let alone at a golf range where there are clubs and balls around. The 2 coaches were pretty powerless to control 12 kids as they were too laidback and soft spoken. They are only young men in their 20s themselves so I can understand not knowing how to establish authority yet. NOW the reason for the 4 stars instead of 3. The upper age group lessons appear to be WAY better organized. The kids for one, due to age perhaps, are actually taking instruction and working hard on their skills. The coaches are also a bit older and more experienced. We'll see how it goes when my kid ages up to those lessons to adjust the stars, if any. read more

Go ahead and keep your crappy driving range the way it is since it's the only one in town but for the love of golf step up your hospitality game. I'm sitting here on a Saturday afternoon ready to spend some dough on food, soda and beers for 4 hungry people and the lady is locking up the restaurant at 3pm. People are finishing their rounds meandering around parched and hungry ready to drop coin and this clueless establishment couldn't care less. Definitely a tone deaf management team when it comes to golf culture. Cmon Alondra, do better. Hmm...for a golf facility 2 miles from my house and a place to take my 19 year-old to learn golf, it's awesome! We played 18 holes on the par three last weekend and it was so fun! Yeah, the driving mats are lame and it's in rough shape on the fringes but we had a BLAST! And nobody hassled us when our shots went awry, that's cool. Love the driving range. My favorite is seeing the other hackers out there overswinging and spraying their balls everywhere! I don't feel so bad that I suck. To spend 2.5 hours outside with my kids hitting golf balls on an inner-city golf course - just awesome! And if you are really in a great place mentally, look up - I saw a hawk soaring over the course. And if you want a laugh, the squirrels are very friendly, looking for a snack if you have a few nuts. Par 3 course is very compact and crowded. Course setup is pretty nice and has a variety of 100-190 yard holes. The only issue is waiting in between groups to continue the play. The greens were recently punched leaving some bumpy unpredictable lines, overall the value is there. Not a course to go out of your way for but if you're in the area it's worth a quick play through. read more

Got there early to check in and was advised by the person checking in that they are ONLY allowing 9 holes this morning (due to some tournament or something). How is this ANY way to operate ?? I was told to check with the manager later. OK then refund the $10 booking fee--no you have to call and talk to the manager !! I guess that they are hoping that I will forget and not call and they have made $10, however that's just me. How many others will not or forget to call ?? Very very poor customer service !! For the price the course is dog shit. Range is not open 50% of the time. Takes like 6 hrs to finish a round and Snack bar is hardly open. The rate at which Alondra has raised their rates is borderline robbery. A large bucket of 105 balls costs $18!!! Although they were recently acquired by American Golf which all other courses by them participate in a "Players Club" membership, Alondra's response is to ignore the fact that they say coming soon on their website because "we get enough traffic that we don't need to give people deals to come more often." (seriously was said to me) Not sure if the poor saps that go there for the range understand that if they go 15 times a month, they're spending $270!!! The discount key cards are humorous as well. The next closest golf course is Chester Washington which is also American Golf and DOES have a Players Club. BUT, if you're west of Alondra that's a rough drive. I found a golf simulator place literally on the same street of Alondra and did the math, if I go 9 times a month (which is WAY less than I go) then it easily pays for itself and is saving me hundreds of dollars. I wish Alondra would care a bit more about their patrons, or at the very least if you're going to GOUGE your players can you at least provide balls that don't look like they're 10 years old on the range???? read more

I hadn't played golf in a very long time, mostly because it's time-consuming and it's not easy to be good at it. A friend of mine who golfs a lot said Alonda par 3 is a pretty forgiving course. I went there on a Friday afternoon without a reservation. Bad idea. Be sure you call ahead and make a tee time. The people who work there are friendly and professional. We got super lucky because some people didn't show up and we were able to use their tee time. It was a reasonably priced $13 to play the 18 hole, par 3 course. Not bad. The course itself is really tight. They do a great job with the space they have but a few of the holes are a little wonky. You can easily walk right in front of people teeing off on a couple of the holes so check the course map closely and keep your eyes open. I got hit in the foot by an errant ball from another hole and three other shanked shots from other holes fell within one foot of me while I was playing. Believe me, when someone yells "four" be sure to duck and cover if you can! The greens are kinda' rough and bumpy, but they get a lot of use. Some of the rough is really long grass and it's very difficult finding your ball in it. The tees all have pads. The pads are pretty worn out. Still, they do the job and you can get a decent drive off of them. There were lots of people playing but it moved fairly quickly. We played the eighteen-hole course in about two and a half hours. The other people playing there were pretty friendly and most were just enjoying playing a casual par-three course and not taking things too seriously. Be careful about putting snacks in your golf bag. The well season squirrels aren't the least bit shy about coming up to your bag to grab some of your tasty treats! All in all, it was a nice little par three. I'd go back if I ever get the notion to play another round of golf again. read more

Sometimes it can get pretty packed, but I've never waited long to get on a mat.They also have a chipping and putting area here. Service: never had an issue. Always friendly. My dad has been coming here for years and hasn't had a problem til now. The range closes at 9, last bucket is at 8 pm, lots of people on the range still hitting balls, some arriving just before us. We got here at 7:45 and the shop was already locked up. The lights were on and there was a cashier guy in there already closing up the register. We kept looking at him and knocking on the door, but the guy saw us and kept ignoring us. This review is for the driving range from a beginner's perspective. All around good experience. Not a high end facility, but if you're a beginner, that makes it less intimidating. Architecture and ambiance | The club house and pro shop have that 80's community college feel. Given that it's LA County Parks facility, that's highly appropriate. Driving range | Go to the window once you get inside to buy tokens for about $6 each. The range has quite a few spaces and there's always been an open bay out of the 5 times I've been. There are a good amount of beginners there learning so not intimidating at all. If you're more comfortable hitting off of a rubber tee, you need to bring your own, which they sell at the pro shop. Parking and access | Large free parking lot right in front. It's a huge golf course, so you can't miss it. Service | The staff have always been happy and very nice every time I visit. Definitely in a better mood than I was. I don't know why other reviewers have mentioned poor service. I never see it. read more

Considering this is a Municipal course and owned by the county, Alondra gets the job done IMHO. The par 5 course is generally flat, links, and in passable conditions. Pace can be a bit slow depending on the day and time. Wind is super heavy against you on 9 & 18. Bucket of practice balls comes in one size and is priced reasonably at $13 for two coins (about 100 balls) or $6 for one coin. Parking lot is huge and always able to find a spot. Also, they take credit cards now! Par 3, 18 holes is nothing special but will satisfy your itch to play. The greens are usually fast but vary in quality from hole to hole--some are bumpy and don't play true. Lots of amateurs so be alert when they call "four" as the holes are very close to each other. Tip: Call or reserve online for tee times. Walking up can be risky. BEWARE squirrels can rip a hole in your bag if you leave food inside! read more

They no longer take tee time reservations for a single player! They make you go to the course and wait for an opening. I've been there 3 times in the last month and waited over 2.5 hours(to play and give them my money) and was not able to play... absolutely ridiculous new policy. And there is no customer service number to leave feedback with the course. Poorly run organization and HUGE disappointment for a long term resident of the area. Makes absolutely ZERO sense, and no exceptions will be made. The starter said this is the GM's new policy... obviously failed at customer service... what a joke... This is based only on the driving range, which I visited on Sunday. Plenty of bays available, decent range to hit some balls. Purchase your locker code in the shop, head to the range to pick up a basket and enter your code to get your balls. 35 for $8, 75 (?) for $15 or 105 for $18. Great par 3 with 18 holes. The only thing was that it was confusing to try to find some of the holes if you don't have a map. It can get real confusing without one. It was a bit muddy but a perfect beginner par 3 where it was relatively flat throughout and not quite so intimidating with distance. read more

Driving range review only. This place has a good amount of parking and well lit and price is reasonable. There are a ton of stalls and not really any wait times, not there is at any other place. I've been playing Alondra my entire life and with the new ownership in place I think the course is in the best condition ever and only going to get better. Both the regulation and par 3 course are super fun to play for very reasonable prices. The quality has improved immensely with the new ownership and I can't wait to see how good this course gets over the next couple years. Nice driving range, nice putting greens, and very nice chipping green keeps me coming back to this course every weekend. If I had to critique one thing it would be the restrooms. The ownership needs to pumps some money into the bathrooms to make them cleaner. read more

Only giving 3 stars because of the staff. They were polite professional and respectful. Would give more but disgusted by the clientele. beware for some of the customers. My friend and I (6 deployments and over 40 years in the Military) got cussed out and belittled by a man and his wife. We went to enjoy Memorial Day weekend playing a round of golf and got insulted by an Asian man and his wife because we were playing too 'slow'. Even though we were letting others play in front of us as we were cognizant of our abilities. When we mentioned 'memorial day weekend' his reply was 'what is that and who cares?'
