Really like this place. I had a gel manicure from V (station 1 - there are two "V's" at this salon). She takes her time, is very steady and thorough, and is really professional and nice. Also, their gel sample colors are often combos of two colors. The colors have a lot of depth because of this, and I've found a ton more shades to try that I don't see at other salons. Went in to get gel and it was pretty bad the lady there pretty much filed my whole gel down and the scraped them saying that my last gel was bad and couldn't get it off, this has never happened to me at the last place I went to get them done... she hurt me when filing and my skin go all scraped so now I even wash my hands and stains I'm gonna have to wait forever for my whole nail to grow again, when I saw what she was doing I just told her to do regular polish I new they where already messed up and was gonna make them worst if I put more gel so yeah avoid this place if you love your hands. There is one girl there, very sweet so I stayed to get pedicure as well. Nails were ok although she nicked me, but the man that works there would NOT shut up. It was AWFUL and NOT relaxing at all. This older very bossy "b*tchy" lady came in from talking on her phone out back in her car and was ANNOYED to have to work. I have NORMAL nails, actually thin nails and she used the dog clippers on me which I have NEVER had used on me anywhere before. SHE ALMOST CHOPPED OFF MY ENTIRE SECOND TOENAIL annoyed at having to work and also because the guy that works there was yapping like a tweaker. I have been to nail salons all over LA and OC, and this place has HORRID sterilizing practices, picking clippers from various bins, did not even know if was clean on who used on before - no class at all. I actually feel bad because it must be Vicky who is the sweet girl that works in the back, but the OLD LADY and the TWEAKER dude made this the most ghetto place I have ever been to. I have never felt such rude behavior in even the most hood deep nailshops in LA. NO CLASS, NO STERILIZING PRACTICES, NEVER AGAIN, tell everybody I work with around here that it looks nice and clean when you walk in, but they are careless and disgusting. and I paid for extra services that were sloppy and a rip-off - save yourself and find a great salon on yelp - maybe they have bad days but stay away from the tweaker dude and the old PRETENTIOUS lady... they are rude and ruin the entire experience making this a #1 rip-off! read more

In the 10 years I have been getting acrylic nails this is by FAR the worst set I have EVER had! I decided to try Alpha because it is right next to my gym - convenience is NOT worth having HORRIBLE nails! I thought I was getting a pink and white but instead I ended up with disgusting yellow tinted tips from what I'm told is from using old product. Also, every nail is different thicknesses in different spots. To top it off, I had the gel coat done to keep them shiny but what I ended up with was a bubbly MESS that when they tried to fix just got worse!! Came here because it was close... made sure to ask about what type of Gel Brand they use and they use the good stuff - gelish - had Vicki for my Pedicure and Gel Nail Manicure! She spoke perfect english and was super friendly! She suggested I changed my original nail gel color bc the color was runny and wouldn't last or look good! I came in her a few years ago and they globed on the nail polish he wouldn't dry. I was so annoyed. I was close by and thought i'd give them another chance. This time got a gel manicure. The colors I was not impressed with. My toes were down way before my nails and yet they still got all messed up and wouldn't dry. The gel is okay but the lady cut the heck out of my cuticles that i was bleeding! I won't be going back. $55 dollars later I'm definitely not recommending this place. I live right around the corner so when I first came here a few months ago, it was mainly for convenience and because it was last minute. I have now gotten at least one full set, three fills and one pedicure. Mostly Nina has been doing nails, but a few other ladies have jumped in when she was busy and I came in last minute. Because of my schedule I can't make appointments, but they always fit me in and I don't think I have had to wait more than 15 mins. They have always done a great job, so I am not sure why the bad reviews and they are all very nice. read more

The girl did fix my nails and make them a lot thinner than the original person did. However, she charged me more than I was quoted and one of my nails fell off in less than a week. Went to get my nails done here spur of the moment since it's close to my sons daycare. I was expecting something nicer, but once I stepped in I was disappointed. I figured for what the place looked like inside that perhaps the rates would be decent - but they were actually just as much as my other nail place that has running AC and provides refreshments. Shop was not updated (chairs were rickety, massage actually hurt so had to turn function off, no AC, no fans to compensate). The pedicure was below par with minimal scrubbing action. Then when I went to pay, they charged me a dollar for using my credit card- wouldn't have minded much but as I walked out their service menu stated that it was waived for first time customers! Didn't really want to say anything at that point bc I just wanted to leave. Not coming here again. I was the only customer there along with another and they didn't even bother to say goodbye. Lol makes me laugh to think that this is how they expect to have customers come back. read more

I live across the street from this salon and don't believe I will ever go back. I shouldn't say never but it would only be if this was the only place I would be able to get too. There are a couple of people I came in contact and felt they was nice an professional, but it only take one to make a bad impression. I got a facial and pedicure and was satisfied but the technician worked on my nails by the name of Helen, I do not recommend her to work on my pet. She was very rude and acted like she was so superior and did not care if I came back or not, very poor customer service skills. I have been going to Alpha Nails for nearly 3 years now and am very happy. I have purchased a variety of services there. Three years ago I was getting a full set of acrylic nails and fills and now I get gel manicures, pedicures, and waxing. All of the women who work here do a great job and since my schedule is so crazy I almost always do a walk-in with no appointment. As several people have mentioned, Jennie is great! They do have the sanitized wrappers and the shop is clean and newly redecorated. The prices are reasonable. The weekends are pretty busy, so I do recommend coming during the week in the afternoons if you have that kind of flexibility. Overall, two thumbs up for Alpha Nails. read more
