All of my experiences at Alpha Omega are top notch and my visit last week elevated my previous visits! We sat down with Rick Patton, who is a fount of knowledge of not only the wines but of the history of the valley. We went through all of their 2016 reds, which were stunning, as well as a couple of readily available 2014 cabs and red blends. Their 2014 reds are juicy and sleek, so we bought some! We first visited Alpha Omega February 2016 because a friend in the wine distribution industry recommended we paid them a visit along with a handful of other nearby vineyards. The place can be easy to miss unless you're looking for it, but once you've found them, you'll always find your way back ... I promise. Let's start with the service: stellar. Yes, as many times as we've been back, we usually leave it up to them who will be taking care of us, and it never matters who, the service is always impeccable and you'll learn not only who and what Alpha Omega is, but why the folks that represent it are passionate about the wine and the label. The wine: it is a staple at our home. We're fans of their Chardonnay that drinks like a red and their Cabs. Truly, all their reds are exceptional ... and if you're lucky to get a tasting of their single vineyard production, you'll probably get tempted into splurging in a pack just in time for a pick up (and free tasting) for the holidays. This is a great place to start your day, or the next place right after a lunch break. They do not have food except for the crackers they can provide. Highly recommend. The experience felt more like buying a car than tasting wine. The tasting took a backseat to their constant sales pitches for high-priced bottles of wine and a wine club membership. After buying said bottles of expensive wine, I was reminded to leave a tip separately since "I don't get paid on commission". Wish I had read the reviews here before making this stop! We were just driving around looking for someplace open after 5PM, saw Alpha Omega, and stopped. Had I done planning and read the reviews, I would have know this was not our type of place! We did not taste.... When you pull up, they meet you to valet your car - great! Then you walk up to a Hostess stand - like in a restaurant - to put your name on a list. Okay, nice and organized. Wait will be a minimum of 20 minutes - okay it is a Saturday of a holiday weekend. Let's take a look at the tasting options while we wait "We have 3 tasting menu options. the first is $50 per person, the second is $75 and the 3rd is $100" Wait what - the lowest option is $50? We moved on. Maybe the wine is worth it? It better be VERY good for that price. read more

Byfar one of the best wine tasting experiences in Napa! Needless to say, our group had an amazing time tasting wine at Alpha Omega Winery. A couple of our friends are wine club members and invited us to join them for a tasting at the winery's private cabanas. They've seen other members bring lunch to the winery in the past and followed suit this time with food from Ad hoc + Addendum. Matthew Nicoson (resident AO wine expert) was exceptional and assisted us today. He immediate choose wines / vintages to pair with our food for a unique sommelier experience. We learned a great deal about the winery, its amazing wines and Napa Valley terriors after tasting through many of their signature wines. From our first visit to Alpha Omega in 2006 to my most recent this past Monday, each experience has been incredible. Albino Lopez helped my OneHope group on Monday, so gracious in sharing all that makes AO incredible. We were lucky to be treated to an impromptu tour of the barrel room and also introduced to two AMAZING Perinet vintages during our relaxed yet informative tasting. As my five friends went to enjoy the view, I ordered some reds and a six of the rose and was able to enjoy two barrel samples. Wish I had written down which reds they were to place a futures order! Al was fantastic, great host to AO and very helpful. Super charming as well! As an aside, 48 hours later I decided to add to my order of 9 bottles and was lucky that Andrew took pity on me! Andrew was able to weave some magic with shipping fulfillment and add three more bottles to my order. Andrew, thank you. Look forward to seeing Al again on my next visit (all the way from the East Coast so be patient!) and to meet Andrew as well. My wife, family and friends(group of 8) showed up around 3:30 to taste with no reservations. Realizing we'll have to wait we asked to buy a glass. They said no. They don't sell by the glass. I asked to buy a bottle they said no we have to be a wine member. So went in and said we wanted 3 $100 bottles and they said no! We had to wait 5 or more minutes to be acknowledged. Kicker. It wasn't busy. Will never go back. This is the new Napa. read more

The setting was gorgeous, but the experience was much less personal here than at other wineries. I enjoyed our expert, who was new on the job so he wasn't really an expert at all but he tried hard to help with questions and seemed to learn quick. I basically got all 4 glasses of my $75 tasting At once and a brief description of what it was then we were left alone. I couldn't remember anything he had said about any of the wines I was drinking and he didn't offer to sell us any after the tasting. I actually gave the third star for the amazing red dragon flies on the property, never in my life had I seen more unique or gorgeous dragon flies! read more

I don't think I would have ever done a tasting here given their prices, but my bestie belongs to an organization that granted us complimentary tastings. SOLD! The setting was lovely. We sat right at the edge of their fountain and had a beautiful view. It doesn't really get much more blissful than a sunny day, delicious wine, and great company. It's a far superior experience to be crowded at a tasting bar trying to wave someone down for the next pour. Our server at Alpha Omega was up to their high standards. I didn't take home anyone only because I was feeling a little light in the wallet. My friend brought home a $65 chardonnay which was excellent. Creamy, tropical and meant to be served only slightly chilled to enjoy all those flavors. read more

I have never had as bad an experience as I had at this place last week...and it only took all of about 5 minutes. There is a big difference between upscale and elitest, with the latter being the lease desirable trait an organization would want to be termed, and this place truly made me and the group we were with feel like trash... We got there in the early afternoon, excited to see what this winery was about, because a good friend of ours we were with highly recommended their wines. Upon arriving there, there were three families in our group and we approached the hostesses about a tasting. There were 6 adults and 4 children with us. There were a few couples before us, and the hostesses seemed more than accomodating to them, but when it was our turn, they said didn't have space for a group the size of ours (they said that children counted as a part of the group and that a group our size was not manageable...?!?!). So we told them that we would be willing to breakup into separate families to make it easier to accomodate. Then came their excuse about being short of assiged ambassadors or some ridiculous farce of an excuse, and that they would not accomodate us as separate groups either...not COULD not...WOULD NOT. We were all shocked...kind of looked at each other dumbfounded. Her suggestion: Why don't you try coming back another day...seriously? My suggestion (to myself): Why don't we just leave and let everyone know how "great" they treated us. I would NEVER go back there after being treated that way... read more

We had the best tasting experience we've ever had at Alpha Omega Winery! We booked their private tasting with a wine educator. Someone from their team reached out to learn more about our tastes and preferences which was really nice. When went to Napa there was a fire going in Sonoma that was causing lot of tasting rooms to cancel tastings and only offer bottle service. Alpha Omega kept our appointment since we were celebrating our anniversary which we really appreciated. Our wine educator, Ian Stout, was incredible. Super knowledgable and incredibly personable. He really knew his stuff and taught us a lot about the wine, grapes, and the valley. His insights and authenticy were unmatched in anything we've experienced at any wine tasting, in any city, ever. Grateful to him for giving us such a great experience and to Alpha Omega for making great wine and going above and beyond with their customer service. I had the opportunity to spend an incredible Saturday at Alpha Omega this past weekend which was made so much more wonderful by the hospitality shown to us by the exceedingly knowledgeable staff at this winery. Neatly tucked away just off the 29, the winery, surrounding estate, and the Mayacamas to the west were the source of such a lovely atmosphere that was further enhanced by the exceptional service shown to us by our host Jesse. Jesse's knowledge and passion for wine was clearly demonstrated to us as he went into great depth about everything from the way in which a particular micro-climate may affect the flavor of the grapes to how the techniques used by the winemaker during fermentation left us with one impressive taste after another. It cannot be overstated the importance of excellent hospitality for creating a memorable experience, especially considering how many other locations there are to visit in the valley, and Jesse and the rest of the staff at Alpha Omega did not disappoint. I cannot recommend this place enough for that experience alone, and the delicious wine only sweetened the deal! read more

The wine here is a m a z i n g. We had a large party of 6 without a reservation and it was also hot out so we had to stay inside, but the view outside with the fountain is beautiful. I got the impression that this place was a little more upscale then the other wineries we visited. Tastings start at $50-$100 and the most delicious wine I had here was from a $260 bottle. I don't usually indulge in such fancy wines but the change in atmosphere and wine was a great way to end the day. I highly recommend treating yourself to a tasting, a bottle, or maybe two! read more

What a beautiful place! I'd recommend putting thus place on your list. Make a reservation and wear a hat so you can sit outside for a full experience. The wine is expensive, though relative to Napa it's just slightly high. Tasting is $50 for the entry level. We really enjoyed all four wines and they don't rush you all all - a great please to go if you have time to sit and chat and really enjoy. read more

On the recommendation of one of my cousins, the wife and I visited Alpha Omega Winery for a tasting. Even though it was a Sunday afternoon, the place was bustling with business. Pulling up to the winery's tasting room, I got the immediate impression that I was pulling up to fancy restaurant rather than a winery (albeit a high end boutique one) since was valet parking (free) and a hostess stand where we were welcomed, asked if we had an appointment (we didn't), and immediately guided to space at the bar. We opted for the tasting flight of AO's reds ($50), which consisted of a vertical of their cabernet sauvignon (2010, 11, and 12), and also the 2013 release of their Propietary Red blend. The very personable sales/service rep behind the bar gave us an extensive, informative description of each wine and its tasting notes that was helpful without a hint of snootiness. Yes, it was a bit pricey especially when compared with less expensive or, even, free tastings offered at other quality wineries in Napa. That said, their reds were very appealing and we both enjoyed them enough to convince us to buy a couple of bottles. Alpha Omega Winery certainly isn't for everyone. In my mind, we found it worth our time and dime to stop and sip. read more

The Alpha Omega wines are exceptional. I've probably gone to tastings at 400+ wineries over the years, and the lineup at Alpha Omega (Especially the Private Tasting) is probably the most consistently outstanding I've ever enjoyed. Our gracious host (Matthew or Mike) put us all at ease immediately, and treated us more as personal guests than customers. They are very good "wine listeners" and when they know that you are a epicurian and wine lover, they are alway happy to share some hidden wines that will perfectly fit and positively surprise your nose, palate and throat. This isn't the least expensive tasting in the Napa area, but I can't recommend it highly enough if you love great wine and want a tasting experience that you'll remember for years to come. read more

We visited this place a few weekends ago. This place definitely has an elitist, boujee vibe from the get go. All cars are valet parked and unless you have a reservation, you won't be served. You even need a reservation to stand at the bar. For the price, I would say the wine was mediocre. The setting was fantastic. They have water fountains and cushy lounge chairs for you to enjoy. But while we were there, we witnessed this altercation between management and some customers. A white customer who obviously had a few drinks, was not getting along with management. They proceed to take it outside and then management and this white guy end up fighting. Several asian guys and a few white guys went outside to break up the altercation. An older guy from management, proceeded to state patronizing insults towards the asian guys! What! I watched the entire scene unfold. It was a fellow white guy that started the fight, not the asians. But go ahead with your white privilege self and blame it on the asians. Tsk, tsk, tsk. read more

The wine of course was delicious and the patio by the fountain nice and relaxing. We felt like we were there for a private tasting! As we were given a lot of attention as were all the guests there that day. The pricing is more than average but the wines are worth it! Splurge a little!
