3 pick 3 platters (brisket, chicken thighs and pulled pork).

3 pick 3 platters (brisket, chicken thighs and pulled pork). One thing I really dislike about any bbq spot is bathing my food in sauce, the first thing that comes to mind is either your food lacks flavor or it's dry. The flavor was okay, nothing to rave about I think the pulled pork had the most flavor out of all three (seasoning and smoke). Half of the brisket I received was nothing but fat the other 1/4 was burned and at $32 a platter I'd expect to get better portions. On top of that the cold sides are plated with hot food. Probably the worst idea ever. I'll more than likely just wait until u get my smoker before eating bbq again

I was famished and googled barbecue places near Williamsburg and this place surfaced. The food in the pictures looked scrumptious. The restaurant is located at the end of the Food Lion strip mall. Upon arrival, I was not greeted, the young man seemed a bit overwhelmed. I wanted the wings but they were out so I tried the brisket, beans, and macaroni and cheese. The brisket was a healthy portion but lacked flavor and was a little tough. Barbecue sauce was placed on the brisket to go with the flavor. The macaroni and cheese was really bland, it tasted like macaroni with wine cheese sprinkled on it. The beans tasted just like root beer. I couldn't not finish the platter because the food was not good.

Hands down a great BBQ down here. The came out quick and it was great. The service was amazing. It was nice place where you can come have a few drinks and enjoy a meal. Great selection in happy hour.

I love a great BBQ place and this place hit all the marks with yummy food, great service and a great atmosphere inside! It was our first time here and decided to go all out and try a bunch of the different food items they offered. Had plenty of leftovers which was not a bad thing with the yummy quality of food. Food: Complimentary rolls with honey butter! Let's just say you had me at Honey Butter! The rolls were also soft and moist. Meats: sausage, chicken, brisket chicken wings and pulled pork, and to be honest all the meats were good! My top 3 were the chicken, pulled pork and wings. Love all the sauces too! Particularly liked the one that came on the chicken and pulled pork. Sides: Baked beans -good flavor Green beans-nice spice Jalapeño Mac and cheese-so good and not spicy just flavorful Potato salad- also very good! We also started with the chili and gumbo and both were delicious. Gumbo reminded me of gumbo from down in Louisiana! We got a chocolate chip cookie to go and they are homemade and delicious. Our server was extremely friendly and made sure we had refills and answered all of our questions. Inside there isn't too much seating but there is also a bar area with seats. I love the dim lighting instead of bright lighting. Can't wait to go back! .

The service was excellent. We were attended to and the waitress was very kind and nice. The food was good and the portion sizes were reasonable. The potato salad was a bit bland. It was advertised as sour cream and onion but we didn't get those flavors. The meats were good. The Mac n cheese was very good but the shredded cheese on top was unnecessary and should have been breadcrumbs. Also I wish there was cornbread on the menu. The coleslaw was really good and I don't normally like coleslaw. We bought cookies to go and are looking forward to trying them. We had a good experience and would come back again.

So on the peninsula is there any barbecue place the is better? No. No there isn't. Full disclosure I am a barbecue snob, I grew up in the Midwest with lost of great barbecue and have made and eaten lots of great barbecue. It's not a fair review to compare barbecue places in this area with places in my memories. So I have to change my review. The addition of the stars is based on the following. 1. There is nothing they did wrong and everything they did they is well seasoned and presented in a clean nice place with nice people working. 2. My wife and I have been back here multiple times and have not gone to any other barbecue place in the area. 3. The menu always seems to have items that both sound interesting, taste delicious, and aren't found on other barbecue menus. 4. They stay in their lane and keep reimagining dishes related to barbecue without trying to make the menu be everything to everyone.

I started with the buffalo chicken mozzarella sticks, but they weren't for me so I sent them back. I ended up getting the blackened chicken flatbread, which was actually really good and full of flavor. A few others in my group had mixed experiences too--my cousin ordered the crispy Brussels sprouts and didn't like them, and my daughter tried the crab cake appetizer. She said the flavor was great, but the texture was too mushy inside. My sister, on the other hand, enjoyed her shrimp appetizer and said the mac and cheese egg rolls were just okay. One thing we all agreed on--the drinks were AMAZING. Definitely strong and well-made, they did not disappoint at all. The overall vibe of the restaurant is nice, especially being in the Oyster Point area. It's a great spot to hang out on a Saturday night. Not sure if I'd rush back, but it was a decent experience.

We started with drinks and ordered a mimosa flight (around $36) with four different flavors--mango, passion fruit, and a couple lemon-based ones. My friend also got a lavender mimosa. Individual mimosas were about $12 each, which is a little pricey but pretty typical for brunch. For food, we tried several items. The shrimp and grits were good, but not the best I've had. The bell peppers were cut pretty large, which I didn't love, but overall it was good. We also ordered the Biscoff pancakes. The flavor was fine, but the texture was not it. They looked thin but were actually really dense and thick. We prefer lighter, fluffier pancakes, so these were a miss. Honestly, you kind of needed something like milk to get through them because they were that heavy. The Nana's Chicken plate was good, solid, no complaints. It was almost like a sampler platter which I enjoyed. The turkey sausage was also good. The deviled eggs, though, were very underwhelming. They honestly just tasted like plain eggs nothing special. The highlight of the meal was definitely the short rib bruschetta. It was delicious and easily the best thing we had. My only note would be that there were a lot of tomatoes I would've preferred a little less, but overall it was really, really good. Service was fine. Our waitress was nice, but nothing stood out, it was standard service. The atmosphere was also nice. We sat at a high-top table; the space looks a little small, but there's actually enough room to move around. It wasn't too loud or too quiet and the food presentation was nice as well. One thing to note is that the menu seems to change. My friends had been here about seven months ago and said the previous menu was amazing, everything they had before was delicious. This time around, though, it just wasn't giving the same experience. If this had been their first visit, they probably wouldn't have come back. Overall, I'd say Sate was just okay this time around. A decent brunch though. I'd probably wait until they update their menu and maybe give it another try, since it seems like they've done better in the past.

This has been high on my "want to try" for a long time and finally saw an opportunity with an available reservation, went for it and am so happy I did. I dined solo, which I rarely do, but this was the perfect place for it. It was apparent that most people dining were regulars. The owner was chatting with just about everyone and diners were popping over to other tables to say hello, as well. Felt like a very small town. Service was perfect - not overbearing, but perfectly timed for a good flow throughout dinner. Their menu changes often, so some of the items I loved, may not be available - but it does seem like their fried oysters are a mainstay and holy moly, they were delicious. I had one cocktail - I believe it was called Watermelon Sugar. It had vodka, aperol and fresh watermelon. Refreshing and smooth. I tried two apps: the fried oysters and the bao buns. Both were fantastic. Perfectly prepared, so much flavor. I think that next time, I would stick to the appetizer section and try many rather than getting an entree. I got the scallops, which were delicious, but the apps wow-ed me more. Prices aren't low, but you get what you pay for - really high quality dishes with lots of thought and execution embedded. I don't say this lightly - this has been added to my top 10 list in all of Hampton Roads!

If they had they would have heard about missing beer menus, dirty/greasy salt grinders, dead flies littering the window sills next to the tables, slow and disinterested service and a seeming lack of interest of the staff in anything but chatting with each other. County Grill in Yorktown has always been one of our go-to restaurants but unfortunately is fell very short today. We got in early, before the afternoon rush, around 3:45 pm. We were seated quickly in a booth along the front windows and our waitress came over and got us started with cornbread muffins and took our drink order. I did ask for the paper beer list that they always have due to their extensive taps but none were available, a first for me. Neither our waitress or the hostess could explain why they didn't have the normal beer list. I ordered a beer and when asked if I also wanted water like my wife, I said yes. My wife's water showed up almost immediately, mine must have been forgotten but thankfully my beer showed up a short time later. We ordered our dinner, a brisket platter with coleslaw and baked beans and my wife ordered pulled pork. We were one of only two tables in the entire main dining room when we ordered and throughout our meal but waited a surprisingly long time for our food to arrive. When it did arrive, the food looked, smelled and tasted great. The brisket I received was from the tail end of the brisket and was very thin compared to slices from the other end of the brisket I've usually received. I still received the same exact number of smaller slices I usually receive from the bigger end. Not all brisket slices are created equal and today's fell short. My wife used the salt grinder on the table and it was dirty and greasy to the point she had to excuse herself to go wash her hands. While she was gone I noticed the collection of dead flies on the window sill along our booth. Things were just dirty, makes you wonder about cleanliness in areas you can't see as a customer. Although there were a lot of staff in the kitchen and in front of the kitchen none seemed interested in anything but chatting with each other. The exception to that would be our waitress who was very interested in talking to the one other occupied table in the dining room. We had finished dinner and were waiting to pay our bill and get a to-go box for some of the coleslaw. Our waitress was deeply involved in a conversation with the other table and we waited an extended period of time. The multitude of other servers in front of the kitchen had no interest in breaking free to see if we needed anything. Finally our waitress made it back over to our table with the electronic payment machine out, handed it off to me and headed off to find a to-go container, even that seemed to take longer than it should have. Maybe Q-Daddy's is worth a try, maybe they still care and want to prove they want your business and not just ride on prior reputation.
