This is the only remaining Laundromat in District 1. Its been serving the downtown community for years but it is falling apart. It was next to a methadone clinic that has now closed. Most of the patrons live in the projects nearby. The people are cool despite their economic struggles they offer help when asked and have a wealth of information about the neighborhood. Its too bad that the machines are so old and that the place is falling apart with leaks and roaches and right in front of 1 police plaza you would assume they would have good business due to the proximity to NYPD headquarters. read more

While traveling I had an accident and needed cleaning services on a quick and complete basis. They were able to dry clean my clothes on a priority basis with no problem. It is nice to know that a stranger in town can get service I would expect only from my usual cleaner from home. read more

This review is strictly for their cleaners, not the laundry. By Manhattan standards, their prices are more than reasonable. They pick up, they deliver. I dropped off a suit midday and was able to retrieve it in the evening. They did a wonderful job as my dry cleaners in Sacto gave my suit a funky-ass smell, and they were able to remove it. I wish Alpine was on the other coast but alas, I know where I'm taking my dry cleaning when I visit family. Don't worry that it's located in the pj's, this is what the faux Manhattanites call "Twin Bridges." My only question: how exactly are they able to dry clean organically? read more

DO NOT drop off your clothes here for per-pound cleaning. Everything they washed for me SHRUNK. And that's quite a feat considering some of the shirts in the batch were at least 10 years old. I literally don't understand how it's possible to significantly shrink non-new, previously-washed, cotton clothes, but they manage it. Learn from my poor, shrunken wardrobe and avoid this place's per-pound laundry service! read more

Never had a problem really, prices are good as well. I don't know how they clean organically and I wish there was info about it on a website or something since that would be awesome. I've only had to call a couple times to change my credit card on the account and they haven't messed anything up. The cleaning is always fast and they pickup/deliver from my building. I can't complain, though there isn't anything crazy outstanding (kind of hard in this business especially since I've never been to the store before). read more

Avoid! Charged me double!!! Dropped off two shirts and a suit, asked the guy if I should pay now or later and he says "either is ok" so I paid at drop off. Come to pick up on Monday, and they won't give me my clothes unless I paid AGAIN because they didn't have record. So, it's my fault they have shit records. Don't go there. read more

I love this place. The doormen where I live (Financial District) recommended it to me as a wash & fold alternative to the valet service in my own building. You simply call to set up a pick-up, give them your credit card number, tell them what service you are requesting, then they bring you a bright green bag with your information printed on it. In addition to wash and fold, they also do dry cleaning for clothes and linens. I have had no problems with their service (and I have been using them for approximately 5 months). It's completely reasonably priced. I think I pay $1 per pound for 8lbs. The dry cleaning is also reasonable for the neighborhood. After you make the initial phone call, you just leave the laundry bags in the lobby of your building, then they clean and return it to you. There's usually a one day turnaround, which is fantastic. In my old building, I used New Fresh Cleaners' delivery service and spent almost twice as much. Their service was so much worse - they never delivered on time, always problems with the credit card, etc. Alpine works so well for me because if I ever need to call them, the woman who answers the phone is extremely responsive and always helps me solve the issue. I would recommend Alpine Cleaners to anyone in the Financial District who lives in a doorman building looking for a reasonably-priced wash & fold and dry cleaning service. Not sure how they are for non-doormen buildings, but based on my experience, I'm sure they would be great. read more

Everyone in our small walk-up building has been using this cleaners for their delivery service for a while. We had used them for over a year running into multiple issues before deciding to try and find a new delivery service. Our first issue came when we sent a load of laundry for wash and fold and nearly half of it was dry cleaned unnecessarily and without our consent. This led to a grossly expensive laundry bill which was infuriating. We now ensure to leave a note specifying wash and fold only. Recently, we've noticed that something has changed and each load of laundry we've sent in has shrunk. They have been managing to consistently shrink items that have already been shrunk to the point that we've had several articles of clothing completely ruined. This is entirely unacceptable and we will no longer be using this service. read more

First time trying them=massive fail. Why bother having an online laundry pick-up and delivery system if you completely fail to use it? My first attempt at using them was yesterday. I went to the handy website and asked for a same day pick up, brought my laundry downstairs, and went to run my errands. Hoping that my laundry had been picked up, I only worried about it this afternoon. I called to see if a) it had been picked up and b) if I could arrange credit card payment. The guy barely spoke English and could not figure out if my laundry had or had not been picked up, couldn't get my number right, and couldn't get my name right after 5 attempts to spell it for him. After that I figured I should assume they didn't do shit. I came home, asked my doorman if there was laundry, looked in the bag and saw that it was all dirty laundry. I'm sorry, but how hard is it to do your job right? After failing so miserably that I'm embarrassed for them, they will never get my business and I don't recommend sending business their way. You get what you deserve. You want new customers, do your job. You want repeat customers, you do your job. It's a simple concept. You want respect, you earn it. This place shouldn't even stay in business read more

Wash and fold is affordable. I tell them how I want my laundry done: with what temperature water and the detergent/fabric softener I bring in. read more

Sorry to see so many bad reviews. I live in the Seaport and have been using Alpine for 7 years. I don't equate them to the best upper east side establishments, but they have always been helpful and accomodating. I am regular customer for last one year.i have been using their service like dry cleaning and laundry. All my clothes were messed up and lost,and moreover the laundry machine are all old and you know it damaged my clothes. I advice to all the fellow friend never use this cleaners. they are not offering good services and worth paying my dear friends. I did drop off there, it was the worst experience, the Korean woman that runs the shop was very rude. This was my first time going there, since it was $1/lb for drop off.. I thought it was going to be the best drop off ever.. I WAS WRONG -- THE Clothes smelled horrible when I started wearing my clothes. After the 1st time, I complained to the Korean lady, she said she it will not happen again..and she claimed she DID IT HERSELF, SHE LIED, she has a Spanish/Mexican worker doing all the laundry for drop off. I went back to give them 2nd chance again, dropped it off, and when I went home, SAME THING. Clothes smelled. and wasted my time and money. I had to drop it off at another spot. I've been coming here for 10+ years. Overall it's been a fine experience. The dryers are sometimes inconsistently hot and I've lost more than a fair share of quarters on questionably working washing machines, but the prices for laundry service are fair,and I tolerate the minor problems for the sake of proximity and convenience. However I'm reconsidering my perspective on this place because for awhile now I've "urged" out of the store by the weekend clerk. I try to be mindful of his weekend work day and the cut off time for the last wash but sometimes the drying time is slower than expected or I just miss the mark by 5 minutes. I don't appreciate being reprimanded like an insolent child. This has also happened when I've come early enough to be done well before closing as a sort of preemptions scolding. I'm still a paying customer. I don't expect to be allowed to come and go whenever I want just becuase I'm a long standing customer but I would like to know that there is a mutual understanding of respect. I will do my best to be here well in advance to prevent any ill will but today I'm not feeling like this is my usual friendly neighborhood laundromat. read more
