Watched an episode of "Triple D" featuring the "Turducken" So I made it a point to try it when I was in town. To be honest it looked much better and juicier on TV than in real life. Don't get me wrong, it was good, but that's about it. The flavors were a little on the bland side for me. In addition the food came out warm, which gave me the impression it was quickly reheated. The mash potatoes were ordinary as well. On the other hand, my buddy had the butchers cut pork chop and it was delicious! Moist and juicy! His baked potato came out hot. The garlic bread was delicious though, a generous amount of butter and garlic slathered on made for a delicious bite. The server and hostess were very friendly and sweet, but our waiter was slow and forgot to get some non buttered rye bread for us. The hostess actually came around more than the waiter. When I got home and took everything out, I was surprised to see the ribs were $35.00. I had a salad and poppers as an appetizer. The salad was fresh and crisp. The Poppers where average and looked like they might have been a frozen product For the main I had the rib eye with bone in , very rare. It came that way and was tasty. But was thinner than I would have expected for $28, or it may have been $38 I;m not sure. Their advertisment said all steaks are cross charred , Mine had cross depressions but they appeared pressed and where not charred. Going into this place is like a throwback to the 70's or something with the red and black decor. It actually grows on you and the booths are comfy. It's part meat/food market on the left and seating on the right with a small bar in the back. It's very casual so don't worry about getting all fancy to come to this place. The service was good and attentive - nothing over the top. Burger was delicious and the meat was just so fresh! Loved the onion rings as well. We expected AWESOME steaks but our first contact with the waitress who works the bar was unacceptable. The bread was ice cold in it's center and when I requested it be warmed she took it and we, literally, had to ask a different waiter (15 minutes later) to bring it back. She did not deliver our VERY expensive steaks ,which were mediocre, at best. Another waitress brought them out. My prime rib was merely tepid and I had to SAW through it. My folks were Midwest grain farmers and had a cow butchered every year - I know great steak....this was not. The only hot thing from my order was the baked potato, which was really good, but....who cares, right? I care. I care about every component of the meals we eat, whether out or at home. Peter's shell steak was incredibly tough. His asparagus was pithy and tepid. The stuffed mushroom appetizer was not warmed all the way through. The entire meal was not to the standard of the prices charged. The waitress was completely inept and rude. Unfortunately she returned and said she was "sorry we didn't have a good experience ", THEN she went on to over talk me and, actually, argue with an unhappy customer...AMAZING at the rudeness some folks feel is their 'right' and completely acceptable. This woman should not be in the service industry. Period. I told her, finally, that if she worked for me I would fire her immediately. I don't know if I can, truthfully, recommend this restaurant. We decided to go last night to the Alpine Steakhouse in Sarasota in celebration of my husband's birthday. Based on their advertising, we understood that all of their beef was Prime and our server also told us before ordering all the meat was Prime. I ordered their bone-in strip steak and hubby ordered the Delmonico both medium rare. When our meals arrived both steaks were very overcooked and our server graciously returned them to the kitchen to have another order made. This time my steak was utterly raw and had to be set back again for further cooking, but hubby's was cooked perfectly but his rib eye was substituted with a strip steak. In the past when ordering a prime-cut steak it would always be favorable, tender and easy to cut, both steaks were tough and very chewy. It was very obvious that our server, who was wonderful, knew we were extremely disappointed with our meals. Our bill was $150.00 which included two $6.00 glasses of wine and two $6.00 salads plus steaks costing nearly $60.00 each. To be honest, the steaks at Texas Roadhouse were far more superior than those we were served. One other thing, there house salad had large pieces of tomato, pepper and onion and there knives were so dull it was a challenge to cut them into smaller bite size pieces however the rolls were warm and flavorful. The New York Times requires three visits to a restaurant before they write a negative review for a restaurant. I now have four negative experiences at the Alpine Steakhouse. And realize that this is my experience only. Experience #1. Many months back I ordered a Caesar's salad. They have an option for a Caesar's salad with a chicken cutlet. So I ordered the salad to eat in, and the chicken cutlet to go (for my dog). There are two different prices: one for inclusion with the salad (less money) and one as a stand-alone order. The owner specifically told our waitress to charge the higher price for the chicken cutlet to go. Experience #2. I traditionally order the Hungarian goulash over egg noodles, as presented on the menu. When my order arrived, it had German potato noodles. I don't like German potato noodles! I hate German potato noodles. And if I had wanted German potato noodles, I would have ordered them! When I informed the waitress that a mistake had been made and the Goulash was not situated over German potato noodles, she informed me that they had run out of egg noodles. Experience #3. I ordered a Krombacker pilsner beer, which I had been ordering at the Alpine Steakhouse for over a year and typically came in a 0.5 liter rastal. However, this time when the beer arrived it was in a 0.3 liter pokal. When I questioned the waitress on the glass size she said the owner had informed her that the Krombacker cost too much to serve in the larger glass (then charge more). My meal came, Hungarian goulash and obviously they were running out of noodles again because my portion looked like a child's portion, with TWO pieces of meat. Experience #4. This evening, March 6, 2018, I returned to Alpine Steak House because my partner gets a specific meal that she enjoys. To be fair, the reviews above were written over a year ago and never posted. The meal I ordered tonight was the Filet Mignon with Goulash. The meat was completely indigestible and riddled with grizzle. When I showed the server the meat she brought out some filet and apologized and when I complained to the owner and I explained to him that I was also in the meat business years ago, his response was -- I'm sorry. His response should have been -- what can I do to make it right -- how do I fix it. My dog, Buddy, who was in the car, always gets a treat from my dinner...this meat was not worthy of my dog. If I wanted meat of this quality, I would have gone to a street vendor in New York and gotten horse meat. So, as a resident of Sarasota, I do not wish to trash local restaurants, I wish to support them. I wish the Alpine Steakhouse the best of luck moving forward, though I for one will not be returning.... read more

Grandma was craving filet mignon so local friend recommended Alpine Steakhouse. Having flown down from CT to the most perfect weather we wanted to dine outside. While the traffic noise was rather loud, the tables were pleasant and the service by Chloe was fantastic. We enjoyed Gorgonzola salad and added filet mignon - salad was fresh and pleasant - the filet was melt in your mouth tender; filet mignon sandwich was similarly great, standard house burger was delicious. I get meat here every week from their in-house butcher shop. Everything we have ever brought home has been just perfect. Barrel-cut tenderloin filet steaks, house-smoked bacon, thick cut pork chops, you name it. The several times we have had the opportunity to eat here has been great as well. Amazing fresh lunch specials that are really a deal and super high quality. A full steak dinner with all the fixings. Casual dining but top notch food. The staff is amazing. Super professional but very friendly. It is apparent that this is a family owned and operated establishment, because that is how they treat their guests, like family. My opinion after two visits is...mixed. Went a few weeks ago and had the signature burger and battered fires. Both were excellent. Prices were reasonable and in line with other "like and kind" restaurants locally. Went yesterday and had the French Onion Soup which was served tepid at best and overloaded with so many croutons, there was hardly any soup ! The cheese was tasteless. I would not recommend their French Onion soup. Along with the soup I had the $8 steak sandwich/cheesesteak special which was tasty and came on a very fresh club roll without sides (didn't need them.) The food here is absolutely deserving of 5 stars, as was the service. Only slight issue was that we looked at the menu online vefore going, and the wife got her heart set on a sandwich that is no on the actual menu. We got over that pretty quickly though. My daught got the Philly steak sandwich, and after her first bite she quickly said it was the best steak sandwich she had since we visited Philly. My wife got a half pound sirloin burger and it was so good that she insisted on eating every bite despite proclaiming how stuffed she was around 3/4 of the way through it. Myself, I had the turducken. It is every bit as good as it was proclaimed to be on Food Network. This was truly worthy of any Thanksgiving table. Perfectly cooked birds surrounded by potatoes stuffing and gravy with that delicious homemade feel. If yo are in the area its a must, and if you're a food tourist it is worth the trip. read more

The barbecue platter included plenty of smoked sausage, super tender brisket and killer pork ribs. One tip - it is served with a lot of sauce on the meats, so you might ask for sauce in the side. The only suggestion I'd make is to add some of their bread with the meal. I would have brought some bread home if it was half as good as the meal. If you're looking to impress their meat counter had some beautifully marbled steaks for you to take home. We cruised here on a Saturday night around 7:30. All of the other restaurants in the area, even the crappy ones were packed. But, this steakhouse did not have a wait and the parking lot was half empty. I read the reviews and decided to give it a try, since my husband was in desperate need of American food. The dining area resembled that of an old Sizzler buffet from the 1970's, so I was shocked when I looked down on the cheap paper placemat menus covered in pricy items. The waitress acted deeply saddened that we did not want to order any appetizers, like we were making a terrible mistake. All of the tables around us were ordering the basket of homemade Potato Chips ($5.00), but I was not ready to make a greasy mistake that would haunt me. I would have to disagree, since I could only finish one third of my entrée. There was a selection of German items as well as the usual steak fare. The garlic bread was soggy and had more paprika than garlic, we only ate a couple of bites. The gorgonzola salad was tasty and came with my meal. The Manhattan Style Conch Chowder had some sand grit in it, but other than that tasted well and came with the other meal. The Delmonico 14 oz ($22.00) was 20% bone and about 1/2 inch thick and juicy, brushed with butter and grilled to perfection. I am happy that I ordered medium well, because the inside was very pink. The Twice Baked Potato ($2.00 additional) tasted decent but had a margarine flavor rather than butter or sour cream. The Chopped Sirloin 10 oz ($14.00) was a little dry, as most sirloins are, but the butter covering made it a little more juicy than usual. The flavor was great, but it would have been nice with some of those $5.00 grilled onions that we could not bring ourselves to spend $5.00 on. It is just an onion! I have never paid $14.00 for a hamburger patty before, but I guess the butter on top doubles the price. If I made it at home, I could at least afford to put some cooked onions on top for under $5.00. The Fries were really tasty twice fried wedges with a little seasoning, which was perfect. We wanted to order dessert because the Bread Pudding with Amaretto Sauce sounded amazing, but we were way too full at that point to eat anything else. $55.00 later we left with a tummy ache and slightly greased out. I was surprised to see that the restaurant was featured on Food Network, and maybe they have raised the prices since then. A little overrated. read more

While in town decided to stop by this place. It had a nice view inside and a good flow of customers on a Friday night. Jeff our server was attentive and seemed to have a few regulars coming in, as we heard the conversation near us about those customers being in a band. Ordered the BBQ sampler which was ok. The sausage tasted odd and the rest was smothered in bbq sauce however the ribs were good. I'll gladly fork over a 20 for a delicious heaping pile of smorgasbord on my plate. You're sure to be stuffed (maybe uncomfortably) after eating any of their meals, steak & cheese was a favorite too. If you feel guilty for consuming so much meat, potatoes and grease, pair it with a side of light creamy dill cucumber salad or tangy coleslaw - both are delicious. One area Alpine can improve on is service or lack thereof. The pleasantries are nice and all, but I'd rather our server get us our condiments right away and not after we've finished our appetizers. First let me say the butcher staff are friendly, the quality of their meats are very good and the prepared food is good on the restaurant side of the business. However, I am only giving it one star because of their complete disregard of staff/customer safety during the COVID pandemic. Not one butcher, not one waiter and not one of the patrons eating in were wearing masks or gloves (butcher). The waiter handed me a pen to sign for my take out order and did not wipe it after I used it and he continued to use it for other orders. Clearly this business is promoting denial of the COVID risks by their behavior and disregard for social distancing. We started with grilled oysters and stuffed jalapeño poppers. The oysters were actually very good, the jalapeños not so much. For a place that declares they use only the freshest ingredients, they ought think twice about serving frozen jalapeño poppers. This place is nothing to get too excited about. I had the Gorgonzola salad, the dressing was homemade but lacked flavor, it basically tasted like an herbed sandwich oil for an Italian grinder. My husband had the pastrami sandwich and said the pastrami was good but lacked enough "pastrami" to be a sandwich. "Where's the beef!?!" Lastly, the meat counter could use a good amount of cleaning, it appeared it had NEVER been cleaned, I nearly lost my appetite after viewing the filthy glass and unappetizing meats inside the case.
