the negligence from Dr. Reed killed my best friend. Dr. Voss and Dr. Long had a great clinic. My poor Lucy was almost 16 years old and they could not even trim her nails without making her bleed. Then to find out the seizures that killed her was due to this 'Doctors" misdiagnosis and arrogance , in that he would not hear or take into account what the owner KNEW! I believe there is one staff member left that actually cares about the health and wellbeing, whereas the rest are very rude and unwelcoming. On top if murdering my best friend, they will charge you mire than you are quoted as if it is no big deal and run frivolous tests that are not even read properly. * I am blown away to find out that this "Doctor" is nothing more than a fraud and a scam artist that kills the pets that are entrusted in his care. Long time client. They have had some great team members. Now everything is about money. I took my dog in for an emergency appointment three days ago. $600 later, partial diagnosis of pancreatitis. Take him home and keep him hydrated. I still haven't got blood work verifying this. When he did call with results, minus pancreas numbers, it was mid afternoon, 24 hours later. Asked how he was doing, when I told him not well, he advised me that they couldn't do much and to take him to the ER clinic. Then laid out possibly expensive treatments they might do. He than told me to get the family together to discuss essentially whether or not to spend the money to keep him alive. Day 3, no check in at all. I would think he would at least want to know if he still had a patient to make money from. The good news my pup took a turn for the better after getting the death sentence and I think he is going to make it. read more

Yesterday I was told that the reason I ended up cancelling my appointment was likely due to this clinic's recent transition to corporate ownership. The doctor who saw my dog was wonderful. The way the place is run, the pricing, the communication, the lack of cooperation, the fact that I felt like a complete stranger there...(and not a particularly welcome one)...led me to abandon the prep for a planned procedure midstream and exit the building in search of other options. All time first for me. Disappointing. But probably a relief to the staff, who reminded me that they are "30 days out for appointments." Good for the shareholders. read more

Outstanding Veterinarian! My fuzzy kids are NOT terrified to visit Dr. Long, my dogs are happy to see him. In my lifetime of rescuing animals in CA and OR I have known a total of 3 veterinarians that had the "Dr. Dolittle" gift. Dr. Long is one of them. He projects calm, gentle emotional energy putting animal's wellbeing first, not just manhandling animals into compliance. Note: Very rare to have a vet that won't do unnecessary tests, scans, X-rays, or procedures to run up the bill causing more fear/trauma for the animals. He is very knowledgeable which means he doesn't need to run lots of tests to diagnose most ailments. I'm very grateful a dear friend referred me to him. read more

Wow, we paid stupid money for an anal glad expression for our dog at this Vet clinic. $62 total bucks for 5-10 mins max of a Tech's time. $37 was for the expression (which was $35 in late 2023), and $25 for (get this) "Tech Appointment". Per My 2023 invoice, I wasn't charged for a "Tech Appt". I was also quoted the $37 over the phone, but silly me, I didn't ask for TOTAL cost of procedure. Also, my poor dog also smelled terrible from the procedure all the way home. Could they have at least wiped his behind with a nice smelling wipe before giving him back? Either Bend has way too many wealthy people who can afford such nonsense, or the cost of having professional care has sky rocketed, and they are having to cut corners on service and care. Arc Animal Clinic use to be a great clinic, but my dog and I won't be returning. In the meantime, I'll figure out how to do anal expression with YouTube assistance and save the bucks. $62 will buy a lot of lates gloves. PS. We've noticed the past few months how empty the parking lot of this vet clinic is every time we drive by on Greenwood. Now we know why. read more

It seems to me that the negative reviews about Ark must be based on staff that are not working there any more. Maybe they took criticism to heart as my experience was very positive. Dr Webb took all the time I needed to discuss my dogs problems and how we can take care of him to keep him healthy. Other staff were also great and seemed to really care about the animals in their care. Vet care can seem expensive but I don't trust my dog to the low bidder. I also have Pet Plan insurance to help in case of serious issues. read more

We have been taking all of our pets here for over 5 years & have always had a good experience. We have 1 dog & 2 cats & it feels like the doctor genuinely cares about my animals even loving on them a little bit before getting the exam going which really helps them relax. There have been a few times we've needed a weekend appointment due to conflicting work schedules & it's very nice that the Ark is open on Saturday. Ooh & that it's not more expensive just because it is on a Saturday. read more

NEVER take your pet here. they are rip off, scam artists. $800 for a visit. Recommended treatments that do not need to be done just so they can make money. They took tests and told us our dog had heartworm, but we did two more separate tests from other places and they are negative. Do not take your pets here. I recently moved to Bend (07.07.2021) and called every single vet clinic in the area. I was determined to find a clinic that had the most reasonable pricing for exams and labs, as well as friendly and well-educated staff. The receptionist that answered the phone was not only incredibly friendly, but was also the only one who asked for more info on my cat (age, weight, breed, name) after I asked her about potential bloodwork. I continued my search, but ended up calling this clinic back and scheduling my cat (very quick scheduling). The vet I saw was so nice and good with my cat. He took the time to answer all of my questions. I highly recommend going here. read more

Yesterday afternoon, I was playing with my dog at an off-leash dog park when another dog got a little too excited and bit mine on the mouth. This bite fractured my dog's canine tooth down to the pulp. I called The Ark and got an appointment first thing in the morning. They kept my dog for several hours to perform the surgery and allow for recovery time. The dental work itself was outstanding and something I'd expect from an expensive dental specialist - but it was very affordable. This was the second time I brought my dog here. The first time was his initial exam after I adopted him from the Humane Society, which was also a positive experience. The clinic itself is very clean.. like, immaculate. The staff are professional and seem to really love animals. Can't recommend this place enough. read more

We've seen so many different veterinarians over the years and once we found The Ark 6-7yrs ago we felt so fortunate. Dr Voss is compassionate, knowledgeable, and very genuinely kind. The office staff are competent and respectful. Just over a year ago Dr Long joined the clinic and he is an absolutely perfect addition. He is every bit as compassionate, knowledgeable and kind as Dr Voss. We love him too! Pricing is fair & reasonable considering the excellent quality of care. We truly feel like they are extended family and trust our pets' lives & wellbeing with them explicitly. They have a small town vibe in an ever growing Bend. My review is extremely mixed. The support staff and vet techs are amazing. I always enjoyed working with them and they genuinely cared for my cat's well being. However, I'm far less impressed with the doctors themselves. I took my cat with chronic kidney disease to Ark for over a year. Here are my observations. -They did not mention or monitor my cat's blood pressure which tends to be very high with kidney disease. My cat ended up going blind because of the uncontrolled blood pressure. It was so high, it couldn't even be measured when I took her to the emergency vet. -The doctors are not good at returning phone calls in a timely manner. This resulted in another trip (and $800 bill to the emergency vet) -The doctors did not aggressively treat other issues that were part of the kidney disease. Specifically, the digestive distress she was under. It took them a year to let me know I could give her Pepcid for her acidic stomach. -I had an appointment to put her to sleep, but she passed away at home the evening before the appointment. I left them a voice mail explaining that I wouldn't be coming in because she had died. They did not call or contact me in any way. Seems like a pretty sad lack of compassion and sympathy. Especially after I'd spent a lot of money there in the last year. And I have another cat (that I won't be taking to them) that would need veterinary care. -I'm going to end this on a positive note. My cat had a risky dental procedure. It was complicated due to her kidney failure. They did get her through the surgery and were right to urge me to proceed with that very scary step. read more

Dr. Voss is very kind and knowledgeable, and I felt that she deeply cared about the well-being of my dog. She also was very generous with her time and spent more time than I am used to during the exams and asked me lots of questions. Our eighteen year old cat had a skin tumor. We were worried about anesthesia and the trauma of surgery. After a thorough exam, Dr. Voss was confident it could be removed with minimal trauma. The surgery went beautifully, and we brought Dave home. After a couple of days, complications arose, so we took the cat in again. Dr. Voss was awesome ~ she redid the procedure using stainless staples instead of the soluble sutures (which may have caused the problem) and didn't charge us a penny! Dave is thriving, and we're blessed to have him whole again. Dr. Voss and the staff at The Ark are awesome ~ I highly recommend them for their compassion and expertise! read more

This place was recommended to me by a good friend because Dr. Webb was a student of hers and she thinks highly of him. Also, Dr. Voss was my longtime vet in Eugene until she moved to Bend a few years ago. I was happy to see she is here now. I cannot speak highly enough of her. She is a very kind, soft, gentle soul and a great Veterinarian. I trust her completely and my dog loved her too. If you have heard bad reviews, I would consider the source and not the business. Absolute worst vet experience I have ever had, and I have lived in 3 different states with my puppy and have had 2 exceptional vets in the past. First off My appointment was at 4pm and after arriving 10 minutes early the receptionist had me stand there without acknowledging me or telling me that I could sit down because it will be a minute... she just sat there and printed out papers I thought I would have to sign. Second off, the doctor was 30 minutes behind schedule and no one took the time to tell me that the vet is running behind and it will just be a minute or so. They just had me sit there wondering how much longer I was going to have to wait past my appointment time. Third off, by the time they took us back my 1 year old puppy was already uneasy about being there for such a long time, was also unsure about this random person leading him back to a random room. My puppy wouldn't let the vet tech touch him because he gets nervous at the vet, and certain people. She then told me that she was going to get his vaccines ready and went back to the back room. 5+ minutes later my puppy was asleep on the floor and the vet and vet tech opened the door without knocking first, scaring my dog, so he barked at them. The vet then looked at me and ordered me to put the leash back on my dog... didn't ask, but ordered me to do so. She then told me that in order for her to do the exam and shots my puppy would have to wear a muzzle. My puppy has never even shown interest in biting anyone, and only barked at them when they came in because they scared him out of a nap. To make an even longer story short I wouldn't go back to Ark if someone paid me to do so. They took no time to get to know my puppy, and showed no interest in doing so. I wouldn't recommend this vet clinic to my worst enemy. read more

Since moving to Bend nearly four years ago, I've always taken my cats to Ark Animal Clinic. Dr. Voss is extremely well-informed and communicates clearly. She also is analytical, rather than superficial, in her approach to pet health issues. I should mention that she saved one cat's life in 2012 by surgically removing a foreign object from his lower digestive tract. The staff at ARK are friendly and helpful. read more

Dr Voss and Dr Long are Amazing. My wife and I have been taking our dogs to the Ark for many years now. They are very affordable and most of all, compassionate! I have been using Dr. Voss and the Ark Animal Clinic now for 4 or 5 years. They are the worlds best vet clinic I've ever been to. My doxies are well taken care of and the staff and Dr. Voss take a personal interest in their well being. We lost one doxie because of a gall bladder, but Dr. Voss did her best to try to save that baby and it was just her time to go. I will always be forever indebted to Dr Voss for trying so hard to save her. Now we have a new little girl and Dr. Voss is very excited about her. The customer service is horrible and the people here are very rude. They seem to be all about money and tend to not completely inform you of costs and other important information. I also felt like I was being talked down to and that I knew nothing about my pet. However there is one very nice employee and she is very helpful. I think the rest of the staff would benefit from learning customer service from her. I plan on looking for a new vet with better customer service. read more

I brought brought my dog boe to ark animal clinic when I noticed that she had a lump on her front left leg. Shenis a lab healer mix. I thought it was an abscess, and was expecting to receive antibiotics and possibility get it lanced. The vet I saw informed me that it was bone cancer and estimated that bow had two months to a year to live. This was obviously horrible news. Especially for poor bow who had been abandoned at my house by a relative of the previous renters and once again by the renters. Boe had obviously been severely abused. You could not come near her without her flinching, and cowering and it took me months to get her to realize that she was in a safe place. I have only had her for two years. I was given tramidol and carprofin to reduce pain and inflimation. I have kept a close eye on the rapidly growing tumer on bows leg,l. two months later she started licking her tumer raw. I could see in her eyes that she was in extreme pain. I took her back to ark, and was scheduled with a different vet than the first. This suprised me and made me a little uncomfortable. I was hoping that she would be seen by the same veterinarian, who has seen her and has a better understanding of her case. I felt that boe needed something to stop her from creating hot spots, which could lead to serious infection. I also felt she neefed better pain medication, because she seemed to be in a lot of pain. Boe being In The amount of pain that she was in and being previously abused was having a hard time getting onl the scale. The vet tech offered no assistance , and did not even think to give her a treat to lure her on lot the scale. She seemed totally incompetent and In over her head. The entire time I spoke with the vet she was staring at bow with a terrified look in her eye, like she extremely disturbed by boes condition. the vet told me to give her one more tramidol a day and told me that she did not need a higher level of pain medication. I asked about something to keep her from licking tumour which had been licked raw, and they suggested getting a doggy boot from REI. this put up a red flag for me because boes tumer is about six inches in diameter and at least one inch raised. There is no way a boot for a dog without a huge tumer on their leg would fit her. I also was given incredibly vague answers to all of the questions. She told me they had nothing that she could wear to keep her from licking. And no topicle solution that could relieve the pain or stop the urge to lick. I felt like the vet was doing nothing for her. I told that there was no way any boot would fit her leg that was not custom fit, so she gabe me a flimsy sleave that was tied around her shoulder and neck. Pretty much like a sling. Shortly after getting home from the vet I realized that boe had licked though the flimsy fabric that was given to me and was bleeding and in pain. I was very upset and called rhe vet the next day and complained that I felt that bows needs were not met. The vet said that she would give me a prescription for stronger pain relievers. When I went to pick up the prescription the next day they had also wrote a prescription for antibiotics to ward off infections which may be caused by the wound. I as very upset that if I did not call Back and complain my dog would still be in extreme pain and possibly die of an Infection. I will not be going back to ark and I would not recommend them to anyone. read more
