BURNT machaca with CARBON onions. Really? You're plating that?
    Greg S.

7:30 AM is the perfect time to get in here. No waiting, less noisy, better service. Today I ordered the machaca which had beef, onions, bell pepper, tomatoes, eggs, etc. I LOVE the hash browns here. A nice buttery flavor that other restaurants do NOT have. The meal came with 2 hot flour torts. The machaca was totally OVER COOKED, dry and even the onions were BLACK from being overcooked. Like charcoal in your machaca?? That's what it taste like. I ate it, but it wasn't cooked with any care whatsoever. It's like the cook slapped it on the grill and then went on a smoke break. Machaca should be juicy with a char on the veggies, the eggs should be moist. Very disappointed in what was placed on the table. You'd think that a Hispanic cook might KNOW this. I'll be back but next time I will NOT accept a plate like that. You're a cook, timing is IMPORTANT! The service is always good here and the patrons are colorful, some loud and odd. lol Staff handles things well! -G

Went for a quick breakfast with my Dad and Son & The taste Levels of the Huevos Rancheros is easily one of the best spots in the area for authentic flavor and top-tier flavor! The service is great. Everybody is very welcoming I really like the music they play here too love hearing old school while enjoying my meal. The biscuits and gravy were fresh and steaming hot! The plates here are served in very generous portions that never disappoint. So bring your appetite. A definitely must try... Whether you're stopping by for a quick lunch or a family dinner, the atmosphere is welcoming and the staff makes you feel right at home. If you're looking for a reliable, delicious meal that hits the spot every time, this is the place to go.

Al's cafe is an OG spot that my fiancé has been going to since he was young. We've added it to our breakfast rotation. The food & service is amazing. Make you feel so welcomed and kept the coffee flowing. I had the chile verde plate and my goodness ‍ chefs kiss

My dad loves coming here for their menudo and honestly it is very good. Its definitely home-made. The flavors are great. You have the option to get it with "pata" or "no pata", but the pata does give it that extra tasty flavor. We've never had an issue with waiting too long for seating, the staff is always quick with service and will find a place to seat you and your family. One of the things I love most about this restaurant, is the ambiance. The staff is always so friendly and smiling. Anyone you come across from their staff from the waitstaff to the busboys, they are all very helping and willing to accommodate you in whatever you may need. This time around, I got the breakfast burrito because I had ordered it last time and I loved it. They have many options for burritos on the menu, but I stuck with the classic breakfast one. I ordered it with, eggs, bacon, cheese, potatoes and sausage. It was very delicious. The bacon was so crispy and the cheese just pulled everything together. I absolutely loved it. I also ordered one pancake, and honestly one is all you need. They are HUGE. Two people can easily eat off one pancake. They are the size of a plate. Their pancakes always one of those classic breakfast options that you can never go wrong with. They have nice flavor and are nice and fresh when served. Overall, I do recommend Al's if you are looking for some classic Mexican-food. It is a good spot to have breakfast at.

We were on our way to the zoo and looking for some breakfast beforehand. We noticed the number of cars in the parking lot at Al's and figured they all must know something. We were greeted immediately and everyone was very friendly. This seemed like the kind of place that the servers know all of the regulars by name...and there seemed to be a lot of regulars. We went with the chilaquiles and country fried steak. The country fried steak wasn't homemade, but other than that everything was pretty amazing. The refried beans were great and the hot sauce was very flavorful. We asked for the hash browns extra crispy and they delivered. Overall we were very pleased with our experience at Al's.

We were on our way through ,on the way to coast and I wanted traditional breakfaset eggs , toast etc and my partner was feeling soup. We came across Als Cafe that showed pretty much what we were looking for. I got eggs ,hashbrowns , wheat toast, and patties everything was delicious. My partner got the albondigas he wasnt satisfied even after adding hot saice and salt they were okay just the flavor wasnt there!! Javier server was exeptional server always checking with us and everyone to see if everything was okay or if we needed anything. They had inside and outside seating not the fancy place if thats what your looking for, it has the diner cafe set tableschairs but a very good well setup!!! This place got me the happy dance!!!

Not quite like I'd remembered the place. Service was lacking. No refills on drinks. Food was ok. I like their chips, the salsa was just ok. Loved the biscuits and gravy. Busy place. It was nice to see some familiar faces there.

The menudo here is to die for. Delicious . The people are very nice too. The rest of the food is also good. But we come for the menudo.

Honestly never had a bad meal here, reasonable prices with good customer service. One of my favorite spots in Fresno for breakfast/lunch. Highly recommend if you're in the area. Support local businesses, this is my spot.

Good American and Mexican food. Good prices and portions, a local favorite and incredibly friendly staff, you'd think you were one of the regulars on your first visit. It's an older dining room but great for old fashioned service and food. Come see why this is a favorite local spot.

I had went here because we heard good things and I was not disappointed. The ambiance is definitely simple and a bit cramped, the seating arrangement is probably the worst thing about this place, it's CROWDED, and moving around can be a bit uncomfortable but, once you get your food, you quickly realize why this place us always crowded. I had the chicken fried steak and it was UNBELIEVABLE, I never had a country fried steak with such a rich and flavorful gravy, and this alone is enough for me to return, if you don't mind the crowds or noise, this place is the perfect place for breakfast and lunch, with them also make accommodations for larger parties, the price point was very fair and I hope this place is able to upgrade to a better building because the deserve it. Not your average diner food this place has food made with skill, craft, and love. RECOMMENDED

This place is officially bookmarked for every future drive through Fresno!…read more The lengua and chicharrón tacos were honestly some of the best I've ever had. I also sampled the carnitas on top of crispy taco shells as well. The meat was incredibly tender, juicy, and packed with flavor, and the tortillas came out hot, fresh, and perfectly cooked. Every bite reminded me why simple food done right is hard to beat. I was hoping to try the mojara frita, menudo, and barbacoa, only to find out the menudo and barbacoa are weekend only specialties. Needless to say, I was pretty disappointed, but it also gives me a great reason to come back. What really stood out, beyond the food, was the hospitality. David, who appears to have been running the place for over 20 years, was incredibly charismatic and provided the kind of customer service that seems harder and harder to find these days. You can tell he genuinely cares about both the restaurant and the people who walk through the door. One of my favorite parts of the visit was when I saw the owner come out and greet the regulars and customers. The interactions felt sincere and heartfelt, not forced. There was a real sense of community here, as if customers weren't just patrons but part of an extended family. That kind of atmosphere is special and says a lot about the people behind the business. Great food, warm hospitality, and a welcoming environment--I'll definitely be back, hopefully on a weekend next time.

Location/services: Upon entering the building I immediately noticed the heat. It was a hot 98 degree day and the restaurant felt like an oven and was maybe 3-5 degree cooler than it was outside. I then quickly noticed this was a very simple operation (almost like a food truck), and not much to the menu, but there were folks sitting and eating and a few others waiting to order, so I assumed the food must be great. We ordered 4 meals (tacos with rice/beans) which was meant to be eaten there but after waiting in line and feeling like we were in a hot box, we decided to make it to go. We sat and waited for our food (about 20 mins), we chatted and observed our surroundings and it became very apparent the restaurant was not maintained with basic cleaning because it was very grimy and just plain dirty. I then used the restroom and it was absolutely disgusting. Our ordered was called and the staff was very nice. The food: As I mentioned, we got 4 orders of tacos (all carne asada) with rice/beans, and we asked for salsa and limes. We got grilled jalapenos, lemons and one sandwhich baggy filled with red salsa. Not a big deal. The meat was fine but the tortillas were inedible. They were tough, flavorless, and greasy. The bean and rice were ok. We ate enough to curb our hunger but none of us finish our food. Upon my best judgement, I had convinced myself that the food was gonna be great because their Yelp rating told me so. I was so wrong! One last note, there was nothing here that resembled a bakery/panaderia. So if you think you could also grab a treat here, you are wrong.

What could have been a disappointing surprise turned into one of the best local dining experiences we've had in a long time. We had the pleasure of meeting Miguel himself, and his hospitality immediately stood out. He took the time to introduce us to several items on the menu and encouraged us to try a little bit of everything. I'm glad he did. The red beans and rice were absolutely phenomenal, and every single thing we tasted was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with pride. You can tell Miguel genuinely cares about both the food and the people he serves. What impressed me most wasn't just the food--it was the atmosphere. Miguel has a gift for making you feel welcome. His heart for hospitality is second to none, and it's obvious that serving great food and creating a great experience are his top priorities. If you're looking for a hidden gem in Clovis, this is it. Whether you're stopping in to catch a game, grab a meal with friends, or enjoy a simple flip-flop date night with your spouse, Miguel's is worth the visit. Miguel sells his auntenthic mexican food and Lisa sells her favorite sweet treats. By far on the market, they sell pretty bomb salsa! It's not like the generic salsa from store bought one, it's just like the unique homemade family recipes. And trust me, these are not as supper vinegary. I love Miguel's salsa! Miguel's message was to serve his community and bring his tradition to the table. He brought the flavors of Michoacan and Jalisco Mexico which were passed down from the Segura family. SERVICE :: I love Miguel's service! He personally serves you and greet you there. He offered me free chips and salsa while i wait. They were quiet busy but get things done quickly too. RATE : 5/5 SALSAS & CHIPS - COMPLIMENTARY:: His salsas and chips were the best thing I've ever recieved. He serves his famous red and green salsa with a little bit of ground beef on top. They go so well together. RATE : 5/5 RED SALSA :: It's hard to describe it here but it's roasty burnt salsa full of flavors. Not too vinegary. You just got to try it in person. RATE : 5/5 GREEN SALSA :: I personally love the green sauce more, in general. And still Miguel's green salsa still beats the red salsa. I can taste all of the greens and fruit in it. It may be advertised mild but the heat is there. It's about almost the same spice level as the red salsa. RATE : 5/5 ASADA TACO ($3.49) :: Besides his salsa, his tacos were amazing too. It's well seasoned, unique, and full of flavor. The asada is something that I've never tasted before. It's very herby, well seasoned to taste, juicy and tender! RATE : 5/5 TACOS DORADOS ($4.49) :: The tacos dorados were something different from what I've had before and were absolutely delicious. This taco reminds me of birria. The texture and flavor were also amazing. I asked for pork, it was supper moist, tender and juicy full of flavors. The cotija cheese brings a nice dry and light cheesy taste to it. And lastly, those pickled jalapeno just give a pop of juicy, sour, and spicy flavor. RATE : 5/5 PISTACHIO CREAMES ICED MATCHA (16oz - 6.49) :: Lisa use Tenzo brand. I've used and tried Tenzo before and it's hard to ratio the matcha. Over portion Tenzo match will be too bitter and too little too diluted. And yes, Lisa's Matcha was on the diluted side. The pistachio flavoring is light and taste artificial. The sweetness level is perfectly sweetend. Not too sweet. RATE : 2/5 NOTE : Spend anything above $50, get a $5 dollar off voucher for the next purchase. OVERALL :: Overall, it's a hidden gem that's definitely worth checking out! Don't forget his salsas, he do sell them on the side. I'll definitely go back for more and try his other menu!
