I woke up craving donuts but not grocery store style donuts.. like good ol' donut shop yummy goodness type of donuts. I found Al's on Yelp near my house and decided to try it this morning. Got there a little after 8 am with still great selection left. I was welcomed in by a very friendly woman, she was eager to help me pick my dozen. Got a maple bar, which added $1.39 to the $9.99 dozen price, the rest were raised donuts in a variety of flavors & a few cake donuts. 3 of my raised donuts were not cooked & were raw in the middle. The cake donuts were very dense, but still moist. Yum! The maple bar was disappointing, the maple glaze seem a little burnt or just different from what I'm personally used to. Over all, great little donut shop but minus two stars for the raw donuts. I would give it another chance for sure! read more

I love this place my favorite donut place nothing can replace it! My fave from here are the donut holes and MAPLE BARS . It use to be regulate glaze and chocolate glaze. Who knows maybe it will change again soon. They may not know your name but they know your face if you have come there a lot. Most drinks are in refidge units (they are bottle & cans, with milk in small cartons). Shopping center parking lot. No outside tables, with about 4 small cafe style tables inside, Most sales are order/take out. All food items are made there on premises. Staffing are owners, relatives, and a couple of long-term employees. Very friendly staff. Owners are involved in neighborhood .and support various organizations locally. Donuts do run more than supermarket massed-produced donuts, but get what you pay for - hours fresh donuts and other goods, variety. I come to the Raley's shopping center every Saturday morning to pick up my dry cleaning, and when I'm done, treat myself to a doughnut of some kind. I get there early enough that they are always fresh, and the selection is bigger. Who doesn't love the scents of a fresh bakery. Small eat-in section, and there's almost always a table or two filled with local regulars. YES YES YES, low carbs diet my a$#. I had never been here when we were having a huge house remodel, redesign and remove one weekend. Needless to say we couldn't find our butts with both hands and a road map let alone figure out where the stuff was to cook with. We had roughly a million people (ok I'm exaggerating but not by much) working in the house so we take a trip to Als for breakfast. Now I'm thinking yea doughnuts, whoopee until we pull up and the line is 1/2 mile long (again a small exaggeration, it was only 1/4 mile) and the doughnuts were flying out the door like lottery tickets on a huge jackpot Saturday. When we get to the counter they are extremely efficient, friendly and organized. When we get home it's like a piranha feeding frenzy. I have been to Al's many times over the years, used to stop by after I was done with my paper route on the weekends in the morning as a kid and now continue to stop by every so often when I am back in the area as an adult. The staff is always helpful and friendly, the prices fair, selection plentiful, and the buttermilk, custard filled and old fashioned are some of the best I have ever tasted. A special treat is their custard and jelly filled donut holes, just plop in your mouth and enjoy the bliss, i think those sell out pretty fast though. Great little local donut shop. The selection was slim both tines we were here, which in my case is always a good sign! I am soooo not a morning person, so if there are leftovers by the time I roll in its a bad sign. By 11 there were some cakies, french cruellers, danishes, bear claws, apple fritters, and ham n cheese croissants. I snagged the last if the danishes and a few others. They were super yum!
