I was looking for a reasonable shoe repair shop, and remembered this place from long ago. I called , and the shop was still there. I took in 3 purses for repair; one was my mother's Katherines Spade...needed to replace the leather handles, mostly sentimental value for me, one needed a magnetic slip to close, and the other was for strap attachment! . Well... I can't say enough wonderful things about this business!! Jack and his worker are absolutely great! Friendly and professional. It was the first time I had been there and needed work on an old favorite pair of shoes. I actually didn't know if they were repairable or not. In less than 2 days, that pair was fixed like brand new and, also, full new soles on a pair of old boots was finished. Such a reasonable price for both!! I am very grateful! I had Service request with Jack several times from fixing things like purses, belts, and shoes. Every time the service is done with extremely low prices, extra quality service and done in an extremely timely manner. There's lots of places in Sherman Oaks I used to go to and they were extremely overpriced and the quality isn't even half as good as what Jack does. This review is by no means a reflection of customer service because they were nice; however, highly recommend staying away for any luxury brand shoes. I wish they would have been honest that they don't specialize in luxury brands. I bought a pair of Gucci heels and called them based on reviews asking if they do the clear sole protectors. They said yes bring before 12 PM. I said great I need them for a wedding that I leave for in less than 12 hours, so I'll give it a try. Fast forward, they don't have clear sole protectors. They placed a rubber protector on this brand new heel -- scratched the sole to add glue to attache the rubber sole. I did see he had a tan colored sole when I went back because I had bad gut feeling, but I thought that's what he would use to outline the clear sole protector... that was clearly not the case. Unfortunately, I feel the integrity of the shoe was compromised and I'm so sad because they were delivered today and fresh out of the box. I'm hoping with some wear they'll look a little bit better, but I'm already bothered it took my excitement away. I really wish they would have just been honest they don't specialize in this brand of shoes... I have a place in Burbank I love, but I just moved to the area and thought it was worth finding new local spots. Big, costly mistake... read more

Wish I could say that I found my new shoe repair place, and that the quality of work done was worth the price - but, sadly, I cannot. Unfortunately, my previously beloved shoe repair shop closed (and he retired) during Covid and since it was time to find some place new - off to Yelp I went. The soles on my well-worn Teva sandals were peeling and needed to be replaced. The gentleman (whose shop reeks of cigarette smoke!) quoted a price when I brought the sandals in and, though higher than hoped, I trusted he would do a good job and it would be a worthwhile investment. However, the new soles have rough cut edges and some portions are not glued/attached well - so it will only be a short time before they start to separate again ... read more

The owner is a nice man but honestly I would avoid this place with any items you really care about or are expensive. He does sloppy work. I wish I didn't take them to him. If it's a heel replacement fine, but anything that requires the slight bit of craftsmanship I'd find another place. I gave him a bag to simply add straps and a pocket too and it was returned to me in the most sloppy way. Mismatched thread, glue residue, unfinished edges all to waste as I had to take it all apart and now find another person to help me. Save yourself the trouble and the money and take your items who takes pride in what they do. read more

This is a true mom-and-pop repair shop. Nothing fancy, but the owner is reliable, charges good prices, gets the job done and my shoes are looking good! Now, be mindful that I haven't done serious shoe surgery here yet - like tightening the calves of leather boots or patching a hole (is that even a thing???) - but I have seen designer bags hanging on the wall that needed some kind of repair so it looks like others have trusted him with this kind of advanced work. But if you need new heel tips, scratch repair, re-glue a sole, this is a great spot! read more

I was in the area a couple weeks ago and brought some very expensive sandles that were gifted to me. The man was friendly and told me to leave them and come back the next couple days. I came back and my heels would still slip out of the back even after they removed a few links of the chain. Today when I came the man dud not charge me because they tried twice and I wasn't going to keep coming back! The man today was different snd seemed irritated with me. I've been coming here for years now,from any problem with soles, boots especially, platform high shoes and all leather material. This shop is the best in the valley, the moment you walk in...you can tell these guys are good! Best thing about it too is....its cheap! I mean reasonable price guys!and the workers here are super nice, super smart and they know what they're doing!! I live like in Sherman oaks area and those guys are ridiculously gouging prices! And no long wait, you can get it done asap if you have to like in 4 hours, the latest at the most is the next business day. Saw this place because I go to crunch fitness... Had a pair of boots that needed serious attention I wish I took "before" pics. Needed them quick due to a family emergency making it necessary to fly out of state.. Suede shearling lined boots needed the soles repaired as they were coming up from the toe.. Suede needed to be cleaned and weatherproofed. They were in such bad shape I was close to not even keeping these but out of necessity I had these repaired and I'm glad I did. They look as close to brand new as a pair of 10 year old boots could hope to look. The gentleman behind the counter was very nice and had them ready the same day. Very reasonable price. I didn't want to say goodbye to my backpack, so I had my father do me the favor of having my backpacks magnetic closure clasp repaired. It's not made of the best quality, and it ripped off when I added heavy items inside. Needless to say, I was very pleased with the end results! This kind man is a true master of his trade. MY review was way past due because by now I have had several shoes repaired ( one pair painted, one stretched, one heels replaced) and a designer purse restored all done with beauty an perfection. Flawless! Prices are incredibly affordable and his time promised for the work to be done is exactly time and day he says. First I went to him on a whim, I needed my heels to my pump repair fast, so I just google the nearest one near me. He did a great job and only charged me $6.00. So when I needed my set of my boots that needed heals repaired and I had another set of boots that need both sole bottoms and heals repaired. I decided to try another shoe repair place. Well his business is called Boris Shoe repaired on Woodman Ave. Arleta CA. He wanted to charge me $40.00 and he couldn't possibly have it finished on the same day. When I was indecisive, he then said he could have it done late in the evening. I felt uncomfortable doing my business with him. He was just drinking tea and smoking when I came up to his store. So I knew he wasn't busy. ( I decided for now, not to go Boris Shoe Repair and rate his business. He was just overpriced, I do not know of his work, so I can't really rate him on yelp. ) I then decided to go back to Al's, and he only ask for $18.00 to repair two sets of my boot heals and the bottom sole. He also said he 'll have it done with few hours. Al did a awesome job, my shoes look practically new. I will now go back to him for all my shoe repair. They did excellent job on my boots. Yet not so clean job on my sandal straps... Instead of taking off threads, they cut and pasted with glue. At least it wasn't my designer shoes. Definite yes for boots, no for sewing needed sandals job. Still love the price and will go there for heels. read more
