I didn't need them urgently so it wasn't an issue for me, but if you're on a tight timeline, the name "SOS" might be a bit misleading. That said, this is clearly a small family business doing quality craftsmanship, and I'm grading on that curve. For something I need once in a blue moon, I'm more than happy with the results. I was taken aback, so didn't say much and just asked again, "how much to repair the boots?" for a second time. He gave me an estimate of $120. and reiterated he doesn't recommend getting them repaired and continued to mansplain and talk down on my boots. These are my favorite pair of black leather vintage boots from the 80's, I've had them for 20+ years, they've never given me problems. Yes, the leather isn't the best quality due to the age, but they're not trash. They still look nice. I don't wear them that often, they're part of my collection and I plan on keeping them. I didn't really appreciate the non-helpful, unsolicited advice and the overpriced estimate. I just left. 20 minutes later, I happened to be driving and saw a little Mexican shoe repair store so I pulled over. They quoted me $40., no questions. I picked them up a week later, they did an excellent job, and I can continue to keep my vintage boots.
