Note: I've posted this same review on Google Reviews…read more American Energy was one of three companies who priced my project. I met with the owner Mathew McGuire, who I found to be friendly, sincere, and someone who is vested in his business, his people, and working to ensure that he wins life-long customers with every job. I had done a lot of research with AI, so I knew my options well (that research was very helpful and I'd highly recommend doing it in advance of having people out to give you pricing). I had no intention of beating up each of the companies, I simply asked for their best pricing and options. I used AI to carefully review each bid in detail, including the proposed equipment and how appropriate it was for our home. All companies gave solid bids, but there was a very large spread between the highest and lowest. That usually concerns me, but all my research about American Energy indicated that they were a solid, competitive company. It was a big investment, but I ended up converting to an electric heat pump and also getting all our ducting replaced. We have a 2750 sf single-story home with 17 vents, so the new ducting was nearly as much as the system itself. That said, the ducting has made so much difference in terms of balancing the temperature throughout the house, which was a real probelm with the old system. The new system is extremely quiet and maintains a consistent temp throughout the day--and we've had some extremely hot days since it's been installed. American Energy's installers were all very friendly and professional, and did a great jobs with prep and clean-up each day they were here (the initial install took two days). There were a couple minor issues after the install was complete which required two follow-up appointments. One was a equipment issue that required Carrier to provide a replacement part, but Carrier was responsive and quickly provided it. For the additional follow-up appointments, their scheduling person as professional, courteous, and accommodating. In fact, she went out of her way over a weekend to re-schedule an appointment that was supposed to happen on a Monday morning. To me the company has to be a good one to A.) get that kind of diligence out of employees, and B.) to keep those kind of employees. In the end, I'm extremely happy with the system and will gladly subscribe for their annual maintenance contract.

Very disappointed with American Energy Home Pros…read more Our AC went out, and we called American Energy Home Pros to diagnose the issue. We paid a $100 inspection fee and were told we needed a new indoor fan motor. We were quoted almost $1,565 for the repair, and they didn't have the part available but said they could order it. Before agreeing to the repair, I decided to get a second opinion--and I'm very glad I did. Frost Energy Solutions came out and diagnosed the same issue. Josh replaced the same motor for $775 TOTAL, including the inspection, and even topped off our Freon. That's nearly an $800 difference for the exact same repair. I understand companies have different pricing and overhead, but I felt the original quote was extremely high, especially after finding another reputable company willing to do the same job for almost half the price. I would definitely recommend Frost Energy Solutions and Josh. He was professional, honest, fair, and transparent about the repair and pricing. In this economy, that kind of integrity means a lot! Do yourself a favor and get a second opinion before paying a high HVAC repair quote. We're very thankful we did!

Two word review: Honest, Responsive…read more This is my THIRD consecutive 5-star review for Rocklin Heating & Air. In the last 10 or so years in the area I've called RHA, one other place because they could get me to faster - had a bad experience, waited for RHA had an amazing experience, and decided they're going to be my ride-or-die for HVAC. I called them at 7am and by 11:30am their tech had fixed and tested everything and off to help someone else. Yesterday was the start of a heat wave and ... our AC unit quit on us. I called RHA as soon as they opened this morning at 7am, asked for Joe in particular, and they gave me a window between 10am and 12pm. Joe texted ahead of time at 10:30, diagnosed the blown capacitor, swapped it out, cleaned things up a bit, tested the coolant, answered a bunch of questions, and was on his way in just under an hour. The diagnostic was $129 and the capacitor was $186 today. By a complete and total coincidence, I had been running some experiments with home temperature sensors for the last week. You can literally see on these pictures exactly when the AC unit stopped working - and when RHA saved our bacon. The "other" place I called years ago only had a $79 diagnostic charge, but wanted to rip out and replace the entire HVAC system - and claimed we were taking our lives in our own hands by not getting it fixed with him immediately. Joe and RHA took care of everything for the diagnostic. Yeah, you can probably find someplace to charge you less for the diagnostic or maybe less for the part, but when your house is boiling hot / freezing cold, you want to be able to call on someone you can trust to help you out - and not take you for a ride.

They were able to get someone scheduled immediately for the next day! So, earlier this morning, our technician (Frank) called with a heads up for his arrival and showed up right on time. Now our A/C is working great again!! Thank you so much! Glad I found you guys on Yelp!

When I phoned them they mentioned they don't come down as far as the East Bay, but told me they would find out who did service the Bay Area from the manufacturers rep who was on leave at the time. True to their word they phoned me a week later with the information. I'm impressed that they took the time to phone me (thankyou Wade for your call) and made the effort to find the information I needed, when they had nothing to gain. This is service at its best, and I'll make sure I'll always recommend them to friends who live in their area.

Jordan Kendrick from Kendrick Heating and Air, Inc. came out and provided thorough inspections with exceptional explanation of the physics and mechanics of our inefficient unit vs different types of HVAC units along with efficiency and quality information. All were professional, courteous, and fine workmanship. We really appreciated Jordan's care and attention to detail, honesty, and professionalism. We highly recommend Kendrick Heating and air, Inc. for down to earth non corporate influenced care.

I had used them earlier in the year for a minor inspection and remembered how helpful and honest Alex D was. At that time, they told me the work I was considering was not urgent, even though it meant I did not move forward with the project. They responded very quickly and had Alex D. at our house by 8:30 that evening, only about an hour after I contacted them. Alex was excellent. He found an issue that had somehow been missed by another HVAC company that had been performing routine annual inspections on our system. He was courteous, respectful, informative, and very genuine throughout the entire visit. He explained what he was seeing in a way that was easy to understand, answered all of our questions, and made sure we were comfortable before doing any work. We never felt pressured or like we were being sold something we did not need. Alex clearly takes pride in his work and in making sure the customer understands what is happening. After both experiences with Cronus, they have definitely earned our trust and will be the company we call moving forward.

In my opinion, this company is more focused on profit and growth than treating customers fairly…read more I called this company to repair an air conditioner blowing hot air during the summer months. The tech, Brad, arrived and began inspecting the unit on the roof. I was right over his shoulder watching him. He noticed that the furnace control computer board looked slightly discolored. He grabbed a black piece on this computer board with his pliers and attempted to pull it off, breaking this piece and permanently damaging the board itself. He wasn't called there to look at the heater, but it seemed like he was looking for any potential thing he could find. He eventually made it around to checking out the air conditioning system. He found that one of the capacitors had failed. He had a replacement capacitor in his van that he was able to wire in to get the air conditioner going again. He was in and out in well under 30 minutes. When it came time to pay the bill, I was offered a discount on the capacitor if I agreed to sign up for their maintenance/inspection program. It came out to $455, and this was cheaper than if I had not signed up for their inspection/maintenance program. I like to be a DIY person, so I couldn't help but look up what capacitors actually cost. There are many comparable capacitors to the one I was sold that cost under $50. I don't feel like I got very good value for what I received, not including the broken computer board. Upon receiving this invoice, I also received an estimate for nearly $900 to replace the newly broken computer board. I was able to purchase this same board on Amazon for under $300, and installed it myself in about 15 minutes. Since this visit, I have received several calls from this company from what seems to be a remote telemarketing service trying to schedule my routine plumbing and HVAC inspection. Given the first experience I had with the tech breaking my furnace control board, I am not interested in having this company inspect anything on my house. The way this situation played out makes me wonder whether the techs receive a percentage of the repairs they do, thus incentivizing them to find things to fix even if there's nothing broken yet.
