My wife and I stopped in during a visit to the Bixby Knolls neighborhood of Long Beach, and was impressed by the collection of curated products, neatly displayed across the space. Folks were setting up tables for one of their many cultural events/gatherings, but their space is big enough to handle it while shoppers browse. Their retail space includes a collection of 'Filipino Komiks & Kids Lit' and prints from local/Filipino artists (two of which we've already displayed at our home). This time, ended up bringing home a 'Bangus Pro Shop' ballcap ($24.95) and Filipino Birthday Greeting Card ($5.50). The payment processing is modern, using Shopify, their website platform provider. And their associates continue to be so friendly and helpful. Kubo is just a great place to visit.

I start swimming at 6 opening time in the morning. Quiet, fresh, and fun to talk to the other swimmers. We have a challenge event to go to Catalina Island from LB from March and end in April. I almost finished one way to go there. I went to Catalina Island in the past and now I am back by swimming. Haha... super fun, relaxing in the beautiful upgraded heated pool, very spacious at the deck, lots of benches, and bbq area, jaccuzi, and etc. If you are a swimmer like me, you should come to try it out. If you love Aqua Aerobic, join the classes to workout w great music, awesome instructors everyday. You don't need to go to the other vacation resorts during Summer. the heritage clinic in long beach is literally the worst agency i have ever came across or trusted…read more they falsely have been documenting on me. they had me fill out a housing application for section 8 and never submitted it twice!!! reason that i know this is because i personally went down to the two housing agencies that these people blamed for allegedly losing my housing application in the system which are hacla and lacda and not one of those agencies have any record of my applications ever being submitted. i simply do not exist in their system and have been working with this agency since early 2022, almost 2 years already. they have not done anything for me in all of this time. i have been homeless and put myself in a homeless shelter that i found on my own, i have been there 7 months with my one-year-old and am currently pregnant however i was blessed with a new job opportunity a couple of months ago as an icms myself and they (heritage clinic carla alfonzo along with michelle stevens) exited from their agency because i disclosed that to my so-called case manager carla. they said it was a conflict of interest and they could not work with me anymore. carla sent me a supposedly copy of the application she claims she submitted for me to hacla and as of yesterday after me speaking with staff at hacla there is no record of any application or me in their system! yet carla along with her supervisor have been documenting on the homeless data base that they did submit my application however they cannot reach me and that is a complete lie! i had to block my phone number for my calls to get through to their phones and its just not fair!!! they are lying about the work that they are doing, falsifying case notes and messing up people's like me our lives because i actually had been trusting them with receiving my section 8 voucher and after being homeless for so long and all the trauma that goes on in the streets where i have had to be, little did i know i was never going to receive it because they were never doing the foot work they were claiming to be doing and definitely not helping me like they say they help people. i just want people to be more vigilant when working with the heritage clinic and not be lied to or given false hope or false news in regard to our lives and ourhousing. lastly, i have paper trail of everything that i have put on this review, e-mails, and text messages to sustain what i am saying. smh!

I took zumba class for the first time at the Y Lakewood this morning…read more I saw the aqua class around 8:30. The weather was great for the outdoor Aqua classes, not too hot, little breezy, fresh. I came here and did my lap swim about 2 years ago during pool maintenance at the Y Los Altos. The pool is big, heated, and has small hot spa (jacuzzi). The upstair cardio area is decent, has lots of upgraded machines, free weight area, and great view toward the outdoor pool. The studio for GroupEx classes is big, well air-conditioned, and clean. I stopped by women's locker room before class and noticed overall clean in the restrooms and shower. They have lots of classes for young members and seniors. Especially a variety of Aqua classes are very popular for the seniors such as Aqua fit, bootcamp, Aqua deep, and etc. The parking is big enough next to Von's market, Marshall in the large strip mall. They are like corporate gym such as 24 fitness, LA fitness. They have lots of choices for the pool activities and groupEx classes. Great workout place for family, even myself. The staff is so friendly.

I began going to the Torrance Zen Center over a year ago. I had always thought of Zen as something…read morefound in books, or from the past, or something a few other unusual people did in far-away places. Enlightenment seemed like an esoteric, out-of-reach goal, and not one I was necessarily interested in pursuing -- not understanding, it had always struck me as an ironically self-focused pursuit. A Zen state of mind, with balance and equanimity -- that seemed interesting. But through the people at the Torrance Zen Center I found that the Zen path is not about the mind, but very much of the heart, and all the compassion the heart is capable of. The practitioners follow the Greater Path, with the intention of helping anyone and everyone through Zen to manifest a better version of themselves. And Enlightenment? It's about helping other people. Becoming in sync with the Greatest Good, however the name given by one's language culture. While the foundational practitioners natively speak Mandarin or Cantonese, they all make a dedicated and successful effort to speak English in teaching, sharing, and casual interactions, for which I am deeply and profoundly grateful. They have graciously and continuously extended a warm, including welcome. I have occasionally felt "odd man out," but: my doing. Their generosity of heart always surges back and I relax a bit more. Shortly after beginning meditation practice, I noticed, to my surprise, that many people - some I knew and some I didn't - suddenly seemed more comfortable around me, eager to talk and share whatever was on their minds. Positive feelings and experiences began to dominate my life, all while retaining and improving family relations, growing friendships, and more easily establishing new connections with people. Life is short. Five Stars!
