I've had nothing but the best possible experiences with Chung. He has put the utmost care into every item I've brought there since the beginning. Very unprofessional experience. Chung is extremely rude + condescending and not honest. He lied to me about the store being closed (which I popped my head in and saw was not the case), never finishes work on time and makes it near impossible to pick things up. I have a jacket which I have attempted to pick up 3 times and I was told either the store was closed, was closed during its open hours or by the staff that Chung was not there and so they could not return it to me after paying in advance at his request. My main gripe about this place is the customer service. There are two Asian guys who work here - a taller/younger guy, and a shorter/older guy. The older guy is, without a doubt, rude on every occasion. He rarely interacts directly with customers, but I overhear him cursing in Korean about what customers are saying in the other room. The younger/taller guy is at times nice, and on other occasions, completely rude. It's like twilight zone in there, depending on his mood. Most recently, I went to pick up an alteration job. As soon as he handed me the pants, he walked into the other room and only came back in after I had changed out of them. He didn't ask how the job was, didn't make eye contact, only quoted me the price. In terms of their work, it's ok (not terrible, not excellent) but visiting the store leaves a bad taste in my mouth. read more

Excellent customer service! I needed buttons sewn on to a jacket and they comped me. I will be back with clothes I need tailored! The two gentleman I interacted with were professional and nice. read more

This is a late review, but I feel obligated to share. The guy at front desk is unprofessional. I had given a dress to fix a broken rope tie on, he replaced the ties with a shoe laces! When I pointed that out, he reacted rudely, refusing to make amends. read more

If you're looking to have your ego stroked, stay away. If you're looking for integrity, quality and no nonsense work - then look no further. Chung took the time to honestly explain things to me even though it wasn't what I wanted to hear; but he was absolutely right! The first time I was there, he turned away a $100+ job because he didn't think it was what I needed. Today, I dropped two pairs of jeans off and am sure the end result is going to be exactly as I envision it. read more

I recently went in to Alteration Concept off Perry Ave to have a tuxedo altered. I came in quite cheerfully and was greeted by a very obviously grumpy tailor. I thought it was odd, but went ahead with changing into the tux to be measured. During the measuring, the tailor was extremely rude and had a very bad attitude. I normally can tolerate some level of poor customer service, but this exceeded even my threshold. I respectfully told the tailor that I would like to stop and I changed back into my clothes and left. The tailor did offer an apology as I was leaving, but it was too late, the damage had been done. Luckily, I didn't give this company any money, but I did waste time. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time. Learn from my experience and take your business elsewhere. There are tons of tailors in the area and I am willing to bet that ALL of them are better than this one. read more

Going into this place is like a Curb Your Enthusiasm episode of just bizarrely bad customer service. The tailor refuses to offer suggestions or to take initiative in mending clothes. If you tell him exactly what to do, he'll do it, but reluctantly, and making a face like he can't believe what an idiot you are. I was reduced to reminding him that he's the tailor, not me, that it's his job to try to figure out a solution - to which he just laughed and then quoted some outrageous price for what turned out to be shoddy work. read more

This is this most bizarre tailoring experience I had. I usually get my items fitted at Saks's alteration services. This time, I came here after getting a recommendation from Club Monaco down the street. To my dismay, I entered into a dark underground cellar. I could not be even making this up. Next thing I know, two male tailors come in to examine my garment that I tried on, one young one old, both smelling like cigarette smoke. For my tailored pants, while pinning, they had touched me repeatedly in uncomfortable places. "This could not be real," I thought. I froze and didn't know how to react, assumed it was part of the profession. The tailors were condescending throughout, even more so as I was speechless now. I hurried to finish, and they proceed to quote me an exorbitant price, comparable to the Saks prices I had. Super bizarre. I asked if they had any pricing sheets -- he utters something like that they just "lost" the price sheet. I asked if there is a guarantee on the service, which is a normal insurance to make sure the garment fits ok after, and he proceeds to laugh, saying they are not professional tailors. This is getting way too bizarre, I quickly fled and will never return. read more

This review is LONG overdue. The last job I had done here was about 5 months ago. The quality of work is amazing. However, what I like the most was the honesty and service. Let me explain...I first brought over a sports jacket. I wanted the sleeves to be a bit higher so that I could show my watch. I put the jacket on and the tailor insisted on not altering it. He believed that if I were to heighten the sleeves, then I would need to do the same with the bottom of the jacket. Now while that may look nice and fit to the naked eye, the tailor insisted that it would just look cheap on me, regardless of how well the alteration would be. He was very confident in his work and insisted that it wouldn't be a smart idea to tailor that specific jacket. He even said that any tailor would do it for the money, but that making his customers happy and confident with their tailoring was more important than getting paid to alter something he didn't believe in. I admired his genuine honesty and didn't tailor the jacket. A few weeks later, I came in with a suit from JCrew. BOY, I was glad. The alterations were perfect. I have the pants brought slightly up. I cut a bit off of the sleeve. The tailoring added that extra dense of "dapper". I would recommend this place to anyone. The price is expected, considering you're in the west village area. Any other place is going to gouge you on alterations. If you're going to spend that money, at least spend it on a tailor who is genuine and great at what he does. read more

TERRIBLE. Overpriced and gave me back my jacket terribly wrinkled. And when I requested it to be steamed he snapped at me saying he's not a cleaner. And on top of all that the sleeves he hemmed were uneven. Never heard of a tailor who doesn't steam the clothing they're working on. Owner has worst attitude. So many nice local places in area not worth going here. read more

Quality alterations, however the tailor has a terrible attitude which is really a shame.

I had a great experience, they took their time with the fitting and made sure I was happy with the alterations when I tried them on for pick-up. Reasonable prices, will definitely be back! read more
