Arrived for a Saturday breakfast at 10:00 a.m. There were only 2 other tables filled. Our waitress was very sweet, but she must not have had good training as to what is expected by patrons. Took over 5 minutes to get water to us. Then we waited for bad coffee. Breakfast was delivered about 20 minutes after we ordered. But the toast didn't get brought out for at least another 5 minutes, and it was barely toasted. We had to request coffee refills. Never did get asked if we needed more water or how the meal was. Frankly, the meal was terrible. Dry and strange tasting scrambled eggs. The potatoes had some weird seasoning on them that was unpleasant. I couldn't finish my food. We will not be returning. Something is not right with this place. Management needs to wake up. read more

It was a rainy Monday. Not many people in the restaurant. So we had our doubts usually not a good sign but we decided to give it a try. We asked if there were any special and the waiter said yes. A duck with a hunter sauce and blackened salmon. I had a rib eye steak with tomato relish and my wife had the duck special. The steak was superb and the duck was good too. Took a while to get water and greeted. My fiancé asked for someone to serve us. Once we were able to order we had delicious Hawaiian wings for an appetizer. Then ribeye w asparagus and sweet potato fries. The ribeye was tough, over cooked (we both ordered medium rare) and lacking flavor...ok it was bland. The sweet potato fries and asparagus were delicious (especially the fries!!). We both ordered a beer which came timely and cold and very good. The waiter checked on us 4 times (one of which we had to ask for steak sauce to make it through the ribeye) and did better after my fiancé got him. The food was overpriced because of the lack of quality. The ambiance was nice and the service was friendly and once it got its kickstart did well...and then we had to wait for our check and a to-go box (it's like the service was bookended w bad service). We were very happy with our visit. I had the NY strip which came with a peanut butter "spread". Not sure what it's called bit it was great. All the sides were great too. The waitress was prompt and cheery. The restaurant has a dimly lit chill vibe at night. Very comfortable chairs too. The main reception area and restaurant are very modern/trendy. They were super busy when we went, but the service was slow and under staffed. This place could have so much potential with the right chef. After waiting for 2 hours to get seats, which was never happened, finally made order to go waiting for lonnnnnnnng time and the order was not even like the one we ordered. Meh - not really high on my list. Warm bread with herb butter was tasty. Crabcake apps were mushy/greasy(gross really). Shoulda sent them back in hindsight. Burger was grub. My wife liked her Chicken Oscar and wine. Bread pudding dessert was small, not very flavorful and the sauce was weak. Definitely wouldn't be my first choice for dinner while staying at the resort. H.E.L.P. is what this place needed the night we were there. We went for Happy Hour on Friday evening, and were very disappointed. While it has a pleasant atmosphere, the service was basically non-existent. There were three or four people at the bar when we got there. After about 10 minutes, a uniformed staff member looked our way, then turned on her heel and we never saw her again. At about 20 minutes, after we moved to a table right in front of the bar, the bartender came back to the bar, saw us, and apologized for being short-staffed. We gave him our orders, and after 15 minutes or so, he brought food to our table. Unfortunately, the food was for folks sitting at the bar, so he again apologized, and eventually brought us our orders. My husband asked for the pub burger with fries, and I ordered the pomegranate-braised lamb appetizer. His burger was unseasoned, and served with a dry, over-sized bun. The fries were pale and limp. My two boned lamb shanks were tasty, but about one-third fat. The deep-fried polenta was bland and tasteless, salvaged only by the pomegranate sauce. Our disappointment was somewhat alleviated by the bartender's gracious manner. read more

We stayed at the resort for our anniversary weekend, and part of our reservation was a meal at Altitude. We received two free glasses of wine for our anniversary, which was nice, but the food was only about average for the expensive price tag attached. The server was running all of the tables, with some help from the bar, but she did a phenomenal job considering the place was packed. The place itself was nice, but not over the top. For the price of the food we could have had 3 or 4 dinners elsewhere. $18 for a hamburger? Really?? read more

Just finished dinner at the Altitude! We ordered mussells, caesar salad (portion could more more), chicken marsala and lamb chops. We were skeptical due to reviews. But before we ordered we went to the spa and got 2 amazing massages from very knowledgable therapists. My husband and I agreed it was very good and the spa is upscale and just a perfect must-do. So, back to food. We both asked the therapist how they felt about the restaurant but they had heard mixed comments from their clients. My therapist told me its because they are in the process of finding the right chef. Whoever made our dinner tonight should stay!!!! We are from Seattle celebrating our 1 year wedding anniversaury and to have a 4 star dog friendly resort is hard to find. Overall, we are happy and cant wait to try their breakfast 2morrow. (Hope its good) ps. Prices are higher then usual since this is A RESORT. One more thing, service at the spa and restaurant was superb so im not sure what other yelpers were commenting about. we ar local to this restaurant. we have avoided gong to for some time because of service and high prices. we finally went yesterday and it was a joke. we were there 1 1/2 hrs. first bartender very nice and tried hard but she did not know if there were happy hr prices and what they were. finally asked someone and also gave us a discount as locals. we were the only ones in the bar. first bartender left as her shift over saying the next bartender would be in soon. some time passed and net showed up and immediately went to the kitchen. after a wait of kover 20 minutes i went to the kitchen door to say we needed service. byw first bartender asked us to pay our tab for 1 drink each rather than carrying it over to next shift as it was easier for her. 2nd bartender did not give ius the local discount. kept leaving the bar unattended. 1 other customer finally came in and i told him he needed to go find her in kitchen if he wanted anytnhing. wont be bsack here read more

Terrible service ! We sat at the bar because of the seating options. The bartender came out right away and gave us menus, all good so far. 20 mins later it's like we weren't even there. We were eye shot from the bartender but he proceeded to ignore us and attended to the people at the bar and closest to him . When we finally got up to move to dining hall he acted like he had seen us for the first time and gave us menus , again. He took our order because he must have realized at that point that he sat us at the bar 20 mins earlier. The drink my husband ordered was terrible and we tried to get the waitress in the dining hall to change it out. The waitress who was standing at the next table was just chatting it up proceeded to ignore us after we requested her help two times . Mind you she wasn't working, she was just chatting with the customers at the next table. At that point it was more than I could handle and I complained to their manager. Afterwards we got an attentive server and our dinner was salvaged. Still , I had to complain to management just to get some decent service. There was nothing " fine dining" about this place. Absolutely no variety on the menu. You get a choice of 10 entrees, that's it, and one of the cheapest things is a $13 dollar burger. $13 dollars for a burger and some shoestring fries? On top of that, the burger was mediocre, it had no flavor, at all. I still can't believe we paid $26 for two burgers here when we could have gotten some of the best burgers we've ever had down the road in Sandy at the Tollgate Inn. read more

The food was disgusting. Sauces on the ravioli and steak were so sweet that they made the dishes nearly inedible. The steak was overcooked. The gnocchi and ravioli tasted microwaved and the rehydrated mushrooms in the gnocchi dish had the texture of snot. They even messed up macaroni and cheese - completely bland, gritty and thin. I was absolutely amazed by the hostess' and the bartender's complete disregard for their customers. The restaurant is rather high end for the area so I was really surprised by the rude staff, that just ignored my party as though we were transparent. We thought it would be a good idea to eat here since we were staying here this weekend. What a mistake that was! We had the halibut and the 1/2 chicken. BOTH items were about as dried out as could be. They had both been sitting there a LONG time and the plates were obviously microwaved to make the food hot. The food was abominable. We ordered the asparagus rather than gnocchi and this was quite good, actually but there is a caviat. The halibut was so hard it was not edible so we sent it back for a "redo". My asparagus was on the plate and I had cut it up in smaller pieces to eat. The halibut came back but the asparagus did not. In it's place were a few heads of the asparagus ONLY. I asked where the asparagus went and the server argued that it was not on the plate and that she had seen it. She was lying obviously and when I asked to have it replaced, she went back and returned with a 1 inch extra sprig of "used "asparagus. UNBELIEVABLE! We ate part of the chicken but could not eat most of it as it was too dried out and told the server this as well. She indicated the manage would be out but this did not happen. Instead they took $10.00 off the meal which should have been thrown out and a "do over" needed to happen. We could not believe the abominable food and a server that argued about what was on the plate when I was the one eating it. read more

It was my first visit to Welches, Oregon and found an amazing restaurant locating inside of the Resort at the Mountain. The interior design was very sophisticated, music was quiet and very appropriate. Staffs were very friendly, chef came out to our table to see how I enjoyed his food, and looked like he did the same thing to everyone in the restaurant. Not only the staffs being so nice to people but also delicious food was unforgettable. Strongly RECOMMENDED. read more

I made a point of ordering something new at every restaurant across California and Oregon and the Oatmeal crusted Trout was superb. I would not eat here. This is the definition of mailing it in. Makes me sad because this place could be the go to fine dining spot on Mt. Hood. Instead, their wine list is the same as any wine list anywhere in America and their food is basically the same. No love. No care. No effort. Server was very nice, but it wasn't enough to lift up an essentially effortless operation. And on top of it, it's really expensive. Ate here while staying at the resort for a night. We had drinks in the bar area for happy hour which was great, followed by a really nice dinner in the restaurant. For dinner we had the calamari, shrimp linguine, and wild boar. Everything was delicious, the service (Cassie) was great, and when we didn't finish our bottle of wine we were told we could take it with us! The food definitely was more then we'd usually spend on dinner, but for having one night at the resort it was well worth it! read more

This restaurant describes itself as "fine dining" - I think not. The food was just okay, but just as important - the rest of the experience was awful. Our reservation was for 7:30 - so you would think we'd missed the family crowd? No. There were children screaming, running around tables, shaking very loud musical toys, etc... Also - when I go out for "fine dining" most people usually step up the attire a bit - however, most people there were in flannel shirts and dirty jeans. (we were staying at the resort for our anniversary - we were hoping for a 'special' experience - sorely disappointed) Our waitress was inattentive and frankly just missing - we seemed to be the only table she was waiting on (you can see the entire room - there's no ambiance) and she would disappear for 30 minutes at a time, and never checked in again after she delivered our food, which was cold. We suffered through and got someone else to bring the bill - talk about a disappointing anniversary! read more

I'll start with complimenting our waitress. She seemed to truly care about our dissatisfaction. We ordered an appetizer of brussel sprouts. They were undercooked. My wife ordered a steak that was supposed to have bleu cheese on it. She ordered extra bleu cheeses because she loves it. There were 3 small pieces of it underneath the steak even though the menu lead you to believe it was topped with it. She ordered a medium rare doneness but it came medium well to well done, absolutely no red or pink in it. The accompaniment to the steak was a fingerling potato salad. It was a bunch of spinach leaves with a few raw fingerling potatoes. Maybe it's us, but we have never heard of serving raw potatoes. I had ordered the chicken that was stuffed with prosciutto and mozzarella cheese. Cheese? Not that found. I swapped dinners with my wife but she didn't care for the dry chicken. The only thing my wife cared for was the butter they serve withy he few small pieces of bread they bring you. It has sun dried tomatoes in it. We never send plates back to a kitchen in a restaurant. She had been a waitress for 26+ years and knows what happens to the food went it is sent back. Our waitress deducted the cost of the steak from the bill. Nope, won't eat there again when we stay at the Resort. read more
