I've been living at Altura at the Groves for almost three years now, and overall it's been a great place to call home. One of the biggest highlights has been the maintenance team, especially Jose. He always goes above and beyond. I've had the pleasure of seeing him in action, whether it's fixing my circuit breaker, clearing shower drain issues, replacing A/C filters, or handling other maintenance requests. He's always knowledgeable, professional, and gets the job done right. The property itself is clean, well maintained, and the grounds are kept looking nice. The only downside is that the parking costs can be a little steep. That said, the overall experience has been positive. Having respectful, chill neighbors is definitely a bonus, and thankfully I've never had any major issues during my time here. If you're looking for a well kept community with a reliable maintenance team, I'd definitely recommend Altura at the Groves. read more

The lobby, hallways, and elevators frequently smell like cigarette smoke, urine, And or dogs, making the building feel unclean and poorly maintained. I have lived at Altura for the past 3 years. I write this goodbye-review with tears in my eyes, as I am moving to be closer to my granddaughter, family and business . What I am leaving behind is: An extremely secure home (apartment), they use key-pods, not keys, it records everybody who opens a hall way door, any entrance or even the mail room. Cameras everywhere, guards cruise at night. And I'll miss the management group above all. Jake, Jeanette and the rest the team, they helped me with problems; when I lost the my key-pod, they generated another for me on the spot, when I lost the garage key, they got me another one, and so on. Love it here, we have been here for 3 years and the reason we have stayed here is because of everything Altura offers, the gym, clubhouse, business center and the onsite grills. The convenience of the different food places, the market and the rodeo being walking distance is also a plus. Our family really likes it here and the management team is amazing and always so helpful and the maintenance. I also love the fact that there is patrol at night and you feel very safe when coming home late at night. read more

I lived here for one full year and from the start the process was very seamless. The community stays relatively clean and I never had any neighbor issues. Jake in the front office was always extremely helpful and communicated very very well. He would set up community based events (holiday parties, yoga, magic shows) trying to bring renters together which is appreciated. My only complaint would be they are money hungry for everything. To replace a garage remote it's $150 dollars. I never lost it, the remote just simply stopped working normally even after I changed the battery more than once at my own convenience. Upon move out I was charged $200+ for my apartment being "very dirty" and I can assure you it was not. The major appliances and bathrooms had been cleaned well. The only thing I can see becoming a problem was my vacuum died on me halfway through while cleaning so I didn't get some dust but otherwise I'm not sure what they were expecting. With this, it cost approximately $700 dollars to move out of here. I should've made sure to take pictures of details but you live and learn. I can't really blame management for all the strict rules and constant reminder emails as that's more of a community issue on who they are allowing to live there but in order to have people at the pool or clubhouse you must again pay/reserve it. Management was nice but sometimes came off a bit too interested or friendly. I guess that's personal preference as well but being a younger female it can get uncomfortable. I'm not really sure if I can recommend living here to someone close to me but I wish my move out experience was better. read more

I love living here! I've been a resident for over 4 years and I still have nothing but positive things to say. My unit is modern and comfortable. From the in-unit laundry to the great insulation that keeps the already quiet community noise down and the energy bill down even with central air/heat. I am at times a homebody, so I truly cherish the in-unit living experience. The community also offers a complete gym, a business center to work out of, BBQ grills, a pool, and safe delivery room for my packages. All are kept working and maintained very clean. Around the community is a very safe neighborhood with security driving around all night, and the convenience of a supermarket, restaurants (From In n Out or Chipotle to more boutique restaurants at Rodeo 72), gym, and many other places. Lastly the staff here at Altura are truly the best of any apartment complex I have ever lived in. They are friendly, attentive, and caring. I cannot recommend it enough. read more

The four story building had no hot water last night. By the time I requested maintenance service, we all received an email saying the boilers were restored, and we would have water in an hour. I was able to shower last night. This is due to their maintenance person who lives on property and responds immediately. Can't get any better than this. read more

Very unethical management and extremely poor customer service. They often speak to residents as if they are opposing lawyers, frequently threatening to charge fees or take legal action over minor complaints or reasonable feedback. I have lived here for almost three years and ultimately decided to leave because of the management. They are very rude and seem to care more about money than residents' needs. It is not worth the price I am paying. They will look for ways to charge additional fees whenever possible, so please avoid this place and consider finding a better option. This is the worst customer service I have experienced out of all the apartments I have lived in. Especially the new manager, Laurie, and another manager, Jenette--they are extremely unfriendly and never give the impression that they are willing to help. Every interaction with them was stressful, and their behavior felt very unprofessional. There are many specific issues I could describe, but there are simply too many to list here, and honestly, it's not worth my time. This apartment complex may look amazing from the outside, and the location truly is great -- but don't let that deceive you. If you're looking for peace and a calm place to live, please avoid this place -- I wish someone had warned me. Living here was one of the most stressful and exhausting experiences my family and I have ever gone through. From the very beginning, we dealt with an extremely problematic downstairs neighbor. This person repeatedly harassed us, banged on our floors, blasted loud music all night, and made us feel unsafe in our own home. Things escalated to the point where I was physically assaulted -- something no tenant should ever have to experience. Throughout my entire time living here, I reported the harassment again and again. I sent police reports, security reports, and even attached videos showing just some of the constant verbal abuse I had to endure, along with the nonstop loud music. I had an entire year's worth of documentation. None of it mattered. To make things worse, the neighbors even harassed my wife while she was simply taking a walk with our newborn. And just like everything else we reported, management did nothing to help or protect us. After the assault, instead of supporting the victim -- me -- the management served me with a 3-day notice to vacate. When they sent the move-out statement, I explained everything again and provided all the evidence. They still didn't care. They only added even more charges, despite being the ones who forced me out under unsafe conditions. It was a year full of stress, fear, and complete lack of support. In the end, I was the one who was assaulted and pushed out of my home, while the person who assaulted me continued living there without any consequences. I would never recommend this apartment complex to anyone. Would give 0 stars if I could. read more

place is wack, overpriced, overrated, over congested. 2 bedroom 2 bath cost me 3700 not including parking, never in my life since leasing have i had to pay for parking. i got 2 garages each 75 bucks when i first moved in ,and then they decided to raise the price to 150 per garage!!! everything is broken here absolutely everything!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the fireplace didn't work for a entire a year!!! the lobby doors are always broken. the gates work when they decide to work!!!!!! what luxury???????????????????? i got my electric scooter stolen from my patio. don't let the community fool you. they let anyone live here with a credit score of 480 or higher... when it rains the building leaks in building 1!!!! and get this every entry door has those hydraulic where it slows down the door to close, but not one gate door on the perimeters of this community probably like 10-12 gate doors to enter the community dont have the fucking hydraulic installed soooo everytime someone leaves and if you live on the outside perimeter of the apts your hearing every slam and opening!!!!!!! dont move here.... idk why i leased here for this long!!! place is complete dog shit!!! i even refered my uncle.to live here with his wife and daughter!!!! and they lived on the first floor and on the otherside of the drywall are the garages well turns out one resident had a classic car and it was leaking gasoline and the gasoline smell travelled through the dwelling into my uncles apt... they even had to double check their ac unit because it was leaking and potential mold... you can live in orange county for almost 1000 dollars less and still have parking included wjth the oroginal rent amount!!!!!!!!! dooooogggggg shit its a far piece of dog shit!!!!!! read more

You know I wanted to love this place. It looked nice from the outside, and I really wanted to live in Whittier. Lived at Altura 2 years, from the get it was a nightmare. Jeanette made the move in process horrible. I was auto approved but couldn't get confirmation on a move in date, deposit amount, was told I'm "probably" good to go. It got to the point i requedted to speak with a manager. After move in was assigned a garage and several months later I go into my garage and see a paper posting I'm using the garage and it's not assigned to me and to leave ( I had paid 4 months at that point) I then login and see 4 months of garage rent added to my balance. Joke. Especially being that I paid for the space and they entered with no notice and placed that note. One of the attractions of the garage was the EV charging in there which lasted a solid 3 months I was there in which they then turned around and came in blocked off all electrical ports and suddenly said nobody can charge because EV chargers will be added soon. That was August 2024. They built the EV chargers more than a year later. When my lease renewal came up I requested Jeanette please send it to me asap so I can ensure it gets signed and taken care of. Come June she sends the lease agreement. I sign and am under the impression all is fine. Months later I get an additional 600 dollar charge for consecutive months. Upon looking Jeanette said there was a signature missing despite the form saying it was completed. No refunds, just pay the balance and that's the end of story. Then Lori the manager came in (they went through 4 different property managers since I got there). She was a nightmare and treated her job like an opposing lawyer/debt collector. 0 sincerity, just treated it like she was some collector. She's the worst of the bunch. When I decided to terminate lease early instead of looking for the actual reason as to why we're leaving she just starts immediately pressing about the fees and termination and I kid you not she calls me everyday leading up to the move out date threatening credit reporting, it being on my credit 7 years etc. Please do not move here; also some neighbors are questionable. Several strange folks. Would not recommend at all. read more

Lived here since October 2025 and I have lived in over a dozen rentals during undergraduate and graduate school for the last 10 years all over PA and CA never with problems like this. I should have known when things went awry from the beginning. I came in asking to see an apartment on the top floor in the building with the elevator and told them my budget. Jake at the front desk showed me two different apartments on the 2nd floor which were out of my budget, especially with all the added fees. I later called and they said there was availability for a $2830 which, with all the additional fees including parking, is over $3000 for a 1 bd 700sq ft unit. The sent the lease. It is an awkward copy of a 60 page lease in which a layperson wrote in unprofessional language. It says if they are not required to maintain the property, and if a resident injures themselves because of it, they are not liable. You are also forced to sign a false document saying the CDC requires masks in common areas.. I talked to Carlos Silva who had no idea what was in the lease, so I had to cite what the lease said to him. He said they could not write a more respectful version of the lease that was reasonable and contained true. Moving in, there's no place to park the moving truck except to block 4-5 garages. The one elevator is too small to hold a couch, so I had to pay extra to have movers take it up the stairs. The elevator take about 40 seconds to get from the first floor to the 1.5 floor. The residents all complain about it. Now it has been three months in, and I have never lived a day with a functioning washing machine or dishwasher. It took 3 or 4 visits to get the drying machine to stop ripping/ snagging my clothes. The washing machine won't make my cotton clothes wet, much less washed, and I work in a hospital where I see patients with resistant infections and C. diff... I have also not had one dishwasher cycle during which all the dishes came out clean, even if half the dishwasher is empty. Maintenance has come by over over 5 times but there is somtimes no reasonable attempt to fix anything; for example, I cleaned the filter before asking anyone to come by, and two separate visits were them only cleaning the clean filter. The maintenance supervisor made a suggestion and as unreasonable as it sounded, they did it anyways to show them it did nothing. They changed the filter in the building, and in my sink, but the dishes remain unusable, so I continue to hand wash everything again. Would not feed my family off these dishes. They also refuse to rent adjust despite not providing what they said was included in the apartment. Not enough parking for guests so my sister refuses to stay over because it causes her so much anxiety to think about having to find parking. There's no spare parking and the community energy is low, so people call tow trucks on each other all the time without trying to communicate first. Staff have low problem solving skills. Also, there's central air, but when it turns on, it is exactly as loud as a window unit. Whenever I've had issues in the past, which is not often, landlords have fixed them immediately, so I'm incredibly traumatized by this experience. This company has no integrity. I wish I'd never started looking at the lease, and would highly recommend even looking at the place. read more

After addressing my concerns to leasing agents and assistant manager about neighbors leaving their trash out in times when not designated over and over and over again. I still have the same issues. I have addressed my issues over 10 times and still nothing is handled. All the residents leave their trash outside their doors during undesignated hours and it's smelly, dirty, filthy and unsanitary. So if your a clean person I suggest you think twice about living in a place like this. read more

This review is well overdue. My husband, our 1.5 year old and I moved into a 3 bedroom apartment June 2023. After several extreme noise disturbances, several reports to the management office, several calls to security, a call to the local police department (mind you, the police department recognizing the apartment we were reporting when they arrived on site), we were moved out by October 2023. While the facilities are beautiful and the neighborhood is great, it quickly became unlivable when we were being woken up by screaming/shouting, sub bass and BLARING music multiple times a week, at all hours of the night. It started to cross the line when the noise would be so loud that it would get past a sound machine we had for our 1.5 year old, and completely disrupt our family's sleep, MULTIPLE TIMES A WEEK. A couple of the worst nights, they partied from 10pm to 9am STRAIGHT -- I'm all for having a good time and I was younger once, but this was just on another level of out of control. When your sleep gets disturbed the way it was, you start to feel like you are being tortured. Despite several attempts to talk to the disruptive neighbor ourselves, management trying to issues warnings and even the police handing out multiple citations (apparently we weren't the only ones escalating/reporting these rowdy residents) we realized these people just didn't care, and wouldn't stop. While we met some very sweet, courteous and respectful neighbors, the apartment we leased was in a part of the complex where a couple rude, loud, partying at all hours of the night residents, were disturbing our peace and making it unlivable for several of us -- and management just seemed to not be able to do anything about it. Despite having chosen this place because it markets itself as peaceful and quiet neighborhood (even with the pricier rent), it was anything but peaceful. While renting was always temporary for our family since we were passively looking for a home to purchase, we had ZERO intent of rushing or breaking out of our lease early. And while it can sound dramatic, we started to live in anxiety, and feel very stressed going to bed every night and realized that staying here was just not going to be an option-- again, since no one could seemed to be able to help make the noise stop during quiet hours. While part of me was tempted to take a more litigious approach when it came to parting ways with Altura, my husband and I made a decision to cut our losses, no strings attached, and prioritized getting out of there ASAP for our sanity and livelihood sake. My net/net perspective in describing this community: it is a mixed bag of relatively sensible and extremely unreasonable. In good faith, I CANNOT recommend this place to anyone. read more

My husband and I called for almost 2 weeks and finally someone called me back for a tour. I showed up to the tour and the unit I was shown was ridiculously small with a very non functional layout. I knew it was deal breaker when I was told we can pay $250 to rent out the club house and the garage would be $150 when other places are $100. That is insane! I toured the cierra and I will say the manager and the leasing agent were very helpful with answering questions. The layouts at cierra are bigger, and it's a beautiful complex and way more affordable. read more
