Speaking of meat products, I tend to limit my visits because the menu rarely changes and the ingredients, while sometimes fresh are mostly processed and lacking flavor. The favorite for me is breakfast, as you get the best flavors and most of the items are prepared fresh. I need to also say that lately they have started a Vegan section which I am just in awe of! Students consistently complain about the rising costs of the meals, which is absolutely true. You can get a much better meals at a fraction of the price outside of the campus walls, but when you are locked into a meal plan, that makes it much harder for students. For the average guest that comes to visit La Sierra, The Commons Dining Hall tends to be a new experience for them...especially if they are not used to vegetarian meals. The staff and kitchen are all student students of RCC. The service was generally good although a bit uneven. For example, we didn't bread at the start and they just never brought it despite realizing later. But everyone was very nice and you could tell they were trying hard. The menu is interesting and there is always a burger, pizza, and salad option. Other stuff rotates so that's what I tried. The trout was fine but nothing to write home about. The burger was also meh but serviceable. The Cuban bean soup I got with it was tasty but too salty. Desserts were both good (see photos). The ambiance is actually surprisingly nice. Well lit and most of the clientele are professionals out for lunch.
