Bucky and I made the drive to the HEB Plus and found the truck. Interestingly enough, they operate kinda like a drive-thru, but they accept walk-ups, too. Immediately after I pulled up, they saw Bucky and offered him a pup cup. I didn't even have to ask! The cooed and fawned over him as they saw him enjoy it in my back seat. For myself, I got the cortado and I asked for a recommendation. She suggested a Tres Leches cold brew with cinnamon. Right on - I went ahead and ordered it. The cortado was ver nice, with minimal paper cup flavor. It was smooth with a roasted flavor, and a nice, creamy viscosity. A pretty good, respectable cortado. The Tres Leches cold brew reminds me of merienda with my family in Brownsville, despite us usually not having cold coffee - haha. But the flavors were delicious. The coffee was strong, but still had that "flavored latte" taste I tend to enjoy on a hot day. That tres leches foam is truly a delight. If I lived closer, I'd probably be here every day they're open. However, now that I know that they're really good, I may have to make some frequent stops.

The train led me to Moe Jo's…read more It's true. It was my last day off from my vacation, and when I'm off and still in San Antonio, I try to support local. I wanted to visit Gold Coffee, because they recently reopened inside seating. I saw the elusive Moe Jo's Coffee truck and said to myself, "Oh! There they are!" And then the train. It was stalled on the tracks blocking the path to Gold Coffee. It didn't look like it was going to start moving any time soon and I really needed my coffee fix, dangit! So, like the impatient caffeine addicted she-beast that I am, I turned around and parked by Moe Jo's Coffee. They actually had a little tent set up with some picnic tables, and they had a respectable-sized menu of hot and iced treats. I ordered the iced dulce de leche latte (woo hoo for paper straws!) and a vegan papa ranchera kolache. The coffee came out first and it was GREAT! I absolutely loved it. 12/10, would order again and again. The kolache, on the other hand, ehh. I mean, the flavor was great, but it wasn't heated throughout evenly. The edges were piping hot, but the center of my kolache was still cold. Oof. But that's really the only drawback. Even if you're not being blocked by a train, I do recommend giving Moe Jo's a try. Their great service and excellent coffee are super pleasing, and I'm willing to give the kolaches a second go.
