Sadly, there are people in my family that have the poorest taste (literally). So, for special occasions like mother's day and birthdays, we come here with the family. I must say that I have decided to boycott any further family gatherings if they are held at AM Cafe. This place sucks!!!! After our last visit, I am now extremely concerned with the sanitation and cleanliness processes at this restaurant. They brought us two waters in cups that when you drink the water, it makes a your mouth feel dry. Upon further inspection, it appeared that the ice had little black dots frozen into it that, as the ice melted, left little black dots in the water. Gross. I suspect ice machine mold but I cannot prove it. Additionally, the food is not good, period. I've tried several different items on the menu hoping to find something palatable enough to prevent the boycott, but, alas nothing has wow'd me, or even brought me to a point where I'd say, okay, I'll keep coming here and only order this because it's acceptable. Literally, I'd rather eat McDonalds, and that's really sad. I've tried: Breakfast burrito (geasy) Chicken and waffles (both prepackaged) Corn cakes (regular buttermilk pancakes with freeze fried corn thrown in) Denver omelette (rubbery eggs, home fries are literally deep fried chunks of potato with separately cooked tiny little itty bitty pieces of onion and bell pepper none of which had any seasoning) Burger and fries (elementary school cafeteria makes better - can you serve a prepackaged then boiled hamburger patty? Apparently, yes you can.) Blueberry pancakes (pancakes tasteless, blueberry pie filling tastes like the can I believe it comes in) Overall, I've given this place enough tries. Ok I wish I could customize my rating a little more because I definitely feel this place is more like a 4.5. The farmhouse vibe with chickens everywhere is really cool to look at. (No real chickens but lots of chicken decor) lol our overall experience was great. Especially with the great customer service we received from all the staff there. It is a self seating cafe which is cool because you grab your menus at the door and walk right in and find a spot you like. You get basic coffee which is fine sometimes it's nice to just have regular coffee and not all the Starbucks stuff. My husband had the regular coffee black. I had the Swiss mocha coffee which had creamer and whipped cream and chocolate sauce which was great for me since I do like my coffee with creamer and a bit on the sweeter side. The food overall was delicious. My only cons here are that I ordered steak and eggs medium for both the steak and eggs and got a fully cooked steak and sunny side up eggs. The steak was a bit tough and dry since it was well done. But I accepted the plate and continued to eat it since normally thats how I would order it but wanted to try something new. I had a side of hash browns and biscuits and gravy along with it and it was all delicious. My husband had an omelette and he enjoyed it with country potatoes and banana walnut bread and he ate it all!! lol my husband is a picky eater so it's definitely nice to find places he is willing to come back to and this made the list. It gives you a nice little town vibe it's not going to knock your socks off and wow you but it's going to be comforting and fulfilling. You definitely get a wholesome vibe here especially when you see how the staff interacts with each other and their patrons. I will never eat here again. My crepes were like rubber in my mouth. My country fried steak was tasteless and dry to boot. The food tasted like it had been sitting out and the pancakes were stale to match that theory. I ate here yesterday for the first time. My food was great and so was my server. What I really didn't like was the supervisor belittling my server because she stopped to get a sip of water and acting like she was a slacker in front of the entire restaurant. The service was pretty slow taking into consideration that there was only 4 tables occupied. The interior decor was really creepy. The entire place was crammed packed with roosters. It was most definitely a rooster themed layout. It looks like it used to be a cheesy Mexican restaurant turned cafe. A meal for two ran $25 with tip. For the customer: The blueberry pancakes were delicious and the home fries were good too. I would personally skip on the coffee. It tasted pretty old and we only got it refilled once. We ordered sunny side up eggs and were pretty displeased, overlooked on the bottom, under on top. For the business: Don't bring the check until the customer is done eating. We got ours half way through the meal. It makes the customer feel rushed and unappreciated. Also, when you cook sunny side up eggs, start with a hot stove, crack the egg, lower the temp and cover it...the steam will cook it nicely and you won't overlook the bottom or the yolk. Overall, I like the price and the pancakes, but this wouldn't be my top choice for breakfast in the AV. read more

Normally I wouldn't even do a review. The service here was unacceptable. People are handling money and going straight to cook without washing their hands. Guy at the front told me that they had to recook my food due to my pancakes being wrong and still made them wrong. Then had the nerve to get upset when I asked for ketchup and syrup and then threw all of my food in the bag. Honestly I'm not coming here again. OMG where have you been all my life? Absolutely delicious! The banana walnut pancakes were so fluffy and moist with banana both inside and outside. I ate some for breakfast and the rest for dessert! Thank you for accommodating our group of 15 people on Sunday morning! It just happened to be soccer and softball playoffs that weekend also and a group of 30 showed up before us. They have such a diverse menu (something for everybody!!) and everything is outrageously delicious! My husband's favorite is the pot roast omelette and plain crêpes with butter and powdered sugar (I love them too!) As you drive by the AM Cafe, unless you know it's there, you won't see it. In the parking lot, you might wonder why in the world you came here. However, upon entering you find a beautiful interior and smiling faces to seat you. The menu is full of wonderful, stick to the ribs choices. Everything we (wife and I) have had there is far beyond expectations. The portions are so large that you will ask for a box to take some home. Oh yes, it's great the next day too.. The owner doesn't care to keep it cool the last hour in the summer or warm in the last hour in the winter. It appears that way. They made sure we were good and they were very friendly. 5/5 Food: Had great taste! I had the chorizo burrito, the only thing that disappointed was the lack of chorizo.
