I was excited to try this place as it is close to my home. Unfortunately I ignored a previous wanting from A neighbor, who told me she did not recommend it as she and her family didn't like the food or service, but in our search for a close italain place we decided to try it anyways, as we know sometimes a place can have an off night. The hostess wasn't very friendly or welcoming, but she wasn't rude, so we just chaulked that up to her young age. The place is super small, about 10 tables and reservations are suggested. We didn't know, so didn't mind waiting the 20 minutes quoted. But you have to wait outside as they have no area to stand. So we waitedin the car, and 35 minutes later we got the call a table is ready. I went to the bathroom to wash up, and that was my first redflag as the bathroom was filthy. Dirty surfaces, trash on the floor, an unfluahed clogged toilet and the TP roll on the floor. When I got back to our table, I had to ask one of the waiters to wipe the food off my chair before I could sit down. Our server was nice enough, but lacked service in the sense she wasn't welcoming, and didn't check on us, refill waters, or thank us at the end. We were party of 3 adults, and each ordered a meal, 2 appetizers and a water and 2 lemonades. We got two waters and one lemonade instead, but my son decided to just keep the water and not say anything as the wait staff all seemed very stressed and rushed and he didn't want to bother to correct our server. Our appetizers, salad and food all came out at the same time, which made you feel rushed as again, this is a tiny place with little room for people or servers to move between tables and we'd rather enjoy each item in stages. I asked for no onions in my salad, and there were onions, so I didn't eat that. My son's each ate theirs and said the dressing was very fishy tasting which was odd for an Italian dressing and not a cesarr dressing, and that the greens were wilted and the beans mushy. So not enjoyable. I asked ahead before we ordered the calamiari if the spicy component listed was in the batter or sprinkled on as I can't tolerate spices, and she said it's a sauce that's on the side. But my first bite was a friend jalapeno and that sent me into a coughing fit and I then noticed that all the fried rings are a mix of the calmiara and bits of fried jalapeno, so another item I couldn't eat, and a painful experience for me as that was a harsh bite for someone with a spice intolerance. I asked 2 people for a water refill and it took the third ask to get it. We also ordered the mushroom garlic bread, and although I see how this would've been good in theory, they missed the mark as the bread was under baked and drenched in the oil and mushy and messy. Our meals arrived and NONE were enjoyable! The one thing that madeit even hard to eat and not look asappealing is they use the smallest salad plates for the meal and you have some of it spilling off the sides and no room to swirl your food to eat, and oil drips with every move , so bigger plates are a must. The linguine with clams, not only had no noticeable clams or clam pieces, but was saltier than McDonald's fries! Which if this were fries it would be okay! But to salt that dish was a shame as it ruined it! Seasoning would've been okay but, as weeach took a bite at my son's insistence to see if it were just his taste buds or not, we all luterky gagged at the level of salt in this, and the lack of clams. We asked for a lot of lemons, to help counter the salt so he could try to eat his dish and we got 4 tiny chopped slices which made no Difference or help to that dish. My shrimp scampi consisted of 4 small shrimps, which ironically were cold even though the pasta was hot. Expecting more shrimp was aet down, but they were cold and rubbery anyways and the scampi sauce had zero flavour and was more just oil in the pound of pasta under my 4 shrimp. I did not enoy this dish! The last dish of shrimp Alfredo came out as chicken Alfredo, and again my son didn't correct the server as he was hungry and overall just wanted to get through the meal and leave. Sadly his Alfredo sauce was very gummy and sticky and also salted so he optedoit of enjoying parmesan cheese on it as that would make it even saltier. All in all our bill was $150, which was about $100 more than this was worth , and that's being generous! We would not eat here again, and like our neighbors, we will be sure to stand by not recommending it. read more

I came for the Fat Baby, and it did not disappoint! Found the infamous Fat Baby on Instagram and had to try it. It's off the strip about 15 minutes, but you better plan to make the drive. Ordered the fettuccini Alfredo Fat Baby and the spaghetti and meatball one. They come in a GIANT garlic and parm seasoned hoagie that is crispy outside and so soft inside. They shove it full of delicious pasta and drizzle a hearty portion of cheese over top. So good, it will make you slap your pappy and scream "yee haw!" I went there on a Tuesday with my daughter it was maybe a 10 minute wait, I was a bit shocked with a wait but it was definitely worth it. We got a chicken Alfredo fat baby to share and salad and garlic bread. My husband and I have been wanting to try Amano for a long time to experience their viral Fat Baby's. We finally made the stop during our last visit to Las Vegas a few weeks ago and it didn't disappoint. Rich, delicious, pasta goodness; each of our Fat Babies exceeded our expectations. Service was friendly and attentive. A very positive and memorable first visit. Amano is located off of the Las Vegas strip, so if you're also hoping to stop by and are staying on The Strip, know this is not a place you can get to by foot. The establishment is located in a small strip mall with free parking shared among the other businesses. They have an intimate dining area with full table service offered for customers wanting to dine in. The space is cozy, so I can see them getting busy for sit down orders during peak days and meal times. Their menu offers several Italian dishes from pizzas, pastas, subs, and speciality entrees, but what seems to draw many tourists in are their viral Fat Babies and Pizza Babies. We came in on a weekday for lunch and all of the patrons dining in were trying these items, all with a smile and super impressed. Our order consisted of: - Garlic Knots for an appetizer - Fettuccine Alfredo w/ chicken Fat Baby - The Fuhgeddaboudit Fat Baby Everything was superb and cooked to perfection. The garlic knots were soft, flavorful, and a little doughy. Not overcooked at all. The two Fat Babies were extra large in size, with soft, but firm bread to hold up a gigantic serving of pasta with its accompanying contents. I tried the Fettuccine Alfredo Fat Baby and the sauce was creamy, delicious, and coated the pasta and chicken inside perfectly. The serving size was massive. Honestly, my husband and I could have shared one and still be satisfied. Although I didn't try it, my husband also loved his Fuhgeddaboudit Fat Baby. We highly recommend either Fat Baby we ordered and each had leftovers for multiple meals once we got home. Amano was worth the trek for us and definitely a place we would revisit again when we're in town and have our own vehicle. This was our first time visiting Amano, and unfortunately the experience was very uncomfortable. When my family and I walked in, several staff members just stared at us, which made us feel judged and unwelcome. We didn't realize reservations were required through Yelp, but the person who explained this to us was fine and even gave us the option to order takeout, which we appreciated. However, the rest of the staff had very unfriendly attitudes while we were ordering--no smiles, no warmth, just uncomfortable looks. First impressions matter, especially for new customers. Even if someone doesn't have a reservation, basic kindness and professionalism should still be shown. Because of how we were treated, we don't plan on returning. read more

The reviewers aren't kidding, this place is small. We were in the mood for a calzone so I drove up and ordered takeout. I'd have preferred to order by phone, but when I called it rang and nobody answered. It is a tad awkward to order takeout, there's really no place to wait, and they're certainly not going to give you a table when folks are waiting for one. Anyway, I placed my order with a very nice and helpful young man, and waited in my car. They were busy so it took a while to get the food, but it wasn't crazy long. I ordered the calzone with sausage, a Caesar salad and tiramisu. Everything was excellent. Sadly, I managed to knock over the container of red sauce inside the calzone box, but I was able to salvage most of it. Next time I'll ask for extra. I had the Fettuccine Carbonara (not pictured), it was bursting with flavor, and definitely shareable, had a lot left over.
