Went there for restaurant week tonight. Looks like they are still working out the kinks at the new place. Waited for an hour before getting served. Luckily we weren't in a my hurry and had a good chat with our dinner mates. The food is authentically Peruvian so that's very good. I had the ceviche, steak bites and flan combination. My dinner companion had the potatoes, seafood mix, cookies combination. We thought the be dishes were all flavorful and good. One thing we noted is the amount of potatoes on each of our main dish. It was more than the meat portion. We could do with less potatoes. Still a place I would recommend. Not that these are the restaurant week's menu. Will return to try their regular menu. read more

Ive been wanting to try Amar Peru so I was happy to see the restaurant on the Restaurant Week list and made a dinner reservation. The restaurant has a nice interior and ambiance. We decided to do the $50 menu and ordered the ceviche, yuca, lomo andino, paella, and cinco leches. The orders came out at a good pace, although the restaurant was packed. Everything tasted pretty good, the lomo was okay. One thing that could have been better was the temperature of some of the food. The yuca and lomo was lukewarm. I stopped by for lunch on a week day. Lunch menu prices were reasonable. Chaufa was my favorite item. Fried rice was flavorful, though slightly salty for me. Chicken had decent flavor. Fried plantain was way too ripe though. read more

My husband and I shared the Truffle Yuca Fries and Paella, which were delicious and satisfying. The ambiance of the restaurant is very pleasant, nicely decorated. The staff is very attentive and you'll be welcomed with smiles all around. We stopped on the way back from Taliesin East to Madison on our vacation/work trip. Found this place on Yelp listed as Amar Peru but its name is Pikkoto. So it can be confusing. One thing is very clear however! It's fantastic. We've eaten a many Peruvian restaurants in the area and further. This is our new favorite. From the complimentary small portion of Aguadito soup (so good we ordered a big container to go), to the Chaufa Pork, Rotisserie Chicken with Cilantro Rice and the Pisco Sour - everything was fabulously full of flavor. Simply the best food in Madison. Forget burgers try their creole bowl or tropical, all complete with amazing made plantains, the way they should be. As a latina, this is by far the best food I had since moving to Madison. Seems like cooked by my grandma back home. Brings me joy. Brings me almost to the kitchen to salute the chef. I went to AmarPeru for lunch today with a friend. We tried the Limo Saltado and Aji de Gallina, both were delicious. The beef was incredibly tender, served on a bed of fries. The chicken was also tender and well spiced. The service was great and we loved the little bowl of fried plantain and corn kernels to start the meal. read more

This place truly is a gem in Middleton. I've been a fan of Pikkito since they opened and opted to go out here with some girlfriends. The ambience here is just lovely, you feel transported to another world with beautiful photos and artwork from Peru. It is also done tastefully so it makes for a very nice upscale dining experience. The dishes were GORGEOUS, every single one was artfully presented with lots of color and texture and the flavors were just as good as everything looked. So many unique but approachable flavors. We tried a lot: ceviche mixta had so many layers of flavor, the cold potato appetizer with chicken salad was so pretty and delicious, the octopus was fantastic. We tried a slow roasted beef and the seafood paella, both delicious. The tres leches was amazing, light and airy and not too sticky sweet. Prices were good for the quality and portions. We talked to the owner who said she wanted to be able to share the culture and food of Peru with people here and it truly was such a wonderful experience. Can't wait to come back. read more

Delicious, fresh and filling. Went to this place for lunch looking for Amar Peru, on Junction Rd, but the door said Pikkito. No matter, the food was great and so was the service. They offer free soup to begin, which was a yummy green broth soup with tender meat and potatoes. I tried the Chaufa which were small pork medallions with a nice crusty outside but super tender insides served with excellent fried rice and plantains plus some yogurt / cilantro sauce on the side. I went with two sons to celebrate a birthday. Food was delicious. Service was very attentive. We ordered a chicken dish, a pork dish, and paella. All three came with rice which was flavored wonderfully. In fact, I thought the rice was the best part of all the fabulous dishes--they all tasted different and was a party in my mouth. Everyone with me ordered something different (SECO NORTEÑO, CHAUFA and MARISCADA) and all were pleased with their food, saying they would order it again. I don't even know where to start! First off, I moved in from NJ recently and been asking locals around for a Peruvian restaurant nearby in Madison, and multiple people have told me about Amar Peru! Well today was the day I took them up on that, and it was by far one of my best decisions since coming to town! 10/10 recommendation through & through. The second I walked in, I was pleasantly surprised by the decor and energy leading to where you normally wait to get seated, and since we came early in the afternoon, we were able to seated rather quickly. Ambience was great and the attention to detail was well executed from decor, to silver and plate ware. Our drinks were extremely fresh and made me feel like I was on an island, the mango margarita had a grip on me and I couldn't stop smiling. At this point I'm so exited for my food, and as it arrived I was taken back by the amount of flavor per bite of our appetizer the Trio De Causas Amarperu! Didn't even have my main course out yet and I wanted to order another! Delish! Then our main course arrived Lomo Saltado and Chaufa and I knew I had to take some pictures, because this was going to get review-worthy. Quality and explosive flavor in EVERY bite of food, and sip of our drinks, and excellent attitude and hospitality from our host. Not to mention a last minute dessert! I am not a fan of Flan, nor cheesecake because of the textures, however the flan served to us was truely an experience worth having!
