I love Amar Pizza! I occasionally fill in for a friend down the street from it, and it's reliably delicious and has amazing nontraditional pizza toppings. The ghost pepper pizza is just the right amount of spicy, but I'm one of those weirdoes who like pineapple, so I like doctoring the tandoori chicken with a little pineapple and extra vegetables. They're super fast and super chill about weird customization requests. I've even attended a birthday that someone catered solely with Amar Pizza orders, on the fly. I really love this place. Not only is the pizza unique and so good but the service is the best. I've come here a few times over the years and the guys in the front are always really warm and on top of their customer service game. The last time I was there, I brought my young niece, nephew and mom. We decided to eat there so they turned on Netflix for us (my nephew requested Paw Patrol) and brought all of our plates/cups/drinks/food from behind the glass. It was the owner's son - thank you! "Amar pizza is your pizza" - love the sentiment, but I do not feel as much love for the pizza. It is super cool to see my Bengali brethren branching out of their element with some creativity. The place is super spartan, but they do have done in and accept credit cards. The place had a steady stream of mostly desi patrons, even as we were approaching closing time. We went with the Detroit-style Tandoori pizza and split a Tandoori hot dog. Both were topped with the same creamy Tandoori sauce. This half Sylheti girl had to stop here and get a couple of pies on my way home to Chicago. We got a half naga/half spicy beef and half ghost/half chicken tandoori. They were AMAZING! So well seasoned and packed with fresh ingredients and plenty spicy. Though I'm not going to lie, it's even better with a little more Mr Naga oil from the pickle jar drizzled on top to make it extra extra extra spicy. I wish you guys would open a branch in Chicago because your pizza is crave worthy. My whole family might join me on the next road trip! Their pizza used to have a lot of taste when they first opened up but now everything went down. I have to use ranch for ever bite. The price went up and their portion went down. SUPERRRRR BUMMMMEDDD OUTTTT Ordered two small pizza's (at $10 a piece) one was regular pepperoni and cheese other was tandoori pizza..told us 30 minutes on phone, got there late, at about 35 mins and proceeded to have to wait another 35-40 minutes!!!!!!!!!!!! People were calling and ordering and the guy answering phone was still telling them only 30 minutes (not sure if just trying to get customers..would assume so instead of just being honest) so yeah, waited and waited along with many others and only being offered a free can of pop or water for the inconvenience ..hey thanks..probably should have gotten a free pizza but having to wait sooooo long..we had baby in car and super annoyed fiancé...finally after the 40 minutes of waiting inside, I was going to ask for my money back but then the guy came out with our small a pizza's..so just got out of there asap..super disappointed after tasting the pizzas..dough was super dry and not enough sauce or toppings at all.....totally not the same recipe as I've hard previously..on the tandoori chicken pizza, again barely any sauce and chicken pieces were so huge I had to cut them up myself...after waiting over an hour and the pizza's lacking flavor and toppings and at the price..will not be back...I know they had a help wanted sign but it was just unacceptable..used to be my spot..gotta find a new joint now read more

This place has no professional work ethic. They put employees on the phone who can't even speak English to take your order right. Generally I am a healthy guy, but Amar Pizza seriously makes me consider a life of fatness. My love for their pizza can only be classed as an addition. Got hyped up for their Ghost Pizza, it wasn't as spicy as I hoped. I find these days that unless a place makes you sign a waiver, no matter what they say, the shit isn't spicy. Still, their ghost sauce is a nice, tangy alternative to the regular pizza sauce. Highlight by far is their spinach pizza. read more

There is no way in the world i would rate this spot any less than five stars. It's half impossible to get decent pizza in the north side of Detroit, let alone tandoori chicken pizza. I sometimes question my fellow yelpers opinions. and in this case this is one of them. First of all, when you arrive to pick up your order, the owner slides your pizzas up and opens the boxes for you to examine them and get your approval. Second, this might possibly be the dankest pizza around the city limits, (no dis suppinos.) The crust on the square is thick and crunchy to the bite, the various sauces are unusual and their flavors translate well to pizza. The spice pizza has spicy ground beef, green chili, cheese, onions and cilantro. WHAT cilantro? Hell yes. The round holds up to the weight of a pile of toppings. We got the spinach and feta round and were very pleased to see a golden brown crust with a sea of spinach and feta. Not only is it a super food value, but it's not your run of the mill hot and sweaty pizza. I do admit that they could use better quality meats and cheeses, and the thin crust isn't all that amazing. However, the spice, spinach, naga, and meat pile pizza round or square is the real deal. I also give them props for quick and hot delivery. This has to be one of the best carry out places ever. I live in canton and make the 45 min drive to pick up food from here. I don't normally like pizzas but theirs are fantastic. What I absolutely love is their non pizza items. I had the chicken tikka hot dog, and ghost pepper dog. Both had amazing flavors!! Fortunately, the food outpaces the atmosphere/service here. I had attempted to stop by a few days ago but nobody was at the window to take my order. I rang the bell...and nothing. So I left. Today, I called in my order and went to pick it up. Again, nobody at the window even after ringing the bell twice. So I pulled my phone out and called them, and when they picked up I said "Hi, I'm here to pick up my order". The guy came out from the back, slid the pizza under the bulletproof glass, relieved me of my $15 and sent me on my way. Very weird process. More importantly, the food was pretty good. I opted for a large round Naga Pizza. I've got a pretty solid tolerance for spicy foods and handled this easily. There was definitely some build-up and while I was eating the third slice you could feel the heat nicely. All in all, the pizza was worth it. The crust is lacking that special crispiness that is hard to get without a commercial oven. Ghost pepper pizza was fine, but nothing I'd go out of my way to eat again. After reading the rave reviews, finally decided to give Amar Pizza a try. As others have said, it's just a little place on the border of Detroit and Hamtramck. We ordered the naga pizza with the "regular" crust. It was very good. The crust had a little chew to it and they were generous with the toppings. It had great flavors but we would have preferred a little more heat so next time would probably order the ghost pizza. Its not the cheapest place around ($11 for a small) but we thought it was worthy of the praise and will return. read more

I really love this place. The cheese bread is unreal. Like a cheese pizza without sauce. Comes with ranch or pizza sauce for dipping but we get both. We always get the square pizzas (Detroit style!). Our favorite is the tandoori pizza. Wz always get Naga sauce for dipping. It's like pizza sauce but with scotch bonnet pepper in it- in other words it's pretty spicy. Probably the best pizza I ever had. Their crust, toppings, the dressing oil and everything else is just perfect. This pizza has a distinct Deshi flavor that stands out. They probably use olive oil, and some good dairy product that taste pretty genuine. They are halal, but unlike many other halal ones, they do not depend only on meat. In fact, their veggie pizzas can be compared to other very high-class pizza stores, such as the Motor City. A gem in hamtrammk that you need to try today. read more
