If you want good service, before you walk in, make sure you have money present or better yet clip some money onto your body to show the owner you have money otherwise you will be treated like garbage. The owner is not only rude but very unknowledged about the products he sells. He claims Amazing Adventure 11, which is 1st appearance of Beast with Fur, is Wolverine. What the heck! This guy does not know comics. Try dealing with him via craigslist or his eBay, you will get the same service as if you were in his store. I can't wait until his shop goes bankrupt and his wife has to dance on that pole at Rick's. I wouldn't even pay money to see his wife dance at Rick's. And don't sell anything to him. He will low ball offer you. He will complain to you that he has to make a return. Yup a 250% ROI. He won't pay you in cash, he will only pay in a check. Although it's been a few months since my last visit (work and moving can do that to you), every time I have visited Amazing Heroes I've left with a great lasting impression. For a vintage/retro games enthusiast and collector, like myself, the first thing we always do is cross-check prices with known sources (such as online auction sites). The prices at Amazing Heroes are very competetive, and the selection (though, due to its nature, rotates) is quite vast. The owner is very knowledgeable and won't hesitate to talk to you about any game you've got your eye on. For some of the rarer gems that you might be on the fence about spending a bit extra for, there's nothing like a well versed real gamer to convince you of its virtues. Even if a game is a little more than it averages at an auction site, being able to actually talk about a game with a person, face to face, and being able to hold the game in hand and see its condition before you buy is well worth the premium. Amazingly enough, however, most games are priced at what you'd expect, so it really can be a no-brainer most of the time. I plan on paying a visit again, very soon, once I'm all settled at my new place. I am devoting an area of the house to my retro gaming addiction. :) read more

I stopped into Amazing Heroes today looking for some Sega Genesis games, expecting to sort through a few copies of Sonic and Madden '94 and leave with empty hands. What I found was a huge selection games for Genesis, Master System, and all of the other retro systems. This store has more Master System, Genesis, and NES games than any of the other Seattle-area retro stores, and I've been to them all. Some of the prices were lower than expected, some higher, but overall fairly priced when compared to the other stores. If you're looking for a rare game for your retro system, please do check them out. I ended up walking out with 3 semi-rare Master System games CIB and a Genesis version of Star Control CIB for under $60, which isn't bad at all. I've read some of the other reviews below, and I can't speak on the prices for the non-video game items, nor about the owner's knowledge of the industry. I was greeted by a smile and hello from the owners as I walked in, friendly service, and a thanks on the way out. Do not ever sell anything to this store. No one goes into here expecting that they are going to get anything close to retail price for anything they trade in. Everything this store buys is going to be resold. However, I have never seen someone so vigorously try to bully children out of their money. I've seen this on three separate occasions. One was with a kid who came in with his parents. The kid had no idea what he was trading in, but you could tell the parent did and that these items probably once belonged to him. The father walked away to look at the store. The person approached the kid, who did not appear to be the one in charge of this exchange, offered them $20 for what was a box of likely $2k worth of vintage gi joes an heman figures. When the kid said he needed to ask his dad the person behind the counter said that the offer was off the table and that he was going to have to go down to ten. The kid began looking concerned and asked the man to reconsider. Fortunately the man came back and the son told him what happened. The owner denied it but the man was furious and left. The last time was when a boy came in by himself with a similar high value exchange. This time the boy was about 13. This time the person offered him ten and when the boy refused the man went off on him, ranting about how he doesnt understand that not everything has value and that he was doing him a favor by even giving him money for that (this box did have value and lots of it). The person said he would give him one more shot and made his offer again and told him that if he was unreasonable he could leave his store. I wish I had intervened, I really do, but fortunately a better citizen intervened and told the terrified boy that his parents were waiting for him outside and left with him to give the kid an out. I left too and I haven't been back. Only wrote this review after hearing a friend talk about a similar experience that happened right before the store closed for quarantine. I truly hope that a lot of small businesses survive covid, but also that this isn't one of them. read more

I do NOT recommend this store. 3 Big reasons 1. The guy or owner is rude. I called to check on item and he was unwilling to look for the item in the store. Like he was too busy when there are no customers at all in the store. 2. Dishonest - I called the store two weeks ago and spoke to the guy about getting a price quote on an item, when I went to the store to purchase the item he raised the price $10. I was a little shocked. 3. Unwilling to negotiate - I tried to negotiate with him for the price he quoted and he was unwilling to negotiate at all. After reading many of the other negative reviews about how unstable the owner Tyson is, I'm not surprised that my interaction with him was the same way. The guy is rude and a fraud. "I was interested in purchasing a comic book from him that he was selling on his eBay store. He has something called "Make an offer" on his auction listings so I made an offer of $40 on a $45 item. No response to my offer for 2 days. I send him a message though eBay asking him to respond to the offer. He rejects the offer instead of countering it, and then puts me on his block list. Emailed the seller and no response. Why do you even bother having "Make an Offer" on your listings if you are not even willing to negotiate a $5 difference. This guy is rude and a scumbag. Never heard of a seller blocking a buyer cause they want to buy their merchandise. Next time, don't include make an offer if your completely unwilling to negotiate." I take this comment and I place it on his Facebook page. His response is absolutely disgusting and appalling. He stated "we blocked this buyer because they have left an excessive amount of negatives for other sellers on eBay. Clearly a problem buyer which they have only reinforced with these comments." Apparently Tyson developed a strategy to keep his feedback up. Whenever someone makes an offer on one of his items, he checks to see what kind of feedback they left other sellers and if he feels there is a remote chance that they might leave him negative feedback (you know cause he's rude and a jerk) he blocks the person from buying his merchandise. 1st off, I only leave negative feedback on purchases if it is advertised a certain way and what arrives is not even close to the condition it was stated to be in. 2nd, that's how you handle your business? You pick and chose which customers you allow to buy from you so your feedback isn't at risk? I guess you don't want to get a negative review if you sell something that's not accurately described or if you are rude to the customer, which you seem to have a hard time not doing. He manipulates his feedback by selecting customers that only leave positive feedback. There is no such thing a problem buyer, only problem sellers, like you. A buyer is only responsibility to pay you for the merchandise; your responsibility goes much further. If you are rude, or you provide misstatements in your description or you don't communicate with your customer or if you don't ship in a timely manner, then a negative review is warranted. Something you should know as a business owner. You seem to have been too focused on the fact that I had several negative reviews for others sellers than what the feedback actually stated or out of how many transactions I did. None of which should ever be a factor in buying from you. Bottom line is this is not a ethical way to do business, you selectively choose your customers based on what feedback they leave other buyers which I have no doubt you do to manipulate your own feedback. If you are going to pick and chose which customers you will sell to, you will be out of business before you know it, which is honestly something I hope to see. You may not have wanted my feedback on eBay, but you now got it on here and on your Facebook page and it's a lot more than the 140 characters that eBay allows. I went here for some SNES & N64 games and an original used SNES in good condition, so I can't speak for other selections of comics and such. Pros: -Good selection of SNES & N64 games -That's about it. Cons: -I'm pretty sure I had a better conversation with the tree outside than with the owner and his wife. -I asked for a good condition used SNES. He took one that looked like it had been soaked in urine for months. I understand that the original SNES were subject to UV yellowing, but I was not going to pay the same price if I can get a better looking one. He came with another "better" looking one. They "guarantee" all their systems to work. This was not the case for me. I took it home, plugged it in, and turned it on. While it loaded all my games, only about half of them made it past the main menu before freezing. They tried to blame the games that I had. My games were recently cleaned and worked just fine on a friend's SNES less than a week ago. Also, the reset button was broken. This is a great example of how well they test their stuff: not much at all. I took the system back. They took it back to test it out. I watched them this whole time and they only tested it on one game. They tried to sell me the same yellow POS they had originally tried. They finally got one that looked fine and had a working reset button. Took it home and all my games worked flawlessly. I've known Tysan for a while. He's a fair and straightforward guy who knows his stuff. His selection of toys and classic games is the best in the area. From common vintage video games to rare and high-end classic collectables his store is a fantastic place! He prices his items fairly, and when he buys collections he's no nonsense - he'll give a good price for rare stuff, and for the common stuff he'll often pass. Tysan knows what he has or knows where to get it - don't expect to find some hidden deals in a pile of junk, but by the same token he doesn't gouge you on rare items just because he has them. I read the reviews before visiting this establishment to buy a Christmas gift. I have to admit, I was nervous, but they were the only location I could find that had the gift I needed to buy. The reviews below state that the owners are lacking in personality, rude, racist, and prejudice against women (particularly those with small children). I am a woman with a bi-racial child, and we could not have had a more pleasant shopping experience. I interacted with both the husband and wife (and I should note they had their own small child in the store). Both were very friendly and helpful, the husband offering to help me carry items when my hands were full; the wife later offering assistance and helping me find my perfect gift. I did not feel unwanted, I did not feel ripped off (actually, the prices here are shockingly low), and I certainly did not feel that ownership is lacking in personality. The owner and his wife acknowledge nobody in the store, and if you ask them any questions they will respond rudely and make you feel uncomfortable. I love this place!! Tyson is absolutely a great toy peddler. he is knowledgable and passionate about Transformers,Star Wars,Gi Joe, video games and video game systems, action figures from Marvel to DC as well as some of the lesser known toy lines. He is polite and very reasonable. His pricing is second to none and if you are looking for a gently used item to a Mint c9+ original vintage toy he will have it in stock or know how to get it in stock. he has one of the widest selections of boy related toys and has a great location. Parking has never been a problem. he is quick to shake your hand if you extend it and I have always felt that every time I come there I feel like a well taken care of consumer. lastly he lets you browse his store without feeling like you have to buy anything. he is never right over your shoulder but he is always within range for a question or two. Called to ask about the price of two comics... Said I was near Fort Lewis which was about 40 miles away. (80 mile round trip) They posted a comic book online and I called to ask about the price. They said I would have to come in. I reiterated that It is a long drive just to find out If the price was satisfactory. Finally, after PLEADING for a price they said $150 and up. So I've been to the store quite a few times despite the horrible customer service i spent a decent amount of money on nostalgic toys. While they do have a great selection of of retro toys I just can't get over the shitty service. The woman when I've dealt with her was always decently friendly with me and would thank me for coming in, but the guy is an actual live version of "comic book guy" from the Simpsons. He acts like your business is an inconvenience to him every time you're there. I once waited at the counter with merchandise for close to five minutes before he got off his ass to check me out, and when I asked if he had one of the figurines I was looking for he replied"did you not see it over there, no. Then I don't have it" oh, I thought you might have had some in the back, do you know when you'll have more."no". Every time I've had an exchange with him I've always just felt like he was needlessly rude. The first few times I looked past because I thought maybe he might have been busy or just having a bad day. I also can understand running a store like that will bring in a lot of people that would endlessly browse reliving childhood moments and such. But After about the sixth time I went in there to buy things and was treated rudely for about the fifth time I was pretty much done. He genuinely acts like he hates it there and either Dosent care to talk to you or just Dosent have the knowledge on his merchandise. ( probably a combination of both). I am one of Mr. James eBay victims. He bought my issue of Batman Adventures #12, which I stated in the comics description, was in fair condition. Well when he got the comic and he realized he could not make a ton of money on it, he claimed to eBay that the comic arrived damaged because I didn't package it properly; that I shipped it in a paper envelope. I did ship the comic in a paper envelope, right after I double back-boarded it, bagged it, encased it in bubble wrap, and sandwiched it between two pieces of shipping quality cardboard. He lied to eBay about how I shipped the item, took pictures of a thorn to shreds envelope, and demanded a refund. Because he knows the eBay loop-holes, he easily won the case. So I had to go through this whole hassle of refunding this jerks money, and paying to have it shipped back to me, all the while getting my first negative review on eBay. Oh, and one reason Amazing Heroes has such a high review on eBay is because buyers cannot receive negative feedback, and Mr. James if fully aware of this policy. So I'm not a very avid collector but I stopped by and took a look at this store, at first thought "pretty cool." But, then while I'm browsing I got this guy who I think is the owner (lanky balding guy) just watching my every step. He asks me if I have any questions and I say don't. Minutes pass and I suddenly have a question. I ask him and he totally he answers but he answers in a totally demeaning way like I was stupid or something. I don't collect figures at all and nor would I ever if everyone that was in this field was as rude as this douchebag! Seeing that I was trying not to let him get to I just keep my cool and relax. Then I buy some toys that were actually rather pricey, I mean on a daily basis I don't think he has people spending hundreds of dollars at his store. Anyways I wanted to ask for a receipt and I walk back in without him noticing, while he's on the phone. And guess what? I can totally hear him talking a whole bunch of crap about me cause I'm not an experienced collector. I ignore it and just leave but I'll never go back. Horrible way to run a business and not professional at all. I for sure wouldn't be talking crap about my top dollar customers whether they knew what they were buying or not. I also heard that this guy tries to rip people off that are inexperienced in this field. If next time your looking to go to a independently owned toy store, I wouldn't even bother with this one. Instead go to Action City in Federal Way at least you'll get a nice helpful owner that wants you to get interested in this stuff, not make you feel stupid and talk crap behind your back. This place has a lot of negative reviews but I always have to give a place a shot first for myself before I decide. They have a lot of great stuff, things that most stores simply don't have. Gen 1 Transformers some Mint in Box, some really great comics, I mean not that often you can walk in and see an Amazing Fantasy 15, and tons of carded and loose figures. If you know your prices on things, and I do having worked in a comic store for years and I sell toys also for fun and trade, they are pretty much on the ball. I picked up some cool Star Wars toys, the owner even worked with me on the price a bit and we had a very interesting conversation about schools and gun laws! He was friendly and engaging. Yes they were busy when we first walked in but we were still greeted and when it was time to look at stuff, the other 2 employees offered to help but the owner said he'd take care of us.
