I called many locksmiths to see what they could do for me to rekey a two drawer file cabinet. Every one I called quoted a service call plus the key and the lock: always somewhere in the range of $75 to $100. Then I call Anderson Mill Lock and Key. I get John who simply explains all my options (without being asked) which included just getting a replacement key since I had a brand and a lock number. One key $12 bucks, two keys add a dollar. Took the keys back to my office and bingo they work. I like this. Offering your customer a range of choices to try and explaining what we will do if they don't work. I called, set up an appointment and the person on the phone answered all my questions. (They even answered my questions when I called them back from Lowe's after not being able to get any assistance there. ) I appreciated them calling and arriving when they said they would. Wasted my time! After many conversations and a visit to our home one of the owners stated that instillation of a deadbolt would cost not $60 but $125. I debated on going with this company but since we had already invested so much time I decided to go ahead and pay the price of $125. Then when he showed up to do the job, decided he didn't want to put it up in a higher location because it's "too difficult" and said he is passing on the job. Absolutely ridiculous. I could of already had them installed by now and we have a new house with a pool and small kids that causes a safety issue by the delay. It's not that the guy wasn't nice but just wishy washy, indecisive, and unclear. When you ask him why it's difficult he literally can't really explain other than it's up high. Okay, I am not one to write bad reviews often but I am very unhappy with this place after my experience yesterday. I got out of the car and locked it from the inside, stupidly forgetting that I left my keys inside when I slammed my door shut. So I called the company nearest my house (only about 2.4 miles away) and they told me it would be around $60. $60!! They were so close to my house! At first I didn't realize how much this kind of service cost so I agreed and they told me they would be here soon. Then I called another couple of companies to find a place that charged only $15 for the same service. Too bad when I realized this the Anderson Mill Lock & Key guy was already here. So now I'm upset I paid so much more for a service that would've cost me so much less. The guy was nice enough but the price was just ridiculous. Moral of the story: call a bunch of companies and ask for prices before agreeing to one in particular. Also, don't call Anderson Mill Lock & Key if you want them to unlock your car. We cannot say it enough...we were incredibly blown away by the quick, efficient and helpful employees. We had an issue with our car and thought it was with our ignition - but we found out after saving so much money that it was a simple fix - it was a worn key that needed to be remade. Within 30-45 minutes we had two keys made and they even did a remote keyless entry for our daughter's 2004 Chevy Impala, which upon purpose did not come with the car for less than $150. "Longhorn Lock and Key" were also helpful, although they could not help us, they recommended Anderson Mill Lock and Key and we are so glad they did! read more

The bored kid behind the counter couldn't hide how disinterested he was in helping me. He couldn't work the machine to create a duplicate car key, either. Eventually, an older gentlemen came along and cut the key for me, but even he had to call the help line for their key cutting software to find out how to do it correctly. The bored kid was doing something with his phone (texting or facebook is my guess) during this time. But when it came time to charge me money, he suddenly came alive, if only for a few brief seconds. I will NEVER use this company for anything, under any circumstances. They didn't seem interested in helping me and didn't seem to know what they were doing. read more

Being the absent mind idiot that I am, I locked my keys in my car. And to make it worse, it was a rental car. So, no "give me a ride home and I'll grab my backup key". And, the rental car people (*cough* enterprise *cough*) were snooty with me on the phone. The guy I spoke with on the phone was helpful. He wasn't able to help me out because he was on his way to help someone else, but gave me some recommendations for some other people. I think that's pretty cool. Anderson Mill Lock & Key did a great job repairing my ignition! My key could barely get in the ignition and kept getting stuck. They repaired it really fast and it works great. Also the guy there is a sweetheart. I took my car to Cothrans first, the one downtown, but I did not like them at all. Cothrans had me drive it all the way there, then said they could not work on it that day, and I should bring it back tomorrow. They could have said so on the phone and saved me a lot of time and gas. Already fuming from this day of unfortunate events, this day could not get any worse! Due to this being the first time ever locking myself out I had no idea what to do. I have used Anderson Mill Lock and Key for several different situations. I first went to the store to get an extra car key made (since the original second car key had disappeared). I didn't realize that they could also program a new key fob as a backup and they also replaced that. I then needed my front door re-keyed as the lock was over 30 yrs old and was getting difficult to open and close. Mark did this without any problems. Finally the company sent John to re-key an antique armoire and an actual lock to a safe that I misplaced. All employees are friendly, reliable, professional and certainly know what they are doing. Mike and the guys are honest, experienced and knowledgeable. They knew exactly what was wrong with my front door lock and fixed it without me having to get all new keys. They also re-programmed my car, to which we had lost the keys & remotes, while I waited. We had locked our only set of keys in the car about a month ago. I called a $15 pop-a-lock service advertised on the internet - about 3 minutes after that guy arrived he handed me a bill for $150 for me to sign before he would hand me back my keys.
