Workmanship is excellent--from demolition, to fabrication, to installation. The crews are very professional and work well together to make the process flow efficiently. The preparation of our walls for new tile after demolition was particularly impressive--no sloppy patched holes--but new drywall and a clean surface to accept the new tile. Some patience and trust is required as Randy communicates through text and email in short sentences, but not to worry, the job gets done right. read more

I recently completed two major projects with Amazonia Kitchen & Bath, and I am extremely pleased with the outcome of both. We used his preferred vendors and the process was smooth. The first project was kitchen countertops for our kitchen remodel. The finished island is a 6'4" x 7'6" satin Taj Mahal quartzite. Not many finishers are able to fabricate this stone. It is the focal point of our kitchen and it required 8 guys to carry in the stone. The other counters are Dreis quartz. All of them had a 3" mitered lip which works well with larger kitchens. All of the countertop work was completed by David and the tile work was done by brothers Serge and Valentine. While no project is ever perfect, Randy did exactly what was needed to make us happy. In the signature of his email he writes, "If you think it's expensive to hire a professional, wait until you hire an amateur." He warranteed something that other companies would not have. Big fan of this type of company and this is why we chose Randy for our second project. The second project was countertops for the laundry room and bathroom remodel for all four baths. For a while we were living out of the quest bath, but Randy was able to schedule everything in a somewhat timely manner. He did keep me from making a huge mistake, by talking me out of seams in the master bath. I wanted to minimize the number of slabs, but that would have been the wrong time to go cheap. We changed the stone color and found a jumbo Crema Marfil quartz that looks great. This allowed for the same number of slabs with only an incremental cost increase. I did use a prefab granite for the laundry room and the vanity for a small bath. There was a small amount of savings with prefab, but if you are trying to highlight a room I would let David fabricate the stone! The cost differential isn't that much. If you are someone who wants to meet your contractor face to face then this is not the company for you. Randy works through the internet, text and phone. Meeting Randy would mean that something went terribly wrong with your project. And if you're someone like me who is used to receiving an instant response to your communication, you will find yourself frustrated at times. It may take a couple of days for him to respond, but he always does. Tile brothers schedule is very flexible, but David's is not. Expect to wait. If you plan ahead, can be patient, and are the type to demand excellent work you will be completely satisfied. One last idea...if you redo your showers you should consider finishing the remnants of the stone and utilizing them on the bench. It ties everything together. My experience was awesome with Randy of Amazonia and his crew of professional installers. They fabricated and installed a kitchen countertop and two bathroom vanities. Randy wanted our business and provided us what we felt was a fair price and timeline. He was always available to speak to and easy to communicate with via personal visit, text, voice, and/or email. He answered all of our probably annoying questions as this was our first experience with granite and honored all the agreements he made with us. His crew of three men were great to work with over one full day of demo and one full day of installation a week later. I liked that the same crew that demo'ed returned to install. They took great pride and care in making sure they kept the dust and debris contained to the immediate areas, protected floors and appliances at all times and cleaned up at the end of each day. They didn't mind that I took many photos to document this exciting change in our home. They freely answered all questions or concerns. We had amazonia fabricate and install our kitchen countertops. We had a lot of countertop space and they did an amazing job cutting the pieces to create as little seams as possible. They look absolutely amazing and we get so many complements on them. Amazonia was also able to use the left over pieces of our kitchen counter to use in our upstairs hallway linen cabinets. I was referred to Amazonia via Amazon Stone. I had already been to every slab shop in town, at least three times, and had already gotten several bids, including bids for quartz countertops. We selected Amazonia and couldn't be more pleased. We are owner-builders and have hired every last contractor to build a custom home. Why did we select Amazonia over the many other options we'd already considered, because Randy Jacobs seemed like the real deal, responsive, communicative, concerned with delivering a quality product and service and committed to his business. His price for installation was very fair. We ended up purchasing Indian Premium Granite through Arizona Tile under the contractor rate given to Amazonia, about $10.82 / S.F. versus the $12 / S.F. I was quoted on my own. Randy made the purchase directly from Arizona Tile after I selected the slabs and placed a deposit. Amazonia paid for the slabs in full upon pick-up, and, upon my request, Arizona Tile emailed me a signed Unconditional Waiver Release Form. This way, I was assured the slabs had indeed been paid for before I gave a final payment to Amazonia. In our case, the Indian Premium slabs at Arizona Tile were the best quality for the price, and the best size for our project, such that we were not over purchasing too much material. As I knew we'd have some left over, I asked for a second quote to add a bathroom vanity and dresser top to the order and these were very reasonably priced by Amazonia. We signed a contract. Randy was willing to sign a contract we drafted, which was slightly beefier than the quote and terms sheet style contract he supplied. We made the Amazonia quote and terms sheet an addendum to the Contract. Antonio came to make the templates. He was diligent and friendly, smart, careful, a good communicator and focused on quality results. We discussed the desire to minimize seams and that ideally we would prefer no seam in the corner of the kitchen countertop. I myself had mocked up a layout in Photoshop to see if this would be possible and I couldn't make the layout work without a corner seam - but Antonio and his crew did make it work. He said he would call to discuss other options if he couldn't make a seamless corner. He never called, because he made it work!! That detail makes a huge difference. There is one seam in our entire project, at the kitchen sink, that's all. The buffet is a full 10' long, no seams. Really nice. The slab measured 121" wide. Hiring any contractor is a lot of work -- too much frankly -- but that is the nature of the beast. It's a breath of fresh air when you land an excellent contractor. This is especially critical when the job is finish work that you will look at and live with for the rest of time. Tip: When hiring any contracor, learn to use the San Diego Tax Asessors Public Record database called the Grantee/Grantor database. Type this into google for a link. You can search on business names and private parties to get a picture of their public record history. Seach on last name first for private parties. If a person or company has a lot a negative public records - tax liens, mechanics liens, law suits, etc., you might want to stay away. The on-line database will show you the name, date and type of record. If you want to see the actual paperwork you need to visit the courthouse and use their computer system, it's free and available to the public, in fact, that's the whole point of Public Records. Along with the CSLB databse, which tells you whether someone is a bonafide contractor with a current license, etc., the Grantee/Grantor database gives a great picture of how cleanly someone runs their business and their personal life. read more

Being an architect I calculated the net square footage of the counters. His number matched mine, so that shows honesty. The Amazonia crew removed the old countertops, fabricated and installed the new granite countertops and splashes. They paid attention to detail regarding the new sinks (4 of them) and the holes for the faucets for each sink. The workers always showed up within the time window and went right to work. They provided protection for the flooring and cleaned up each day after work. At the end of the project there was a small problem with the ends of two splashes. This is one of the worst experiences I have ever had with a contractor. He never came to the job and held all of us hostage to his price increases. He was arrogant and demanding and would fabricate conversations that did not exist. I do in fact compliment his installation crew who did an outstanding job . Although the poor guys are instructed to be the collection department also. I was exasperated through the whole experience, once he gets your material you are truly at his mercy. I found Amazonia from checking the Yelp reviews for the area. This company has a five star rating and I really do not know why. The whole process started on April 18th. The first initial contact was good and then down hill ever since. We made sure to get our granite picked out within 3 days. I notified him the house was vacant and we were moving in on the May 20th. The initial time to start the job was to begin the 1 at week of May. As May came no work was started yet , then became the second week of May . After calling him after not getting responses to text , we then delayed our move again. I finally received a text.The first part of the installation started May 23rd and the drawers were not closing correctly. It was a holiday weekend and the next business day was Tuesday 26th. Of course they did not come to finish the job on that day either. I did finally get a text asking for my code to enter on Wednesday May 27th. I have never heard a word since then. I went to the home to check on everything on the 28th and it was done . Looks good know but there is nothing great I can say about this job or the whole process . I even had to leave a key out for them , because Randy had no where I could bring the key too. Did not feel good about that at all or safe, had to re-key the house again, delay my move and a lot of heartache. His other big pitch when you talk with him he is a licensed and bonded contractor so he can do everything. Well when I checked if they could install a new cook top, the answer was no. I would agree he is definitely a licensed contractor, no respect for anyone's time, horrible communication and will use outside contractors to do everything for him when ever he feels like it. If you use them, I am sure you will get the finished project , but as I said , be ready you are dealing with a contractor. He also has a warranty with the product, I am sure if I have any problem I will be calling someone else if I want it done in any respectable time frame. read more

He had actually done my mom's marble in La Jolla a few years and remembered her and gave me the same deal as a repeat customer...We were at the tail end of a remodel so it was a ton of moving pieces to coordinate, different contractors in and out, etc. but he accomodated our schedule and helped us track down additional slabs of the exact slab we loved - coordinating with Arizona Tile on our behalf. I was a little nervous that we didn't see 2 of the 3 slabs until they were brought for installation but I was right to trust him, he said they would go perfectly with the other 1 and they did! They fabricated a large kitchen countertop and 3 bathroom countertops in about a week and rushed to install to get it done before my hardwood floor guy was scheduled to start on the kitchen floors. It was such a relief to have them in and we absolutely love them!! The only small issue we had was the farmhouse sink was just a little crooked and I felt kind of high maintenance even bringing it up but Randy sent his guys back to re-caulk it and straighten it out - perfect! His rates were really competetive too, I didn't shop around as I had always planned to use him but when we shopped for kitchen cabinets those cos. priced it out as part of the design and it was literally double or triple the cost of working with Randy.
