In one word....DELICIOUS!!! This spot is so worth the trip. Portion sizes are on point and the taste of the jumbo shrimp, tickles the tastebuds. I called them on the day of, around 3 minutes after they opened, to ask if they would be willing to take an order for 75 fried wings. The lady on the phone was extremely nice and welcomed my large order . I told her what time I needed them and she assured me that they would be ready. She made a point to mention that if I'm not there within 30 minutes of my scheduled pick up time, they would sell my wings. The pick up was easy, although it was a struggle to find parking. Here's the deets on the wangs, LOL I've had better fried chicken, but it was still sort of good. Some of the wings were extremely small, and some seemed like they could've been fried a little longer. They were lightly seasoned, so had we to drown them in hot sauce to kick the flavor up a notch. Again, my order was last minute so maybe that's the reason?! The price was right so no complaints for that. If you need a large amount of fried chicken and are pressed for time, I suggest this place. Post pandemic this place is no longer good as it once was. I accept that 1or 2 wings might be old and beat up, but today 8 out of 10 wings weren't edible. They were covered by breading and crispy, but underneath they were hard & discolored. Several were malformed. I bought them yesterday (Sat. 8/14), but dug in the trash this morning so I could take some pics. Yesterday they looked so bad they made me lose my appetite. I wrapped the really old ones in plastic bags. I couldn't find them this morning. I should have known something was up because I stopped at the store and left them in the car. Since my recent visit to Washington D.C., I have been on a mission to find some fried catfish at the level of D.C.'s local eateries. Visiting Ambassador Fish and Chicken was my second attempt to replicate my DC experience. Ambassador Fish and Chicken was located in the most "hood" of all the fried chicken/fish joints I have recently visited. There was a glass window between the girl working the counter and two beat up tables for seating. The place looked pretty unkempt in general. We ordered some whiting, catfish, wings, and fried chicken to share. The chicken is fried to order, so we had to wait a bit. The whiting and catfish came out first. They were both extremely heavily seasoned (as you can see in my pictures), and just a bit too salty. But the addition of some vinegary hot sauce balanced out the flavor nicely. Texturely, you can tell that one order was catfish and the other whiting. And the amount of fish for the price was very good. It was nearly as good as DC. We got the chicken and fries because I love fried chicken. They were very good, and not as salty (once again, you can see in my pictures). Great chicken. I mean really good chicken!!! Love coming here but I won't be back here until this whole virus is over. The store is small and the customers that come in are not practicing distancing. The establishment also does not have anything in place such as markers on the floor to indicate the space, curbside pickup and they still don't take your phone orders over the phone in this time to allow you to pay so you can be in and out. So people are just waiting around. You can step outside and wait but you still gotta go in to get your order with a crowd of people. They can do better. I know y'all gotta eat and pay bills but you can make the process safer for not only your staff but for the customers and the community you are in.
