Visited today with family. Had a great experience! It's a cozy, clean, casual place and we watched the Phillies game while enjoying drinks and a meal. This bar has an extensive beer list and knowledgeable staff. The food is made from scratch and you can tell. I ordered the BBQ vurger The bun was drier than I'd like, but acceptable soft and chewy. The burger did not have a dense maillard crisp and was packed too densely, but the meat quality was good, both juicy and flavorful. Came here for a birthday get together over the weekend and it did not disappoint. The drink prices were reasonable and the food was delicious (highly recommend the spicy fried pickles and the bbq chicken pizza). I think our group overwhelmed the staff since it is a small place. Service was a bit wonky at times because of this but they couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. We were downstairs for a majority of the evening which was great aside from that they couldn't take cash down there, only cards. The downstairs closed probably around 10:30 and we were asked to go upstairs instead to mingle. I look forward to going back on a normal evening, not with a large group. read more

This new restaurant is not located in the best of areas but would not let that pass it up. Upon entering the upstairs bar is rustic, open, and industrial. Very different than anything this area has. The windows are garage doors that open up which is awesome for nice weather. The music is awesome- everything from hits to oldies. Each table has an outlet at their seat which is always a nice touch. Their happy hour menu (4-6) is very great- $3 beef tacos, $7 sampler (wings, dumplings, calamari, meatballs), and $1.50 off all drinks. We got the sampler and would highly recommend that for a happy hour. It should be added to the regular menu to try all that the rest of the menu has. My only reason for a star off is when ordering the pickle back we thought it was an actual cocktail, but it was pickle back shots. It was awesome that it was in a pickle I just felt like the menu writing was off. The other was that the staff was not confident at all. When presenting the menu or needing to answer questions it was very hard to get an answer. I know they are new but this was something I felt effected my rating. We went downstairs and it was not what I expected. Seems like a basement with a bar and games. Christian was our bartender and he was so friendly and personable! He let us know there will be a 70 inch tv coming soon for games. This bar is right around the corner from me and I absolutely love it. They did an excellent job with the decor and atmosphere. I have been able to get here 3 times since it has open but just to grab a drink and appetizer. The beer selection is good, but I hope it rotates and stays fresh. I enjoyed the Cape May Haze Pale Ale each time I have been and then had the sweet potato pirogies which were delicious. The staff was very friendly but there are still some bumps in the road, as expected with a brand new restaurant. They seem to still be learning their POS and prices sometimes don't match up so double check your bill, they are very understanding and get it changed ASAP. With 2 floors and over 8 TVs this is a great spot to watch the game without being in a huge crowd as well as a great place to grab an after work drink or pre-drink before heading out on the town. read more

The worst customer service ever. I was sitting at the bar for 40 mins when I decided to order food. The Black female stud bartender asks to see my ID. I honestly left it at home (because I never get carded at places like El Camino, Anejo, Figo, Set NoLibs which are better establishments) She refused to let me continue to sit at the bar just to eat . I was not looking to drink. She forced me to sit at a table and not at the bar. Honestly if you're going to have a Stupid rule like that how about carding people IMMEDIATELY when they choose to sit at the bar. Don't let someone get comfortable in their seat and then kick them out of the bar area, it was very rude and disrespectful for her to not do her job properly (card people immediately sis) and randomly decide to card me to eat at the bar area after 40 mins of being comfortable in my seat. My office friends and I stopped here to order food and have a few drinks in celebration of a co-worker we lost recently. The waitress was rude, made disparaging remarks about us (alleging that we would "stiff" her) and refused service. It was a terrible experience...she had no customer service etiquette and needs to learn humility. She was the only waitstaff in sight, became "overwhelmed" and was very attitudinal from the time we walked in the door. The Ambassador did not deserve the one star given and we will never patronize it again. Cool new bar in the neighborhood Ambiance - This place is brand new yet has a very industrial feel that plays homage to the history of the building which is really cool. This place fits the vibe of the neighborhood and is nice and casual - you can pretty much wear anything here and you'll see a variety of attire here. Everything is very clean. Exactly what you'd expect from an unpretentious neighborhood bar. There are also garage doors which can be opened up when it's nice out to let a breeze in - though tables are still located inside which is the right move given the neighborhood. Food - The menu is pretty limited in my opinion - one page of American sports bar and comfort food. If you're into that sort of thing, you'll have plenty to choose from. Everything I've had here was good but not stand-out, which is fine for this type of place and certainly meets expectations. I'm a fan of the Fried Chicken sandwich and the Buffalo Wings during football games which are half-price. I would say this is a solid option of you like this type of cuisine. Vegan and Vegetarian options are clearly identified on the menu which is a nice touch, though the majority of the main plates don't fit the bill, so it may not be the best option for those with that particular restriction. Drink - The drink list is certainly very hip - with lots of draft beer (craft options included) as well as craft cocktails to choose from. It's clear that the bartenders here know their stuff and one was even telling me how he used to bar-tend at several fine dining establishments in the city. The drinks are excellent and there is a lot to choose from. Beer to go is also available at the front of the store, though for the price I'd recommend going to Girard Beer Distributor two blocks up if it's open. Service- Service is super friendly and it is evident that the staff cares about your experience. On one of my visits my food was taking a little longer than usual so the bartender was quick to check on my meal and provide a complimentary beer to tide me over while I waited. Bartenders are also fun to chat with when the place isn't busy - though I imagine those times will get rarer and rarer with how popular the place is becoming in the neighborhood. Value - There seem to be a lot of deals here that I'm still learning of - for example the Football Sunday deal on wings I've taken advantage of or the happy hour a few other reviewers are referring to. I wish these deals were better advertised so I could take advantage of them. In my opinion - prices are on the high end of acceptable. For example, there are a few items on the menu I balk at because of the price, but I don't think it's outrageous or prohibitive. I would say this is the place you go for drinks and snacks, not for a full meal. While I wouldn't consider this a destination bar, or a spot you travel out of your way to try, I would certainly recommend Ambassador for drinks and snacks if you happen to find yourself in the neighborhood! read more

About two weeks ago (Saturday, January 11th) was our (my boyfriend & myself) first time visiting Ambassador. From the moment we walked in, we loved the rustic industrial decor as well as the inviting ambiance. We were greeted and sat right away by a friendly server or bar back. We started off with the Dutch's Mezcal & the Empress, both Werra beautifully handcrafted cocktails that were amazing! We enjoyed those as our meals were being prepared. My boyfriend had the Green Chile cheeseburger and I got the roasted chicken BLT, both were amazingly fresh takes on the classics. Then we capped off the evening with The ambassadress and the ambassador last word cocktails which were again beautifully handcrafted Cocktails. The MOD or the GM checked in a couple of time as well to make sure we had everything we needed. We both agreed that this is the first time in A while where we received great service, food, & cocktails in a lovely environment! They are accommodating of my children which is hard in a small place. Burger is delicious as well as the fries. The ambassador Bloody Mary is awesome to look at, eat and drink. The breakfast the past 2 times has just been ok. First time the sausage and pepper omelet had no taste and second time it was very runny on the inside. The French toast was pretty good! The vegetarian options are solid and some of the less veg-friendly options can be customized to be vegetarian. The Pot luck beer on tap is a great option to round out a city wide or two. I waited a while for this bar to open. I used to live on 6th Street and always wanted a walkable, neighborhood bar on the area and that's what Ambassador would've been. I had to settle for outdoor dining in the Rona, but I got what I came for: cheap, fun drinks, friendly local staff, and my guest really enjoyed her mussels bowl, so the food wasn't too bad, either. The NBA Bubble was in full swing and the games were viewable through the windows of the bar so it was *almost* like Normal again watching sports and drinking CityWides. I live maybe 50 ft from this location. I visit frequently to say the least. The customer experience is shitty at best. I ordered brunch for myself and a friend today Sunday 11/22/2020. I go to pickup and wait in excess of 25 minutes. After being basically forced to purchase a cocktail during my ridiculously long wait I was then told by what appeared to be the manager to put my mask on. This made it impossible to even drink my cocktail. I mean.. I could be home eating but you're holding my food hostage. I don't want to be exposed to your pathogens anymore than you would like to be exposed to mine... But I'm waiting for your establishment to get their shit together. I am a patron. I'm honestly not going out of my way to be rude but I was so disappointed with my food tonight. I paid $30 and it was the worst grilled cheese and tomato soup I've ever had. The tomato soup tasted like vodka sauce. I feel like it actually could have been vodka sauce and they gave me that on accident. I barely tasted tomato. Was just marinara and cream. And the dessert was the smallest two little cakes I've ever seen. They were fluffy either, they were also sort of undercooked in the middle. I wanted to give this place a shot because it's in my neighborhood but it was truly terrible. So now I'm out $30 and looking for somewhere else to eat. read more

This place just opened in early October. After years of walking by a boarded up old bar we were thrilled when the boards came off and a "diamond in the rough" was revealed. Since going to the neighborhood welcome event I have have been back 3 other times. I have tried the crispy calamari which was delicious. The crisp potato dumplings were tasty. As a sauce connoisseur it was interesting to find out that the chef makes all their own sauces from scratch. I wish they had a little sauce sampler upon request as I like to dip into everything. The last time I was back I had a beef and cheddar paninni which I enjoyed and the soup was delicious. The ambiance is cool and I got to meet the designer and also one of the owners. I'm interested in design in the city and it was interesting to find out they pulled the tin that they used to decorate the inside of the bar from an old rectory which re purposed it from being thrown away.
