By that point, I had already driven approximately 20 minutes to the clinic. Upon arrival, I informed the front desk that I was a first-time client and had just received the voicemail. I was told they could not see my pet and that the only option was to return at 2:00 PM the same day. No alternative scheduling options or accommodations were offered at that time. I understand that unexpected situations can occur. However, for clients with limited availability, being notified at the last minute and asked to return several hours later may not be feasible. As a caregiver for a family member with dementia, my schedule requires careful planning. I decided to cancel the appointment and will not be returning. I am sharing this experience so others are aware that last-minute cancellations may occur and that same-day accommodations may be limited.

I initially called the hospital but there was no answer. And shortly after I hung up I received a text message stating that I could text to schedule an appointment and I'd get a response within 72 hours. So I replied to the text message and was able to get an appointment confirmed later that evening. The hospital's hours and doctor availability works well for my schedule and the location is conveniently close to my home/work. When we arrived for our Friday evening appointment we were greeted by the nicest staff member and directed to sit in the waiting area which is fully stocked with snacks and beverages for both humans and pets. After a few minutes we got set up in the exam room and met the technician and the vet who were both personable and kind and our dog loved them, along with everyone else in the office. We had a really good first appointment for our new puppy. The staff seemed knowledgeable, addressed all of our concerns and let us know what to expect. We are looking forward to our next visit.

I've known Dr. Pilversack and Dr. Crepeau the longest, but Dr. Fujiura seems very kind in our interactions as well. I was surprised to see the negative reviews and think they seem to be mostly from the first post-Covid years, when the clinic did seem to struggle for awhile to get back to normal. In those days, it was walk-in only, urgent issues were prioritized, and so there were often very long waits in the waiting room. The good news is that these days Companion Animal Hospital does offer appointments, the wait times are back to being reasonable, and the whole office runs very smoothly again as a general rule (I have several pets so I'm in often). It may seem like a no-brainer, but after a brief bad experience at a different vet clinic, I no longer take for granted how genuinely animal-loving the vets (and vet techs) at Companion are. They pay as much (or more) attention to my pets as they do to me, and talk to and "make friends" with them before jumping in to examine or do procedures on them. They are always kind and compassionate and never act annoyed or impatient with my pets when they're being fearful or shy. I truly trust that at Companion Animal Hospital, they care about my pets' well-being in addition to their business. They are always open to discussing the costs of various options without any condescension or judgment. I tend to ask a lot of questions, and the vets at Companion never seem bothered by that. They called Banks Vet because that was her vet and her ONLY chance at survival. The lady Jennifer just said no. Repeatedly. And rudely. No care at all. Didn't offer any end of life comfort or nothing. Our sweet little baby held on for almost the entire 20 minute drive to Tanasbourne in pain and being basically tortured as she bleed to death. A vet is supposed to care. They are supposed to help. This place did NOTHING. I will never take my animals back to this place.
