Service is now officially gone from these places. You order on the screen, which is fine. But then you cannot talk to anybody, they hide in the back. When my food is ready, the girl literally came out for two seconds, threw it on the counter, shouted my name, and practically ran into the back again. So then I have to stand there and kind of shout into the back just to get them to hand me a bag to put the food in so I can bring it on the plane. To add insult to injury, that screen asks for the tip upfront. Their pizza slices cannot be held, they're soft and floppy, I assume they're under cooking them or something. We arrived to our terminal a bit early and wanted to get a bite before our flight since we didn't know when we'd eat next. I had looked up the dining choices in advance, but until you see the actual places it's harder to make a decision. After walking through and looking at the options we decided on pizza. I had had their pizza before when they first opened their location in PB so I knew it was good. Plus it was fairly priced compared to the other airport options. This is in the food court of the new Terminal 1. We asked for our pizza to be well done, but it still was a bit soggy. We got a mushroom and sausage and the staff were nice enough to switch out pepperoni for the sausage. It was a decent pizza just wish it hadn't been so soggy. read more

Airport location. Maybe 2.5 at best. Cant recommend. Needs dough making work, crust forming work, topping amount and spreading work , and baking work. Pizza came out quick enough but was a grease covered , wet , floppy, sloppy mess. See pics. I got the Hannibal Lechter-- cute name but basically a meat pizza w peppers. Crust had a nice crunch and appearance but was crumbly and floppy. Toppings slid off immediately upon picking up. Central pizza crust totally saturated and about a mm thick. I've been a fan of the regular Ambrogio 15 for years, so I was happy to see they opened one in the new Terminal 1. The pizza here is just as good as at their main spots -- thin, crispy, and really flavorful. You can tell they didn't cut corners just because it's at the airport. The new Terminal 1 itself is really nice too -- clean, bright, and way more relaxed than the old setup (to put it mildly). Ambrogio fits right in. Service was quick and it actually felt like a place you'd want to eat at even if you weren't traveling. Definitely a go-to spot if I need a bite before a flight out of SAN. read more

Luna Grill ran out of chicken so right next door I noticed Ambrogio 15. There was 0 line, so I figured I would step up and take my chances . The reason for the 3 star review is the size of the pizza. I ordered the sausage + mushroom pizza, and it was $18.14 (with the airport surcharge and the tax). I was so excited because I thought that the pizza would fill the box. To my surprise, it was like a little over half of the box. What's kind of deceiving is that there's display pizza that they have in their case is a larger pizza than what you get. That was a bad surprise, especially because I was so hungry, and I did not expect to pay $16.50 for the size I got. I did see other customer photos that they posted here, and their pizzas do look bigger than the one I got. So I'm not sure if mine was like a one off.... But unfortunately, it was very disappointing to me to get a smaller pizza, and I hope that next time (if I don't try a different restaurant instead), I hope the pizza is at least 2" bigger. I would come back because the taste was pretty good by the way, but I would mention that I would prefer that they give me a larger size piece of dough; they do make each one fresh it seems ! read more

Stopped here for a breakfast sandwich and coffee. This was one of the worst experiences I've had in a while. The staff were aloof and unhelpful, food was slow to come out even though we were the only customers. My lukewarm coffee was only half full with grounds covering the bottom of the cup.
