It's perfectly fine. I've been here twice so far. I rarely go to the movies these days because let's be real, $20 a ticket is absolute insanity. The last time I came here was to see one of the Spiderman movies in like 2021. Came this weekend after having a horrible disaster at home and needed cheering up. I've literally been to every single Star Wars movie good and bad and I was not going to stop with The Mandalorian and Grogu. Theater is a little bit on the small side. I feel like it's compact to fit the block. The rows are a little bit level with each other and because I bought a popular movie ticket the night before we unfortunately were situated only 3 rows from the front. Seats are nice. They recline, are heated and have a tray which is both convenient and annoying after awhile. For the commercials and previews they really blast the sound system way too loud to the point of going deaf. But the sound managed to adjust once the movie started. It was very clean and the staff was surprisingly friendly. I'd keep coming back for a rare movie treat. It's less chaotic than going to Union Square or Times Square. read more

Ive been going to this theater for a long time and it is decent, yet an older theater. lt's set up a little different than other locations since where you check in, purchase tickets and purchase concessions are pretty much all in the same space. The employees are polite. The auditoriums are a little bit smaller than the ones that everyone usually goes to like 34th street or Union Square, but the reclining chairs are very comfortable. They make the popcorn in small batches so you always get a fresh bag/bucket (I think they have specialty flavors as well if you would like to upgrade). Butter and soft drinks are self-serve and there are Coke product machines with all the varieties. you'd can choose. The only issue we had was the movie screen was kind of small. read more

I come here every so often to watch a movie premiere of something I look forward to. It's your standard movie experience, but with some small pluses -- like the recliner seats, which is a nice touch. The screens are really bright with good sound systems. The facilities are nice too, but my specific recliner seat didn't recline as much as my friend's for some odd reason -- not that big of a deal. The seats also had a warming function, which was nice. I'd give this place five stars, especially considering the quality of theatre in the middle of Union Square, but the popcorn was a bit stale. read more

We wanted to see Fantastic Four and a friend also wanted to try out a restaurant nearby so I figured AMC 19th would be a good bet. None of us had ever been to this theater before. If I'm downtown, I usually go to AMC East Village or AMC Kips Bay. If I'm uptown, I usually go to AMC Lincoln Center or AMC 86th. Well, we were very unpleasantly surprised. First of all, the seats are tight. Probably the tighest movie theater seats I've been in since all the theaters collectively rolled out the reclining chairs. The chair also didn't recline all the way or have a leg rest that went all the way up. We were stuck in some kind of limbo pseudo-amtrak situation. The screen was so small - and if you're all the way in the back, you actually don't even feel like you're in a proper movie theater, you're so far away. This is perhaps my least favorite AMC that I've ever been to - and I almost exclusively go to AMCs. The staff here were very nice though and the concessions were fine. read more

I have been coming to this theater since my teen years. Once upon a time there were box office booths lining the exterior, but those have long since been shut down, giving way to the era of online ticket sales and reserving seats ahead of time. The marquee is still quite a sight however, making up the corner of 19th street it grabs your attention as you walk towards the theater from Union Square Park. This theater has been renovated in recent years, so it looks nice and bright. When you walk in someone is usually there to scan your ticket. When you go past that, the concessions stand is to the left while escalators going downstairs are to the right. Follow the (somewhat narrow) path in the middle and you'll see a small bar, part of AMC's efforts to elevate the movie experience. I have never actually seen a bartender at the bar, but it is well stocked and clean so I presume it operates at some point in the day (perhaps in the evenings?). The main level has two theaters while there are more downstairs. I vaguely recall the lower level once having concessions, but now you have to get them upstairs (though there is a Coke Freestyle machine down there). The theaters have been renovated as well, featuring modern day seats that can recline. The image quality is great and the sound levels during each of my visits have been perfect (not too loud or muffled). I've gone to this theater a few times in the last five years or so and each time the staff has been very friendly and helpful, so no complaints there. This is my least favorite AMC movie theater when it comes to the movie theater layout. Every row is practically on the same level. There's barely any level and every row is almost on the same level. So then if you sit at the very end then you see a lot of heads in front of you apart from the movie screen. Wish they had more level if they can renovate all the rooms. This AMC on 19th Street and Broadway boasts a bar with alcoholic drinks. Imagine? Located near Union Square, this cinema hall shows new movies and has both IMAX and Dolby. There is an elevator and escalators as the restrooms are downstairs along with more movie halls. There is wheelchair accessible parking, entrance and seating. I wish the seats reclined more and the legs cannot be raised higher as those R rhe AMC in Kips Bay. Plus the tray doesn't move far left making it slightly uncomfortable. Tickets are $13 before 4 pm and $17 later on for seniors. On Friday, a re-release of "Anora" that won five awards at the Oscars including best picture was priced at $8. Naturally, I toodled off there to see it. Refreshments are expensive here and a small popcorn was $9.79. More than my ticket. I passed up. read more

Well six years ago I reviewed this theater and re- reading my review, maybe somebody at AMC read it and thought.. hmmm. I'm happy to report that AMC is renovated and looks smashing, darling! We caught the new Adam Driver film "Ferrari" at this theater ( btw go see this film, it's very good). Alisa bought tickets online for 2:45pm show which is the first showing and received a discount on tickets,$17 vs $20. We got to our reserved seats and yowza.. the leather seats were amazing! I felt as if we were flying first class. I could set the temperature, raise my legs, built in tray, etc. I had to get my bearings with the seating dials.. I accidentally put the heat on and almost burnt my touchas! There is leg room! I placed my Crate and Barrel shopping bag against seat in front of me and people could actually pass.. The only constructive thing is: -Movie theaters why do you BLAST the sound????? -Soliciting: was a bit turned off by the green energy booth next to theater entrance. Asking Con Ed customers to sign up.. not what I want to walk into first thing. -Bathrooms: women need more stalls. All in all a really nice experience! I'm pleasantly surprised! read more

Being an AMC A-list member, I've been here several times. It's a solid AMC that's conveniently close to the PATH for those from Jersey City. The theater does feel a bit outdated and isn't the cleanest. Additionally, some of the seats I sat in had recliners that didn't fully work. There is an OK amount of snack options. The screens are reasonably good and there weren't any technical issues with them. A nice plus is that there are some decent restaurants nearby like Thai Villa and Burger & Lobster if you want to grab dinner before or after your movie. read more

I get here and apparently to get tickets at the theater, you wait in the same line to get food. Since it's a reserved seat theater or performance, you don't buy one ticket and put any of your stuff on another seat you didn't pay for. I got my ticket for 4:45 PM Saturday showing. $26.99 for a reserved seating movie theater, I had no intention of taking any BS. I got to where my seat was and the person in the next seat has their backpack in my seat. I told him it was my seat. Thankfully it was removed right away. The pros were, the workers were friendly, and accommodating. I love that you can mix your drinks on their self serving machines, along with the butter dispenser. The bathrooms were clean and so was the screening room. I'd recommend sitting in the D aisle in the middle, good view. Seats were cushy and comfortable. Didnt test for reclinement. The con was there was construction outside of the theater so you couldn't tell which way to get into it. This is a smaller movie theater, and I like how clean and well maintained it is. The concession stand is on the main ground floor when you walk in, and there is also a bar for alcoholic drinks. When booking the tickets online, you have the option to order food/snacks, and they will deliver it to your seats. The seats are comfortable, but they do not recline back fully. There's a footrest, and it slightly tilts back, but you will not be totally reclined. There's a tray attached to the seats so you can place your snacks. The seats are heated in case you get cold, so that's a nice option. Overall, this is a nice and comfortable movie theater. read more

We happened to pass by this AMC on the coldest day of 2022 so far. My husband and I decided to get out of the cold and see the new Spider-Man movie that had a showing at 2pm (we got there at 1:55pm). Perfect! There were still a lot of seats available. We got two seat by the aisle where there was a walkway/no seats directly behind our row. No one sat in the seat between us and another party of two in our row. So we felt socially distanced. The seats have two heat settings which was great. They were also leather recliners with tray tables! Nice sized screen and good surround sound. The movie was awesome and so was the experience. Would definitely come see a movie here again when back in Manhattan. Our last experience at an AMC in Manhattan was at Times Square and that was horrible. It was overcrowded, with people sitting on the stairwells and seats were not assigned at that time. We made a note that we would never ever go see a movie at the theater ever again. read more

This still remains, hands down, the best AMC theater in the city when it comes to the staff, the cleanliness, the customer service and the overall experience. I'm still not in love with the recliners here, as they don't go back the way they do at Kip's Bay or Village 7. But, it's really a small chink in the wall when you add in the other factors. We do movie date once a week. After 15 years, it works. We've been doing Kip's Bay and Village 7 a lot, but since they renovated 19th Street, it's become my favorite because of the staff. They are always overly polite and attentive. There's never a long wait. And it's ALWAYS clean. I've yet to have a bad experience or come across an employee that isn't nice and helpful. Last night the two standouts were Rudy and Kavon. Both helped us at the concession stand, and later Rudy was keeping the lobby areas clean. An added treat was seeing Gaishi, who I've mentioned before, because she makes the place light up with her unique charm. She just happened to be in there when I popped up for some candy during the movie. Movies are supposed to be fun. So is going to the movie. Nothing is a bigger buzz kill than rudeness and filth (hence, why we will avoid 42nd Street Empire and 34th Street Lowes ... they are the worst!) Coming here, it's kind of a guarantee that even if the movie sucks, the staff makes the experience a good one. read more

A small movie house at lower east side. The box office by the corner is unnoticeable but has a friendly usher not to missed it. Food Kiosk is small too but offers the same things just like other big locations. The reclining seats are new - the entire movie theater is completely renovated as of this writing. I can't say anything about their box office pricing because I used a movie voucher. Even though the screen is small, the sound is audible enough for entertainment pleasure. Yes the lobby area is a bit small / crowded but it wasn't very busy when I came (on a Friday night!) so that wasn't an issue. And there is a full bar! They have the new reclining seats with heat warmers which I found to be quite comfortable. The screen and theater was larger than I expected judging the size of the theater from the outside. The popcorn was freshly made. It was a great idea to have a self-service soda machine because you can mix your sodas. I sat in the center, E8 row. Good seats. Bathrooms were downstairs and clean. They had an escalator. You may want to check to see if they have an elevator if you need one. Overall, I had a positive experience at this theater. read more

I was about 40 mins into Ghostbuster when I saw something moving under the seat in front of me. Nearly a month after the release of Wakanda Forever, I decided to head over to the website to find a nearby theater. I never knew there was one in the Union Square or Kips Bay areas, just Penn Station and Times Square. The closer to home, the better for me to shorten the commute home. I loved it! Thank you for the freedom to reserve tickets and your preferred seating online! It has such an impact on your movie experience. When I arrived, I was greeted by the staff and then showed my online reservation for admittance with ease. There were no crowds, so there were no lines. It was quiet in the lobby and my theatre. Crisp audio and visual. The seat was so comfy with buttons on the side to easily adjust the leg rest and activate the heating system. Bonus points! I did keep my coat on since it felt a little cooler than necessary. The bathrooms on the lower level were clean and were accessible by stairs/escalator/elevator. read more

This place is nothing to write home about. Service was friendly but slow and we got crumbs of popcorn and it tasted stale. It was kind of pathetic they didn't make fresh popcorn for a 7pm show on a Sunday. Bathrooms extremely dirty. Rest of place seemed clean. I was excited for the recliners but the leg didnt go up high like the other amc locations. I do like that they have a bar here and they have food. It's not great food. When I saw the 2 stars with over 200 reviews, I was apprehensive...& it was right. So I read the prior reviews about renovating & etc so I knew it was going to be a hit or miss...& it was a miss lol. When I got there the lobby was very clean & the staff professional. The bathroom is downstairs, along with the theater, while the concession stand is up stairs. Now I get to the theater, which was small but looked new, compared to some of the pics I saw. They do have heated seats & the chairs recline partial. It's like your feet doesn't come up to a 90 degree angle it's like 60 degree, which was weird. Now here's the kicker...so I got there about 30mins prior to the movie time & I was surprised when it was about 15mins prior to the showing, the movie screen was still off. Normally how it works, the screen will be on & showing those silly ads & so on..but not this time. Now it's the show time..still nothing on the screen, 10 mins past the showtime..nothing, 15mins nothing. An employee than comes in the theater & says "sorry for the delay, but were waiting to here back from the studio about the licensing of the movie for us to play it, we'll keep you updated". :-| what?!?! Lol NEVER IN MY LIFE NOR MY SISTERS LIFE HAVE WE EVER HEARD OF SUCH A THING?!?! You knew weeks in advance this movie was showing on this day at this time...why wasn't that taken care of? So now it's 30mins past the show time, 40mins past & another employee apologizes again & says "we're still waiting, however if anyone would like a refund, you can come up stairs". Some people left, majority stayed, including myself. I told my sister 45mins is my max & at that exact time 45mins later the screen came on. While leaving, they did hand out a complimentary ticket for another AMC movie, which should've happened due to this inconvenience, however I wouldn't come back to this particular theater. It's obvious there's still work that needs to be done with this theater, although I did appreciate the professionalism & kind gesture. read more

I usually go to the 34th or 42nd AMC location but a movie led me to another AMC location, which was this one. Thought it would be similar - more or less, maybe a little smaller. But I was pleasantly surprised that the rooms were decently spaced for their seats. Their seats don't recline much but there is heat on them! Which I actually enjoy as the theater does get a bit chilly (the times I've been there). I appreciate the ac being on though since sometimes the 34th or 42nd location would not!! and I'll be sweating...as I watch a movie lol (okay - not really but it would be nice if it was cooler you know?) A cool feature I don't see in the other AMC theaters would be the little tables, where you can put your popcorn and even a cup holder. There's a cup holder at the armrest too!! So, I really enjoy coming to this location now. There's even a bar stand, not that I would really need a drink when I'm watching a movie, but it's there if you desire. The only thing for me is the spacing of the line for the concession. It makes it a little tough to go through if there were more people. But I guess since not too many people would come here compared to the other locations, it's okay? ALSO! to get in you would show your ticket and Vax card but there's not much room but seem like that's their system. read more

Staff is usually very friendly but it's the only good thing about this movie theater. Screens are small and rooms really long so don't seat too far back. And I don't know why but it's always at this location that I end up having noisy groups or couples, talking, clapping or screaming all movie long!!! It ruins the experience! I'm going to assume most of the horrible reviews here are pre-renovation, because I was here in late December 2018 (on a cold, rainy night), and couldn't have been much happier--or more comfortable in their new reclining, heated seats. They clearly took out some seating to create more legroom/better views as well. The end result is solid sight lines in a cozy environment. Theater was uber-clean (we were early, and they wouldn't even let us in until done cleaning), and they've added seat selection, so you don't need to get there early to stake out your spot anyway. Not to mention it's generally not incredibly crowded anyway, so easy to negotiate. Concessions are standard movie and screen seemed acceptable quality, though I'd guess probably not updated when they splurged on the seating. All in all, if you can do without the trendier cinema experience of full service food & drinks, and just want to see a movie in a comfortable, no-frills environment, this seems to me a perfectly fine option. read more

There is also a bar on the first floor across from the soda machines. The seats are tall and sort of hard (not that comfy). I recommend the 5th row or higher.
