    Auditorium 5, seat F1

This is the location of frequent the most as it is fairly close to my job. The staff is laid back and friendly. The popcorn is fresh, the auditoriums are intimate and the chairs are comfy. Note: this is an older theater with touches of modernity. Appreciate the experience.

Large popcorn and large fountain drink.

Came here last week to see Five Night's at Freddy's 2. I've been passing by this theater for years but this was my first time seeing a movie here. I usually go to Regal theaters but I'm a free AMC Stubs member. They gave me some free things for my birthday so I wanted to indulge! Very easy to get to with the 3rd Avenue stop on the L 3 blocks away and the Union Square stop a short distance as well. The theater is huge but each floor isn't, if that makes any sense. There are several long and skinny floors. The concessions are right directly when you come in. So if you want popcorn or other items, you have come down to the ground floor to get them. As a free Stubs member, I got a free large popcorn and free fountain drink for my birthday, which were so nice to have free! They have the popcorn at the front, waiting already in buckets/bags. Not freshly poping like at other theaters. Which makes me wonder how long its been lying there for! It tasted fine, though. The one HUGE plus that the AMC theaters have for me is the Coca-Cola Freestyle machines. To have that much variety for your fountain drinks is fantastic. The first floor has just the restrooms. Which were decently clean, but cramped. The second had the theater my movie was playing in, auditorium 3. It also had the freestyle machine. Nice and convenient that I didnt have to go 2 flights down to fill my cup. The theater was huge, in a wide way. Lots of seating and a very large screen. Seats are comfy. One complaint is the seat next to mine was broken and didnt recline. Theater was clean with no signs of vermin. Which I've encountered at other NYC theaters. You could hear another movie through the wall. It was annoying, but tolerable. The experience was pleasant and I wouldn't hesitate to return to see another movie here in the future. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, if you're a free member, tickets are discounted and there's a waived convenience fee when you buy on the AMC app. Highy recommend becoming a free member. Well worh it. The workers werent very pleasant, but that won't deter me from returning.

Great staff here but the layout is awkward. Relatively small lobby area, where the concession stand is there immediately as you enter. To the right is where they take your ticket before you ride the escalator upstairs. The floors are spaced out and I believe only have one or two theaters, per floor. The seats are comfortable, but in my opinion, the food isn't so great. I got the pretzel bites, which were just okay. The pizza still tasted frozen and was absolute waste of money. I'd still say this is one of the better movie theaters in the city. Just stick with the popcorn and eat afterwards.

It's tough to build a new multiplex cinema in Downtown Manhattan, but this place is a great attempt at that in the early 90's - and it's been well adapted to today's standards. The screens take the entire wall and the seating is very comfortable with more than enough leg room, even in the fully reclined position. They have a great location and it's always a good experience.

Everything was ok until I stepped into the theatre. It was so cold I had to zip up my winter jacket. It's not like it's a local movie theater & business isn't that great . We customers pay the same money as all the other AMC s, why would I wanna seat in a freezing theater! Customer service was good. Place looks clean.

I came by here to watch a movie over the weekend. It is much smaller than other movie theaters I have seen. You enter in the front where there is a ticket counter and a candy/snack section. Normally you order the snacks after passing the ticket booth but here is different. You have to go upstairs to see the screenings. The screening rooms were not very spacious. You have the reclining chairs but are packed in with several other people. You can easily see someone turn on their phone and use it in the dark room. It was an interesting experience but not worth it overall. I would rather go to a larger theater to have more space and enjoy the movie without distractions.

From left, Endorien, Cameron and Rory. Real-life Supermen and heroes!

A HUGE shout out to AMC employees Rory, Endorien, and Cameron for saving my mom tonight. I took her to see Superman, and she ended up being rescued by these three real-life superheroes when the elevator broke. They practically carried her down three flights of stairs! These incredibly altruistic men sprang into action when I explained that my mom had recently broken her hip and was at high risk for falling again if she tried to take the escalator with her walker. Rory immediately went to consult his manager, Rosie, and even suggested calling the fire department for assistance. But Rory quickly decided it was better to handle it himself, asking Endorien and Cameron to assist him. They patiently and respectfully waited while my mom used the bathroom, and then Rory and Endorien each took an arm and gently walked her down the stairs, while Cameron stood guard to catch her if she slipped or fell. My mom joked that she'd never been escorted by such handsome young men before! But seriously, it was clear these three men genuinely cared about my mom's well-being and treated her like she was their own family. I snapped photos because I wanted the world to see the faces of these great people with huge hearts. When we reached the bottom, Rosie was there to greet us with a smile and cheered on her staff for going above and beyond. It was clear that this kindness starts from the top down. If you're ever at this theater and see any of these amazing young men, know that there are still truly good people in this world--especially at a time when it can sometimes feel like kindness is hard to find. These guys are true heroes, and I'll be forever grateful for their compassion and care! Thank you so much again!!

I try to frequent AMC village 7 when I can as an avid movie goer. It's quiet and clean. I usually go to AMC 42nd because of the more times and movies available. However, that can come with a lot of noise while watching the movie. I had the pleasure of stopping in and seeing Nightswim. Staff is very friendly, and it's a pleasure to see our elders working and still going strong. The theater was clean, seats comfortable, and no unruly loud people during the movie, always the best. Popcorn was really good. I didn't need any salt at all. My drink is usually a combination of peach, cherry, strawberry, low calories, or no sugar lemonade. Nightswim wasn't as bad as I've heard. The movie kept me engaged and showed the bond and love a father had for his family. The seating is very comfortable, and the chairs actually recline all the way back. Some recliners in their other theaters dont, and you can actually enjoy the movie in peace.

Great reclining seats but $10 for the smallest popcorn?? And it was terrible--overly salted and greasy. Disgraceful.

The staff came across as nonchalant and not very engaged, which set the tone right away. The food didn't help either--the spicy tuna was completely flavorless, not crispy and the drinks were underwhelming. We also weren't told ahead of time that you have to pick up your food and drinks yourself, which was surprising since we're used to full service at your seat. On the positive side, the popcorn and truffle fries were decent, but everything else fell short. The seats were just okay--not particularly comfortable. The bathroom situation was also frustrating--it's located upstairs near the restaurant and wasn't well maintained. There were no paper towels, and overall cleanliness was lacking. Overall, this felt like a subpar experience, and I won't be returning. My cousin mentioned the New Jersey location is much better, so maybe it's just this one--but based on this visit, I wouldn't recommend it.

(Click on my Substack for more Baumbach thoughts including my brief interaction with the auteur, as awkward as many of his finest scenes). You may have heard about the successful company that helped destroy movie theaters by pivoting to "content" meant to promote purchases of high-end TVs and nice couches. (Related, I went to Best Buy and didn't recognize anything. Is that a thermostat? A stereo? A smart garden hose?) This company was so successful, that after Knives Out was heralded as single-handedly reviving non-Marvel film, its sequel was withheld from the theaters it allegedly saved. (BTW, if you were planning to tell me to watch the amazing 53-part Quibi streaming series about The Golden Age Of Hollywood, don't bother). But after Netflix helped destroy theaters, it did a nice thing. It's one of those ironic moments like the purse-snatcher scene in Jay Kelly. It signed a lease that helped the Paris avoid the fate of the Ziegfeld and a million others, in a world where the AMC theaters that destroyed all the independents have been suffering themselves. So, while it was vile that Netflix thought Roma should be seen on TVs, it was nice of them to show it at the Paris, especially for the unusually vibrant sound. I saw Train Dreams Saturday. I suppose, like the kid in Squid and The Whale, I am a philistine. I wish I could praise its morose existentialism but I'm not quite on board. However, I did appreciate the majesty of the northwestern fires and falling trees in this venue. There was no assigned seating; not sure if this is just temporary, but if they keep that policy I might be obliged to overlook Netflix's evil and upgrade to 5 stars.

Over time many hits such as: Zefirelli's 'Romeo and Juliet' 1968 (Italy), 'A Room With a View' 1985 by James Ivory (UK) , et le film 'Belle de Jour' 1967 (France) directed by Luis Buñuel, were introduced to the United States with an introductory theatrical run at our beloved Paris. There's a few issues here and a few fantastic things and I think the easiest way is to list them by category. The Bad: -Like others, I agree that the seats unfortunately are not that comfortable here. This is by far the biggest issue here and it should have been addressed years ago and I doubt it will be soon -They still show the same extremely annoying metal band shirt advertisement with flashing lights that is annoying every single time I go here -The staff here aren't the nicest but it's a movie theater so I can deal with it The Good: -If you're looking for independent films and foreign films, this is one of if not the best theater to go to -The occasional Q&A I'm able to go to such as most recently for Eephus; which was an excellent existential baseball movie; and the Ukrainian documentary Porcelain War last year are always entertaining and interesting and they don't cost more so I would recommend them -If you're looking to see some form films to fill out your Letterboxd Oscar list or perhaps the shorts or something, they show virtually all of them here -They have some fun midnight screenings and other things such as the obligatory The Room and Rocky Horror Picture Show of course There's a few other theaters that I like going to more but there's occasionally films that you really can't find anywhere else. Combine that with the fact that this place is so convenient that I deal with any of the issues here. If they fix the seats, you can preemptively switch this to five stars but for now, it's a four.
